Great video! I’m brand new to the Apple ecosystem. If I purchase the Apple Watch series 3 gps and not the cellular version, will I still receive texts and email notifications? Thank you!
Silent alarm. I get up early for exercise and don’t want to wake my wife. The silent alarm tapping my wrist wakes me up. Silent ringing as well. In an office environment, ringing mobiles are distracting but my phone is always on silent and my watch taps my arm for incoming calls. Simple, but the simple things make life easy
Chef it takes no more than 2 hr to charge and for me lasts 48 hrs use (that’s all alerts etc turned on, Apple Pay for everything, some calls and SMS done by watch) so I charge my Apple Watch after dinner every couple of days then put it back on my wrist before bed. I suppose people who use it to track running & riding (I use a Wahoo Elemnt for that) only get 24 hrs
@@sphexie At least Siri doesn't trigger lige google home. Every time someone says "okay" in a podcast, tv show or literally anything, my google home devices are triggered, even though the trigger is "okay google"...
Let’ face it: if you have to actively look up reasons why you could possibly need something - you probably don’t need it. That being said, I still want it.
that phrase is very misleading for apple products. some features are not relatable to you at all while other features make or break your entire reason for the purchase.
I have to admit, Apple Pay on my Watch made my trip to London so much easier. Just straight through the turnstiles for the Tube and onto the bus, didn't need to get my wallet or anything out. Amazingly simple
Hello Jude, it is impressive how much use outside of the US you can get with Apple Pay. I do like it is getting better in the US. I use it every chance I can. I have only used my watch a handful of times. It makes more sense now to use the watch so you can keep the phone and wallet in the pocket.
Craig's Tech Talk I agree. I was actually shocked just how easy it is and how high the payment threshold. I had accidentally left my card at home without realizing, and went to the store. The total was over 100€ and it went through on Apple Pay. I had thought it was 30€ max, but I was so glad it wasn’t on that day lol
That’s great that it was high enough. I had forgot my wallet recently and was glad to see that the little hardware store took Apple Pay. The good thing is that Apple Pay needs a pin or biometrics to protect that high payment limit.
As a person with ADHD I use it all the time for setting reminders when I think of something. Even something 10 minutes away I get distracted. If we ever have a pandemic the touchless pay is simply the best. Keeping up to date with shares and notes is also cool. I could not do without it and when asked by my wife why I bought it didn’t know! I just wanted one! As a small business owner I can answer enquiries immediately and that more than pays for the watch! Good move!
Just like the iPad, when they first came out you couldn’t see the point of them, after a couple of months use you couldn’t live without one. For those of us with older Macs (2015 MacBook Pro) the unlock with Apple Watch feature is 👌🏾. My other main uses are Apple Pay and responding to messages.
Music controls is great. It is especially nice if the phone is in your pocket like you said. To be able to play, pause, change track and volume is great. Thanks for sharing and watching.
I resisted the idea of owning an Apple Watch until I was diagnosed with heart failure. On the day when I was discharged from the hospital, my cardiologist suggested that I might want to buy one, because it has several features for monitoring my heart health (and my blood oxygen level, which can be an issue if my heart isn't performing efficiently). Series 7 was the current model at that time, but I knew I could save money by buying an older model. I determined that a Series 4 or later would provide the heart health features I needed. But I opted for Series 6, because that's the model that added Fall Detection. I'm 62 years old and I live alone, so a feature that can call emergency services and notify my family if I fall and become unresponsive seems like a REALLY good idea. And my iPhone can't do that. I've had the watch for three months, and I keep finding new uses for it. I definitely don't regret buying it. And it just may help keep me alive.
Hello Patrick, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am glad to hear you got an Apple Watch to help look out for you help. That fall detection is a great one to have. I hope it gives you and your family some peace of mind. Thank you for sharing your experience and for watching. Stay healthy Patrick.
Also, because I’m a grownup I called my husband from my watch while I was in the shower and he was in the living room. I asked him if it was raining in there too.
ApolloMemories my screen popped off and when I contacted Apple they asked if I used it in the shower because the heat can weaken the silicone and other adhesives.
Michael Hidalgo what the fuck that’s insane, thank you for telling me that. I’m going to research around but I won’t be taking my watch in the hot shower any time soon.
