I feel like a weapon that might also have deserved to be mentioned would be the blade Durendal/Durandal. Said to be the sword of Hector of Troy before its most famous wielder, the paladin Roland, its blade was said to be as durable and sacred as the swords Excalibur, Joyeuse (Charlemagne's sword) and Curtana the Short. The blade was held to be indestructible, with folklore stating that in his final hours after the ambush at Roncevaux/Roncesvalles, Roland attempted to destroy the blade over stone. Instead, he cut a pass through the area so wide that it has come to be named after him, while the blade remained as pristine as ever. Determined not to let the blade fall into enemy hands, Roland then threw Durandal into a nearby river that had been poisoned recently, and immediately afterward expired.
From the sources i've read, Zulfiqar is just the sharpest sword there is. That's it. It is said to cut through rocks with only a single swing. BUT there is nothing mystical in it. And Ali Ibn Abi Thalib was the strongest man there was. In the war at Khaybar fortress, it is said that amidst the war Ali lost his shield and he instead ripped a big metal door in the fortress and used it as a shield until the war was over. The door was so heavy that even 8 men was unable to lift it. Hence the talismanic inscription in ottoman "There's no hero like Ali, There's no sword like Zulfiqar". But would it gouge a hole into the earth? No fucking way. It's just the sharpest sword wielded by the strongest man. No more, no less.
Although Excalibur itself is powerful enough to make on this list, being a sword that was unbeatable, Aurther's true best armourment as his scabbard. It was an item that, as long as he had it, would make him immortal. Theoretically, it is a "weapon" that could replace Excalibur as the #1 spot.
Sun Wu Kong, the monkey king came back after learning magical skills was looking for a suitable weapon. He didn't get bored with duties, he had none, living in the mountains. He took the weapon and dragon king Ao Kuang complain to Jade Emperor in the heaven then he got duties to perform. I got doubts the stories are told correctly after hearing the 10th story.
This is a fantastic compilation however you have missed the "VIJAYA BOW" from Hindu Mythology that grants the user invincibility and the power to destroy the entire universe.
Okay, so if you read the older stories that are Arthurian, you'll see that Excalibur was not made how you described. It was made before Uther's death so that Arthur could eventually pull it out of the anvil in a church yard. The way you described was actually just the way it was done in BBC's Merlin. In the original stories, Gwen was actually the daughter or a lord or king, not a blacksmith like in Merlin. If you read these stories, you'll see that Merlin (the TV show) is different in so many ways
I love Sun Wukong's staff! It deserved a much better place on this list, although I don't really care since different people have different opinions, but the thing is incredibly badass.
Well if you are considering Sun Wukong's staff. Then you should consider Blades of Ethena (from God of War) as well. In fact you should even consider the Spear of Poseidon. Ya that thing which has the ability to split the sea apart 😤
I am surprised that you never included Thor's hammer, the mighty Mjolner from the Norse mythology. The hammer grants strength, it can create and control the fierce lightening, create tornadoes, control the winds and the rain and only one who is worthy can wield it. Then again it is kind of a predictable choice for this list as most people know what it is thanks to the Mighty Thor comics and to the excellent Marvel Cinematic Universe movies (Thor 1 and 2, and both Avengers films - so far). Still an excellent and well researched list as well as an interesting choice of topic. Thanks 👍☺
The mighty stick, it's a stick that is mighty. Created by the mighty tree Bob, Bob the tree which is mighty, it fell on the mighty warrior Tim. It killed him, and was then picked up by Sue the man with a really strange name for a man and not quite as mighty as Tim, or Sue for short. He poked his enemies with the mighty stick which really annoyed them, they often be heard crying "ow, stop it, ok that is getting really annoying".
look up persus vs kronos from clash of the titans ... basicly zeus lightning bolt and the poseiden spear and the other brother , ruler of hell (forgot name) hades? anyways their 3 weapons can become joined together to become one, now THATS a weapon!
A little disappointed you didn't expand on three things about the Excalibur. First, the Excalibur his pulls from the stone is not the same sword he gets from the lady of the lake. The sword he pulls from the stone is often called "Caliburn" to differentiate the two. Second, the Excalibur Arthur gets from the lady of the lake was the one that allowed the wielder to cut any material, it be magical or not, like a hot knife through butter. Third, the *scabbard* of the second Excalibur made it basically impossible for the wielder to die, as they'd be unable to lose a single drop of blood while they possessed the scabbard, even if they were cut open. With that said, outside of Arthur's Excalibur/Caliburn and Carnwennan, he also had a spear named Rhongomynyad, which would kill nine men each time it's thrown by its original thrower.
