Im running Alchemist Code, Dragon Ball Legends and Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. Used to play play almost half the games on this list. I think Dissida should be on any list but thats just me.

As someone who plays 15+ gacha games at any point in time, I can tell you exactly why DFFOO isn't on the list: There is jack shit to do in the game, the events are boring and take 10 minutes to complete, the vast majority of content can be autoed, it's not hard to max out a weapon because the rates are a bit *too* generous, and the story is completely and utterly uninteresting, and that's before you even touch on the main game it is based off of being one of the biggest flops of the year it was released in. The one thing DFFOO has going for it is how utterly easy it is. It's great for people who generally aren't good at video games. I'm not saying this as an insult, but as an observation. Compare this game to FFBE, Alchemist Code, even Phantom of the Kill or the early Brave Frontier bosses (that game went to crap eventually...). Heck, even Valkyrie Connect, which is autoable, is more difficult simply due to the time necessary to set up for fights. Anyone who plays gacha games seriously will want content to flex on. DFFOO has done a remarkably abysmal job at providing that, despite the game engine, graphics, soundtrack, localization, and even the final fantasy title all being fantastic. The content is just... easy.

The only problem with Opera Omnia that its summon focusing on weapons and other equipments so that's why it isn't on this list. And you can only get the heroes from story mode and events.

I'm surprised that Bleach Brave Souls isn't above games like DanMemo and Strike Force. The game is super F2P friendly, has an active coop mode and has been adding new content that's waaaay more difficult to make the game more fun

BBS combat system is insanely unique. the amt of events and free orbs makes the game INSANELY F2P. Playing both Knight's Chronicle and BBS, I'd say BBS tops it in terms of F2P. Just my 2 cents. Totally agree with you though.

I just started BBS last night, I think the thing that keeps it from being great is that the new player experience is woefully bad. The menus feel really dated, the tutorial is as bare bones as it gets, you're given no real bearing on how to play optimally and indeed are given several ways to potentially screw yourself very badly in the early stages of the game, to say nothing of the reality that the powercreep from season to season is absurd (just like the series!)

You have some points but it's actually a really great game in terms of time invested/what you get balance. The gameplay is fun, you don't have to get multiple dupes of characters to be effective, generous with monthly orbs. No super annoying inventory mechanics. It has an initial learning curve but it's pretty simple once you know what each thing does.

No mention of Granblue Fantasy? It's playable in english and on PC without emulator. Also it's really free to play friendly as the only stuff you gotta pay for are extra costumes which only change dialog and look but nothing else. They also hand out Free Draws rather often.

I would put Alchemist Code at #1 and move KC down one. I barely played FGO but I know it has a huge fanbase. The only problem I have with it is the attack animations. I really wanted to play KR but my phone kept crashing it. But I might play them later. And TAC was a huge refresh to most of the rpgs which were 2d and most of it saved to the SD Card.

I really recommend the japanese version of alchemist code for people that speaks that language. Is super F2P, and around 2 months ago it got an update where you can play live pvp battle with a draft system similar to MOBAS. Basically the two players take turns to draft from a random pool of héroes that do not belongs to any player, this héroes have max stats, they are fully equipped,, etc. and once the draft ends from the six characters you chose you pick 3 to fight the enemy player. It is really fun to play, and the best thing is that you can use a lot of units you dont even own.

Knights Chronicle has nice polish and a good look but the in game mechanics are designed to be frustrating, especially the inventory. It's the only game on the list that I get tired playing it because of the management aspects.

You get thousands of free gems to spend on the expansion slots, if you didn't do it then it's your fault. I got my rune slots to its max of 500 and I do my homework by salvaging useless 6 stars, now I have only 200/500 good runes (minimum of 2ATK/HP substats/etc), and my hero slots are at 555 currently, and still got no problem with it, and still manages to summon 10x to get that Morrigan. Now i'm left with 200ish gems, and I'm a free player.

It's still a boring inventory management game, because of it. The game itself would be a ton more fun if after every few missions i didn't have to sell characters or use them as fodder. They make you do all this time wasting stuff to keep you on the game. The dailies are long and complex including events. They want you logging on every 3 hours for the gold mine. There is tons of RNG built into the game with hero talents and runes. It's pretty clear the game is built to keep you on it and for whales/people who wanna spend all day wasting away.

What are you talking about. I haven't even boosted my slots once and I don't suffer this issue. In between selling all my gold mons and leveling up /ranking up my units for gems there's never been a issue where you should be hoarding every unit you see. Same with runes. You need to delete every non 6rune and focus on those when you run the rune dungeons. It sounds like your hoarding units and not ranking and leveling tbh

No i'm complaining about the fact they expect you to collect it every 3 hours as if we have nothing better to do. They do this to keep you on the game, thinking about the game all the time. They added RNG runes with insane amounts of RNG and added 6 tiers of runes, 5 of the tiers are absolutely useless. Why did they do this? Simple, noob traps so people spend gold and waste time on the game. Adding 5 tiers of useless runes packed with RNG is just a joke of game design.

