Awesome video! Yea I'm so pumped you guys are doing KDM, best content I've seen in a long time. I'm currently obsessed cause I just got my 1.6, so you got me on that Patreon for KDM content ❤️ keep it up!
Just wanted to say how lucky you are to have a wife that enjoys the same things you do. I couldn't imagine being in a relationship like this where my other half wants to do what I want to do. Bravo mate, if she has a sister direct message me. :P
Haha, word usage / definition might be a bit off! Just googled the term. Mostly I meant - largest currently producing quality content. At one point I was the preeminent collector though xD
I had already ordered the "coin pvc sheets" to store Gear cards but the (now obvious) idea to cut down to 3 x 3 to display the actual player's gear was awesome! (There's a lot to get your head around for KDM and little consolidated beginner intro's (eg how can I check if I actually have all the right cards? Fandom wiki entry is wrong : I have one more card that they dont list!) so this video was perfect, thank you.
Hello. Excellent and helpful video! Can anyone tell me please which brand of coin sleeves you use (and maybe where to get them from)? Because everything I have looked for is too small for the gear cards to fit. Thanks. Also, what size sleeves do you use for the event cards and the settlement locations? Thanks again.
It seems I'm late to the party I have KDM 1.6 but it's unopened as I feel I want to get all these extra things... seems the sleeves and rings have all been taken already. Also what are the plastic top loaders' dimensions? Thanks love the content!
@@Quackalope well the issue is wholely on poots :) He basically created a scarcity, thus the game feels like an atelier product and the already high, MSRP prices becomes ridiculous, transforming an hobby game in a scalpers' Haymarket .. While I can afford to pay even those prices (I'm reasonably well off), i chose to vote with my wallet.. I'm ok with spending a bit more for a good product but with kdm we crossed the line.. Take the dragon king expansion: going for 100 USD, and that's already too much content-wise, it's something that should be priced in the 40-50ish.. Bu then you have the scummy scalper selling it for 250-300... This could be easily countered with reprinting, but the unwillingness of poots to address it makes me believe that he's more concerned in "making a game" rather than "make it available" :/
@@witchedwiz Dragon king being $150 USD is absolutely worth it though, the main mini is huge and to the only other price comparison being GW it's a reasonable MSRP price.
Great video! I love your Kingdom Death content and other content as well :) I'll have to look for those character sheets but have and recommend the other upgrades you mention (especially a good organizer). One thing I did was that I laminated my character sheets and found a larger version that includes the gear grid. I write in marker eraseable with water and it does a good job of being able to clean up and reuse the sheet. I use poker chips to keep track of insanity and have a bunch of chessex D6s that work great for tracking armor levels. I just put the die on top of the gear with the value and adjust when hit. D10s work great for tracking survival during play.
What has always kept me from entering kingdom death is not only the price tag but also the exclusivety of the content. If you want anything there is for the game you will have to invest serious money and time into the hunt for specific components. If they bring out a big box for some anniversary with all the playable expansions I will happily shove my money down their throat but until then I will stick to your Videos.
And if you have a 3D printer there are terrain pieces out there in the internet to print :) Its look waaaaayyyyy better than the cardboard tokens :) And the playerboards out of the 3D printer are very nice too to hold the gearcards 3x3 and track your armor, survival, insanity and light and heavy injurys and bleed and stat tokens :) Makes it easier to keep track of your status. For me 2 must haves for KDM Another must have for me are the disorder/fightingarts etc. Minicards printed. Every player can get a card like gearcards with the info from the disorder or fighting art or ability you got in the game No mor writing all the rules for the disorder etc. On the playersheet :)
Kdm is my favorite game. I've played it every Monday for almost 3 years with a regular group. I agree with 90% of the suggestions you have, although I don't have all of them for myself... Now I know you have some more KDM content on Patreon I might have to go see them just to get my own ideas on filming.
Hey, this is great info for someone who just managed to get their 1.6 version of the game! I've been looking around for getting expansions too, but literally can only find them on ebay for way way over what their MSRP is. Is there anywhere I can get them from at a semi-reasonable price? We plan on playing loads with my friends so just asking in advance, but of course there's loads of content for us to play through for now! Thank you for being the central spot for all things KDM! :D
Bought the coin sleeves for the gear cards in the link.. Too small for the cards. Total waste of my money, unfortunately. Don't buy the sleeves in the link.. *sigh*
I was this [--------] close to asking on patreon yesterday what are the essentials for newbies with the game. Then you release this perfect video. Thanks so much!! Having watched a few of the patreon only videos I ended up buying the game so 2022 is going to be KDM heavy. I also got townsfolk tussle yesterday from kickstarter so my KDM gateway will be on the table while I get my initial survivors glued and painted. LOVE the effort and detail you put in all your videos. HUGE CLAPS
Hey guys! I have a nice word document with the KDM sheets but a design a bit nicer than the one on the net. Can I send it to you? I don't see any way to mail you...