Finally a video that talks about the lance of longinus, i've been hoping at some point one of these videos had something on the lance of longinus; personally I would have also liked to talk about Durandal. You know, Durandal, Gungnir, Excalibur, Lance of Longinus and Ama no Murakumo no Tsurugi; if you get were that's from, you get free internet points XD
+Diarakostima the sad thing is that they didn't add any Irish wepons. Like Fragarach which means the answer and can work as the name implies and petrified the enemy and make them answer truthfully your answers and can control the winds like the Chinese sword.
Afif Widiyanto Musthofa 1. Matasya 2. Kurma 3. Varaha 4. Narsimha 5. Vaman 6. Parshuram 7. Shri Ram 8. Shri Krishna 9. Gautam Buddha 10. Kalki(yet to come at the end of Kalyug)...
@@unnikannan8732 I appreciate you for increasing the knowledge but I was referring to the Dashavtar... Whose primary motive is to perform the major duty of Shri Vishnu, to preserve the world and spread righteousness... :)
Top10Archive You named my almighty weapon, at the end 7:00 The mighty stick... The powers are locked within the gem inside of it's hilt, called the mighty thing. It can slay anything and every... yep yep..
The green dragon crescent blade is a famous blade, but not mythical or magical by any meanings. It was known from its user, Guan Yu, who was a great warrior and general. Although he ascended to a deity after death, the blade itself was known as just a mortal weapon. The Ruyi Jingu Bang is never said to be used by anyone other than Sun Wukong. Rather than being used to flatten the Milky Way, it is said to be forged from a type of godly iron found under it. It has another name, The Godly Needle Which Settle Sea. Although there's no known limit to how large it can grow, it is not likely for it to be large enough to fill the universe
Trident, Sudarshana Chakra are the most powerfull in Hindu mythology. These weapons are made by Viswakarma from the sun's core and gifted to Lord shiva. Shiva gifted Chakra to Lord vishnu.
It's really just the player 2 to Excalibur. And in most Zelda games, you gotta complete tasks to upgrade the master sword to its max potential. Excalibur never needed an upgrade
It made me happy that you did so much research on hindu mythology for this video.....just one mistake.....you showed a picture of Lord Shiva in place of Lord Krishna at 1:31.....still great work.....lots of love from India
Gram, the sword used by Sigurd (the Norse Excalibur). Odin stabbed the sword into the tree and the only one who could pull it out was Sigmund (Sigurd's father). Though the sword was destroyed in battle, the pieces were reforged by Regin and was given to Sigurd. The sword could not only cut an anvil in half, but was used to slay the dragon Fafnir
Why not Gae Bulg? An Irish spear said to have been made from the bones of a sea monster. It never failed to pierce its target and opened up into 30 barbs, making removing it impossible without gouging the victim open
There's also *Claiomh Solais* (Nuada Airgetlam's Sword of Light and precursor to Excalibur), the *Spear of Lugh* , which had fire on the tip and call be called back when thrown, *the Dagda's Club* , which could kill and bring people back from the dead, *Fragarach* (the sword of Manannan mac Lir, the Irish sea god), and *Caladbolg* (another precursor to Excalibur).
just to be clear the Zulfiqar was nothing more than just a special sword the story that the video talked about is because Gabriel helped ali and anyway ali was one of the strongest sahaba ( the close friends and allies of the prophet) he was only beaten in friendly combat by the prophet himself in islam nothing is superpowered unless it was given by allah because the hole religion states that allah is the all mighty
true it is Allah that is all powerful, And Zulfiqar by itself is one of the sharpest swords and has great technical advantage among scimitar's. And, in the right hands very deadly.
I guess they don't know about it, al these weapons combined are no match for pashupatastra :D it had the power to turn planets, solar system and even the entire universe into dust
+shocktrooper971 you complete missed the meaning of Mythology didn't you? All of these weapons are just myths, but Death's scythe isn't really mentioned in any mythology...
now i believe Ao-Kuang (Dragon King of East Sea) actually went against Sun Wukong when Sun wants to take the Ruyi Jingu Bang because the rod was sort of "cordoning" or "protecting" the East Sea from natural disasters like tsunami. So after Sun took the rod, the Dragon King declared war on Sun and leading Sun rebelled against the "heaven court"
Here is the top 5 most powerful weapons in the whole universe. 5. Bramhastra (Lord Bramha) 4. Bramha-seer astra (Lord Bramha) 3. Pashupatastra (Lord Shiva) 2. Sudarshan Chakra (Lord Vishnu) 1. Bramhand astra (Lord Bramha)
i dnt know much about other weapons...... but i wd like to tell u about kamodiki gada and gandiva..... kumodki gada was so powerful that wen used it could engulf any weapon normal or magical inside it.., making it a part of itself and it emitted electric sparks in a desired radius........so no weapon or army could stand against the bearer....but sudarshana chakra was much more powerful than kumodiki as it had the power of galaxy itself....and it could destroy any weapon .... it is represented also as the supreme lord vishnu holding galaxy on the tip of his finger..... wen karana fought arjuna on the 17th day of battle of mahabharata..., he used vijaya dhanush(bow) ..., which was gifted to him by his guru(mentor) parsurama who got it from lord shiva himself....vijaya was 10 times powerful than gandiva....it produced sound 10 times the sound of gandiva....there was no quiver ....the arrows appeared on it wen the bearer pulled the string...... lord parsurama used his axe and vijay dhanush before karana...... and he cleaned the earth of kshatriya blood...he made kshatriyas vanish from the face of earth 21 times..... every time he left a few kshatriyas who were against war without necessary reason and lived for the well being of their people.......
