Finally, an actual review with comparison. It's getting harder and harder to find reviews that claim a comparison but never actually show anything useful. Definitely considering the runners up because I won't risk a fan failure. Passive cooling is always the way to go.
Thanks hellcat1988, glad to help! We plan to add more statistics to future videos, but also want to keep things simple at the same time. Only true facts here!
Hey Ryan, we got some of their stuff in order! GTR Lighting, Putco, and Supernova. Diode Dynamics doesn’t make H7 yet but once they release it we’ll add that as well. We should have everything tested in the next month or so
I bought the cougars for my 17 Nissan Rogue. They are quite a bit brighter than the OEMs. They fit perfectly and I have had them for a little over a year now. I did have to aim them down a bit though. I tried several other cheap Amazon bulbs in some of my other vehicles and I've been most happy with these. I know they're cheap, but I've been happy with them and would recommend them to others.
Hey Blake, thanks for sharing! What model do you run specifically? They just released a new model this year, and we just picked it up for testing soon.
I installed these into my snowmobile as well and luv them. They are much brighter than OEM and would most definitely recommend them to others. And for around $50 I think a great buy.
Thanks already ordered my hikari Core led low and high beam kit,did my research on these bulbs and they seam to be what i am looking for take care love your honest testing of these bulbs and thanks for educating all of us out here looking to upgrade are headlights
Amazing video and very straight to the point! We need more channels and videos like this! Any chance at a video on top heat sink style LEDs? Not many people like using fans LEDs and most prefer to stay away from a mechanical fan due to being exposed to the elements. Otherwise, keep this up! This is great content that everybody should see.
Thanks JDM ASTAR I’m glad it was helpful! We will continue to test new LED kits, and I will be sure to do a video on the best solid state heat sync kit in the future, that is a great idea! Thanks again!
@hitman hit , The next gen DI injectors are much quieter. Toyota and Ford use both type of injectors. Mostly using Di at maximum throttle. If you have a new car you probably don't need LED bulbs.
Dont be afraid of those with fan if you want your led to be bright, in most of the time those with fan are the ones that can push that brightness, which is the main reason why we are switching to Led, for a brighter light. And in most cases fans are hardly the cause of a led failure.
Just bought my 2nd pair of H7 Lightning Dark. LOVE the first pair on first vehicle. This second pair will go into projector lights. Excited to see the results. No joke, these lights are bright.
I run the BeamTech on my Lightning in the headlights and fog lights. They’re really good. Couldn’t say how good though, because I changed headlights and fog lights at the same time.
I’m running beamtechs right now..they aren’t the brightest..almost not bright enough..best part is not getting flashed by oncoming drivers..but the highbeams aren’t even really noticeably brighter🤷🏻♂️
I ordered the NOVSIGHT with 20000 lumens 6000k white LED conversion kit with a built-in Decoding Unit, Anti Flicker @ Amazon for $64.99 I wanted the brightest legal LED bulb available in the market but when my mechanic installed them on my 2014 MB GL450 they were on and off every 3 seconds after a couple of minutes they shot off completely. Luckily my mechanic recommended the BEAMTECH and he has them in stock. Im really happy with the BEAMTECH.
Thanks John for the support! We'll be releasing a new video soon, but you can always check our website for the latest as we keep it up to date based on our tests; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/

I myself am having brightness issues with my LasFits running in my halogen projectors. Even after adjusting height I don't get good light output down the road. They light up pretty good right in front of the car
@@zaybarz9200 Yeah I have noticed that when I first got into LED's. I just like the availability/price and ease of the installation with LED's VS HID's. First world problems lol
Thanks for sharing! The kit we have is made of metal and seems to be very high quality. What model specifically? We are looking to test some of their newer models as well.
Great video 👍 I just wonder how long those bulbs last? My halogen “blue tinted” one bulb just burned out today bought them bulbs from the clearance bin at orielies about 6 years ago
Thanks nitrous07me! We havn't tested longevity of the LED kits. I would presume they should last longer than halogen bulbs because of the technology. Because they are small brands, their reliability can't be confirmed for sure. The best bet is to check out the Amazon reviews before purchasing. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
LED kits don't last, they are very bright. I tried several off amazon and all same results. Very bright until it burns out 6, 9 months, 1 year if you are lucky.
