Yeah, but on the other hand - the defender also did not realize that the keeper is inside the goal?! The header was clearly aimed at the goalkeeper (or where he'd usually be), in order for him to be allowed to catch the ball.

Besides, there was still the goal-music playing when his team scored....so he obviously assumed the game hasn't been started again...

Melvs as a defender I blame the defender, you never pass the ball to the keeper without making sure he is ready, as soon as that ball bounced he should have been screaming at the keeper to be ready for the pass. Obviously he has to take some blame but I think the defender is the main culprit given the circumstances

ayske1 Yeah that's what I meant when I said the keeper has to take some blame but a defender should never play the ball to their Keeper unless they make sure the keeper is ready to receive it.

I just realized for #4, he thinks the penalty spot is the ball - you can see it in the last replay, he glances downward ever so slightly and in his peripheral vision he mistakes the white penalty spot for the ball.

The second I saw the title I knew what the #1 was going to be. Even when I'll be 90 and demented, I'll still remember Piplica and that goal. Mark Flekken isn't that far behind though. Even if he thought his team scored, did his brain switched off that second and not see the linesman raising his flag, the other gk taking a free kick, everybody running, the ball flying for 20 seconds? What's there to be gained by being that inattentive?

0:53 #8 Mathias Hain -- Without his intervention the goal would not have happened. He recovered the ball that was going out and passed it straight to Boubacar Sanogo. That goal also decided Kaiserslautern victory.
