No problem tipping waiters or in some instances table dealers but sure as hell I won't tip machine attendants who process hand pays. This nonsense has got to stop somewhere.
If a host or slot attendant were willing to show me which machines have the loosest pay tables and how to find banking machines that are close to hitting, that would certainly be worth a tip.... Although, not certain if that constitutes a tip or bribe... Maybe that's why they've never given me any advice on the topic.
@@leifleoden5464 There are hustlers who make a living showing tourists where the "hot" machines are. They say something like "only help me out if you win". Sometimes they win. The hustler does not know anything except the fact that there is a sucker born every minute.
Went yesterday. I go to a very small casino called Chicken Ranch Casino. Went to play with $40 if I lose it I leave. Had 3 dollars left and won 110 free spins retriggered few times to 180 spins. Left with 350 so good day. Not huge but way more than 40!
I was just going to say the same thing. I have never tipped, I didn't know you were supposed to....BTW who do you tip? The server who gives you your money, or the Casino?
If you hit a jackpot of $1200 or more, the casino has to give you a tax form called a W2-G so you have to be hand paid by a slot attendant. That is who he is talking about tipping.
It has been a few years ago, but I hit $1800.00 at a casino in Tunica MS. and the attendant came by and gave me my money, after they took out the taxes I would owe to MS, but at the new year I got a slip from the casino and had to be filed with my taxes saying how much money I won. If you have losses on your ID card from the casino, you can put on your tax form and off set you amount you won, and submit to the IRS.
Not so, I took a standard deduction using Turbo Tax on my computer, and was able to deduct all my losses up the amount I won. Like I said it was a few years back, and that may be changed now.
I have never heard of tipping an attendant for giving you your money. I know a couple of hard-core gamblers and they don't tip when they hit big. Is this a custom in certain parts of the country?
I used to take advantage of #10.I even used to go to the casino tapped and work up a bankroll that way. We used to call it "scooping" because we had to actually pick coins out of machines and off the floor. There used to be "leaners" that stood on end in the trays. Sometimes the trays had multiple coins in it. Sometimes, buckets of chips and coins were just laying there in between machines. Then there were credits left on the machine. It was such a lucrative venture, that you could get real aggressive with your betting because you knew that you would always have a way of getting back into action. We would send it in, tap out, and start scooping. We would scoop, send it in and tap out. We would tap out, start scooping so we could send it back in again. It was really like having an unlimited bankroll. A gambling dunk that would normally end after a few days could last weeks or even months. Oh, the good old days!
@@judyhowell7075 So an employee (who already gets paid by the casino) is handed money from the cage by another employee, they walk said money out to you. They then place said money it into your hands & someone gives them 10% of their win. That's beyond insane.
americancasinoguide That's the casinos responsibility not the customer, they should take some of those millions they are making in revenue and pay their employees a livable wage
@@TheJackpotGents and neither does a slot attendant. A server yes. SA's make double minimum wage here mostly so tipping them is basically the same or actually worse than tipping a bank teller who makes minimum wage for handing you your own money you won or made without their help. 5 year old child pulls my 50/50 raffle ticket sure I'll tip $5 that's cute and they helped me win. But $5 tip on a $1,500 win still looks like a cheapskate lol Oh well to each their own. Anyway, these are really good helpful videos I appreciate them.
americancasinoguide don't worry Mike, most of these people die early from being miserable humans (possibly suicide) so no sense trying to talk to him/her. Thanks for the content you provide
Yeah, I also didn't know tipping in slots was a thing. Casino tips tips s weird, I like restaurant tips, it's a straightforward X0% of the bill, more for good service less for not so good service.
The best I ever get out of a casino is mine. I say mine because am a tribal member. It seems not all tribes do this but mine distributes some of its earnings back to its tribal members.
Mike, i would like to add that the range progressives are not only for your machine, but the whole bank. I was playing one a couple of weeks ago that was at 190something, guaranteed to hit by $200. All of a sudden, someone on the machine in front of me got it and it went down to 150 again.
exactly, it would be like going to the biggest fanciest richest restaurant and not tipping the waitress thing that tip goes to the restaurant owner tips DO go to the employee or s that helped you
The USA must be loosing millions of tourist dollars with this tipping thing. I would rather visit a country where you don't have to tip like England, New Zealand, Australia etc.etc
You stated that we should play only when the “firecrackers, bowl etc is almost full on that type of machine. If you read the machine rules, you will learn that those “extra” bonuses are almost all random & has nothing to do with filling it up with whatever.
