Well I wouldn't label old new era if i didn't recommend the era of the band. For me they are still a great band even tough I don't like Battles, Siren's Charms and Playground. Their discography until than was all i wanted in metal, melody, meaning, and powerful vocals. The last 3 albums weren't my taste but i respect the move to the new sound an artist should express himself or in this case as a band. It surely breaks the monotony of metal and the generic sound that people often go to. I mean modern death metal is really all the same between artists with few exceptions. The point here is don't hate the band if they make this choice, accept it and move on, elitist and generic metal bands will eventually make this genre die out...

I was going to say sth similar. The guy's execution is amazing but how is the terrible 'Monsters in a Ballroom' in the top 10 in flames riffs list while there are classics riffs from Trigger, Ordinary Story, Episode 666 and many more.