Ok, FG, if no one else is going to say it, I will. Your list is absolutely, 100% CORRECT! Your top two Hero collector RPGs are the two I actively play and even though I tried to walk away from KC and FGO I was called back in like it was a Siren's Song. I've played alot of Gacha games and deleted them. Some even after spending quite a bit of money on. But those two games are the only ones I re-downloaded and continue to currently enjoy. Then tell me why every official translation up until 2017 used the word Artoria? Because that was established as her name. Hell even translations of some Type-Moon novels that came out AFTER FGO english version still use Artoria. They're just too stuburn to admit they're wrong. Every oficial manga/novel translation, every official anime sub and dub, every game localised up until that point has the name Artoria. Also please do tell what is the femela version of the name Arthur? cuz it sure as hell isn't Altria. If she was called Altria then why did people not call her King Alt? I can confirm on Knight Chronicle rank No.1 . So far the least paywall mobile RPGs I have played. Nice animation, interesting story with goofy characters, generous stamina and crystal system, boobs. The inventory might seem overwhelming at first, but when you get used to it, it become alot easier

No Granblue Fantasy? What other game regularly gives free 10-draws, have both weapon and character collection tied together, regularly have story events (including crossovers with Attack on Titan, Tales of series, Persona 5, Detective Conan, Card Captor Sakura, and both Idol Master as well as Love Live series) and having an actual end game like a proper online game? Oh, also a proper anime that's actually pretty good. The only issue is its more web-based content, but eh, you can also actually play this game without Wi-Fi because you can actually set the graphics settings. Nice for people in places where data isn't easy to get.

Being that its web-based content makes it better. More optimized to go beyond the limitations of mobile games using an IOS or Android Structure. Even the App is a lite browser with the game inside. Which may be why they are able to overload the game with so many options and events. And I am not complaining. I can't put the game down. Is there any other Gacha out there that can really suck the life out of you without hitting your bank account? Potential Player's beware! This gacha is not for the casual player at heart. Its fun but the game keeps you hooked in until your battery dies. And then once you think you finally have freedom, you click on your PC's browser and continue playing. The gacha's you will find in the app stores are all lite drugs of gambling and meth. Granblue is a daily line up of free heroin.

But what can I say? Shadowverse is really cool and has characters from both Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy, with fun mechanics like Spartacus, Deus ex Machina, Rhinoceroach, Darkfeast Bat, and the entirety of Vengeance Bloodcraft. On top of Cygames famous generosity.

This is a great list! A lot of these games look great and I know lots of people who can vouch for a lot of them. For the FGO one I thought you were gonna say that the localization team sucks lol (IDK I play JP has more charm to it, but I guess I understand that some people don't like reading translations and stuff) I always get a weird vibe from the NA version, but it's probably because I've been playing JP for a long time and I've been a fan of the Fate series (And they didn't call saber Artoria which is probably one of many weird decisions they've made). Take my words with a grain of salt tho because I'm probably infected with the "I watch anime subbed not dubbed thus I am superior" disease.

For great mobile gacha games, I'd definitely recommend Sword Art Online : Memory Defrag. I've been playing it since the game came out for global and its definitely one of my favorite mobile games. The game is real-time, and auto isn't a thing, so you'll have to use you're own skills and strategies to beat bosses. It doesn't have amazing 3d models or cinematic effects, as it uses sprites instead, but the gameplay feels super crisp and is one of the most enjoyable of what I've played. The control scheme is unique, although that also means it takes some time to get used too. Once you get the hang of it, it'll feel like second nature! The game has no energy system, so you can do events whenever you have time and don't need to feel rushed when you can't play. Most ranking events are a blast as they feature bosses with special patterns that you can adapt and learn to. Practically all of the characters have you unique SS3s (Sword Skill 3), such as teleportation, frame-lock, or immunity frames. This makes a vast majority of ranking runs have individual strategies, as everyone will only have access to characters they have rolled or previously got from events. Ranking events are based solely off speed and damage taken, so the people with more time can't solely rank up by grinding out the event, strategy is a must. Being unlucky in the first few gatcha rolls can make starting off kind of difficult compared to someone who lucked out, and you might find yourself lacking in units or weapons that are strong against a boss; but I can say this definitely disappears soon as you amass equipment and characters. Not to mention the game is very generous with the amount of diamonds they give you, including rate-ups, discounts, and guaranteed scouts if you are unlucky. There are daily enhancement material and EXP pot quests for you to do, combined with the no energy restraint, means that leveling up characters will never be a hassle or pain-stakingly long. tl;dr fun real-time gameplay; awesome abilities; hotel; trivago

