SNK Boss Syndrome exposes who were really play fighting games out here during the 90s and 2000s. Everybody wanna talk about M. Bison, Shao Khan, and Heihachi, but then Rugal, Goenitz, Geese, and Krauser happened... you wanna talk about Rage Quitting at its finest. Then you'll realize why a lot of people wasn't hip to Geese until Tekken 7. That's when I realized, damn it was worth going through it. Rugal's Genocide Cutter makes Sagat's Tiger Uppercut look like a light Shingo Kick. 😐😐😐😐😐😐
Damn agree, I played almost every major fighting game during the 90's up to this day. No boss was harder then the easiest boss in SNK list. Absolutely no one. The only that comes close were Judgment and Dizzy from the 1st 2 Guilty gear games.
Surprised you didn't mention how Krizalid has a counter, an anti-air, an overhead and a command throw that hits high and hits low all in just one move.
@@atrailofblood It is a anti-air, it is a overhead, a form of command grab and hits high and low (you can see that when you block), all in just one move.
He doesn't have a counter, but the rest is valid. Krizalid's moveset was extremely OP, if he had a better AI he'd have been one of the hardest bosses of the entire series. I mean, his SDMs pretty much almost kill you from full health.
@@MrDarkknight914 No one cared about KOF back then. The only reason he knows anything about KOF is because of Capcom vs SNK 2. Max is cool and all, but he's a Capcom guy first. In short, no, he most likely never even touched '90s-2K-2K3 KOF.
Me at the Begin: If Rugal aint 1 I'm gonna cry about it in the comments Gets to about 2 or 3: Man Idk if Rugal is even gonna show up There was that one flame tiger guy that looked impossible that wasnt even mentioned yet Finally at 1: YES!! YESS!!!
Rugal, in all of his forms, always gives me trouble. It took me literal hours to get past him in regular 2002 and in 2k2UM, I ended up having to unlock him through the Endless mode. I'm convinced that the boss characters there are in their player state since they were all considerably less bullshit than usual
@@Soldano999for me i also beaten Rugal in all versions. Man, Rugal in KOF 2002 UM needed 300 hours before finally defeating him and adding him as the 66th character roster!
Igniz is the most beautifully designed character in entire KOF series. To me he goes par to par with Mr.Goodman from NGBC and Koryu from Last Blade 2 in terms of awesome design and OP powers.
Being Filipino, yes. Uh, funny thing, playing KOF games in the GBA, Geese isn't really a problem. But in Howling Blood, I just hate the Goenitz there...
Magaki haunted my childhood because of how stupidly hard he was to beat, I've only beat him one time without service. Even with service it's hard to beat.
No kof boss could compare to the effortlessness and coolness of Goenitz. Even though he’s taken out Rugal’s eye and killed so many ppl, the guy speaks in such a sophisticated and calm manner that u can’t help but route for the guy
He’s polite, speaks polite. Does savage moves politely. Has polite arrogance. If you’re talking about how Goenitz’s lifestyle is; he’s just a priest inside a forest. Also to abuse the guy, you just need him to read as many books as possible.
The original planned Rugal would have been the hardest boss to beat cause he would have access to all the movesets and desperate moves of the entire roster.
I have the best strategy to beat Rugal in Kof 2002 Um. Just use Original Zero and spam his black hole move every single time until Rugal’s health goes down. Just go to battle settings and put on Max Mode and Zero will already be in Max Mode for every round. That’s what I did and it worked
ShoryuGame: Orochi was disappointing. MUGEN: We have Salvation Orochi, Elegant Orochi, Apollo, Mizuchi, Crazy Catastrophe, Exile Haiaosi, Murochi, Zerochi, Stone Orochi- SD: Just pick Elegant Orochi. Stupid “simp” of mine (Elegant Orochi) hogging me like Chae Yul while cosplaying as Orochi and Lee Chaolan. ShoryuGame: Rigggghhhttt…. Don’t know what you said, but ok, Elegant Orochi- wait a second. This guy is an Oswald edit! SD: ………..Salvation Orochi will do.
I've played al the kof series and i agree with all your words, kof 2002UM Rugal makes me think the developers of the game have tried to create a invencible boss
Now I'm back to this video not just because Rugal is back but to hear the funniest quote about a SNK boss ever: *"Rugal was like: You hated my Genocide Cutter before how about I put my Genocide Cutter inside my Genocide Cutter."*
Krizalid was my entry to SNK boss syndrome. Until I learned how to exploit his AI Krizalid beat me a countless amount of times. Infuriating when you are close to winning.
@@Kain_R_Heinlein Meh. I don't believe the general is the hardest unless it was verified by someone who beat most SNK and Capcom bosses. I don't trust wiki. It's just a rumor. Most people who said that didn't even beat most snk or capcom bosses. I have seen a person who compared the general to Gill only.
