James Wood owned the role of Hades and reprised his role in Young Hercules the animated series. Home Improvement was integral with Allen's Buzz Lightear. Aladdin's Genie is the ad libs of all ad libs.
@@SlyFan-mp8dc I think he voiced like 72 different characters when playing Genie. It's a mixture of impressions, meta jokes, ad-libbing, just going all out. He was just doing rapid fire improvisation.
@@juanrisa945 Who said he stopped just because he is in heaven now? I mean think about all the terminal illness kids that get to see him be genie and other awesome characters with the help of god for special effects.
"Jar of dirt" scene: Johny Depp really did fall down those stairs on accident, the reactions we see of the other actors are genuine, then, Depp got back up, but had forgotten his lines, so he improvised.
Haha yeah, the Jar of Dirt scene was one of depp's best improvised lines that really was an accident. That's why some lines are best found on accident. I tried the same once in a theatre play when I was in high school. I fell during one rehearsal then, because the costume I wore was itchy with a cape dragging on the floor my foot caught one time. So I improvised the line close to how the Jar of Dirt was actually done. And my director then loved my improvise, so he added it to the script for the real thing. One way I learned from the improvise in the Jar of Dirt.
@@sierrasasmartass7755 That wasn't the case for me. Falling down didn't make me forget my lines, just had a long cape my foot caught that time was all. Because I had the feet of an athlete before I was into theatre back then.
Honestly Hades is one of the best Disney characters and THE best villain. He wasnt just wicked, he was hilarious and oddly charming at the same time. Hes a character I wish Disney would give more credit and appearences.
An instance of something or saying it first doesn't make it the originator. If Hercules was in fact was what the "meme" video references (which I highly doubt), it still isn't the start of the phenomenon.
The start of that scene is iconic. Especially the line, "And you are... wearing... HIS MECHANDISE!!!!!" Hades pausing to the sound of Panic Panic: *Sipping a Hercules theme drink* "Thirsty?" Cue explosion. XD
@@zekesteed4185 I honestly thought that's the line they meant when they said "Cogsworth's zinger". I was surprised when it wasn't. The "promises you don't intend to keep" was funny too though.
You should have added a footnote with Gilbert Gottfried's ad lib if only because it made ROBIN laugh "I gotta start packing, we need the guns, the weapons, the knives...and how about this picture? I dunno, I think I'm making a weird face in it..."
He basically did, and they animated to his voice recordings. Reason he has so much extra vocal content than many of the other voice actors in films where they're going by the script.
Why is Captain Jack Sparrow’s scene so low? That is one of the funniest improvised scenes because Depp actually tripped during that part and you can see Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly are both mentally going “this is not in the script. What’s going on?”
Fun fact: Disney animators actually animated one of Robin's routines with him as Genie in order to convince Robin to take the roll. The character was pretty much made for him.
@@catalinamelo9932 It’s not in the film itself, but the routine was Robin starting to talk about schizophrenia, whereupon the genie suddenly grows a second head and starts arguing with himself.
The"I've Got a Jar of Dirt" scene always makes me laugh! Also, the casts' reactions were priceless! Also, Hades is my favorite Disney villain and James Woods and I are both from Rhode Island.
You know Samuel E. Wright (the voice of Sebastian of The Little Mermaid) improvised the line "Teenagers they think they know everything." I'm surprised that was not included on this list.
*director hand over a blank piece of paper robin williams: whats this? director: your lines robin williams: say no more i knew robin williams would be NO. 1, el numero uno
One of my favorite stories about the Alice in Wonderland tea party is when the Mad Hatter and the March Hare were fixing the White Rabbit's clock. In the recording studio, they forgot to turn off the mic and Jerry Colonna and Ed Wynn were improving lines to make the crew laugh, including the infamous line "Mustard? Well let's not be silly!" Walt Disney happened to be walking by and commented to the crew how that was funny and they should use it. The recording staff told him there was too much background noise and they weren't sure they could. He told them "That's not my problem. Figure it out." And they did. In fact, if you listen to that line in the movie, you can tell some editing was done to that particular sound clip.
As an actor, I can confirm. Some of the best things that I've ever done were improvs that stuck. My favorite being this past year when my group confirmed that our skits were part of the Santa Clause (Tim Allen) universe.
When a performer can provide absolute tons of fantastic and highly varied material, but naturally only so much can actually make it into the film, we call that "Phenomenal cosmic power, itty-bitty living space".
They missed the scene where Jane tells her father and Clayton about her first encounter with Tarzan. It was improvised by her voice actress Minnie Driver
3:50 The absolute best part is that we can literally see the actors just look confused, and look *away towards the producers*, as if they are expecting them to cut.
* Sees Jar of Dirt but not at number one* What is this heresy? * Sees Mrs. Nesbit not even really on the list* What is this *slander?* * Sees Robin William's at number 1* *THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST ACCURATE LIST OF ALL TIME!!*
5:59 Olaf: "Who's the funky looking donkey over there?" Anna: "That's Sven...?" Olaf: "Uh-huh. And who's the reindeer?" Me: APPLY ICE AND ALOE ON THE SITE OF THE BURN, KRISTOFF. OLAF IS SAVAGE.
Gabriella Gonzales or the guy that worked hard on the genie’s script to find out later Robin Williams will be the genie lol. He probably flipped his desk over haha.
