Why the hell is Conan's ratings low??? Audiences are getting more stupid and are more into these "pop hosts" and antics that rely on others' talents. Team Coco definitely!

Geniuses are sometimes the least valued, but they are the ones that give meaning to this reality. And also, like mathematicians and inventors, make our world easier. In the case of Conan, he provides one of the most fundamental things; true laughter and joy, without having to work so hard, because it comes naturally to him... there are not stupid jokes with him.

I always found Letterman's humor more of an acquired taste. His humor is strange to say the least, but it grows on you. Conan is still my favorite, but I have no problem with Letterman being ahead of him.

sanderflop I'd say Letterman because almost everything you see done on talk shows came from Letterman's show. This guy was off the charts crazy with some of his on the street stuff: harassing people like mad at the fast food drive through, sending dozens of guys dressed up as bunnies suits into a tax office, feeding lines to the deli guy as he harasses the hell out of customers at a restaurant. I used to shit my pants on a regular basis. I've NEVER seen anything like it. I used to watch his show religiously. But I heard that he had actually gotten some ideas from Steve Allen. Before my time, but I watched him and he was damn good too. Ferguson is the only other late night guy who really pushed the envelop, thus my top three. Everyone else is good but not trend setters like the top three.

If your only criteria is humour, he would top the list. I mean Craig is funny with or without rehearsed material. Also, he makes guests more likeable with his interviews. But, if you are looking for more substance I have to go for Stewart, Colbert or Dave. Ferguson's show is the most entertaining and lighthearted. But solid content wins a good talk show just as much.