Upon your review of the Hikari Ultra H4 LED, I went ahead and took the leap on my first pair of LED bulbs. I installed one of the bulbs on my CBR250R motorcycle and boy I’m astonished. The low beam cut off is pretty sharp, close to the stock 60/55w Halogen I was running in it before. The beam pattern is as stock as it could get and I had my friend ride my motorcycle to see if it glares, and it does not! I wish both the low and high beam emitters could function(only high or low can function at one point) Also, the bulb is rated to draw 26w, but provides fantastic illumination. Thank you Bulb Facts team, glad your reviews are unbiased and legit.
You got it Arjun, and thank you for sharing! I'm glad it worked out well, and we only do full and honest reviews here. The wattage draw is much lower for LED vs. Halogen as well, a great benefit to LED with much less heat buildup too, which I personally know as well as a previous bike owner, especially the older models :)
You guys are my heroes from someone who's had to purchase and bust multiple times I'm glad I came across this channel never been able find decent low beams that are led. Currently was switching my lasfit for Hikari till I came across this video, don't get me wrong lasfit 5202 fog lights blow any other fog led out of the water for that type of bulb due to limited options but they leave you wanting a lot more from low beams. My favorites for non-low beam led brands are luyed, and jdm astar. Luyed makes great interior led's and exterior side markers while jdm astar switch back turn signals are unmatched in brightness and how pure white they are.
Hi Elisandro! I'm glad the video helped you out, that is our goal! We really appreciate the kind words, and look forward to testing more kits in the future to find the best ones available. We'll check out the Luyed and JDM Astars to see what their options are for testing. Thanks again and thanks for watching!
James Adams what’s brighter hikari or cougar motors one? I want it in my 2016 Toyota RAV4 xle I bought 2 lasfit but they don’t last long and get dim. When driving they look light they are not even on.
DBOSS VLOGS the hikaris are better. They might shine alittle higher though. As long as people don’t highbeam you or you see the light not shining into the eyes of on coming traffic your good. If not you may have to lower the aim of the headlights but the hikari is so much better than the cougars
I installed the 6000k Lasfit low and high beams yesterday, they look amazing, the color is perfect exactly what I was looking for. I hope they last at least one year. Thanks for taking the time for reviewing and sharing.
Thanks for the reviews - great info as always. I do notice your charts are about halogen reflectors, but halogen projectors are pretty common now too. Does the same testing info apply or would projector housings need separate testing?
Hi theRealAV8r - I too agree. We plan to re-test all of our halogen and LED kits in a projector scenario, and will have a separate row in the chart. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Thanks Michael! Check out our latest LED video as well, as we have tested a lot more products since this video; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TXEJVCIsCaA.html

I've this video is a few years ago, so don't know how new these are but I got some Fahron LEDs in Amazon. Price was great, I replaced hi and lie beams and my fog lights. I confess I don't know much about led lights, but they are WAY BRIGHTER, than the phillips extra visions I had in. One of those blew out in less then a year and the LEDs I got have a 2 year to warranty. The white color looks so much better to me than the halogens did. I haven't had anyone flashing me yet, been about a month, so I assume the glare isn't an issue.
Thanks rAdiant Jet for sharing! From our tests, the Cougar Motor did ok in projectors, but there are much brighter LEDs nowadays since the Cougar Motor became so popular. Check out our LED Projector test chart here: bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/projectors.html
I've got the cougar motor led's in my 2000 mustang and I'm Very pleased with them . Very bright , high quality beam , very tight on low beam and I didn't need to adjust my lights at all
Thanks Cbmech! The Cougar motor has an older chip design but still works ok but doesn’t have a good beam in reflectors. I wonder if your headlight reflector concentrates light better. Anyways thanks for sharing, should help other 4th gen Mustang owners out there!
I just put a set in my 1997 F250 heavy duty. They are even better in this than the Mustang. My big complaint with them was the little screw under the o-ring to put the retainer ring on. Now, no screw. Twist it off. Only goes on one way and once installed you can twist it to move the hot spots. The beam is so tight I'm going to be able to adjust the headlights up at least a little. I'm very pleased and will give them a 5 star on amazon.
Hi Aaron! We do have plans to test fog-light LED kits too. If you are adding a standard LED kit into a fog housing, simliar specs should apply though, but it will be interesting to see how the fog specific kits perform. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
@@HEMI-MOMMA you got it! We've been busy but we are actually in the process of testing LED in fog applications and should have the results up in the next few weeks with a video shortly after. We appreciate the support!
I'm using the wontonwolf led rated at 10k lumes and I feel it's spot on. I have them in my high beams and the road bends away before the light cuts. Highly recommend these
I got a Honda CR-V 2017, I bought the Hikari for my low beam and techmax mini for my fog lamps, and the techmax is brighter then the Hikari and also cheaper!! Bulbfact thanks for the advices is so helpful!!
crv 2018 owner here... do LEDS work well with the projectors style lamps? and why did you choose hikari / techmax instead of beamtech/lightning dark ??
