Hey I'm from 7 years into the future we have Uber, VR, A pandemic, and Electric cars and the Memphis Grizzlies are currently number 1 in the west with their 2nd overall pick.
and they got the 4th pick with the worst record in 2007 (while most people only remembered the Celtics slipped to the 5th with 2nd worst record, leading it to the big 3 trade)
Shinedogs wait how did the bulls get the number 1 pick in 1999 when they won 3 titles in a row for the 2nd time.please explain will appreciate the explanation.
Elgin Baylor was the king of wasting high draft picks and striking out on mainly all of them. Clippers had plenty of chances to have very talented squad but Elgin couldn’t seem to scout the right players and always drafted power forwards.
If I remember right, the Raptors & Grizzlies weren’t permitted to have the #1 pick for the first few years of their existence (I’m unable to explain why because I’m remembering this off the top off my head; you’ll have to look it up). So Grizzlies getting #2 was the best they could get.
Please be more specific , was it a slavery feel for each victorious team representative (Elgin Baylor), or, like most young people, is racism only initiated by caucasians
I 1000% agree with this top 10, I do believe Patrick Ewing was the biggest lottery pick ever in 1985. That pick changed the Knicks Franchise for the next decade and was a huge lottery spot!
Every draft lottery is rigged Cleveland gets LeBron the hometown kid same with the Bulls and D Rose LeBron leaves Cleveland the first time they get a couple more first picks Around the lockout time the hornets didn't have an owner and Chris Paul got traded so they gift wrap the number one pick which was Anthony Davis to sweeten the deal for a buyer those are just a few examples off the top of my head
+hikingtrainer(: that's bcuz the Chicago guy was stupid af for breaking up that 90's Bulls team, he cared more about getting the no 1 pick than winning them 6 rings...
Interesting how not one of these teams went on to win the championship. Yeah, Spurs won but only after they won the Duncan lottery which isn't shown here.
How is the Spurs winning the '97 draft lottery not on here? The Celtics were heavy favorites to land the first pick and the Spurs swooped in and stole Duncan!
+zabuku hoang yea there was a slim chance. grizzlies been kind of fucked because all their lottery pick were protected by the Pistons since 1997 and since they didnt had the very first pick in 03, they had to give it to the pistons
You know what I don't get? When its down to two teams, why don't they just skip the 2nd pick and go directly to announce the winner and then open the other envelope just to confirm? Takes abit of the excitement out of winning the draft. You don't see them announcing the 2nd place contestant before the winner in a beauty pageant, so why do it here? =(
oh wow they have elton brand and kenyon martin here (2 guys who are really good but have had injury plagued seasons where they contributed nothing) but yet they dont have tim duncan? duncan helped win all of san antonio's championships, what has brand and martin done for their teams?
they got number 1 and number 4 as well. good job cavs. now make a better jersey. and hopefully you will make it in the playoffs and be the number 8 or 7 seed and beat heat at the playoffs. that would be sick.
10. Danny Manning: 0 ring for Clippers 9. Dwight Howard: 0 ring for Magic 8. Elton Brand: 0 ring for Bulls 7. David Robinson: 2 rings for Spurs 6. Brad Daugherty: 0 ring for 76ers, Cavs 5. LeBron James: 1 ring for Cavs 4. Kenyon Martin: 0 ring for Nets 3. Allen Iverson: 0 ring for 76ers 2. Shaquille O'Neal: 0 ring for Magic 1. Chris Webber (Penny Hardaway): 0 ring for Magic
1:55 - One of the purest "screaming internally" moments ever, courtesy of Jerry West. Memphis would only keep the pick if they landed the #1 choice. So they send it to Detroit, and the Pistons commited a top-5 draft mistake by selecting Darko Milicic.
imagine if all these picks were switched Danny Manning with the pacers Dwight Howard with the clippers! Elton Brand with the grizzlies David Robinson with the suns! Brad Daugherty/ R. Hinson with the celtics LeBron James with the grizzlies! Kenyon Martin with the grizzlies Allen Iverson with the Raptors! Shaq With the Hornets! C-Webb with the 76ers! Patrick Ewing with the Pacers!
@22BubbaNelson22 Oh please enlighten me as to how in 2007 the top three teams (all of them tanked) dropped three places while the teams that did need the picks (Hawks, TrailBlazers, and Sonics) all miraculously got what they needed? How about the next year when the Bulls won with about a 2.8% chance to get Derrick Rose in a big market? Luckily for Orlando whenever it does bad, it always gets someone like Shaq or Dwight to help out. Just luck I'm sure... LOL Celtics and Grizzlies still rock!
@ReALxDeAL Nah funny thing about that Memphis pick with Lebron was that the only way Memphis kept that pick is if they got number 1...it was top pick protected that;s it....if they would have gotten the top pick they kept otherwise it was Detroits pick in whatever trade that was way back....so for Memphis it was literally Lebron or bust!!!! Talk about an intense moment for Jerry West who would probably still be there today if they had gotten him
Well obviously they wouldn't have drafted the same players (Rudy Gays the first that comes to mind) since it would've been a much better team with LeBron/Gasol and they wouldn't have had to be in the lottery, but if somehow the same players all ended up in Memphis just plus LeBron, that would be a championship team pretty much every year
lmao the grizzlies had 3 #2 picks that means they missed out on elton brand, lebron james, and kenyon martin Raped!!! nd Patt williams won the first pick in orlando 3 times they picked shaq, penny hardawat, and dwight howard with those picks nd he won it in philly too in 1986 that nigga needs to play the real lottery hes to good for the nba lottery
IMAGINE IF WE DIDNT GET THE FIRST PICK For LEBRON HISTORY WOULD BE SO DIFFERENT!,!?! AMAZING LOVE IT NICE JOB AWESOME COOL VIDEO GREAT THIS IS THE BEST WOWW!??!
What does a smart front office have to do with their luck in getting high picks in the lottery? If you want to talk about a smart front office and finding good players look no further than the Spurs. Sure they lucked out with Robinson and Duncan, but they keep finding gems and developing players.
My god... the memphis grizzlies had the chance to get lebron.. c bosh.. and melo all in the same year but we traded for some no name and the 27th pick (kendrick perkins, who wasnt, and still isnt that good) from the pistons .... i fucking hate our old management
Damn it, Grizz. Lol, that's my team, though... People ripped on our front office for years... for no reason, really. We've actually ended up drafting well... minus Gooden, Thabeet, and D. Carroll in 2009! GRIZZ NATION, baby, we don't need any of those COLD ASS PLAYERS! ;)
2000 draft pick is considered the worst of all time, only one person made it, and he didn't even got picked in the first round, that's Michael Redd. All the others are role players to be fair, Kenyon actually deserved to be 1st that year.
Basketball wise no Tim Duncan, Dollar wise no Yao Ming really? or NBA just got something to hide, because both Spurs and Rockets were not suppose to get the 1st pick. Look how many championship Duncan brought, Look how much money Yao Ming brought
Who cares? Stern fixes these drafts so that certain teams do not get the picks. He wants Chicago, LA, New York and Orlando to do well. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies, Timberwolves, and Kings always get shunted away from the biggest names in the draft!
i always thought that the nba draft lottery was a joke and that it robbed some teams of their rightful place of drafting a great player. but it is intense, and exciting, still would suck to be the grizzlies
@Jcd1994 i'm not forgetting, I know he came straight out of high school so of course there were going to be doubts about him so what i was just a what if for me when i brought those issues up.
