At first this looks like a piss take of Wimbledon, but I don't see that, I see a piss take of Man City, Sheff Wed & Everton !??! Where the hell were their travelling fans ?
It's not that, last day of the season v Man Utd (either 1993 or 1994) they had around 30,000 attendance. Even my team (Sunderland) in 1997 had 12,000 fans there !?!?
The existence of Wimbledon in the Premier League was really a gift to the foreign visitors. Whilst many sides are either too popular or having small home ground, Wimbledon ground share with Palace in the 26000-seater ground provided easy access for foreign visitors to get hold of Premier League tickets. Fans of popular clubs should also be grateful to Wimbledon, because they actually provided 2 stands, yes, half the stadium, to the away supporters.
Barnet T that joke is so old neanderthals like you drew that in caves before modern man had evolved. Dont be a bible bashing inbred too because i ll have a field day
Or to put it another way ... Wimbledon ( who for the vast majority of their history were a none league side ) were playing in a stadium with just over five thousand capacity until they were forced to play at Crystal Palace and then got moved to Milton Keynes
So every single one was at Wimbledon in 1992,1993, and 1994. What amazes me is that some of these were against rather big clubs...you'd think away fans could bring at least 3,000 away alone. Even casual fans you'd think might just buy a ticket to see Everton or Man City play. During all these years I think they were playing at Cryatal Palace because the club was broke and couldn't play at there own stadium in Wimbledon...however Crystal Palace isn't that far away, and they have a fair size stadium of around 25,000 capacity.
Bit different nowadays. Nowadays AFC Wimbledon get 4500 sell out every week in league 1 or division 3. Wimbledon FC were a non-league club that had a remarkable rise through the divisions in the 80's. They only use to get 3500-4000 fans in at Plough lane. Then they were forced to leave Plough lane and move to Selhurst park. In December 2019 they will get 10000+ attendance in there new ground. Back in 1992/1993 season premiere league had just started. 2018/2019 season away fans are regularly 3000+ for majority of clubs.
It’s because fans didn’t like the move to selhurst park but it was necessary because of the hillsborough disaster(therefore every stadium needing to be an all-seater) and the owner sold their ground plough lane.
No ...Plough Lane ...I.e WImbledons stadium which was under 6000 capacity .....they were forced to play at Selhurst park because the club were essentially a none league side who had a mad run of serial promotions in the 80s and got to the top flight
PrivateMinion 999 just checked on Wikipedia, the attendance was 7,758 (which I found really surprising, considering that Swindon Town was having its first season in top flight ever). It was Plough Lane and Wimbledon beat them 3-0 (NOT so surprising). Date was November 6 1993 btw
These records have all been smashed in 2020! 0 fans or if you don't include matches behind closed doors 2,000! That's every game after the second lockdown ended! 😂😂😂
S.attwell05 they were relocated to Milton Keynes as they needed an all seater stadium as plough Lane wasn’t all seated, so they had to ground share with Crystal Palace, however they were eventually relocated to Milton Keynes and eventually became MK Dons and fans setup a new club called AFC Wimbledon
How come a well attendent premier league this thing the so called wembledon failed to get 15000 supporters is disgrace man they dont belong to premier league they belong to conference league