Correct. What he is suggesting in the video is literally illegal by gambling laws. Each wager (aka spin of the reels / push of the button / pull of the lever) must be considered an independent event for the purposes of establishing probability and odds. You have the exact same odds of triggering the “Firecrackers” in the example that he used when it is 15 chains away, 5 chains away, or 1 chain away. If you say and played the machine long enough you would notice the amount of firecrackers going off each spin would become fewer the closer to 0 you got. You can never actually get the meter to “empty” or “full” through progression. This is a scam / trick to enhance a feeling of anticipation in the player and make them keep sinking extra bets / money into a machine under the false belief that it is “due”. This video is also completely wrong about progressive jackpots for the exact same reason. If a progressive jackpot has been won and resets to $1000.00; you have the exact same chance of hitting the progressive jackpot on the next spin for $1000.01 as you do winning at $5,000.00 or $10,000.00 or $10,000,000,000.00. Each spin is an independent event; and each has the exact same odds of occurrence regardless of how many times and/or how high the jackpot has been bet previously.
@@renshawjoshua Nobody has claimed that playing while the jackpot is high gives you a better chance to hit the jackpot, only that playing while the jackpot is high has better odds. If you have confused the term odds with merely the chance to win, then you should know that in gambling, unlike in statistics, it actually means: "The amount of money I stand to win versus to amount of money I stand to lose." If you apply the basic concept of expected value, then it is obvious that having a higher jackpot is better for the player. Let's say you have a 1% chance to hit a jackpot of 1,000. Your expected value is .01(1,000) = 10. Let's say that the jackpot rises while giving you the same chances. Let's say it rose to 10,000. .01(10,000) = 100. He even says on 2:35, "that doesn't necessarily mean it's more likely to hit, but at least you'll win more money if it does hit." So it's sad to see you imply that he said the exact opposite, or that he doesn't understand independent events.
You tipped for the service of the attendant who brought you the $. If you were satisfied with the service & the amount you gave them, you did just fine. Contrary to many commenters, the tips given for jackpots and handpays do not go to the casino, they go to the attendent. Some say the attendent is unnecessary, however, if not for the attendant, you would have to cash out, leave your machine, go to a cashier, get your winnings confirmed by security going back through the relevent footage of your play up until your hit to determine no foul play with the machine, get your tax form, and determine your pay, and finally pay you. One might be fine doing that, but I think casinos know most prefer having attendents come to you instead so you can at least keep your machine and play other machines while you wait through the process. Slot attendents, like waiters & waitresses, perform a service. Instead of bringing you food/drink, they bring you winnings. Stiffing them on tips is akin to stiffing wait staff. It is of course up to the individual to tip or not. Seasoned attendents absolutely do remember patrons who stiff them and they may prioritize other players needing hand pays knowing it will increase their odds of getting better tips, and keep you waiting till the end.
Mardi Gras (micro) casino has a policy of hand pay on ANY amount of cashout. I got frustrated when the attendant disappeared for 5 minutes while I was trying to cashout $2 and just left. Who gets that money?
Hit a 6k jackpot and didn't tip a dime. I always tip dealers on big hands at tables though. Unlike the people that are hand paying you they actually make most of their money on tips. Uncle sam is taking enough of my jackpot as is.
Tips don't go to the casino, in most casinos they go in a pool shared by all slot attendants at the end of the day or week or pay period. There may be some casinos where the slot attendants keep their tips but that is rare, most go into a pool. Who would ever tip a casino?
Why the hell would I tip anyone when winning a jackpot on a slot machine? They aren't hand-paying me to make it more convenient for me, and they played no role whatsoever in my winning.
I don't understand all those numbers above the slot machines screens. How do you know what type of machine you are playing - progressive or banking or whatever?
Thank you for your channel. I got a new phone and lost my account for VP pro. I have an android so it was not a client installed but it was just a browser based.. Do you know the URL by chance?