I just love that it takes away the stress of having to constantly check my phone. I rely on reminders and calendar events to help me remember what I need to do every day, mainly at uni but also in day to day life. I don't like carrying my phone in my hand, but I don't want to miss any reminders. The watch is always on me and I can walk away from my devices if I want but still make sure I don't miss reminders or important messages. Some people think constantly having a device attached to you makes you more addicted to technology, but for me it's so freeing because I don't have to pick up my phone all the time - I can just check the notification on my watch, if it's important I go and attend to it, if it's not I carry on with my day! Perfect little device that has been a game changer and helped me remember everything I need to do. 😄
That is great that you are feeling free from your phone with it. That is one of the biggest benefits I see too. Like you said, you can put the phone down and get notifications for things you may need to attend. We need our phones for work and communication. To get away from the distractions of the phone is nice. Thanks for sharing and watching.
I so agree with you. Apple Watch really helps you to be more carefree, as you don't need to constantly check your phone. When I come home, I just leave iPhone somewhere and I'm still connected, available and reachable.
@@jewelnabq01i would recommend it if you can afford it! You can always cancel the cellular plan if you feel like you don’t need it. Personally I always end up coming back to it, it’s only £5 a month for me. I like being able to go out of the house carrying nothing :) I also have AirPods now so those with the watch are perfect!
Hello Brett, glad to hear you’re enjoying your 3. Joe, I am using the cellular version. I think it’s great to be able to disconnect from the phone. The big changes between the 3 and 5 are the screen size, the processor and always on display. The 4 was the biggest change and the 5 is minor upgrade from the 4. Thank you both for watching.
Thank you very much Robert. I don’t know where to get one cheap. I would hold off on getting one until after the next Apple event that is supposed to bring the 6. Then you should see some good deals on existing stock.
Great top ten list - I think calendar reminders and messages with the ability to dictate are my favorites. But I also have a chronograph face with complications that are designed for walking - temp. Workout, AQI, Activity - all make a nice “workout face”.
My number one use is for my series 5 is the work out app. I am obsessed with closing my workout rings everyday! Learned a lot though from your video! Great video. You have a new subscriber!
Thank you Bruce for the nice comment. I am glad that you enjoyed the video. That is great that you are finding that extra motivation with closing your rings. It is nice that it can help with your help. I appreciate you watching and wanting to stick around for future videos. Thanks Bruce.
Never had an Apple Watch until this summer. Bought the Series 5 Apple Watch - space black titanium 44mm case, with the space black stainless steel Milanese loop. It’s amazing. I can wear it anywhere and it looks just as gorgeous as any top tier mechanical watch, and then I switch the band out and it’s a full blown water proof/ sweat resistant workout machine that tracks my long road bike workouts or weight lifting sessions. I love checking my heart rate too so I can actually see how hard my body is currently working. Also, the cellular feature is super dope. I didn’t even know that there were different versions until my buddy who works at Best Buy told me. It’s so dope because I now just leave my phone at home when I go for long bike rides, and don’t have to worry about my phone falling out of my pocket or extra weight in my pockets. And the Apple Pay is super nice I leave my phone and wallet at home and can stop at the gas station for a quick drink!
Hello Marlene, my apologies for the delayed response. Thank you very much. I am glad that you enjoyed the video. Thank is great that you are finding so much value in your watch. Thank you for watching and sharing.
I’m hoping to be able to use mine for BBQ cooking. I hope it will take a load off of me trying to keep track of how long each item has been in the smokers, cook times, when to wrap, etc.
Really useful!! Ive had an apple watch 4 for a couple of years and my use grew and grew! Voice input is brilliant, setting alarms and reminders, sending quick messages, recording streaks, logging food intake, wrist based payment, step & exercise tracking & timer, weather checking, heart rate monitoring (handy way to make sure doing aerobic exercise), navigation, multiple watch faces (home, exercise, travelling, work), using my photos as background, music/audiobook/podcast storage and control, torch, TV remote, tapping in and out when using public transport and more! Saves me getting my phone out or carrying it around at times. And the slopped sides and thin body means I can wear it with a shirt without cuffs getting caught. I've previously had a Garmin, Samsung, Sony and Pebble watch (I use iOS and Android).
Thank you for sharing your uses. You are putting your watch to use. I do like the different faces for home, exercise, traveling and work. That’s a great idea.
@@CraigsTechTalk the other thing I forget was that I listen to audio from my iPhone linked to a blue tooth speaker. I use my Apple watch to pause, play skip etc. It saves me having to pick up my phone if, for example I'm doing something in the kitchen and my iPhone is charging elsewhere. I use android and iOS and the apple watch is definitely worth it for my uses! Also, using a simple watch face, just with the time means my apple watch 4 always shows when I turn my wrist. And if I want extra information I swipe across or use Siri. At home I use a different watch face (and when exercising or travelling).
