The fastest weren’t on here, apart from Mark Wood. Fastest all time were Jeff Thomson, Frank Tyson, Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee, Michael Holding, Patrick Patterson and occasionally Mark Wood and Malcolm Marshall. I’ve seen all of them live except Tyson. Thomson 1974-76 easily the quickest as players of that era and later will attest. Hadlee and McGrath were way slower than Lillee, who was significantly slower than Thomson at his peak. But the best were Marshall, Hadlee, Imran, Ambrose, Lillee, Garner, Steyn and McGrath.

Andy Roberts was (marginally) slower than Jeff Thompson at his peak. Timed a few 10ths of a second slower after being burned out from an entire season for Hampshire

@@nickcebalo2709 simply not true. I saw them live and on TV many times in the mid-70s and Thomson clearly quicker than Roberts and the rest. Numerous players said he was the quickest they faced - Gavaskar, Lloyd etc. No idea which timing you’re referring.

@@jonrichardson8461 it's an opinion. Relax. Other people are also allowed one too. Or a contribution to your conversation- my apologies. The speed I was referring to was the first fast bowling competition. No I can't remember the EXACT speeds (better things to do) but let's say Thompson 160.1 Roberts 159.7 or something similar. Many other people on here (who were also at the cricket in the early 70s) have backed up what I said. Why you're more knowledgable I have no idea. Feel free to enlighten everyone- or don't. Don't really care other than people such as yourself contradicting everyone else's opinions (when that's all your own is) really shit me. Learn some manners.

Imran Khan, wasn't better than Steyn, Ambrose or Lilee, in any possible way. In fact, you should have put him at no. 10. There is a thing called - Degree of difficulty, which a bowler creates for a batsman, and Imran was nowhere as difficult as the other guys.

Congratulations! You got that mostly wrong. If you are going to make claims in your title ‘Fastest of all time’ at least research the subject properly. This could have been done by a 6 year old.

Thanks for trying. If the topic is who is the fastest bowler of all time, the title goes Jeff Thompson. He nearly bowled 6 byes multiple times in career. He is simply freighting.

Absolutely correct. This video is unfortunately nonsense & a lack of knowledge. In Test's, Jeff Thomson is still the fastest clocked Test Bowler of All-time & his 3x fastest ball's, are quicker than 2nd place. Thommo clocked 160.45kmh, 160.45kmh & 160.60kmh. Mitchell Starc 2nd @ 160.40kmh, Andy Robert's 3rd @ 159.49kmh. Akhtar, Tate & Lee, broke 100mph in ODI white ball cricket. None of them exceeded 157.40kmh in Test's. Thommo would have surpassed them comfortably in ODI with the white ball. Frank Tyson no doubt would be up there, as would Dennis Lillee, pre back injury in 1972. DK would have been very close to 100mph.

A random bowling competition does not settle the question of who is the fastest. That question can only be settled in the gladiatorial arena of one on one competition. And, as such, the I C C failed to time history's fastest bowlers on a regular basis. For instance, Michael Holding was not timed in April 1976 when he destroyed India in Jamaica with such murderous speed that 4 players, including the Captain, Bishen Bedi, refused to bat in both innings. No one who was there would question the fact that he was bowling faster than 100 mph. The same is true at Bridgetown,Barbados, in 1981. Then,of course, the devastation he melted out to Dennis Amiss and England,on their dead pitches, has never been matched to this day. Then there's Sylvester Clark, clocked at 101 mph in 1983,in South Africa, where he brutalised that team with the most fearsome bowling anyone has ever seen. Andy Roberts was a mere two hundredths slower than Thomson, but had he been timed without playing so much county cricket in 1974,would have been clocked at 100 mph as well. We do not have regular clocked speeds for any of world's fastest bowlers during the 70s and 80s,in particular, and so,to say Thomson was the fastest when he wasn't is just living in delusion.
