Zakynthos is absolutely incredible. My husband and I go every year, we love it so much. The fact that it’s less touristy than any island makes it so much better
I stayed in a cottage on a farm there in 2010. We had free use of bicycles and rode around the island during the day, and enjoyed our evenings with the locals in a small nearby taverna. Every morning we'd collect oranges and make our own juice for breakfast. If you time it right, you can see the sea turtles hatch in early fall and watch them return to the ocean.

My gf and I used your videos as inspiration for our trip to Europe (still in Positano!) and your footage, explanations, and recommendations made our trip amazing. We got to experience swimming in Obersee, hiking through the farm sheds at Wagenbrüchsee, cliff jumping at Fiordo di Furore, boating off the Almalfi Coast in our own boat we could drive, and a lot more all thanks to your videos. Can’t thank you enough and I’m sure whatever my next adventure is, your videos will play a part in it!
@RyanShirley hard to pick one but from all the ones I been from Corfu , kafelonia, Paxos, Zakinthos, Crete and Rhodes I will say Kafelonia Very chilled and hardly any tourists. a true Greek experience!

Santorini is for honey moons, girls having a hens party and instagrams people who call themselves influencers (whether they influence or not is debatable) its one of the most commercialised islands along with Mykonos, both islands have lost its Greek culture as a result of being purely commercially driven, they are by far the most expensive and best be avoided unless you fit in the a category of the aforementioned. The other islands you reccomened are in fact amazing !
@@jamescarr6394Agreed, I just stayed at Fira, it was quiet. And the view of the caldera was by far the most jaw dropping thing I saw in greece, including Delphi and the Parthenon.
I'm not surprised you like the Greek Islands because you're really into swimming, diving and water activities. Glad you included the Ionian Islands which are so different than the Cyclades with much more vegetation. People often miss them. Milos is becoming an alternative to Santorini with its crowds (another spot overpublicized by the Internet.). It's still my favorite but now very built up and expensive; who ever thought Santorini would have infinity pools and a jet airport? I'm not a big fan of Mykonos, the Ibiza of the Aegean. I'm totally unfamiliar with Zakinthos but those beaches look great. Naxos is another good island and off the beaten track there's Thassos and Samothraki up near Thessaloniki with no so many tourists.

I am probably the only Greek never been to a Greek island. However, from those in this clip, I loved the fishing village at Milos, the one where the sea was at the level of the houses' doors. Stunning.

Milos is my favourite island in Greece! As a Greek, I have travelled almost everywhere in my country, but the island of Milos is by far the best along with Kimolos nearby!

This video was really helpful. I will be going to Greece in a few months and will be on the mainland for a month (work travel), but I want to spend a month relaxing on an island before returning to Canada.

my friend greece is not only islands. it has a wonderful coast to the mainland. i invite you to visit all the beautiful beaches between Lefkada and Kerkyra ( corfu) like beaches of Preveza Monolithi, Artolithia and so on.Also the islands of Paxi and Antipaxi. Paros is an amazing island as well,especially the town of Naousa. I am Greek and have been to most islands,each has its own beauty,hard to select one to be my favorite!

Just depends, a few days on a island could be enough or if you want to take your time a week or two is good! Weather is perfect in august, just a little hot

My mother asked me to choose a place in greece to visit. and honestly i don't know which island to choose. You got any recommendations for a first timer going to greece? I'm not with the party life. rather an place with good food, scenery, nature, beautiful beaches... i don't know. anything but overcrowded and night life. Just the type of guy to enjoy those things i just mentioned. A place for a son and mother to go to.
My favorite island was Zakynthos, insane scenery, another contenders are Milos and Kefalonia. Santorini is nice but overcrowded and I would avoid Mykonos.
