You do of course realize that none of the ding-bats featured here are real people...right? I mean even when they're not in front of the camera, they're acting. They're phony, superficial and shallow. Living in an alternate reality...right?
Talk about 'misunderstanding'... It's not 'unrealistically good looking bookshop owner', ......it's 'unrealistically good looking' (Hugh Grant is often credited for this) book shop owner.
My favorite meet-cute is my own. I saw this really cute guy on the bus, and after a couple of months of catching eyes across the aisle, I got tired of waiting for him to ask me out, so I baked cookies for the other ladies at work, set aside the best looking one for him, put it in a baggie with an awkwardly long rambling note with my number at the end, made sure I caught the right bus, sat down next to him, basically slammed the baggie on his laptop bag, and buried my nose in a book so that I wouldn't have to look at him in case he showed disgust, annoyance or anything like that. 16 and a half months, now.
I've definitely been struck by Cupid's arrow after seeing someone for the first time, but it's never been mutual. I can only dream of having such a moment 😢
+Laura McLaughlin Yes I know what scene your talking about, and it's cute and I love it, but not their first meeting so it has no place being on this list :)
Jamie and Landon - a walk to remember Mocking her speech reveals he knows way too much about this girl he doesn't like. He also laughs along when she verbally defends herself against his friend's insults. Get a room, you two!
Correction: Jennifer Lopez's character doesn't pretend to be a socialite to impress the guy - she happens to be dressing up when he sees her, is attracted to and pursues her, and she goes along with the charade so as not to get into trouble and lose her job.
Best one was Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping. She's a token booth worker who falls in love with with a guy who takes the train everyday. He falls into the tracks and she saves him. His family thinks she's his fiance and she doesn't want to tell them but while he's in a coma, she and Bill Pullman who. plays his brother,, fall in love.
So many meet cutes to choose from. May I offer one that is probably on nobody's radar - Rex Smith and Linda Ronstadt in the film "Pirates of Penzance" (1983). It's really cute as they first interact while she sings "Poor Wandering One". They fall in love immediately.
Plus the Proposal,27 dresses ,The ugly truth,Love Rossie,The back up plan ,Maid in Manhattan ,Life as we known it ,The leap year, Run away bride,My best friend's wedding, 50 first dates. Two B.Jones' Diary and two Sabrina movies on top!
I HATE the notebook. Yes, it's romantic, yes, it's beautiful, but it completely sets unrealistic expectations for all women out there. No man is going to climb a fucking ferris wheel to ask us on a date, no man is going to build our fucking dream home with his bare hands even though we are miles away with another man, no man is going to live in a nursing home with us after we get Alzheimer's, patiently recounting the story of our love everyday and no man is going to die peacefully by our side with us!!!! It is false advertising!!! We will NEVER have that kind of love. *sobs histerically in corner.
You know the main reason to hate it is because their love story was silly. They couldn't even have a complete intercourse-yes, not letting go of your inhibitions to physically feel your partner is the opposite of romantic. Bottom line she was just an inexperienced woman who got impressed by things he did to intentionally impress her- though the different outlooks of life he show her explain her interest. But that's hardly enough. And they are both such awful characters especially Ellie.
When a movie/show is TOO romantic, it becomes mushy to me and then I get unconformable. I love romance in movies, but I've never liked the overly romantic ones like The Notebook or even Titanic.
I watched Notting Hill for the first time a couple of months ago with my mom. She loves it and after I saw it I agreed. It’s so funny and adorable at the same time! ❤️
So is the next one going to be: "Top 10 Meet Horribles in Movies?" You know what I mean, where they meet and there is no chemistry at all, but we watch the movie (or not) anyhow, because we paid our $10??
I think Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in "Woman of the Year" was great. And Cady and Aaron in "Mean Girls." And "West Side Story." And "Annie Hall."
"Chaos ensues. Voices are raised, punches are pulled." "pulling a punch" means holding yourself back which I think is the opposite of what you mean to say here
I had two supposedly meet cutes. They were acting sooo attracted to me. They shared their numbers with me. Later one does not respond, the other is a dude in a girl's body. No emotions at all, she just thinks I am decent. The hopeless romantic in me is sighing after watching these fictional meet cutes.
I love David and Natalie in Love Actually!! You should've included the part where David closes the door behind him and then says, "Oh no, that is so inconvenient." It's amazing when he realizes it.

Ugh, I hate Serendipity with a passion. No one should rely on fate to make their choices. That's just stupid. If you want something go for it. Also, the leads were both terribly self-involved, screwing over their other oblivious, innocent significant others. The Wedding Planner shouldn't be on any good lists. And let's face it, Romeo and Juliet were just two naive teens who fell into mutual obsession. Maybe it could've grown into love if they'd lived but then their love story wouldn't be half as famous. Um, I'm a romantic at heart I swear. But I'm realistic. I did enjoy that Love Actually one. And I don't hate The Notebook one as much as others apparently do.
The Notebook should not be in the list. Guys forcing girls to say yes despite their first rejection is problematic. It does not matter how hot Ryan Gosling is.
I am very disappointed with this list... are these scenarios really the ones that people, particularly girls/women, find to be the most romantic & cute? There are MUCH better ones out there! In my opinion: "The Notebook" scenario is NOT okay just because he's hot - it is messed up; having a man land in your car while you're driving would be horrifying; & people are not automatically trustworthy & cool just because they are celebrities. Some of the others on the list were okay... but just okay. But including "The Wedding Planner" to me is crazy. haha That was such a stupid scene to me, & their chemistry in it was strained & uncomfortable.
Just off of the top of my head, I thought of Travis & Tai ("Clueless"), Henry & Lucy ("50 First Dates"), Cornelius Hackl & Irene Malloy ("Hello Dolly"), & Alex & Sophie ("Music & Lyrics"). I also thought of friendship "meet cutes" like Iris & Arthur in "The Holiday" (which they showed, but did not include on the list.) If I thought about it more, I could probably come up with others, but I have to go do things right now. haha I am interested to see your thoughts on these though, & also, let me know if there were any that you thought were missing from their, or my, list.
And I should have been clear before, I don't disagree with the whole list: "Before Sunrise" does count as a lovely meet cute to me, because their connection & chemistry is so natural.
Meagan Earls OMG! I love your list :3 Yes to all of them... So lovely! I would add The Vow (as I saw someone mentioning). And right now I can't think of any other because I am cleaning the house and it is a mess and I just want it to end, LOL! If I think of any other, I will let you know
I'm cleaning my place too! haha I keep getting distracted though, as I happen to do whilst cleaning, because I hates it... haha I only watched "The Vow" once & it was at a time when I couldn't focus on it fully, so I will have to watch that one again. Please let me know of others. I will do the same. :)
First, in The Wedding Planner, his name is Steve Edison. Which is why his fiance calls him "Eddy". Second, The Notebook's meet cute should not be glorified as romantic. It is emotional abuse. Imagine you have a friend. And someone threatened to commit suicide if your friend didn't date him or her. What advice would you give your friend? My point exactly.
If you want to see a young Leo lookalike look up *Vernon* of the kpop group *Seventeen* . Btw he's my profile pic👈.He may be biracial but the resemblance is uncanny!