@@ezlivin1454 originally had them on a optima & accord coupe about a year ago but upgraded to a couple Lexus’s, now I’m running them on daytime runners & fog lights but yes so far so good… plus if you get them on Amazon and they burn out they’ll charge you a small restocking fee to replace them… so it’s a win win in my opinion…!
@@josephwilson9998 each bulb will be different. I have auxbeams all for high/low/fogs. My bulb sizes are H7 (low), H11 (fog), and 9005 (high). I bought matching auxbeams but there was no kit, just matching models. They ran about $40 each set on Amazon.
Joe thx for the tip. I have a 2017 Tacoma Trd sport and wanted to put leds in it also the same with my wife’s 2014 sorrento. Her lights suck! Probably better off taping a couple of flashlights to the front end. Thx again for you help.
I actually run the H13 Lightning Dark LED bulbs. They're pretty bright but I expected them to be alot brighter. Over all I've had these on my ram since late November, and they are doing still great
Where can you find that info? If they are Philips or not? I just ordered mine and now I'm wondering if I ordered the wrong ones..😒 . I paid almost 80 on Amazon
I just bought the lasfit they are brighter than my original light but for whatever reason on drivers side I notice a bit of a bordering yellow color outline not sure why that would appear & when the light shine up against garage door a bit of yellow I know these bulbs got great reviews by far but I really thought they would be just a bit brighter..
Hi Old Timer! We noticed during our testing that some LED kits have a yellowing to parts of the beam. It appears to be coming from the yellow LED itself. Kits that have quality LEDs like Philips don't seem to suffer from this. We tested one of the Lasfit kits and they didn't perform well, towards the bottom of our chart. Check out some other brands for better performance, and look for 3 or 4 small LEDs in a row on each side, instead of just one, as that mimics the halogen filament. Thanks!
@@BulbFacts yes well tbat is helpful information to know I just bought them yesterday I will return them today & look for the lightning darks & beam techs online see whats the best deal out there thanks much👍
Sounds great! The Lightening Dark is no longer available, and although their new model is good, there are better kits. Be sure to check out our latest LED chart bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/. Let me know what you wind up going with!
The thing with lasfit is which series you get, the L1 and LC6 are the cheapest and will give you a little better than halogens. The LA series would be the lowest end I would go, much better light out put with good beam pattern, the chips are placed correctly to mimic the filament placement. The top end LS series use the lumileds Zes chips and work great, near perfect beam and great down road light with a great hotspot. One size I had a hard time finding a correct replacement for was a 880 for my fogs, the chip need to run left to right with them facing up and down, only found two manufactures that make them correctly and that is morimoto 2 stroke 2.0 and eisenke, so if you need that size then they are it.
@bigtruck guy you definitely get what you pay for. I bought a cheap set for my work truck just to see if LEDs would even work, 2018 F-150 , Ford's are known to have some really wierd issues with LED lights since they use PWM on some vehicles, strangely even the same model can come different ways depending on options, I also have DRL's that can not be turned off. seller had a discount code for $30 off so they ended up being $15 so I thought why not, amazingly they work and are such a improvement over the stock halogen crap bulbs they come with.
Hi, I tried converting my 2019 GTI to LED and it did not work out well. I was never able to fit the bulbs in the light housing. I even took to the light assembly off the car and was not able to get them to fit right. Any suggestions on a kit that would fit right for my car?
Hi Benoit, I know the VW models can be tricky, on top of the H7 bulb adapters. I would reach out to DeAuto group, as they test in specific VW models and can provide a precise recommendation that will work in your vehicle. If we get that headlight housing in our lab though we'll see if we can find something that works well.
Hey welcome to reality, LEDs actually run at a much lower wattage normally (we have only seen one product match the amperage of a halogen). They also normally contain a fan which keeps the temperature down. They all run much cooler over halogen (typically 90-100F vs. 160F+ for halogen). Hope that helps!
Hi AntiBroke19 - Projectors are the best for beam and distance, but a lot of cars and trucks still have reflectors, even new models. The Lasfit kit we tested was quite bad, but we will look into the LS model for testing. Thanks for watching!
Hi Willie, Sealight is a good brand. We tested them a few months back and added them to our test chart, so be sure to check that out for the results. You'll have to scroll down a bit.
@@Rezolution01 they are hidden by default as we only show the top 5 in each category, so you just need to click the 'Load all Budget Kits' button to see them listed.