That's so strange... This video was supposed to convince me to get an Apple Watch, but it actually proved to me why I didn't need one. Literally all of those features are already on my iPhone (except ECG/heart rate). I was going to say that I'd probably use the podcast/audiobook/music feature of the Watch, but I bring my phone with my everywhere anyway (including my runs). People would argue "Why not just get a Watch so you don't have to bring your phone?" My argument against that is "Why not just bring your phone and save the $500??". The Activity/Workout/Heart Rate/ECG feature was also drawing me to the Watch, but if you're a young and experienced lifter/runner, does it matter?... Maybe once I'm 40 I'll get my first Apple Watch and that's 12 years away. In 12 years, I bet we've already got tech implanted into our brains, so I don't think I'll ever get an Apple Watch at this rate. This video's actually convinced me that the Apple Watch is literally a luxury item. It's not a "need". I have no doubt that it's 100% a "want".
I am glad that the video helped with your buying decision. I think it is better to see what it can do before spending the money. The biggest thing about the Apple Watch is not replacing your phone, but instead not having to always interact with your phone. Of course your phone will do almost everyone of these features. This is meant for people who want to use the fitness side, do things without pulling out their phone or walk away from the phone and still be able to get information they want. If that is not you, then definitely don’t buy one and just use your phone. I don’t think this is a luxury item at its price point. But rather a device for people who want to handle information differently than you. Thank you for watching. Have a great day.
You are welcome. I don’t think you meant any I’ll-will with your comment. I just offered my own response and do think it is great that it helped you decide you didn’t need one. It’s easy to think a product might be a good match and it isn’t after you learn more about it. Thanks for your comment and response.
@@kvncnls no missed calls and urgent messages ever esp when peeing and whe phone is left in another room. Check the comments to see msny things not mentioned in the video. Airtags are coming soon. But tile is also helpful
these points are so true! it really is a luxury item. i think i’m mostly wanting an apple watch bc from my experience of owning a watch that tracks my fitness (i own a huawei gt) it motivates me to keep active and sleep better (sleep tracking). also one thing i notice is that i pull out my phone less and so i’m tempted to mindlessly scroll on random social media.. also i don’t constantly check my phone now. but it does make me wonder what i’ll use my phone for now 😂 but yeah i think its especially useful for older people though (emergency calls, ECGs). i’m also going to be a doctor soon so i’m going to be on my feet & busy most of the time and i think the notifications feature and being able to set reminders really quickly will help a lot.
I think in summary its utility is largely dependent on your occupation - if you are sedentary at a desk ... not so much, use the phone - moving about .... much more useful.
I luv using my watch to make and receive calls when I’m driving, working on my computer, and just relaxing on my lounge chair. It the perfect accessory for your iPhone, I highly recommend it to anyone with a iPhone.
i have the series 3 and i love it! the only thing i wish it has is camera, working cellular for not supported countries, spotify downloads and no buttons/holes to improve water resistance. then im good to go. i dont need a phone.. sadly those features might never be a reality..but im still hoping
New Jersey I knew it lol. All good, relevant tips. Soon we’ll just have a watch and a super thin foldout Bluetooth screen. I called that in the early ‘90s.
I love how if you have deep pockets and your phone is deep inside them someone calls you, instead of looking for your phone and missing that important call you can just flick the answer on the watch. It’s so convenient actually
i keep asking my mom for an apple watch😭 everyone in my household has a smart watch but me, but i’ve always really wanted one. but i don’t know why i actually want it. so i’m watching this video to explain to my parents why i want one 🤣🤣
That is a cool use. It is nice to be able to start the GoPro recording. Along those lines, using it as a remote for the iPhone camera is nice too. Thanks for sharing and watching.
I get it but what about Apple Pay (especially in age of Covid) 2 factor authentication Opening your computer when you sit down without touching it! Weather!
Those are also some great uses. Thank you for sharing Phillip and for some watching. The authentication and opening the computer is handy. I have recently started using Apple Pay more on the watch since COVID. I made this video Pre COVID or would have pointed that out more.
@@CraigsTechTalk well you had me at "what do you need an Apple Watch for?" and I felt the same way, now like you I find it so handy its on my wrist unless its charging :-). great video thank you for makiing it.
My adult kids bought me the Series 7 for Christmas due to some heart issues of mine. I use it all the time - thanks for a couple of tips I did not know about.