My sleeves are finally all fitted, my character/settlement sheets are printed and my coin sleeves are arriving today. I'm hoping to make my own inserts. I will have to unsleeve my equipment cards ;/
I have the laserox insert and it stores all kdm core and expansions of death (unsleeved), with no lid lift. I even store smaller minis in the gear card tray as I now keep the cards in a binder. It is well worth the money
This is quite useful. I just picked up the game, but have not made it to the table yet. The components have not made it anywhere near my mouth. But it looks like the things that will help with set up and tear down will certainly be necessary.
Fyi the coin sleeves linked in the description are NOT the correct size. The pockets are ~1.7"x1.7" and the gear cards are 2"x2". Coin sleeves arrived today, disappointment arrived slightly after :-(
The cards are 2 inches wide and high. Where do you find coin holder sleeves that have a 5x4 grid with more than 2" width? The only ones I find are a 3x4 grid with 2.9 inches width and height. Standard 5x4 grids have only 1.9 inch squares. Your link to the US amazon store also tells me they are 1.9" wide. Do you really use those? How many square cards does the KDM 1.6 game have? I can't find a list of everything inside the box.
Gear cards / coin sleeves. So I have already sleeved all my gear cards with paladins 51x51mm sleeves. Will I be able to fit my sleeved gear cards to said coin pockets? I really want those pockets to be my players gear grids and cant find any alternative to that linked coin pocket thing. Thanks! And I also love these alternative player sheets and aids! I am also ambivalent between whether I will magnetize all the gear, or glue all the armor sets ready and magnetize just the weapons / wrists.
So, I have been having a damn hard time finding coin sleeves that are big enough to fit the gear cards. Any chance we could get a link to the ones you picked up that you found are working for you? All the ones I've found thus far are exactly 2", which is like 0.05 inches too small and the cards don't slide in nicely/want to bend when inserting. Thanks.
Hi, may I ask, what Binder do you use for the Gear cards? The link for the Coin Sleeves is only for the pages, and since I have no experience in Coin Collection, I have no idea what Binder to get for them.
Hi! Great video! I was looking about upgrades as soon ( I hope lol) kmd 1.6 will come to me. One doubt: about Baseball hard plastic sleeve what do you suggest? I looked at US amazon ( I'm an EU costumer) and I think you refer about Ultra PRO 3'' x 4''... Am I right? As I have to pay shipping to EU I just want to be sure I have all I need with one purchase..
For me, I laminated 4 of the bgg player sheets just for the purpose of erasing and wiping off stats. I bought the Folded Space insert which is super cheaper and more important for me, keeps the box lighter than normal wood.
Question, for the event card what kind of sleeves do u use? Im thinking of buying the game and i seems to find postcard sleeves but they dont cover the entire card ? Do u have any advice on what to get for them?
My organizer allows me to bring it to the table setup and tear down within 5-10 min all together. It’s amazing and I’m happy it was my first essential I purchased almost 2 years ago.
Great video, lots of helpful tips. KDM is kind of terrifying to set up as a first timer since there aren't many good resources on box organization and the like. A quick fix I did to prevent divider bending early was to take the mini assembly box, cut the top off and flip it. It's close to an exact fit so it sits on the edges of the tray, and you can fit everything but the rulebook back in the box. Good for the first few days before you can make that mandatory lgs run for all the other stuff you'll need.
I've just received my 1.6 Core in the UK. Been watching KDM content and the KS for years before deciding to get it. I am really enjoying grabbing upgrades and tools to support my love of this game. This video has some great advice and looking forward to watching your "unnecessary" upgrades :D Will also now be checking out your campaign!
This, only I prefer wet erase (and community created sheets) since it doesn't get ruined when stowing characters. I use Dice and Pandemic cubes for tracking when a survivor is active.
We use a combination of dry and wet erase. Dry erase for armor points, insanity, and other things you will change frequently and wet erase for things you generally don't change, hunt xp, courage, your name etc.
@@LycheeSago Actually I bought the 20 pack and now need 4 more so I can do the cut-down 3 x 3 for the actual player grids - wish I'd known that before now I'm waiting another week for Amazon!
This is a great video from you both, clearly knowledgeable on the subject and also your passion comes across for this game. Due to your video a few months ago I managed to pick up 1.6 core on Black Friday after months of looking at silly prices online and it arrived just before Christmas so thank you for that. I think the player sheets and sleeves I will certainly look at while my models are being assembled and painted over the next few months. I have found inserts useful in other games so will probably look on Etsy for something there as well. I like the idea of the wallets for the item and store cards. Thanks for helping many people with this video I certainly appreciate it and is in the best traditions of your channel.
I own a copy of the game but have played a couple of campaigns in tabletop simulator, is sooo much faster just to autocalculate accuracy and strength among other things, i wonder if this game needs an app in the future to keep track of everything. Definitety these upgrades are really helpful
The binder for gear cards is by far the worst way to do it. With a sleeve the gear cards are 51mm and 2” is only 50.8. Only an idiot wouldn’t sleeve their gear cards. Also passing around a binder to 4 people to pull cards in and out of makes settlement phase take an insane amount of time. Just sleeve them and put them in an organizer insert. Infinitely better.
You can take the binder sheets out and pass them around plus the homebrewers made gear sized recipie cards you can print or use MPC to put in the binder so you don't have to look at the location sheet for what is needed to make them. Combine this with his idea of the 3x3 sheet for your character and sleeves are unnecessary