Nah mate! King Arthur (if he existed) fought the Anglo-Saxons (The ancestors of the English) to keep them out of the British isles. He wouldn't give a shit about England.
Lloyd Turquoise It's actually a myth that the Anglo-Saxons (don't forget the Jutes) are the ancestors of the English. In fact English blood is very mixed. From Romans to Celts to Viking heritage, English blood and it's DNA are diverse and very inter-dependent on where in England and in fact Great Britain you're from. It's a common misconception that the Anglo-Saxons just fought the Celtic tribes and pushed them out of land and killed the rest. In fact many inter married and Celts and Anglo-saxons lived on land together. The Anglo-Saxon language was to become dominant and that's where the English derive there name (from an Anglo-Saxon word). If you live in the North East of England and South East of Scotland as well as the Orkney and Shetland islands you're more likely to have Scandinavian genes from the days of Vikings and Danelaw. If you're from the South East you're more likely to have Jute and French ancestry. If you're from the North West you're more likely to have Celtic ancestry and if you're from the South West you're more likely to have Celtic and Roman ancestry. The Midlands have quite a variety but they are quite strongly linked to the Anglo-Saxons and the Kingdom of Mercia.
you dont know about hindu mythology and reality...karnas parshuram vijay dhanush. sudarshan chakra, hanuman gada. lord shiva trishul...even you cant compare human made weapons with them...do you know the sword of chandragupta mauryan the famous sword who killed many warriors...same sword was in the hand of great ashoka...who ruled over the world...samadrugupta sword and many more alha udal swords even you cant think to lift and carry rt now its more then 7 ft and 150 kg weight ...visit india you can see that..and maharana pratap sword and spear famous in the world...so our god weapons are more destructible so you cant even compare with hindu great kings...forget about our god...
Who said the weapons are not known? The sword of ChandraGupta and Ashoka the Great is known by all and also the one of Maharana Pratap Singh... And yes its correct, most of the heavenly weapons would not meet the abilities of only these swords. Forget about Sudarshan, Trishul or Vajra. You people really don't know about true India. In fact we ourself don't know everything. Ashoka the Great hid our true knowledge so it do not come in the hands of unacknowledged person.
WOW!!! REALY!!! AWESOME!!!! OMG!!! did u ever heard dead note?? no nid use energy or strategy or anything jus simply put a single name....and u'll die thats all, how bout that huh?? awesome yah??....and i know u'll said BULLSHIT!!! thats bcoz "u dont know about Japaneses manga and reality" bhahahahaha
perhaps you have never heard of Brahmastra. Most powerful weapon of the world indian possessed some 5000 years ago.A weapon more lethal then present atom bomb.
+Daniel rogers the wielder arjuna is said to be ambidextrous so 2 quivers on both sides. It is said that ancient hindu warriors are capable of firing arrows at an extremely high speed. this gandiva bow has not one but 108 strings and each string makes the sound of thunder when used .with so many strings user fires many arrows at once this weapon is kinda op in hindu myth
Yeah but you still only need one quiver for your need for arrows, Its irreverent if you can pick them from both sides of your waist its about your supply of arrows to fire, in fact you dont need to be ambidextrous to able to pick arrows form a quiver either side of you anyway.
he uses bow with both hands with same proficiency .in a war if his right hand gets injured he can switch to lefthand and the dont have quiver on their waist they have it on their back right handers have it on right side while right side handers have it on left so 2 quivers
Jrk Chaitanya I see, but i find it unusual they created a god and thought of his power to deal with an injury, usually gods are just thought with amazing powers and personality's but oh well
The Weilder of Guan Dao(Green cresent dragon blade) was a warrior of his time...It was stated that he was wanted by many king or warlord than an army of 10,000.. Guan Yu was the greatest hero of his time and he is known in Chinese history as The God of war...Due to his courage and loyalty for his lord
There are too many weapons in Hindu mythology. One of all the great weapon is: "Bhramastra" it is like modern days nuclear bomb or may be more than that.