@@popphaneuf could you blame him? lol on the Blu Ray they showed HOURS of him in the booth sweating and out of breath from just improvising. My God, it was incredible. Miss that man...
Robin Williams' improve skills were legendary. After the first season of "Mork and Mindy" the writers would leave large portions of the scripts blank with just the note "Robin can go off here" knowing that whatever he would deliver would be funnier and more random than anything they could come up with.
@@Sailor1088 "Look, I've got 24 hours to get rid of this BOZO, before the entire scheme I've been setting up for 18 years goes up in smoke....and YOU...ARE WEARING...HIS MERCHANDISE!!!!!!" *fiery glare*. XD
That movie made me cry as a kid. #10 actually came about because Joaquin flubbed his line and adorable little Jeremy Suarez rolled with it by correcting the story
I never use the phrase "You forgot to include ________." Whenever I watch a top 10 or ranking video. But.......... you guys forgot Tarzan the scene where Jane tells her father about the monkey that took her Boot, I am honestly shocked it wasn't in the top 5. It's a hilariously improvised scene by the voice actress, the animators even had a challenging time animating that scene because of how spastic the voice actress sounded.
Robin Williams improvised most of his scenes, bro that dude was talented! *Edit:* Wow I just saw the number one I didn't know it would be that. Great video btw, as always 😘💕
I had no idea the "promises you don't intend to keep" was improvised. I always loved that line so much. The "hula" line with Nathan Lane was pure gold. And of course Robin Williams.... genius.
Runner up? Gilbert Gottfried as Iago Not only was a TON of his dialogue allibbed but Amusing anecdote ready, Timmy? DEPLOY ANECDOTE!!! Apparently, in the scene when Iago is packing to escape, and uses the line 'should I take this picture? I dunno - I think I'm making a weird face...' - yeah, that part? Not only adlibbed BUT Love this part Robin Williams, who was waiting for his turn at the mic, happened to be in the soundbooth during the recording of that line - and his laughter was so raucous and insane after hearing Gottfried's adlib that they told JAFAR's actor to laugh in his take for the scene AND decided the ad-lib had to be kept just because Williams almost busted a gut laughing :P
And James Woods has continued to reprise the role of Hades literally decades later. Props to the man for not declining simply for getting sick of playing the same character.
The fact that Johnny himself MADE Jack Sparrow his own. Even when he's out about in public, you can catch glimpses of him talking and acting like Jack. He even changes his accent from time to time. Goes to show that Disney made a super bad choice in sacking him.
my favorite is probably at the beginning of aladdin when the merchant goes ‘it will not break. it broke.’ robin williams also voiced him and was blindfolded and had to describe items so he most likely broke the prop he was holding
Not even an honorable mention to Patrick Warburton and his improvised Kronk's theme song when he takes Kuzko's unconscious, freshly llama'd body out of the city? That scene was more golden than Kuzko's palace
So with Robin's part, you forgot to mention the vendor at the beginning of the movie. They basically put Robin in front of a table with some objects and just told him to play with them and with that result was the entire scene.
Robin was always that kind of actor. And scriptwriters early on learned "let Robin play". During his days of Mork and Mindy, arguably his breakout role in acting, the writers would stop writing full episodes worth of dialog and scenes and have blank areas simply labeled "Robin can go off here".
@@Kaocyde Probably the best, like the "zen-o-matic" from "Mork and Mindy" was how it essentially was reflected in; "combination hookah and coffeemaker, also makes julienned fries. Will not break, will not (taps on table, "boing")...it broke"
"Sit in the Master's chair, pet the pooch." - is my mother's favorite all time Disney line and one of our many inside jokes. We're always in shock when someone knows what we are talking about.
How Robin worked Robin: "So how much script do you have for me?" Disney: "We have a song." Robin: "Anything else?" Disney: "No. And the movie comes out tomorrow." Robin: "I thought I was gonna be challenged, but ok. Let me se what I can do."
#1-Made me have a bittersweet, melancholy moment when I was reminded that Robin Williams is gone, how much I miss his humor. If he were alive today, I'm sure he would've found a way to make us laugh through this corona virus mess.
We all knew that Robin Williams as the Genie from Aladdin was going to be #1 When it comes to improve, Robin Williams is the first person who comes to mind
3:04 I read that in the scene where she's crying (after she comes to and apologizes) her actor was actually crying and that line about stealing the pen wasn't in the script. Jason did it because he wanted her to stop crying.
The ice cream parlor was good, but I like the improv in Zootopia when Judy apologized to Nick. Ginnifer Goodwin actually started to break down when she said her lines, and Jason went along with it. When the directors heard the recording, they were thinking about redoing it, but the lead animator in charge of Judy told them that they shouldn't. She took the voice clip and did a quick animation showing that it could work. And that's what we hear in the movie
The Fast Talking Hades is absolutely a improvised scene😂😂😂😂And the Tea Party too, and it's the same thing for the scenes when Timon was dancing the Hula
The best part of the Pirate scene is the look of confusion on Orlando's and Keira's face are legitimate. They weren't sure what was going on and Orlando is looking off screen like "Is this a blooper real? No? Ok moving on."
My favourite Robin Williams improv is not a genie line, but it's the one at the very beginning as the man who tries to sell the lamp and all that stuff, 'cause he had a table with a lot of objects and he picked one randomly with his eyes blindfolded, then describe it