@@sladejosephwilson2300 what wiki? Most of the people who have attempted to defeat General have defeated SnK bosses. It doesn't matter if you believe it or not it is undeniable truth that it took years to defeat him. You have no idea how hard it is until you face him yourself. Simply getting to him is already very difficult. You don't understand what frame data is and what makes him so broken especially within the context of the game People have very much verified how untouchable he is. Also it's obvious you don't know much about bosses considering you only know Capcom and SNK ones. Usually more obscure bosses have the most difficult. Matter of fact I'm debating whether to put a single SNK boss in my top 10 list lol. Also the comparison to Gill was a joke, Gill is a baby compared to him. You must lack reading comprehension or something to have not understood it. It was an inside joke made by a terrible boss poll voted people who don't know many bosses
Everybody knows Rugal is the greatest boss ever. For crying out loud, the man has a black panther for a pet inside of an underground lair. He puts batman to shame and even Bruce is scared of that genocide cutter and he's a ninja. Soon as that music hits you know you're in for a rather quick beating. Doo, doo, doo, da-doo da-doo. "Run it's Rugal!" :) And now that I have my Neo Geo arcade stick pro, I'll have many more failed jumping c's with my beloved Kyo.
Magaki was the most rage inducing boss I have ever faced. Every SNK boss has SOME AI you can exploit, even 2002 Rugal (Although you'll probably still lose TBH). Magaki in KOF XI had TOO MANY options. No reflector worked on his projectiles, even many DM had less priority over his projectiles, even many Leader Super Specials could be stopped if ANY of his projectiles hit you in the middle of the move. 98 Rugal began to get easy after awhile. 2002 Rugal was stupid because of the lack of continues...but if Magaki didn't allow you to continue either? THAT boss would be number 1 for me easily.
In terms of difficulty, from hardest (1) to easiest (10): 1.Rugal (94,95,2002/UM), most difficult boss in the series, in UM, I couldn't beat him in a regular setting. 2.Magaki, really tough, probably rivals Rugal, but since XI is my most played KOF, I have an easier time with him. 3.Original Zero (2001), very difficult, I find him even harder than Igniz personally. 4.Igniz, very close to Original Zero in terms of difficulty, but I had an easier time against him personally. 5.Goenitz very cheap, but exploitable, can be very tough if you're not familiar with him. 6.Clone Zero (2000), like the video said, very exploitable, still somewhat tough. 7.Ash, similarly to the previous two, exploitable, slightly less tough than Clone Zero. 8.Krizalid, this is where the easy territory begins, he's not too easy, but definitely not tough. 9.Mukai, kinda easy tbh, never had too much difficulty handling him, ever. 10.Orochi, awful AI, just stands there most of the time, but his broken tendencies put him higher than Verse. 11.Verse...he just sucks lol, he's really easy to beat.
The hardest boss of KOF was Koichi Toyama He basically pushed SNK to go pachinko after reforming after their bankruptcy. Got replaced only to return after 3 SNK heads. Only to push for more pachinko. Until Japan's AntiAddiction Law was put into effect.
Ultimate Mention of All Fighting Games goes to MUGEN's Vanilla Ice from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Heritage for the Future. Literally breaks the game just to beat you. You have to outsmart the game itself.
But then, Bao learned from his master chin how to turn stupid a cheap boss, the bouncing psycho ball of bao that goes to the ground and bounces on the floor and goes up, tricks rugal AI, and he throws a genocide cutter eating the fireball you can corner him and psycho all his ass to dead, or to time over
took us a long time to beat Ignis. Literally, me and my cousin are taking turns on who get ass kicked. I just got lucky hitting him a lot with Foxy's sword move.
Snk bosses are not recycled exactly like SF bosses. The case with Rugal is that he is used frequently because he is popular, but if you noticed, it's mostly on non story games. Strictly speaking he only appeared twice in the story, only once as Omega Rugal... Kof doesnt repeat bosses. So only in non story games we can hope to see them again, like 02um.
i played the 97 in arcades back in the day. And i swear the game there was so much harder. Orochi's counter special would 1 shot you. I'll admit, the AI was a bit passive, it was just the shere damage it did on his supers that was ridiculious.
I can sweep dark Ash??? (I gave up after many painful tries) I defeated Omega Rugal KOF98 twice in my entire life (First time almost drove me into paralysis)
Takashi Nishiyama: ok next we're making a boss that has 1 frame teleport ,1 hit ko on every move ,all unblockable ,50 times more health ,always armour ,regenerates ,5 times faster ,can cancell anything ,no double kos ,five seconds on the clock ,and if you beat him you'll die and he'll win Everyone in the company: HOLLY SHIT WE SHOULD DO THAT
I have 2002 vanilla and rugal is always tough. I've been playing it again for a few weeks now and I can only win by time out. AI is borderline cheap also and most supers are punishable if not combo'ed into. Thanks for the vids as always!
I'm not sure how many people know about this but Igniz has an infinite in KOF2002 UM with his chain whip and from what I've heard people would spam this move online when bosses are enabled. Even Maximilian Dood was a victim of this infinite when he played it online and forgot to disable bosses.
Rugal from KOF 94 was just brutal and unfair. Also, Igniz from 2001 is unfair but at least you can use handicap service to fight against him. These two dudes were the hardest thus far.