Would love if you compared it with google 😊 I’m in progress of new phone and I’m lost😩 I have a smart home and a couple of nest mini, today I use a iPhone XS and apple watch but Siri is kinda stupid compared with google 🥴 often Siri lights up my hole house when I tell her to open the garage door🤷♂️ it never happens with google... often Siri mess up commands... But I’m not sure a Samsung phone and a android watch will work as good overall as a iPhone and Apple Watch do together 🥴
I just ordered my series 5. I’m upgrading from the Nike series 1. So, for the most part I’m expecting a large jump in performance and control of the watch itself. I use my Nike series day one watch for almost everything already, but it’s starting to slow down quite a bit so I’m excited for this big upgrade.
Thanks for this informative video. My first ever Apple watch is being delivered today and I CAN'T WAIT! My husband has the original watch (Series 1) that was a hand-me-down from our son a couple of years ago. I had my trusty Fitbit which seemed enough for me at the time. Fitbit stopped working several months ago and I've sorely missed it (not to mention feeling less motivated to get moving). Decided to upgrade and splurged on a series 5 due to a Memorial Day sale. Now just trying to figure out all the things to do with it. Any favorite apps you would suggest?
Hello Sonja, that is great that you are getting your first Apple Watch. Very cool. I hope you enjoy it. It should be a nice step up from your Fitbit. As for favorited apps, most everything I use are the stock apps. The stock apps pretty much take care of everything I use. I do like have the Audible app for audiobooks right on the watch. I like my alarm system app that allows me to arm and disarm from my watch. I like to use Todoist for list and task. Every once in a while I will use the Starbucks app to pay for coffee right from my watch. Thanks for watching. Have a fun with your new watch.
I own one and honestly it’s mostly useless (at least for me). It’s cool to have wearable tech but my phone does everything my watch can do better than my watch can do it. The only thing I’ve found useful about this watch is gps is less distracting than it being on my phone. But that’s literally the only thing I find truly useful.
I was feeling that way for a while. I understand where you are coming from. I think the great part is that it can do as little or as much as you want from it. Even if it just for telling time and use it for gps. Thanks for watching.
Craig's Tech Talk some people definitely get more used out of it. My coworkers text on shit using them all the time. I just forget to even put it on half the time lol. Anyways great vid!
For someone like me who only uses an iPad because my old phone is trash an Apple Watch is on my “must buy but can’t yet” list because it’s small and easy to take places and is useful other than a big iPad lol
That is great that it was able to save your life. That definitely is a device worth having. Glad to hear it was there for you. Thank you for sharing and watching.
Am I the only one who while listening to this guy’s voice swore I was listening to David Lee Roth telling me all about the Apple Watch? 🤣 Great information by the way. Thanks for the video.
Thank you very much. That is funny. Something I never heard before. But isn’t the worse thing to be compared to one of the greatest rockers of the 80s and possibly all time 😀🎤
My wife travels a lot for work, and sometimes I drive her, if I have a few days off. If she wants to sleep, I usually listen to music to stay awake to drive, so I stream Apple Music through my AirPods. I typically will listen to albums/playlists on long trips. If I were to touch my phone while I’m driving, the bright light from my phone will wake her up. So if I want to skip or pause a song, I use my Apple Watch to navigate, instead of my iPhone, so that the light from my iPhone will not wake her up.
That is very nice of you to drive your wife so she can sleep. Also very considerate to use the watch for controls. I like that you have it dialed in for that and navigation. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
Great video , wife and I are getting 2 for Christmas. We are old and I felt the need to keep up with each other. I bought the SE's Because the salesman said the EKG and Ox sensor were not accurate ??? Will the Walkie Talkie be useful ? Thank you. Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season !
I just got myself a series 7, mainly for the accident detection. I mountain bike alone quite often & it makes my wife less anxious to know I could at least get help if I hurt myself, which I have done so badly on 2 occasions in last 2 years. Let's hope I never have to us it in earnest. Great vid, cheers
ItalianStallion depends what is your needs for me it’s brilliant I’m always on the go doing jobs home don’t want a phone in my pocket change songs on watch and answer calls on watch while doing jobs. Also I drive a lot the vibration on wrist before you are told on sat navigation where to go next is brilliant gets you prepared I use it for so much more. But everyone’s has their opinions
Dude....It will show your ex texts on watch, which you can't hide from your wife, who is sitting next to you. That's a big reason for not to buy !!!! Lol....
Good point. Definitely should be careful with that one. Luckily you can turn off having it pop up. Thanks for watching and the food for thought for some people out there.
Why does my Apple Watch SE model say driving directions not available, it asks me for the specific location ( just like your video) and then I get a message saying directions not available?
