@@jaradsweeney6831 nostalgia is always a lame excuse for people who don’t want to accept the fact that just because something is newer doesn’t mean that it’s better. BOTW and tears aren’t even better than elden ring let alone the best Zelda game
Tears of the kingdom is amazing so far but you can't deny how freaking epic this series is as a whole. A game from 1998 (Ocarina Of Time) is still one of the best ever made today, that says something!
Agreed completely. Special Weapons and Dungeon Design has to be the biggest factors when people rank zelda games. That alone puts Twilight Princess as a top 3
I’m tired of Twilight Princess getting shafted for no reason. Easily the best dungeons in any Zelda game, and when it comes up to the bulk of what you’re doing in Zelda/what its built around (the earlier games), its the dungeons.
The problem (IMO) is that for all it does amazingly well, the world is wayyyy too cordoned off for it to feel like a top Zelda game. The difference between where you can freely venture in Ocarina vs Twilight says it all
The only reason to rank Ocarina of Time higher than Twilight Princess or Wind Waker is because it was the first to do 3D well. But it's hard to argue that it hasn't been surpassed by nearly every other 3D entry since. Twilight Princess is incredible.
Ocarina of Time was the perfect game and Majora’s Mask was the perfect sequel for me personally, playing them as a kid was the funnest experience ever.
This feels like a commercial for tears of the kingdom.. its way too early to put it at the top of the this with tried and true titles that have stood the test of time for decades.
Recency bias. Both Ocarina and LttP have topped multiple Zelda and overall video game lists here at IGN, YET both Switch games top the list. Hell, a game that is 3 days old tops your list. Come on, guys.
Its hard to see past Ocarina of Time, obviously set in its generation it was the first compelling 3D open world adventure game and set the tone for every game adventure game that followed up to this day.
@@Shokukun you could do dungeons out of order and could go anywhere. Open world. Just not large. Had more detail and love in it than breath of horizon zero dawn
Clicked off the video once he scored Twilight princess a 10. Like wtf. IGN is so disconnected from games and somehow they act like there opinion still matters.
Because it's obvious the best Zelda game of all time. Bevor it was BOTW and TOTK is a very much better version of BOTW. So yes, TOTK is the best Zelda game of all time.
the only reason BotW and TotK are where they are is because they brought new players to the series. you ask any zelda fan who's been with the series and actually played all the game they wouldn't be #1 and #2
It says something about this series when games like Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages and Seasons, Link Between Worlds, and even the DS games don’t even make the top ten. It’s a series of straight-up bangers
@@tks3022 they didnt improve enough on the most important parts: dungeons, bosses, enemies, they're all way too weak and easy and shitty just like botw, so the game is like 6/10 or 7/10 not one of the best in series
@@SWOTHDRA demise is the real entity, Gannon is his reincarnates. Skyward sword is first game in the timeline, just like the goddess of hylia is named just that until her hylian reincarnate is named zelda
I'm afraid to watch this as I'll probably disagree especially if Ocarina isn't 1. Ocarina has the most iconic music and dungeons and it's Zelda not a survival game.
@@Rambrant so the game which has music that's synonymous with different Zelda locations. Most of the best dungeons. Amazing characters and story is #4. Ok.
Skyward Sword on Switch is underrated. The dungeon game slaps. Plus one of the more emotional stories. Twilight Princess also has a great dungeon game.
I'm so happy that most of the Zelda top 10's I've been watching the last couple of weeks have always included all of the games in here, give or take atleast one. What a lovely franchise this is
A game being out for like 72 hours and calling it the best zeld ever is also silly. Then again this is IGN pretty sure they just say what they're supposed to
You do understand the games they review are not a collective score, but just one reviewers opinion. Right? All IGN reviews should be taken with a grain of salt based on just one person's thoughts.
This list is a joke. Ocarina of Time #4? What? I'd put Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Link to the Past in the top 3. Breath of the Wild after them. Minish Cap not top 3 but it should be on the list, somewhere around where Link's Awakening is.
IMO a persons favorite is the first one they played and/or the first one they fell in love with that made them “get” why these games are special. A lot of us play new entries and we love them but deep down we’re chasing that dragon trying to be reminded of that first special moment with the series.
Can we PLEASE stop making top 10 lists for franchises after a new game JUST released? It's still in the hype/honeymoon phase bro. Major review outlets like IGN lose a ton of credibility when they do this.
Loving Tears of the Kingdom so far but this sounds like IGN is calling it as the best game ever made a few days after release, which feels punchy to say the least.
They called Skyward Sword the greatest Zelda game ever in their review of it, and it didn’t even make their list now! Their recency bias or more likely trying to hype up their own amount of product which they release centered on the new game(s) is kinda annoying.
Nintendo needs to implement a console/user profile rewards system like XBOX and Playstation have with their achievement and trophy system, respectively. Getting a platinum trophy on these Zelda games, let alone so many other cool Nintendo games, would attract a wider audience for Nintendo.
These lists are always dominated by 3d games. When most top 10 lists have at least 6 3d games if not all 7 there’s only so much room for 2d games especially a duo that would take up two spots
Zelda DX got left out of the list until it got a mainline remake, these reviewers only play home console games, that's why, it's a miracle they even talked about A link between worlds. For example Spirit tracks is also another amazing handheld zelda
As a dude who grew up in the 90s and witnessed the era of the Gameboy Color, for me those games with a top down view of an open world with old timey, yet super smooth pixel art animation, all of that with a protagonist that's a little dude with a sword that can just go wherever... that's the ultimate video game experience.
My List 1. Tears of the Kingdom 2. Breath of the Wild 3. Ocarina of Time 4. Twilight Princess 5. Majora’s Mask 6. Link Between Worlds 7. Link to the Past 8. Wind Waker (not a fan of cartoon link myself). 9. Links Awakening 10. Skyward Sword
As someone born in 2000 having no “nostalgia” for zelda. Ocarina to me is the best. Personally botw just makes top 5. Zelda to me wasn’t ever really a open world sandbox game
@乙卂千卂尺 considering the bad sailing (especially on the Gamecube version), OK story, shameless padding (what was WAY worse on GameCube), questionable continuity to Ocarina of time to a point they can't even get that Link's age right, OK dungeons and being way too easy, it's not hard to see why it's there, heck it should be even lower on the list if Twilight princess is somehow at the 10th spot...
You guys ranked Twilight Princess too low. The fact that NES Zelda scored higher is wild too. You talk about TP deserving more respect but its position on the list says otherwise 😂
