Wow. The Modena team. I remember speaking to an team mechanic working on the Lambo engine. He said the engine was excellent and the chassis was bad. I remember him saying if Ferrari had the Lambo engine with the Ferrari chassis, that would have been a winning car. Very interesting to hear.
Where's Andrea Moda? Coloni? Forti? Pacific? Arguably some of the worst teams in recent times. However, at least they actually built cars and showed up for races. USF1 and Stefan shouldn't even be on this list. They were little more than pipe-dream fantasies that were never going to happen.
Toyota officially backed out of the championship, following a manufacturer exodus led by Honda and BMW Despite initial plans not to sell the team on, Stefanović acquired the rights to use the team's chassis, gearbox and the 2010 spec engine. It also employed several former Toyota team members, then out of work after being made redundant by Toyota.
Another was the French Jams(sp?) Team. It was announced during Round 7 of the 1995 F1 Season (Magny-Cours) they were testing the GD01 and would not race until 1997. I don't think they ever did race.
the title is misleading, it gives the impression that its about the best teams that nolonger exist (lotus, brabham, tyrell, cooper, brm, etc.), not the teams that flopped.

Gabriele Tarquini (ITA) from "First Racing" lives close to my house. He told me the story of that team was a bit different. The very early prototype failed the crash test. Later the car begun to be competitive, but one investor involved in the project retired his sponsoring too early for a real develop of the car. He told me too in those years lots of teams born from Italy, Switzerland, USA, France and many more in F1 and in F3, TOCA, and many other categories, with absolutely low budgets. Those teams didn't want to compete for an entire season or for many seasons, they just entered the circus to make experiments and tests. At that times F1 was not so expansive as today or early years.
Great video. Life Team were by far the worst team in history of F1. I mean , the fact that FIRST F1 team is 3rd in this top , and Life used a First chassis , just tells how spectacularly bad was that car. Also , i read somewhere they got the car out on the track without oil once.
Maybe it has already been said by someone else, but at 2:23 that should be a Zakspeed Yamaha from 1989 and the pic at 5:30 doesn't show a Kauhsen but a Lotus 79 (or a Rebaque HR100 which I remember to be nearly the same car with a few mods) run by Hector Rebaque's team
There are some notable failed F1 cars missing from this list that should have been mentioned. Spirit was one car that was notable because it brought the Honda turbo engine into F1 which was quickly snapped up by Williams and then by McLaren.
lol you even included a team that didn't even have a car (USF1 and Stefan GP should not be here since they didn't take part in a single FP) You should have included Andrea Moda Racing.

However, at least we can agree how awful Andrea Moda was!

However the FIA deemed that the team has bought everything but the entry for F1. Allthough the team has bought Coloni, it disputed whether or not Andrea Moda is continuation of the Coloni team or brand new team
4:33 I was there at the Lamborghini museum when your up-close with it is a very impressive car it was next too 2 Minardi cars and I would recommend going there and also the Ferrocio Lamborghini museum was about 40 mins away with a Lamborghini-Chrysler engine there.
Your lack of interest in anything older than the 1990's is showing; there are several dozens of F1 entrants, going back to the 1950's (when the World Championship as we know it commenced) and the pre-Ecclestone days , which are "lost".
CheapAbyss 48 Coloni was in F1 from 1987-1991, so were excluded for falling outside of the 3 seasons or less rule. As for Forti, it was tempting to put them in, but in the end I just ran out of slots!
One notable omission is the Phoenix Formula 1 team. That was a disaster of monumental proportions. Given the fact that they were using some parts from the failed Prost team and some parts from Arrows, it possibly rates as the ultimate F1 team fail.
You could make a second video of these, there are some good ones you missed here. The Forti team, that entered F1 in 1995, and lasted till midway through 96. A car so slow, it would have been a back marker in F3000. And the Andrea Moda team, the biggest joke of a team ever in F1......google it, there is too much about that to write about here!
I expected Andrea Moda or Fondmetal honestly, not a rather recent team like USF1 that never even participated. Or the poor chaps of Coloni. Still, good video.
No. The exact opposite. They were enticed in by Max Mosley's budget-cap proposal to get more private teams in the championship. Bernie wanted (and got) more car makers in, for the prestige, before they all then left after 2008/09, so Mosley's plan got pushed through, despite Bernie and the remaining manufacturer teams being against the idea in principle.
Given the name of the vid i was surprised it is about 'lost case' teams. At first I thougth it would be about teams that the sport lost throughout the years, but that had added great things/stories. Still an amusing vid though.
Another mistake: The picture on 2:22 is not a Eurobrun instead a 1989 Zakspeed Yamaha with Aguri Suzuki on board. And please: The Onyx is not belonging to this list. They had a podium finish!!!
I thought Life might be #1, but what about Zakspeed or Coloni, both of whom were almost equally unsuccessful around the same time (a rich time for no-hopers who'd give anything to be on the grid at all, let alone at the back)?
USF1 never even had a car so they shouldn't be on this list. Also you should've rehearsed the script first rather than just reading off of whatever website you were using.
Stefan GP must be so terrible, that I being from Serbia have never have heard before about it. Problem with Serbia is that we have no real race tracks. Belgrade has 2 pernamet open go-cart tracks that are almost to slow for driving cars on them and one test-track that can be used for motocycle racing. Closest thing we had to race track was Belgrade int. airport runway during UN sanctions, as planes have nowhere to fly to.