I can see where you're coming from; no auto means that you can't grind out quests easily, while allowing your hands to be free doing other things. And some days you may not be able to give your attention to the game, other days you might not be able to sign in at all; and missing rewards or events because of this is a bummer. But I think Memory Defrag handles it very well. As I said before, there's no energy system, so even if you can't play, you didn't really waste any energy, and you can even complete events on the last day if it comes down to that. All events have an (EX) difficulty that's easy to farm, and doesn't require 100% of your attention to do, but still gives plenty of event points or equipment depending on the event. If you really want to do the harder difficulties, you can go on a multiplayer lobby to fight with 2 other people, making quick work of most bosses. Besides that, no auto makes ranking events cool and diverse depending on the characters you have. You can have an arguably overpowered unit, but if you don't know how to use them against the boss, or integrate them within your team, then you'll find them inefficient despite what people say. On the flip side, a unit may seem weak at first glance or for the current event, but prove to be useful later down the road once someone figures out how to use them, or abuse a certain quality they have. I don't know how auto would work, but I think Memory Defrag benefits without it. Either way, that's just my opinion.

I played it since launch day, figured the game would be way better than the anime (which is fact lol) but...the constant cheaters in the ranked events put a sour note on it. They should had implemented a separate ranking system for whales rather than include them in different brackets disregarding "power level". The combat was fun, learning to parry was actually the greatest accomplishment in ANY mobile game for me lol. While you do need an initial strategy at first, it gets repetitive quite quickly. They recycle old boss sprites with similar moves, gacha rates were ok but the game definitely still relied on a discount bundle to be purchased. The prices were insanely high (32.99 USD for a x10 pull). I have no qualms about the auto, if you're going to be playing a game in the first place, then play it manually. I don't get why some people say a game has to have an auto feature to be great. If the game was heavily geared towards grinding then yes, an auto feature would benefit those who do not have the time to play much. Other than that, no use complaining. I personally prefer the integral factor game, in terms of gameplay at least, the gacha rates aren't that f2p friendly.

First off, thanks for the detailed response! :D I have been playing since it launched, at least for global, and I definitely get what you're saying. The MD prices are totally overpriced, although I generally stay f2p anyway. On that note, the discounts, step-up scouts, and record crystals make being f2p a ton more possible. They do recycle bosses frequently, albeit with one or two different moves, which can be disappointing. I've lost count of how many times we've fought against a Kobold Lord or Gleam Eyes. Not to mention Flying Bosses are just frustrating to fight against xD. Some really nice bosses have been released too though, like Dullahan, which was a blast to learn the pattern of, and felt really rewarding to parry. But, yeah, new bosses in general would be much appreciated. I actually really like the idea of ranking brackets based on "power levels"; brackets were a nice idea already (allowing more than one player to get 1st place rewards), but whales can still make it difficult to rank high regardless. Power level brackets would give beginner players, or just unlucky players in general, a chance to get limited rewards, like Medal Scout units. Although recently I feel like the power creep is slowly settling in, as I'm having a much more harder time ranking with some of my older units if I can't get anything from the newest banner. But there's a high chance that's just me being bad at the game, and it's all in my head lol. I personally haven't played Integral Factor, so I don't have an opinion on the game. It looks like it's more suited to a tablet rather than a smaller phone, which might be why I haven't tried it haha!

Have you try clearing the 4-star advent dungeon? Sure, KC does not have the depth of others game(just released for a month actually, looking forward for its updates in future) , but it's not that 'simple'. You can't simply clear the end-game dungeons without strategising first.

I really like onmyoji combat it was fun, but i was overwhelmed by how much differents modes and thinks you need to do in that game, from who you level up yourself, your skills, your characters, etc also you can grind past battles that you 3★ and you need to be in the game to often

TAC sucks, it consumes a lot of time grinding. The multiplayer mode, omg. Takes 10-20 minutes. You need to grind equipment, gears, souls. It takes months to MLB the farmable characters. Damn

I've played FFBE for a while now. There's tons of content there. Either go through the long-lasting story, enter around monthly events, summon new units, do incredible amount of damage with your own methods, etc. Great game, but lapis is extremely expensive, so I recommend spending cash on bundles. You can play for free and usually there's no downside for not using your money for units. You get summon tickets at a decent rate, so you can save them on future units!

I've been playing Brave Frontier for years and spent a decent amount of money, without the best results. for the past few months I have been addicted to Danmemo and play daily as a f2p and have made great progress. I give the edge to Danmemo

Good list, as for FGO, My take on that is there isn't much reason to play it other than for the units/heroes. You'd only be frustrated playing it F2P, specially if you don't get your favorite heroes.
