22:55 - That’s Paris: La Cite leimure (Paris: The City of Lights), not to be confused with Dinner in Paris, or Paris by Kiesling and Kramer (from Game Brewer). (Too many Paris games :))
Can you make a video about mean games? maybe another about chill ones? I feel like it's quite relevant to many people who prefer one or the other play style :)
It's funny but when I started playing board games medium weight games were my favorites: targi, Welcome To, 7 Wonders duel were among those. Nowadays they are probably my least favorite weight class, I either want to play something light and quick (dice throne/codenames from your previous video) or something heavier that feels more worth the time (Mage knight, spirit island...).
I'm surprised you don't have Mythic Mischief - I got mine a few weeks ago, so it shouldn't be too long for you to get it now. BTW the only reason I even considered it was your reviews and it's so much fun
Really enjoy Tak and ALS. Want to get Targi as it seems interesting and offers something different. Wrt Abstract strategy games - have you tried Onitama and Shobu? Two great ones. Think you'll enjoy them.
I have been playing Ethnos, Arboretum and Silver amulet last weeks a lot 2 player. I can really recommend these. I also sold Fantasy Brawl, because I got annoyed by the big Kickstarter box I had and couldn’t justify the space it took and how much joy I was getting from it😂
Was delighted to see this video. Just what I'm thinking about these days, and yours has become one of the main board game voices I want to hear. Here is my feedback: - Recently ordered Paris & Eiffel expansion (for my wife & me, who have wonderful memories of Paris). Very excited. - Was hoping to hear Parks (& Nightfall) discussed, b/c also considering. I know it's artistically first-rank. Excitement in the gameplay, or is it like Cascadia in that sense? - I find the art style of Radlands cool. I'm tempted, but where will I draw the line re. two-player games? - I'd love to get Tak eventually (& Yinsh, Tzaar, Onitama, etc.). Had not heard of Mythic Mischief. Thx. Too many games, too little time.😉
Interesting. I've got a few on the list, but the number 1 two player game I keep going back to is, Blitzkreig! WW2 in 20 minutes. Where would you put that game on these lists, or does it miss out on being a top 10 game for you? H 00t!
Well these are videos worth replying to ;-) Can't wait for the heavy ones! Sold dominion, and don't have Brawl and Tak, so 7 for 10, I'm quite the good listener ;-)
Watergate, Targi, and 7 Wonders Duel are all absolutely solid two player games. I need to try Radlands, but I'm in the same boat of "don't really need more 2 player games".
Currently only core, intrigue, seaside and prosperity have a 2nd edition so you wouldn’t have to resleeve everything. You can also fing upgrade packs for all of those so really not that many cards to resleeve
@@BoardGameCo Oh, I see. That makes sense. As you can tell, I don't really look at the fate of your videos after I watch them, so I thought it was strange at first. But I do recall getting notified about a few vids taken down. Just didn't remember it being this one.
I really wanted to like Super Fantasy Brawl. Played it 3x and just honestly feel like a "brawl". Understand that the game can't just be kill your opponent, but I even found the cards a little difficult to understand from time to time.
Hey Brandon! A game I really like that is super simple to understand and quick to play in the same genre than SFB is "arena for the gods" underated imo. We had a really good time at the office playing this during our lunch break. Be aware it's Friendship crusher lol
You suddenly make me interested in Paris :) I fell in love with Ni-Ju as a two-player abstract game. You are laying tiles trying to complete your patterns while hindering the opponent in completing theirs.
Loved this video so much. Exactly the content I was looking for. 7 wonders duel is the only one I currently own, but super keen to get a few of the others. "little edit coz I forgot my manners" - Thank you 🙂
Welcome to the Moon is exactly the same for me and my partner. She likes the straight forward nature of the single map of the original. I am all for the theme and multiple ways to play. Not delved so much in the campaign
I just got back from PAX west where i brought my SFB box to learn how to play and it was great, made me excited to get home and open the other character packs to see what they can do and i've ordered the last two to complete the collection! I just wish i had the Big Box to put it all in
Great list. I also really really love Paris and getting the expansion. And damn the game is mean. My other favourite 2 players games (or i enjoy playing at 2) are Stellar, Canopy, Caper Europe, Cascadia, Iki, Aquatica and Everdell (can be a little fiddly sometimes due to the cards on the meadow not change fast enough but still very enjoyable).
The house fire analogy opened my eyes. I have a lot of games I don’t want to sell, but wouldn’t rebuy if I lost them. I’d never thought about it like that until someone used that analogy. And yes, I’d rebuy Radlands as well
@@shanerion I think that about everything, all of my possions. There is very little that would be re-bought. Makes me wonder why I still have all this stuff!
Thanks for the list. Lots of crossover with our shelf of 2-player games. We haven’t tried Paris yet - might need to pick it up based on your recommendation. PS - love the t-shirt!
I do enjoy playing games with the OH but I'm much more experienced in board games which I appreciate can make competative gaming frustrating 1v1 if you dont feel equal. So for me couples games would either need to fall under the categories of either Non adversarial, Skill mitgiated/Luck heavy, or narrative/experience focused (Where winning isnt the primary goal).
What is your opinion on 7 Wonders player count? I honestly prefer 4 players over having 7 players. If you have multiple people learning at a 7 player count it can cause issues. Also the draft choices feel more impactful with a lower player count. I've heard other people say the opposite.
