Top 10 Most Accurate Rifles On The Market

Long range hunting is a question of accuracy and precision. How well do you get the rounds on target, and how easy can you repeat that? For that, it is worth testing them with groups of 5 shot each and to see how tight the groups can get. If you see how accurate and precise they are, it is a no brainer to zero them to your needs and the range you want to hunt at.
However, if we do look at accuracy, there is another factor to think about besides the rifle itself, and that is the ammo. There are rifles out there that do shoot well with one kind of ammo, but a really good rifle should print tight groups with a variety of factory loads.
When you look at the guns on this list, you will find some that cost quite a bit, some that are more affordable, some that are specifically made for hunting, and some that are made rather for competitions. In the end, all of these factors might be important for you when making a buying decision. For this list, however, it is only important that the rifle in question shoots a tight group with a variety of factory ammo.

I've fine tuned a Remington BDL 30/06 made in the 70s with firefomed brass. The groups are one jagged hole @ 100 and at 200 it has punched out 1.2 in groups consistently. Half min. accuracy is going to take care of anything. Last Saturday I bagged 2 axis with one 150 gr. Sierra pro hunter bullet, axis #1 got it Tru the neck and axis #2 got it Tru the spine, never got a 2 for 1 when it comes to deer before then. Bravo.

I have a Remington BDL Varmint (heavy 24" barrel) in 22-250 Rem. It's box stock; no tuning except a free-floated fore end. I bought it new in 1970. With various handloads, it is essentially a 3/8" - 1/2" rifle at 100 yards, but with one Winchester load it really likes, it will group 1/4" easily. It's had a little over 1100 rounds though it. At 220 yards, I can usually count on groups of 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" inches. I never "broke in" the barrel as many folks do, but have always routinely cleaned the barrel every shooting session, usually 20 - 30 rounds.

I have 10 rifles from Remington to Weatherby to Sako and two or three mild "customs." All are hunting rifles and each one has grouped under 1/2" @100 yds.-BUT most of them have required at least a little tuning. Almost thirty years ago I befriended a great gunsmith who has since passed. In one of our conversations, he told that it was a rare rifle that he couldn't extract one MOA from, but he couldn't tell his customers that because he didn't know how well THEY could shoot. Sounds like there's a message in there somewhere.

My dadgum model 1500 Howa still has the record for my smallest group ever. Three shots into a single hole the size of a cigarette butt pointed right at your face. My 30/06 and my 308 Ruger American will do the same thing, but I think that the bullet size simply makes a bigger hole than I can cover with a nickel, and that's not too shabby. My 243 Howa doesn't care if it's Remington or Winchester 100 gr. Soft points either. Hard to believe that the companies are finally making precision products at an affordable price these days. We don't have to build them like they do in Quantico Virginia for my Marines anymore, you and me both have the access to the good stuff now.

I have a Fierce Carbon Edge 6.5 PRC hunting rifle with a carbon fibre stock and a 24” fluted steel barrel. IT came with target where it printed a 0.34 moa 3 shot group with factory Hornady ammunition. I reload with 156 gr Berger bullets and get pretty much the advertised 0.34 moa. Sometimes a bit better and sometimes a bit worse. Usually my 3 shot groups are under 0.40 moa. It is one of my most accurate rifles. Very impressive for a rifle that weighs only 7 lbs.

I will put my little Winchester Lightweight Carbine 30-06 against any of these rifles for "hunting" anyday and twice on Sunday's. Its taken moose, elk, antelope, black bear, mule deer and whitetail consistantly with 1 shot. It is touchy on ammunition, whether handloaded or factory but it easily achieves 3/4" groups at 100 yards and frequently better depending on the load. I will take the reliable 30-06 anyday over the 6.5. Way more versatile and a true hunting bullet. You keep talking 6.5 and long range. Thats the problem with many hunters nowadays. They want to make hunting into long range bench shooting. Give us real hunting rifles on a list and not fancy little hybrid bench rifles that i would be surprised to be able to ever stand the test of time hunting in real conditions like we face here every year in Canada.

@gtzmwt LOL, I am 50 years old and have been hunting and target shooting since I was a little boy. Take a look at some of your older cartridges. For instance, 260 remington they are nearly the same. There's not much difference. Then you look at the 6.5 rem mag, out performs it, so did the 264 win mag, and there are others. And they all can shoot the same weight of bullet at higher velocities with more knockdown. Have they made higher BC bullets for the 6.5's .... yes. But outperform other cartridges that were made years ago. No. That's why I say a whole lot of hype.