Thanks Lebone! Very true! Go with the high-end brands if you want a high quality product. Such as DeAuto, Morimoto, Diode Dynamics, etc. We'll be testing and adding more premium kits soon.
Hi JCRM, the Lightening Darks we reviewed here are no longer made. Check out our much newer recommendations as we keep this page up to date as we test products; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/
Hi Brandon! The consensus with bad driving conditions like rain seems to be that a lower kelvin temperature is better (4300k for example) as it cuts through fog and air moisture more. It is a trade-off when upgrading to LED kits as the kelvin is typically higher. I hope that answers your question and thank you for watching!
Hey micro love, what is your statement based off of? Here is some info on this: www.powerbulbs.com/us/blog/2015/10/colour-temperature-your-questions-answered
Hi Bobo, you certainly can, but just make sure to check the temps, and you may want to consider changing the connector to ceramic as well due to the increased heat.
So on the beam tag what happens if the fan stops working is there going to be like a total meltdown in the whole housing will melt and catch on fire or how does this work
The fan is to keep the diodes (LEDs themselves) as cool as possible for optimal cooling. It depends on the brand, but what we have seen from lifespan testing is when the fan stops working, the diodes go into a low output mode (but still work). The output is just reduced to some degree.
@@Meekmillan they don't catch Fire but the low beam does burn out fast fortunately they're so bright you can use the DRL's as your low beams if this happens.
wait wait, I am very glad I found this video BUT i notice the test is based on a reflector headlight, isnt this kind of light bulb should be in projectors
Hi Dj MrJ! Yes sorry this was our very first LED video, you can find the latest video here which includes projector tests as well and many more samples tested; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VH1P5aa24Y4.html and as always our very latest recommendations and results on our website; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/
@bulbfacts y'all should do a video of best led headlights u can purchase off wish so because i would love to upgrade my head lights but don't wanna dish out like 200 dollars for highness and low beams thank you
Hi Alexander! Each headlight will be a bit different, but almost ever one has some type of stock cut-off to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. The Beamtech was the best to mimic this while being very bright. I hope it works out and let us know if you have any issues!
I have the beamtech led h11 bulbs. They are really dim. Less bright than my stock halogen bulbs which is why I'm watching this video to determine whether to try a different led or go back to halogen. Go with the highest lumen rating because I was afraid of not passing the state inspection if it was too bright and a lot of these led bulbs are dimmer than what they say.

great review as always your video was very helpful i was going to purchase the oedro v99 led kit for my high beam but now i chenged my mind after i checked your website if you continue led kits testing i hope you consider 2 brands 1-headlight revolution led kits. 2-vplus led headlights. keep up the good work and you will reach your goals on youtube.
Nawar Bitar thanks I’m glad it helped you out in your decision, that was our goal! I have a few high end LED kits, and plan to purchase more soon so I can put out a video on those as well. I will definitely look into the two you posted, I’ve heard of both. Thanks for the kind works and thanks for watching!
I just installed the “Lasfit “ in my 15 Silverado. I will be testing them tonight BUT, there is a cover that fits over the lamp housing that is not able to be put back on because of the depth of the led. And being fan cooled, if it were to fit, there would be no air space for circulation. Just an FYI.
Hi Gary! You may want to look into an aftermarket dust boot cover for your truck. I would recommend keeping the cover on in order to keep debris, moisture, etc. out of your headlight. The LEDs with a fan actually don't get too hot (around 90F), much less than a halogen in fact, so the fan is really just cooling the LEDs themselves, so even in an enclosed housing you don't have to worry. If you run a fan-less LED type you'll want to be careful as we tested those to get up to 160F+. Thanks!
I installed the Beamtech bulbs on my Civic which were an enormous improvement - BUT - they are not effective enough to melt snow from the headlight housing during ice/snowy weather. Found this out the hard way.
njmetfan thanks for sharing as that is a great point. Yes that is a side-effect of LED vs. Halogen unfortunately. We'll be sure to mention in upcoming video reviews. It may be a good idea to run a halogen parking light if it's possible, even a blue xenon look bulb, in that will provide a little bit of heat, but of course not nearly the amount of a headlight halogen bulb.
Hey Nick, we'll be updating our recommendations page soon as well as putting out a new video review, but the DDM Tuning SaberPro 50w model (link.bulbfacts.com/ddmsp50) is going to be the best for a fog light application, and for a budget friendly option we'd recommend the Cougar Motor X-Small (amzn.to/38TDWPA). I hope that helps!
