Being someone that has loved High School Musical to death since I was a little kid, Zac Efron is probably the last person I’d expect to portray someone as atrocious at Ted Bundy.

Bundy was extremely charismatic, it’s how he got his victims - and if I recall correctly how he was able to excape justice for so long as well - so the “too charismatic” critique makes no sense.

It makes people extremely uncomfortable when you point this out. We like to believe that we would be smart enough to recognize a serial killer in our midst. But this brings it out that anyone anywhere could be a victim, and maybe even someone you know and like could be hiding a dark side you know nothing about. That's why many people instinctively fight that characterization, despite it being accurate.

I thought the same thing about the “too charismatic” comment…that’s what made him such a prolific killer is was considered attractive to the ppl of the time and he was charismatic.

Check out "Anatomy of a Murder" (1959) with James Stewart. A courtroom drama based on real events, it was largely filmed in the actual courthouse where the original trial took place and even included some of the original jury members recreating their roles.

„All the President‘s Men“ is a fascinating film because it is such an atypical Hollywood movie that it should have been a guaranteed box office bomb - and maybe that‘s exactly what made it so successful. No action sequences, no love story, no over-explaining of facts. The villain remains an abstract „them“ with no screen time. It is all dialogue from the beginning to the end, and at 100 mph with everybody talking over one another. If you are not up to date with politics (and, watching it today, with American history) or if you can‘t focus for more than ten minutes, you are completely lost. - Despite all this - or better, because of all this, the movie became an instant classic and has aged very well. That‘s because it has the courage to trust the class of its great cast, the power of the story and the audience‘s intelligence. It is the epitome of the 70s political cinema, one of the best examples of the New Hollywood era.

The Frozen Ground should've definitely been on here. About the serial killer Robert "The Butcher Baker" Hansen, in Alaska. They even filmed it IN Alaska & recreated the story & scenes in some of the exact places they actually happened all that time ago. It was a pretty damn good movie.

It’s not a film, but Narcos was pretty historically accurate. They even asked his son what discrepancies there were and he said one of the only major things that wasn’t accurate was the size of the houses that Pablo fled to when he was on the run. Other than that, it’s pretty solid.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was easily THE most accurate portrayal of his life and crimes I've ever seen, to the point that it seemed a bit odd that they left out his beloved childhood dog, Frisky (I'm betting it was on purpose, because giving a character a dog has always been movie and TV shorthand for "this character is a good guy"). The "Des" TV miniseries was also excellent. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love when movies get the actual people involved in the real life occurrences for the movie. They're not crime movies but World Trade Center is another one that was so accurate one of the officers portrayed, John McLoughlin, had to leave the set multiple times. Both McLoughlin and William Jimeno had small parts in the film as well.

Yeah Jordan Belfort said he really did crash the boat and he said they not only did a lot of drugs but probably more than they did in the movie 😂.

While I know its not a movie but Narcos first 2 seasons about Pablo was done very well and accurate. a mixture of drama, crime, and a little bit of documentary to an extent.

great list i think Zac Efron were underrated as Ted Bundy, he really was amazing and for me is the best portrait of Ted even with no killing scenes and what about black mass, donnie brasco, truth & lions for lambs of robert redford, public enemy, the mauritanian and more recently killers of the flower moon??

I thought it was really tasteful and decent of them to not show any of the actual murders in Shockingly Evil and Vile. It would have been unnecessary and exploitative.

I think it's more likley to get one than others. Like a movie based on a historical event is alot less likley to be accurate than a crime event. Even TV series who just show the facts are even better to boot.

Motley Crue's The Dirt should be on here, the band said the movie was accurate and they broke an average of 74 laws every minute of the film 😆

Also do not pull out of a bite. Push into the mouth while holding the head and it opens the jaw. If you pull out you can lose flesh. This works with human bites too.

I have the same date of birth as one of the days of Ted Bundy’s victims was attacked, granted my bday was like 15 years AFTER the attack, on that date but I have ALWAYS been incredibly fascinated with Ted Bundy. I used to make jokes and say I was going to buy a 1970’s brown punch bug, and get a bumper sticker made, “Ted Bundy Style” and Zac Efron absolutely blew me away with his Bundy portrayal 😍🖤😍

Not trying to be condesending but Bundy killed I think over 30 victims that we know of. Therefore having the same birthday as one of his attacks is close to 9%, slightly less likely than being naturally brunette. I think your fasination with Bundy has probably less to do with your birthday than some other factors (like interest in true crime, psychology or serial killers for instance).
