Alright since it's the most common question/complaint by far, no Big Ramy does NOT deserve to make the list. Yes his leg from the side is mind-blowing, but it's mostly quads. That can be seen clearly in the first pic of this video. His hams from the back are nothing special either. 🤷♂️
@Lordeverfall100 He said he's been feeling the fatigue from doing RU-vid for five+ years a lot lately, and it's been feeling more like a second job than an enjoyable hobby. There's no one who does what Tom does as well as he does it, so it's a great loss if he retires his channel. But the guy's gotta do what makes him the most happy :)
Tom your videos are honestly just unmatched man. They’re so in-depth, your sarcastic humor is top-tier, your voice is so nice to listen to, and your videos overall just provide such entertainment and comfort. We love you Tom
Tom. You single handedly made me the bodybuilding nerd that I am today. I first discovered your “best poses of all time series” about 3-4 years ago and I was instantly hooked. Your passion for the sport was undeniable; as was your knowledge of bodybuilders of all generations. That passion (along with your eloquent delivery and great commentary voice!) is what made your videos so addicting. You are the only channel that I check multiple times a week to see if you’ve uploaded a video, and I have to say it’ll be sad to see you go. But I urge you to do what your heart is calling you to do! If you don’t have the passion for bodybuilding that you once possessed, it will show in your videos; as that is one of the things that made your content so special. P.S. some of my favorites over the years have been your best poses series, your 2010-2015 Arnold classic reviews and recently your best body parts series. Wish you the best in whatever you pursue next! Cheers from the States!!
I absolutely treasure your deep insight on bodybuilding, and your thorough analysis is second to none on RU-vid. Hope you find the passion to keep on posting videos from time to time, but you gotta do what makes you the most happy! Regardless, I thank you for everything your videos have taught me.
People are discussing you, leaving this platform. But as long as you upload even once a year, I'm satisfied. because as it is you have already have covered most of body building's history, and history doesnt expand at the rate that online content does. So I'm grateful for all the content you have already made so far. You have my deepest gratitude.
Tom you are my favorite bodybuilding related RU-vidr. Your videos are entertaining and informative. The way you add your own sense of style without making it too distracting is honestly what makes your channel so awesome. You let the bodybuilding content speak for itself while adding your personality. Whatever it is you choose to do just know you have a big fan base here. To be honest, I rewatch a lot of your videos just cuz they are that good…….I can’t be the only one
LETS GOOO BRO I remember a year ago when I found your channel and you were doing this series i love that we got to hamstrings lotta great hams on this list (Nick def deserves a spot in this list glad you put him)
actually, Ronnie had a habit of turns his leg to the front in the side chest to show off his quad more, which in turn takes away from his hamstring sweep. If you look at all his posing videos there's always a split second or two where he prepares to flex his hams when his leg is completely turned to the side and you can see his full side hamstring sweep before he locks in his side chest. Even then its not really his "full" hamstring sweep because he hasn't fully flexed yet, he only fully flexes at the point where his side chest is locked in by which time he already angled his quad to the front. It's a shame but because of his posing technique we never really got to see Ronnie's side chest with a full hamstring sweep.
True, but he only has himself to blame. Same can be said about Yates and his leg positioning in the back shots which made his legs look narrower and smaller than they were because he kept them straight lol, hiding the entire sweep
Tom, you are single handedly the best bodybuilding channel by far. You are the one who got me into bodybuilding.W We love you Tom and I hope that whatever you decide to do with the channel that you find happiness.
@@stevenhuntley3552phil has good calves...what are you talking about. And his midsection only got bad when he got the hernia and after years and years of staying huge. Phil's peak years his is unmatched except by peak Ronnie.
Hamstrings, lower back, forearms and neck are my favorite body parts, it's super rare someone has a proper set of all of them and they look great once they're greatly developed, but unfortunately they are super overlooked on competitions and the judges truly don't care about a complete look.
@@mikthe2004 yeah none of the modern bodybuilders seem to pay much attention to calves which is a shame because when calves are well developed they are a game changer, i mean they sit all by themselves so they stand out so much.....just look at this video and even golden era guys, i mean arnold, dorian, nasser, etc all those guys have way better calves than any modern bodybuilder....that's ridiculous when you understand how much more drugs the modern guys take....
@@oxrjbizzle1984y I think it's also that most modern Open class bodybuilders have overdeveloped thighs, which make their calves look small by comparison. Having said that, even most of the Classic guys and Physique guys have shit calves. In fact the Physique guys especially seem to have sticks for calves!! I understand legs are not a priority as they are wearing boardies - although you can see most of them have OK thighs. But that should be even more reason to develop great calves, as at least you can see them!!
Been watching you since the beginning, brother. You bring an unrivaled level of knowledge and professionalism. Your content is really high quality and you’re not a sell out, which I appreciate. Hope you find joy in the channel. Maybe the algorithm will favor you this Olympia season.
