@@eldrickt.w.3525 I don't know if you've ever played sport before but not all injuries/ailments impede you physically. Sometimes during the course of a match you could get muscle soreness, feel sick, get hit (in a contact sport) and still continue to operate at a reasonable level, though in some discomfort/pain. Trust me, I've played football matches through a lot worse than a stomach ache. Although it may be annoying for opponents, it's not your place to judge the severity of someones injury/ailment. They're entitled to a medical timeout and you just have to deal with it, rather than be a bad sport about it.
@eldrickt.w.3525

@@tank_0251 Your are talking with the God of injuries haha. I know there are injuries that let you play and others that don't. Although Monfils have suffered many times from unespicified pains that have caused him to make faces but have allowed him to run like nothing at the same time. This has happened too many times to believe him. You can't look like you are dying but at the same time run more that anyone match after match through the years and expect people to believe you. If you have something serious enough to make that gestures and faces you can't run like you are at 100%.

I agree, though I do wonder if there needs to be a rule change in this area. If the wrong call is made, but the player didn't have a play on the ball anyway, then there's clearly no reason to replay the point. When the player does have a play on the ball, however, it becomes a completely subjective decision as to whether or not the incorrect call influenced the players shot and it's naturally going to lead to disputes such as this one. So maybe they should just always replay the point. At least that way the umpire can say, "That's the rule, it's the same for everyone," rather than being left having to defend his/her subjective opinion of what occurred against the subjective opinion of the player.

In the case of Monfils, the referee does not get off the referee's table and looks at the quarrel between the players. I thought the referees believed that Monfils wouldn't have an extra fight.

Journeyman Millman has a point, these on-court antics are unnecessary and can make an otherwise routine match (whatever that may mean) somewhat of a circus. You get tired of it and if you've already had a long enough career and made a good amount of money and not enjoying yourself or your tennis, you may want to call it a career.

I mean, maybe? Technically the point wasn't over and Medvedev did talk during it, so it is within the right of an umpire to call hindrance. Obviously Dani thought the point was over and him talking didn't really seem to affect his opponent, but a rule is a rule.
@jbolanowski1
@jbolanowski1 2 года назад
@@myerklamb8529 true, but on the other hand noone -including Bublik - would demand applying this rule here. Medvedev clearly won the point and his "sorry" neither affected the play no was it any dirty play/disrespactful/trying to break opponent concentration kind of situation. But as an umpire you have to make a decision at instance and techically speaking it wasn't incorrect decision .

I can't see if ball bounced twice on Ymer vs. Thompson, but judging by his reaction as soon as he won the point, and how he tells him "talk to him (the ref)" is pretty telling. Just like him acting like he's getting close to Thompson after the match with the ref in between him lololol

I think Bublik legitimately didn't understand what was happening though lol. As he was walking back to the baseline he asks "so you call that i interrupted the point, right?" (he didn't get that the hindrance was Medvedev's)

What I don’t understand is how pro players always act so confused over a decision or a call. They act like they’ve never heard the word tennis before, I guess cuz they wanna win the point but still. Not rlly referring too much to this specific instance, but it blows my mind how players pretend not to know the rules and just wanna make the umpire look like a crazy psycho