My comment has nothing to do with this video but I started reading a comment on here about a roulette bet and it got me thinking. Roulette can be beat. Here's how. It needs to be a team effort. 5 people go to a table the 1st 3 people bet 20 rounds alternating between the main sections. They never play in the same sections at the same time except on #s that have just hit in the event of a back to back hit. The other 2 players will just bet the outsides. They will all always bet on 0 every round. After 20 rounds they walk away, add up and divide their spoils. The only way for this to work is a disciplined honor system among everyone involved. As a group they will never loose a round.
The biggest mistake slot players make is staying on a machine that isn't paying. They have it in their heads that it is "due to hit" and that is a myth. If a machine isn't paying anything, move on to another machine that might be in a better state. They get stubborn and that is a crippler for slot play. Another mistake players make is not play a machine that just hit, especially if it hasn't been idle for very long. One way to know this is to monitor it and if someone just got up and it hit, take at least 20 spins to see if it hits again. If the chair is pushed in and you know it hasn't been played in awhile and it was left with a big win, move on. Machines that are idle could have had their odds changed between players, for both good and bad. Sometimes idle machines for a long time were not hitting previously and their odds were changed for the better. Take the 20 spin method on that machine to see if it is in a good state. If it is not, then move on.
The only thing I disagree with is this idea your tips can be frugal because you give the casino enough. The attendants get paid LESS because of the tips
Correct some of the people that work there only make 10 or 12.00 an hour and deserve it especially if you're friendly with them and they root for you!!!!!
Another reason not to play a machine with credits in it; a scammer who deliberately leaves credits in the machine could complain to the casino and try to claim your winnings or even sue you for "stealing their money.". I don't know if it still happens but it was a common scam in Vegas. Always be sure to cash out any credits left in the machine before putting in your own money.
I wasn't trolling to find a slot machine with credits on it, actually asked a couple of people sitting next to it before I played it, but on first pull won $650 - lol♥️💜♥️
Mike or American Casino Guide, can the Casino change the perct of a slot machines payout? Mike says to take advantage when the casino is giving higher odds on slot machines, like 3X or 5X. But cant the Casino management just lower the slot machine payout perct???
A casino can always change the chip in the machine in order to change the payback percentage. However, it is a time-consuming process and paperwork must be submitted to the state to let them know of the change. Therefore, casinos don't change them very often. Basically, a casino has a philosophy of what they want to make on each denomination of machine and they set all of the games in that particular denomination at around the same payback percentage.
If you say you should tip, why the inverse percentage in relation to jackpot size ? That seems to go against the rational for tipping in the first place.
Whether someone is bringing you $1,200, or $12,000, it requires about the same amount of work on their part. They just need to fill out the paperwork and bring you the money. If they are giving you a check rather than cash, which you can usually ask for, then it's the exact same amount of work on their part. If you gave a flat 2%, then for $1,200 you would be tipping $24. For $12,000 you would be tipping $240. I don't know about you, but I don't think I would want to give that large of a tip. I would max it out at $100, which is about 1/4 of 1%. I have gotten many $4,000 royal flushes and I always gave a $20 tip. The attendants seem to be fine with that amount.
Some slot machines like the Haus or Robbin Hood or others like it will reset to a nee program . So if the machine is not paying than pull out your card and cash out. Let the machine reset. Takes about a minute than play takes about three tries to hit a jack pot.
lol so now you must be a millionaire. hey everyone gary figured out how a random number generator pays out. just let the machine reset. so everytime someone leaves a machine then the next person comes, as long as it sat a few minutes you too can win a jackpot. just use your lucky dollar while eating a chicken wing and saying please works easier. i hit a major jackpot that day. wait one time i won when my wife used the restroom. thats the ticket, no wait 1 time i won when i had only drank half a beer, coors light bottle its the only beer that works tho. wait wait go to essence and buy a prerolled joint , smoke most of it then tell someone in a black suit you are leaving today so they leave you alone with their timeshare bullshit, then get elbowed by an 87 yearold. i have won many jackpots doing this . youre welcome
Watching this made me feel bad cause I never tipped when I won $2000 in the Venetian on my 40th birthday ( I spent enough to get my money back)... but reading comments... I feel better!!!!
