Yea i didn't realise how bad it was, until I realised that front half of his car was hanging at an angle. The fire was crazy enough, but he had to get out of the car with it being like that
Right. I don't see anything "dramatic" in Stroll pole position. It was emotional, it was satisfying, it was breathtaking... But dramatic? I don't think so.
@@EVENo94 It was because 1. It was the 1st time Mercedes didn't take pole and 2. That pole had Max written all over it only for Stroll of all people to get it.
I think it's a deserved win from Gasly , he got lucky but nowadays if you're not in a Merc or a RB , you have to be lucky to win , Sainz reduced the diff to under 1s with 3 laps to go but he failed to overtake Gasly .
I'm never going to be able to see Romain without at least a lump in my throat. When he talks about being happy to be there, it flattens me each time. I've seen some horrible - and sadly, fatal - crashes in my near 50 years of being a petrolhead. 2 wheels or 4, doesn't matter, I love it. But I've seen too many horrendous crashes as they happened and that one was one of the most terrifying I've ever seen. For him to jump over that barrier... Yes, the massive amount of safety features there are now absolutely played their parts, and for that I'll be forever grateful, but it was like seeing a miracle unfold, especially as he was, to all intents and purposes, barely hurt at all. This year, I think that every improvement in safety has in one way or another been used. No thanks will ever be enough to those who made them happen.
That crash looked like all the terrible fatal crashes of the 70s put together. Rindt, Williamson, Cevert, Ronnie, Koinigg, all put together. And he walked away from it 👏🏻
“I want this win Tom” pure determination after being told to take it easy and stay safe. When what he wants is right in front of him. Just imagine being in that seat in that scenario
Pretty sure the engineer was saying to take it easy with Kimi specifically, not the whole race. Probably didn’t want to make a collision in turn one which would’ve ended the race so the right decision
All i can say is i'm so proud of the engineers and staff of the F1 the leaps and bounds they have made in safety have saved so many lives it's just astonishing.
Just remember how against the halo a lot of team principals, engineers and especially drivers were. Toto said "If they give me a chainsaw I would cut it off." If Grosjean didn't have it on his car, he would have been decapitated almost 100%. and Lewis probably would have a broken neck or worse after Max ended up on top of him at Monza.
@@netsoroneandonly9326 Another engine that they are using to cheat with UHM I mean go through some loopholes that technically isn't illegal yet but when they are found out it will be illegal and Ferrari will be nerfed again? nice
@@sirmounted8499 In 2019, Ferrari messed with the fuel system. Redbull figured it out and told the FIA if they didn't stop it, they would do it too. So the FIA just added another fuel censor(originally there was only one) to all cars, to ensure that no one can alter the fuel flow. That's how Ferrari got caught out. If they can make a power unit that is much better and within the regulations, no one can object. Honda and Mercedes have done it, they can do it too.
@@jonjogrannell6356 Or like Erricson where they put a r e a l l y long silence between the 'are you pkay?' and Erricson's response (though to be fair Grosjean radio probably got obliterated)
I see many people discrediting Stroll's pole lap only because of where he finished in the race. Its still an incredible lap that should be given more credit regardless of how his race unfolded
Stroll got random wing damage in the race which cost him an incredible amount of downforce in the conditions On the newer inters he had no grip and no chance
@@darksemmel503 Yeah but who knows what would have happened if Albon got a podium there? He seems like an emotional guy who is really frustrated when he DNFs. This podium could have given him confidence for the next races and maybe he would have performed better the whole season because of that.
@@backturn1 at the same time, he had literally the whole season to get the confidence back, if that was enough, then what would be? It's F1, noone will give him free wins just to boost his confidence
Your capacity of overcoming such things is as important to a race driver as his speed. Pérez lost his job, lost a podium when his engine failed with 3 laps to go and won the very next race. That's resilience, you need that to be Verstappen's teamate.
What a dramatic season! It was not boring at all! And HAM did it again in a brave manner. Respect to all, but especially to Grosjean to survive this. Get well soon and a happy season to all F1 drivers.
No matter how many times I see that Grosjean crash, I get tears. We are all very fortunate to see this man alive and well. The result could have been very much so different, and everyone knows it. ❤️
He had 16 more races to prove a point. If I remember correctly, Lance and Max were among the seven other DNFs. One got a pole position and Max even had 2 wins. I like Albon but he just didn't quite cut it this past season.
@@KirtiKumarKasat1 he would have won the race if it weren't for that crash. He was on softs and if you remember both Mercedes had a gearbox issue so they couldn't push to overtake him either. Winning a race before Max would have been a huge confidence boost for Albon and would have put him in a better position with the team.
Resilience is as important to a race driver as his speed. You will have to overcome such things a lot of times in your carreer. Pérez, without seat in the future, lost a podium when his engine failed with 3 laps to go and won the very next race. That's resilience.
My very first F1 season... a very action packed and memorable season indeed!!! I've thoroughly enjoyed it and I am definitely coming back every year!!!
@@RottenWeeblet oh shut up about the second car being slower why would redbull do that after they’ve invested so much time and money into winning the constructors and bringing in young drivers and supporting them through the junior categories?
@@yeezyclutch4318 Well look at every single other Session in every singe other race 1 Session where he does slightly better doesn’t mean he is better that Hamilton
That grosjean crash is what got me into f1 and since then i've been following all the races closely but unintentionally too. Did not know before that f1 was this interesting and fun to watch. Can't wait till next season where we see Norris and Riccardo on the same team.
What madness 2020 has been! So many highs and lows, great racing, unpredictable results, 13 podium finishers, 2 new winners, 1 new pole sitter 2020 was the best season in the turbo hybrid era
I always love Leclerc self reflection although he performs awesome he beats himself up for mistakes and learns a-lot from the thats whyhe is my favorite driver
If you look at that first clip of Grosjean's crash you can see how fast the safety car was on the track and on the scene. Now that's some of the best driving all season!
@@kekehilo1169 You seem like an Albon hater. Why are you going through a bunch of comments and dissing Albon? He is a very talented driver. Also, how was Alex at fault in that crash. Even a Hamilton fan like me can see Alex had no fault. It wasn't like in Brazil where Alex turned in a but early. He had the move done, but Lewis understeered, and hit him. If anyone is at fault it is Lewis.
Just the thing I needed after this day in home office to make it a bit better. Formula video + listening to the music I like (Delta Parole, Metallica and other) make me feel the speed and excitement!
You can see it in Netfilix i think and Jean Todd talk about it in Dubai. at the beginning of course fear and Todd call Marion Jollès who's Grosjean's wife for giving some news.
I'm not a big Albon fan, but I do believe we would've seen a lot more of him if Hamilton didn't drive him off the track twice. Dude would've gotten so much more needed confidence if he finished those races.
I mean during the season I didn’t think that it was going to be crazy but now that they made this video it was a crazy season along with unlikely wins and podiums
