Favorite FF key would have to be have to be #5, well because DOOM. And #20 just because of what a pivotal character Molecule Man would be. Plus the George Martin fan letter is such a cool gem. Great video! 👏
Recently completed my FF 1-100 run. Working on 101-250 as well as upgrading when good opportunities present themselves. The toughest to land for me was actually FF5. While you can find them, finding a good deal on it takes a lot of time and patience.
Fantastic Four books had been my favorites growing up in the 60s. I really enjoyed your video, it brings up great memories. The best time period for comics (writing/stories) was when Marvel introduced The Inhumans, then Galatus & the Silver Surfer, and finally introducing the Black Panther. It would be hard to find a better time period than that.
I was a huge fan of the FF and Jack Kirby as a silver age kid, and I have a run from #15 to 101. I have always wanted to complete that run, but it is doubtful that will happen. It would be too much money in my opinion to complete it, but I will take my time and be patient; but the cost seems beyond what I am willing to pay at this time, especially for #'s 1 and 5.
@@AutomaticComics my favorite FF cover is actually #72 as SilverSurfer is my favorite character in this series - but FF 49 being his first cover appearance just ranks a little higher from a significance for me.
I occasionally like these videos. But honestly, you and many others, have a real way of sucking the fun out of the hobby. If I never hear the words percent and corrected ever again I’d be good with that.
Hey Ryan, this is Bob in Ridgefield Connecticut. I love this video I had every fantastic four at one time.. anyway, I want your opinion on amazing Spider-Man 1 6.5 that sold on eBay for $11,600 last week I think on September 26. Definitely sounds like NOT REAL sale . Usually it goes for close to $30,000 a few months ago one of the 6.5 sold on eBay for $35,000. . No way in hell you can get this book for that cheap.. what do you think?😳😳😳
Great subject - thanks for putting in the research! I’ve been debating about getting the copy of FF 45 at my lcs, priced at $115… looks to be a 3.0-3.5.. tempting, plus no delivery fees and a discount if I pay cash.
FF #2 - Affordable option for those that can’t get the funds for a #1, I love 2nd appearance Silver Age keys. Also, first appearance of the Skrulls - Probably one of the most relevant villains in the Marvel Universe, The fact that they have infiltrated Earth and have been hiding amongst us since the 1960’s I like #3 being it’s the first time we see the FF in their traditional blue uniforms, For me it’s like first Green Hulk and first Golden Armor Iron Man. I’m also a big fan of FF #6, First Marvel Super Villain Team-Up, 2nd appearance of Doctor Doom and 2nd Silver Age Sub Mariner. Very surprised you didn’t give this issue an honorable mention
@@AutomaticComics I’m sure it’s quite a bit of work, Very detailed and informative. The list is great as is.. I’m sure if all your subscribers got a book they like added to the list, The list would be a mile long and take months to put together.
I got my FF 45 & 46 in 2019, ahead of the covid/spec spike Ryan, and they were a 5.5 and 8.0 respectively. I loved the Inhumans stories as a kid. Owning their first appearances feels good 👍
Uhhh.. the current prices sting.. bought ff 2,3 and for just a few years ago... lucky me, the ff2, was signed by stan, but still.. the prices.. oh my ;( Still missing #1, 5, 21, 33 and 36 to complete 1-100.
I have a Fantastic Four #4 in cgc 8.5. When do I sell? I have nothing into it for reasons I can't explain, but I thought it would be a $22K book by now. Tempted to squish it into a 9.0.
I have FF2 in a UK price variant. I personally would pay a premium for the UK but I’ve heard it said that the UK price hurts the value. What do you think?
Typically it does hurt the value of the book. More people want the cents copies do the increased demand means higher numbers even though there are less pence copies out there.
You can’t always rely on the stupid auctions to value books. Comic dealers sell books all the time outside auctions. GPA is not the ultimate authority. Don’t think you can buy key books like these for the last GPA sale. No one is going to sell an FF #2 in 4.0 for $1650. Whoever paid that got a steal!