Ever since you began this series ive been waiting for your opinion about whether phil or ronnie had better hamstrings and thank god that you picked phil, id argue that phils glutes are better aswell (better proportioned at least)
Honestly very tough. I think Ronnie's glutes were okay proportioned because of his quadsweep but some consider them overpowering. I'd go with Ronnie bigger, more striated and shredded as well as truly ripped. Phil's are better proportioned and more sunken but I don't think it's enough.
Ramy's hamstrings are dwarfed by his quads, so he was rightfully left off this list. He has great legs in general, sure, but hamstrings are not a strong point for him.
@@jetcape15 The hammies are definitely a strong point, it's just that he has several other strong points too. You can't say that a bodypart isn't strong just because the guy has other strong bodyparts, if you take his hammies and put them next to most guys in history, they'll dwarf the competitor's hammies.
I really hope the Tominator will reconsider leaving the channel,i really enjoy his clips and great comments, thank you sir for the great clips and dedication,be healthy and loved, greetings from a fan from Bulgaria
After Lui left youtube, I already was subscribed to your channel. But then your top notch analysis made me your fan. You are my top 1 bodybuilding channel
I love your videos. They are of the highest quality and show your deep knowledge of bodybuilding, your intelligence, coupled with great oratory skills. Please make a video on the best calves as well.
Tom man it's a shame bro that with your content and bodybuilding knowledge, your knowledge of the history of the sport, that you channel isn't more recognized. You are my favorite bodybuilding channel on the tube and I mean that bro. Please keep the content comming . I'm gonna do a top ten list of bodybuilding utuber's 1. Tomminator WHO CARES 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Just learned from the comments that you're leaving the channel, Tom (I don't have an Instagram account). Just wanted to say that yours is one of the best bodybuilding channels on RU-vid and thank you for the great videos. And if you can, drop a short video here and there. I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say we'd watch them with all the enthusiasm that we do now. And of course, all the very best for your future endeavours.
Phil and the later guys showcase more lateral sweap also because they come down in the pose, pressing with the other leg the hamstring out. Ronnie was more stand up... Also, potential forgotten mention: Savolainen. Great video!
partially correct. sitting into the pose helps, but it is not the pressing the legs together that helps the most, it is relaxing the hamstring and letting it drop by its own weight. ronnie flexed his hamstring in the side pose, that is why he didn't have the sweep. pressing the legs together is more important in the side symmetry poses, although it is more of a drag, not a press.
when he said Nick Walker I lost it 🤣 Not that Nick doesn't deserve it, but it is still quite hilarious that he already posseses the 10th best hamstrings of all time
The reason Ronnies side hamstring didn’t look great was because he always twisted his leg somewhat and he needed to crouch down a bit more. He would look a lot like Big Ramy from the side of he crouched more and didn’t twist his leg:(
Can't argue with that top 10, I like that you put nick walkers mutants legs in to round it off too. Show's you're watching and you have the eye. Also thanks for the reminder that Ronnies glutes had their own x frame. Simply insane, every part of the guy. Ansleys honorable shreaded mention was right on que!
I agree with the critique of Nick Walker. Really just needs time to develop the mass and nail the conditioning even harder. He has alot of promise. Funny guy too.
Funny how Ronnie its never #1 in this lists but always cracks the top 3-5, that goes to show how great he was jaja, also Tom you are my bodybuilding favorite channel, ive seen like all your videos, like one per day in order to dissect each one of them for the past months, also I don't want them to end that quickly
It'll just be a switch. Ronnie 1 and Phil 2. Gaspari #10 or special mention. Dexter, branch, wolf, rhoden and flex lewis 9-7. Platz, moller 6-5. A phew 212 guys like clarida, Eduardo and Kamal special mention. Jay, Ramy, 3-5. glutes weren't really as emphasized in 90s or 80s as today so they didn't show it. Platz and gaspari had shredded glutes. I know 90s Shawn, nassir, Kevin, Flex youd see the fibers but not flexing it. Wasn't emphasized as today
@@BountyRogueCinemax You got about half of them there. I would take out Wolf, Jay, Ramy, and Platz (never really got the opportunity to showcase them) and add in Lockett, Bonac, Osladil. Probably Renel Javier and Kai too.
Hey Tom, just FYI - the word "hence" means "which is why", and because of that, it's improper grammar to follow hence with the word "why". Saying "Hence why" would be the same as saying, "Which is why why". Just a tip, cuz I know you are a stickler for pronunciation sometimes (nsp lol), so I just wanted to give you a heads up before anyone else does. =)
10:44 Maybe the fact that this pose makes the guys look like they have hamstring p**sies was a contributing factor to the banning. Along with I doubt these judges want to be essentially mooned lol Interesting bit of bodybuilding history haha
