Not that anyone cares, but: 1. The Beatles: Ever since I was little, I remember listening to The Beatles on the radio and just falling in love with them. My love only grew when my dad bought me Beatles Rockbound and my mom handed down her White album to me. Paul McCartney is and always will be one of my favorite musicians. They have had a huge impact on my musical style (just like Mike) and my music taste. 2. Soundgarden: First of all, thanks Dad for having me listen to Black Hole Sun and the entirety of Superunknown when I was little. Chris Cornell has and always will be (most likely) my favorite vocalist. His vocals just cannot be compared, whether it's in Soundgarden, Audioslave, or by himself. But also, Kim Thayil's weird ass guitar riffs are always fun to listen to. 3. Pearl Jam: Again, I love Eddie's voice, but what makes Pearl Jam so high on my list is the fact that Eddie's lyrics are so beautiful. Everyone credits Kurt Cobain as having the most amazing lyrics, but Eddie literally can write a song all about how rats are more caring for each other than humans... That's how powerful his lyrics are. Also, Mike McCready is an incredibly underrated guitarist. 4. The Who Love Reign O'er Me is actually my favorite song, so The Who just has to be on my list for that fact. Also, I love how the band uses raw materials in their songs, like the actual rain in LROM. 5. Nothing But Thieves Oh no, not a new band! Yes, they're super cool and different. Also, their songs are catchy as hell and while simple, Conor Mason's voice is so cool in how it fits over Dom and Joe's guitars. 6. Pink Floyd I love how they incorporate actual object sounds--like clocks in Time and cash registers in Money--into their songs, it's anxiety inducing and really makes you intrigued into what's to come. Also, they're super trippy. 7. Black Sabbath Two words: War Pigs. 8. Bob Marley I grew up with Bob Marley and not including him on this list would be dumb. I don't listen to much reggae, but obviously Bob Marley is essential and I just have to say, I love Concrete Jungle so much. 9. Rush Alex. Geddy. Neil. Three of the best musicians in each of their respective instrumental fields (Geddy for bass). They're awesome and the turntable mat that I have is actually the 2112 Starman. 10. The Beaches These girls are awesome and actually really original. I've just recently gotten into their music and have to say, it is incredible and fun. Also, I'd like to thank my dad who introduced me to 8/10 of these bands (of course I introduced him to the other two). My top ten is going to be: 1. Pantera If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have continued playing guitar after the first month. I truly, in all of my heart, believe that Dimebag is the greatest riff and solo writer, of all time, period. The entire band will always be a huge influence in my music writing along with #2 and 3. 2. Slayer Because fucking slayer 3. Dream Theater Do I really have to say anything? 4. Metallica Along with Dimebag, James is my #1 riffwriter and Metalli 5. Eminem If it weren't for him, I'd never start listening to rap, which in turn would have made me never listen to... 6. Slipknot The first metal band I ever listened to. The Devil in I is still one of my favourite riffs ever, and if it weren't for them I would have never picked up the guitar. 7. Tupac I firmly believe that Tupac is the greatest rapper and lyric writer of all time. His songs really influenced me as a person and a musician. 8. Tech n9ne Tech n9ne is in my opinion the best modern rapper(counting Eminem as old school), who I still listen to regularly, and if it weren't for his song "Wither" featuring Corey Taylor, I would have never started listening to Slipknot, which was my gateway into metal and guitar. 9. Arch Enemy The band that got me into heavier music, and a just all around incredible band 10. Five Finger Death Punch. I discovered their music early on in my metal journey, they are along with slipknot what made me pick up the guitar, and they were the first band I ever saw live. Unforgettable experience.