I was once told that precision shooting is 50% of the rifle's capability and 50% of the shooter's capability. I have since learned that this is an absolute truth...!!! Rather than listening to anyone who claims a certain gun is bad and another is good without that person first possessing the credentials of being a phenomenal shot, you should really test yourself first, then ask others the actually shoot amazingly, and only then make up your own mind. Anyone can shoot a lot but not everyone can shoot well. Hell, thanks to video games like Call Of Duty, the world thinks that the Barret M-82 is the epitome of long-range precision rifle but on the other hand, many people on the Snipers Hide forum refer to it as "the Barret M-82, 50 BMG Shotgun". Even though the US Military has pushed the Barret M-82, the Macmillan TAC-50 holds 3 of the top 6 longest confirmed kills on record, including "THE" current longest confirmed kill at 3772 yards. You just gotta hand it to those damn Canadians, LOL. Why hasn't any gaming company or Hollywood started mentioning the McMillan Tac-50? Why hasn't the US Military started buying Tac-50's? Probably because those in the US military that make those uninformed decisions also bought into the BS. So who do you trust and believe? Hollywood, the COD crowd, or those that take long-range precision shooting very seriously? The real question that everyone needs to ask themselves is if they can outshoot their rifle or if their rifle can outshoot them? My Remington 700 PSS will consistently do 1/4 MOA groups at 300 yards with Federal 168gr Match ammo. For those that don't know, that's 3 rounds under a nickel, (under 0.835 inches), with me behind it anyway. My 700 PSS is a true "Tac Driver" but I also know that I can outshoot that gun. Back in 2012, I was rich enough to buy exotic toys and I was thinking about a Barret M-95 or M-99. Yes, I also bought into the hype and I'm also one of those that firmly believe that a bolt gun will always outshoot a semi-automatic so the Barret M-82-A1 wasn't even in the running. I did some serious research though and instead, opted for a custom-made left-hand version of the Macmillan Tac-50 A-1 R-2 and ordered it straight from McMillan Arms in Arizona. Those Canadian Armed Forces snipers continue to confirm that I made the right decision. Regretfully, since I live in North Carolina, 1100 yards is the longest distance range that I have found to shoot it at. Even on somewhat windy days, that gun will easily do better than 1 MOA at 1100 yards with Hornady 750gr A-Max Match ammo but that is no surprise because at 1100 yards my balistic dope tells me that the 750-grain match bullet is still traveling at over 1900 FPS, pretty much laughing at wind. I am however really looking forward to traveling out west to see if the TAC-50 can out-shoot me or if I can outshoot it, LOL.

Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, ru-vid.comUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.

Same here I have a rem 700 2506 make a 6.5 creedmoor run and hide
@jeffbrooks8288

I shot a 25-06 Rem 700 for many years with hand loads achieving sub .5 MOA consistently. I loaded for many calibers and shot lots of different rifles and calibers at my range. Nothing could ever touch the 25-06 for accuracy out to very long distances. I never could understand why it’s popularity didn’t soar much higher? Probably because the one gun crowd wanted a single caliber to cover everything up to and including elk. Thus the popularity of the 7mm for example. Now, because I no longer hunt and don’t need a 25-06 or .338 etc., I’ve limited my rifle collection to NATO calibers for all of the obvious reasons. But I do wish sometimes that I had kept that beautiful old Rem 700 in 25-06.

I have no doubt that the rifles listed in this video have some decent quality geared toward accuracy but to me it all came across as just a eight minute long commercial trying to generate revenue for this channel. I own and have owned Tikka rifles that will shoot sub-MOA with factory ammo and with my hand loads they can and have just stacked bullets at the conventional 100-yard targets. Another thing about this video is that I've kind of grown weary of hearing about the 6.5 Creedmore. It's a good round but, there are many other cartridges what will do the same thing as the Creedmore.

Most modern bolt actions are subMOA with good ammo. A Ruger American will get you there.

NYPD just bought SAKO precision rifle system products with millions of dollars. I wonder why? Maybe because they know it is very precise. Brand name Tikka is also a SAKO product. Both Made in Finland and part of Benelli company.