Hi Francisco, great point. From what we have seen so far there should not be any issues, but you are running a new electronic component that could fail. Ideally, they should last much longer than a halogen bulb, but probably not the claimed length of time, as that is usually the diode and not the entire product itself. We'll do lifespan/quality testing in the future for sure.
Hi Keizo, that's correct. The reflector changes how the light is distributed, and in a high beam typically makes the light field more focused with longer distance.
Just looking at what's on offer in the leds , meh , i'm not overly convinced they are worth the trouble , when you can buy the 90/100/120 plus bulbs that are a tad brighter than the stock ones . I know they often have a shorter service life , but they do seem fairly common and don't seem to have heat worries.
Thanks for the info. It was really great to see an honest video with no b.s. acting to pull in subscribers. Funny thing is, you pulled one in right here simply because you act like a normal human being. Thanks again.
Thanks George, that means a lot! The entire goal of Bulbfacts is to find the truth in these products, and that's what we plan to keep doing for you guys! Thanks for watching!
I have a 2015 VW Passat TDI SEL. What's the best bulb for low beam and and best for high beam? I'm all about performance, I don't care about color. Please let me know your recommendation.
Hi Scott! Assuming you have reflectors, I can tell you the best kit currently for H7 is the DeAutoKey LED kit. It is truly amazing, and what I personally run in my Jetta. Be sure to use coupon FACT10 for 10% off with them, here's a link: link.bulbfacts.com/deautoled-ledkits . I will be doing a video on the kit soon. It is the best for low beams by far, but high beams I am still testing some new kits out so just be sure to check back on our website for the best high-beam kits. I would recommend the Katana for highs, but they are out of stock on the H7 right now. If you have projectors check this page: bulbfacts.com/hid-oe/chart/ . I hope that helps!
Hello great video these beamtec and lighting dark will they work good in projector style like i have in my honda accord coupe 2015 exl thanks have a great day
Hi fossil83, you'll actually want to re-aim your headlights themselves. You can adjust the LEDs in some cases by rotating which may help, but if the hotspot is higher than the halogen was then you'll want to lower them down to match.
Hi Dimitris, you can install LED into virtually any vehicle with some caveats of course like fitment, power draw, etc. What is your specific vehicle including the year?
Thank you for the review and link to your chart. Between Amazon and Ebay there are too many to chose from. Real numbers help alot. I'm converting to LED and not looking to spend much in case I switch back. I already get flashed sometimes when pulling a trailer. The LED difference is worth a shot.
Not a problem Justin glad to help! There are a lot of choices out there and I hope our test results provide a better way to find the best product. LED can make a big difference, just be sure it has a good beam pattern in addition to the improved light output.
Hey toneman335, you can find our latest recommendations here, we keep this page up to date as we test new products; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/
Amazing video, and the fact that you went straight to the point even better. I have a 2016 camaro and I’ve been wanting to change my halogen lights into LED. I’m doing some research and theres good brands like Xenon and Retrofit Source but $$$. Seeing this video made me think twice especially with the lightening dark kit. You think this kit will do the job like Xenon Kits?
Thanks Eugenio! The Lightening Dark kit is not quite as bright as some HID kits we’ve tested, however if you have reflector headlights then LED is a better choice. Improper HID bulbs will cause too much glare and blind drivers (unless you have projectors of course, then I’d go HID). I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I was looking to maybe buy Dynamic diode LED lights. Did you test those? Also they are saying set the led up and down. In this video you said left and right. So which is right. Thanks
Hey Steve, while we would love to test the Diode Dynamic's LEDs, they don't make the size we use to test. We do plan to add more sizes in the future. You'll want to face the led (diodes) left to right for an accurate beam, so the light is emitted side to side. Hope that helps!
Hi, very good video lots of good stuff, in the boxes you have shown, there is a box of OPT7 LED kit, did not hear much coverage on it, did you test OPT7 LED kit? What were your thoughts on it?
I love my BeamTechs in my Jeep and my Mazda 6. They are clean and bright. Not as bright as my HIDs in my truck but for the price and ease of install the BeamTechs are worth it. I still think I will stay with HID until LEDs can match the output of the HIDs. The other winner of the LEDs is the price they end up being much cheaper then the HIDs
Hey halojumper81! I totally agree. HID is still king over LED, especially in aftermarket applications. If your interested, check out my recent video on HID kits; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cr7jdvJcWL4.html. Beamtech is a great choice and super easy to install too. LEDs can work great in reflectors if you get the right one, and HID is best in projectors. From our tests. Thanks for the info!