Well, you didn't go very far back in time, you could've found a lot more strange F1-Teams like Eifelland, Scarab, Veritas, OSCA... And what about HRT or Virgin? They were definitely less succsessful than Onyx for example, which even had a podium-finish!

Audio quality is horrible, but that pales in comparison to the fact that you either cannot talk or read properly. Still it's informative. If you improved on those things, this could become highly enjoyable.

there is one team i am missing, that did at least some races: pacific(-illmor?). i think they were in f1 in 1994 and as i know they nearly never qualified for a race, and if they did, they didn't finish. they had nearly complete white cars. and back then, there was another very unsucsessful team in 1994 oder 1995, with yellow cars. but i don't know the name anymore.
Pacific did 2 seasons (94 & 95) Ilmor in '94, Ford EDV8 in 95. You had a bad TV; 'cos the cars were Silver with Pink & Blue in '94, and Blue, Purple and white sidepods (Sponsored by Ursus Vodka) in '95. The '94 car was actually the 1991-designed Reynard F1 car which never raced. Designed by Rory Byrne, who after Reynard failed to get into F1 re-created the car as the Benetton B192. So it wasn't a bar car, just several years old.. The 1995 car also picked up Lotus' points as part of a merger, and was officially 'Pacific Team Lotus' that season - little Lotus badges on the nose of the cars if you look closely. Interestingly Simtek's '94 car was the 1990 Nick Wirth-designed BMW F1 car (also a project that never went forward); which was re-created into the...1992 Andrea Moda(!) when their use of the 1991 Coloni was barred, (for not being their own car..) This 1990 design was then updated in '93 and turned in into the '94 Simtek, then updated into the '95 Simtek. (You can see how they were so slow!) Similarly with Forti Corse (the yellow, then Green, cars); Sergio Rinland's design for the 1992 Fondmetal GR02 (when Gabriele Rumi pulled the plug) raced but was never fully developed. So Sergio stuck a higher-nose design on it, and with a Ford EDV8 it raced as the 1995 Forti Corse FGP01! Again, a 2-year old design bought cheaply which didn't succeed.. Forti left in '96 when 'Shannon Group' "bought" the team and made the cars Green & Red, but it was a scam and they had no actual money & the F1 team disappeared.
OsellaSquadraCorse well okay, thanks for the information. but it's not about a bad tv sometimes... i was 6 years old back in 94. so... you don't remeber anything that well what you have seen as a child. but actually, it must have been a better time back then, where you were still allowed to race a 3 or 4 year old car. it's impossible nowadays, because they change the rules every fucking year.
If you knew what you were talking about you might have mentioned how close some of these teams came to not being on this list, so to speak. Hence the tragedy in a way. Prime example would be the Lambo''s at Imola in 91. Running 5th or 6th until the last 2 or 3 laps off the top of my head. Back then results like that could of made a big difference financially. Try not to read straight off Wikipedia next time ;)
The OP didn't listen to the video where it said these were teams that failed to last over 3 seasons; however you perhaps missed 1950 & 1951? Plenty of wins for Alfa Romeo in 'F1' and in Grand Prix Racing before Formula One existed.
