Niko Bellic is one of my favorite protagonists of all time, he may come across as depressing and suffered a lot from his past, but he is a legend, and what I like about Niko is that he's sarcastic, funny, intelligent and memorable

Niko was the most realistic character, in the most realistic story. Tommy is the coolest one, and the one who took matters into his own hands from the very beginning. But my favorite will always be CJ, because he can do everything, he's cool, funny, and lives in the best virtual reality. He managed to live a lot of different lives during the gametime and make some amazing decisions for a gangster.

Niko Cj Michael Nikos story in IV was perfectly written in every sense of the word, he’s a legend in my eyes. Once you become emotionally attached to a video game character they’re seen differently from that point on through your eyes and that’s exactly how I see niko, he’s the perfect gta character. Cj is amazing too but his story has a lot more action packed shootouts and death and destruction while nikos kills were personal and you felt the same way niko did during most of the scenes👌🏻

Victor Vance had an emotional scene it's barely mentioned

My personal favorite is Tommy. Nostalgia blinded for sure Vice City was the first GTA I played and beat... but man I thought Tommy was clam, collected, and had some cool one liners for the time.

Claude survived 9 years with Catalina, that says a lot about his personality if you ask me.

Tommy vervetti is #1 for me, vice city was one of the first video games I ever played, and hearing him taunt the cops and be a wise ass to all these people was definitely a major factor in getting me into video games

For me the best character in GTA is Tommy Vercetti he is so damn cool, and he is my favorite bcz he is so serious, strong and he also defeated all vice city alone, in my opinion, he is best, and CJ is good 2 but he cant follow the damn train

I remember Victor Vance being one of the first protagonists that I really took a liking to in GTA VCS. Just a really down to earth and rather relatable character in the way the he acts and responds to the situations and consequences that are given to him throughout the story. Has great character background as well. Just an all round great GTA protagonist.

"Franklin is a young ambitious man looking to get out of the ghetto and avoid the gang banging lifestyle" that's not relatable lol? That's probably the most realistic backstory for a GTA character lol. Do you know any ex high profile thieves with family issues or deranged ex military pilots?

Niko is by far the best. Recently having played all GTA games from III to V, Niko still is the best written character and the most interesting one. It's hard to get a better protagonist for a GTA game than him.

Hey i actually like Toni Cipriani. I think he meshes well with the theme of the game. Isnt every gta character basically a yes-man? Toni makes that inescapable lapdog thug structure of GTA somewhat grounded (I think toni does a better job at this than trevor, who just feels too cartoony and obnoxious for me). Hes a loyal psychopath with repressed emotional issues. I like to think his rampages are his frustrations with his mom bursting from the seams, taking his anger out on enemies and innocent bystanders alike... I want to see Toni as Leone don, set after gta3, trying to balance the job of resurrecting the Leone family and dealing with his own mother's death. Turn the character around to be the leader for once, see how he deals with not having somebody to follow obediently like his mom or boss... the character is great, i just think Rockstar royally under- utilized his potential.

My 3 favorite gta characters are: 1) Michael (because he does anything to survive and help his family) 2) Tommy (because he had a smart plan to make money without getting caught) 3) CJ (because he helped his family and friends a lot)

I agree, niko is the best character. He's an honest honorable man, he has so much good in him but is trapped in a life of crime and is scarred by the ugliness of this world. I'm so sad because he didn't get a happy ending which in a way makes him even more relatable as a character because most of us in life have suffered similarly.

You know, one thing i like about the 3D universe (specifically the trilogy) is that they made the protagonists connected to the environment of the cities they were in, unlike the newer ones or 2d ones where it was just an average Joe looking maniac ig. Like Cj dressed and behaved like a gangster from the guetto (like San Andreas) Tommy with the iconic shirt in vice on the beach; and Claude (imo at least) being the most accurate representation of liberty city: cold, grim, creepy, dark(in a sinister and psychopasthic way). That’s why Claude is #1 on my list

CJ, Niko, and Micheal will forever be my favorites.

As a young teen and a kid. I loved CJ, because he was gangsta. But growing up, being a young adult, Niko is kinda more relatable, more mysterious and deeper. That's what's make him a better character. He was more relatable in real life.

Niko Bellic is my personal favourite because he’s had a hard life and he tries to help his cousin get money and save his life and to find someone and also escape from Ray Bulgarian because he apparently owed him money and is betrayed and you know when he finally succeeds he gets his girlfriend or his cousin killed by Dimitri rascalov or Jimmy pegg and in the end after revenge and everything he wants he regrets most of it and feels lonely and depressed like zac said I reckon he’s the best and most well written character in the whole GTA series

I totally agree with the number 2 & 1 spot bro! Back in the day Luis was my favorite but now I’m older Luis is my number 2 for being the most relatable AND likable character in gta history tbh. Niko is now my number one because he story is so raw and cold. My number 3 is Vince from VCS cuz that was the first gta game I ever beat and played for the story.

Ever. #2 Tommy Vercetti: Epitome of GTA badassery without being totally psychotic like Trevor. #3 Michael De Santa: Greatly written with many flaws like any real criminal would have. #4 Carl Johnson: Relatable, good developmente through the game from hood mentality to wanting to leave the hood behind. #5 Johnny Klebitz: Another flawed character, good story, loyal to the brotherhood and with a sad ending for a change. #6 Trevor: Really interesting at the beginning but gets boring and annoying as the game progresses. #7 Tony Cipriani: Kind of boring but at least he makes sense as through the whole game. #8 Franklin: Cool but after the first heist becomes totally forgotten in the story, just busts some cars and chooses the ending. #9 Victor Vance: I like the guy but his attitude makes no sense. Says "I don't wanna sell drugs" while bulding a drug empire. #10 Luis López: Just bitches about everything through the whole game. People like him because he gets pussy and he's "cool". #11 Claude Speed: I know he's from a 2001 game but... he is no character at all.

CJ motive wasn't just to get rich, it was to impress his brother because he had guilt for leaving his brother Brian, and getting revenge on those that killed his mother, then get to the closest friends he thought they were but betrayed them, I love how cj went from a hood guy to be a rapping manager, having a garage in San fierro and being close with the Chinese mafia and being partners with one of the big leagues in it and having a part of a casino, but what he only wanted is making his. brother proud.

My favorite is Toni Cipriani reasons why 1.He is someone you can trust because salvatore paid him 500k instead of a million at the end of lcs but he doesn't hold a grudge against him 2.He did the most brutal kill by dismbering casa and selling the meat to his deli 3.Unlike the other protagonist he blew up a part of Staunton island which means he possibly killed many civilians.

There is just something about playing as an Italian guy in a 1980's Miami theme that is so catchy to me and the name Tommy Vercetti is such a SEXY name it's why I enjoyed playing Vice city in the definitive edition much more. The same with Tony Cipriani I love that he was such a badass looking mafia character that looked something out of goodfellas these are my two favorite Claude is pretty much the poster boy for GTA the one that started it all the black jacket and dark green pants is the iconic look for GTA so these 3

Just like to add one thing, Trevor did not hallucinate his mom being in his trailer, if you go on life invader after you beat the game Ron says something about Trevor’s mom being there
