Thanks! I would like to offer a suggestion; when you make a list of games it would be nice to see them listed at the end. ( I had a cat sleeping in my lap, so I couldn’t get up and get a pencil and paper to write them down)
I've been so interested in Barrage but don't have anyone to play it with. I'm so glad to see it on here because I had no idea there was a solo mode. Thanks!
Thanks for this list and giving attention to to games not usually on solo games lists. Because of this video, I've done a lot more research on Bonfire and have added it to my wishlist
Nice list! I would probably have some of the same games on mine - including Bonfire, which I just played today. I cannot wait to see your Uwe Rosenberg list because I am a huge fan of his - anxiously waiting the arrival of Atiwa, which I have on pre-order, and my Kickstarter of Oranienburger Kanal.
Thanks for making this list. Some games are new to me, like Underwater Cities, Barrage and Cooper Island. Going to check them. Certainly love Newton and Bonfire also.
Interesting selections here, aside from Uwe comment at the beginning and ignoring his games, quite a few good ones on this list. Of course there will be many of opinions from others but I really do like seeing some interesting ones I don't think of. For your video, you selected Merv, didn't even consider this one at all but took on board your comments and now will pull it out to give it a play some time. FWIW my faves are Obsession, Teoutihiucan and Underwater Cities. I am also keen to see how a couple of V.Lacerda games go with On Mars to be tried out soon. I have Gaia project and will have to play that at some time - on my shelf of opportunity/shame/dust!
Cool! Glad to give you a push in some different directions. The Uwe games are really in a class of their own, so that is why I am going to do a separate list for them.
Oh like the list. Love underwater city, the crunchiness and the importance of each decision. Also not an easy game to beat, this is something I like in a solo game. I've seen BONFIRE but never heard anything either way for solo. Great to hear it's tough to beat. I'm adding this to my list of for trades as I'm refreshing my collection. By the way bought Arkham Horror 3rd Edition man you were correct. It did take me sometime to set and play my first game (pretty much the entire day) but oh my gosh did I really enjoy the experience. Love the simple rpg elements but yet the tight decision making for the story out. Also like the game does not end immediately after your character dies as you have an opportunity to play them all. There are not a lot of action available but you are limited (2) on the number you can perform. The game has an easy game structure but getting the flow and how the different cards work took a little time. In addition I really like the story definitely grabs you. Thanks for the recommendation cannot wait for my next play of Arkham Horror 3rd Edition. Really enjoy your list cannot wait to see how you rank the UWE games in the future. By the way did you pre order Oranienburger Kanal? I didn't, hated the color scheme and the mechanic did not appeal so I passed. Until next time have a great day!
I am so glad you are enjoying Arkham Horror 3rd Edition! I love it for all of the reasons you mentioned! It’s time for me to get it back on my table again! I did order Oranienburger Kanal. I’m with you on the color scheme, but I do enjoy the mechanics used. I can’t wait for it to show up. Thanks again for your support!
Great list, I am glad that games I love a lot but not too many people mentioned are on this list - Crown of Emara, Newton, Bonfire, Merv. I love to play them multiple players but Emara and Newton are definitely great solo. Just curious, if they are available online, Newton, Anacrony, Barrage, Gaia are all on BGA, and Underwater Cities, Bonfire, Newton are on Yukata, why not play there instead of solo
I do play those online at times on BGA. I don’t play on Yukata. However, the main reason I like playing solo is that I can play at my pace (which is usually much faster than people take their turn) and I can play what I want when I want. Sometimes, it can be tough to find an open game for exactly what I am looking to play.
Such an interesting list - I think I have several of these (My Anachrony is the original box and I don't have Barrage, Bonfire, or Cooper Island. Gaia Project is on it's way. I have not played Newton yet - I'll have to pull that one out. I don't like super super hard games so will skip those (too many other options that maybe let me win occasionally. Nice choices!
I don’t but you have given me another idea for another Top 10 list. I am not sure if everyone’s definition of medium is the same as mine, but we will see!
I think all of these that I showed had solo variants that worked very well. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be on my list. Perhaps I don’t understand your dilemma comment?
It is a great game for solo, especially after they added so much with the recent expansions. The only problem with it is the very long setup time. Other than that, it is a great experience.