Why in the HELL would any of you tip a slot attendant that is doing their job? They are not serving drinks and are not there to do anything but pay out handpays. Absolutely asinine to give them any money. Save it for the cocktail waitress
Some people work for minimum wage plus tips! I don't agree with you there! I've worked for casino's my whole life and jus because you are losing you don't have to not tip a good worker! That's how they make a living is from tips and most likely they are pooled tips anyways!
If you leave money in the machine the casino is supposed to donate that money if one of their people cashes it out. Do they actually donate that? If I want to leave $0.03 in a machine for the next person, what's the crime in doing so? And why do casinos kick people out for finding that extra money? I guarantee that money wasn't left for the casino to have
i left money in the machine twice on purpose on the blackjack slot. i started with $20 and the min bet was $1. somehow it ended up with .10 cent and .80 cents left.. i was like i can't play so fudge it.
I noticed that cacinos pay back to the public on certain days such as 14th to the 18th or 28th to the 4th like in New Mexico those are payout days also promotional days.
lmao my bro put $20 into a 1 dollar machine and did max bet of 3. ended up winning 2700 and LEFT the casino. he didnt even tip the guy. (thb i didnt even know to do that)
1 tip Play on weekday only. 2 tip stay away for fancy machines only play old machine 3 tip use member card all the time. 4 tip put $5 to $20 bill only. Tip 5 play for fun only.
I realize he said "It's the law" but if i were playing at a tribal casino would I be able to partially cash out a jackpot of more than 1,199 say 1.000 cash and get the 200 or more in chips to skip tax forms.
You have to be careful doing that in a casino. In many states, the law says that any abandoned credits belong to the casino so you can be arrested for theft. In colorado, there are stories of people being arrested for cashing out as little as $2 from a machine and keeping it
Not tipping is wrong the casino workers make minimum wage not millions. Oh boy I've left money in the slot before the most was $200 when I went back it was gone
Bit unfair if you live outwith the US and come in for a holiday any previous points from previous visits are scrubbed from your players card and you cant get any use of any promos. TI are the worst they gave us nothing at near the end of our stay yet we played slots every day there and spent on eats😱🇺🇸.
I play one slot and i really don't get it i just like it it's called sweet skulls the most i won was 170 but i go to casino for the bingo and they allow tipping when you win 2 dollars is my tops forget that the person paying me didn't make me i should tip the balls they're the ones that came up lol
My non-gambling friend showed me a neat trick walking into the casino one night. He took out two one-hundred dollar bills and folded them in half and then neatly tucked it into his pocket. Two hours later, he unfolded the bills outside in the parking lot and asked me "Hey did YOU double your money?"
Ive never heard of tipping when winning on a slot machine, and never have and never will (not to mention they only happen every few years). I can’t believe people actually think they have too lol I’ll tip dealers when playing tables though, I feel thats a common situation based on the social experience of playing and if they make the experience more entertaining ill tip more often as well.
In the old days when people played with coins the slot attendants dead a lot more work. They had to refill the machines, empty the machines and do a bunch of other things as well. Because they were on the floor doing a lot of manual work and making sure that people got paid or got coins for their dollars people tip them for their labor. It's different now because the machines can accept dollars and tickets., And from what I've seen they aren't doing much when they count out your money. I want a number of jackpots and did not even know that tipping was something that I could do or would be nice to do. But should I win another jackpot in the future I will tip a little bit for Good karma.
A good friend of mine is in management at a casino and told me first hand that his casino is rigged and will make people lose who don't tip when they win big! They ultimately select who wins and who loses! Casinos are really just a scam!!
The casinos don't decide who wins and loses on their machines. It's all based on random luck, except for video poker, where there is some skill involved in how you play your cards.
This weekend was the first time I ever went to a casino.. I did pretty good for my first time.. and until I just watch this video... I never would have guessed in a million years that you are supposed to tip on a big win... I hit $1, 000 on the slot machine and I did not think for one second to give a tip.. if I would have lost all my money and I would have went to the Hostess and said can I get a tip I just lost all my money.. something tells me she's going to laugh and give me nothing.. Sorry people not a chance in the world I would give a tip
