Isaac's heart got worse (or at least still sucks)! Change my mind. Reason: it lost all of its game break mechanics that allowed you to pay blood donation like effects for free! Btw #10 and #9 may seem a bit weak compared to some of the HMs to some of you but I still fell like they deserve the spot. Both Tech 2 and Heamolacria were always at a point were ppl liked the concept but mostly skipped them because of the DPS downgrade. 2 very iconic Isaac Items that got a lot better in Rep, I think they have to be on the list!
@@x0v8 it lost alle of its gamebreak synergies tho (you can't pay blood donation for free anymore etc.). Thats the reason why I can't include it in such a list without bad feelings, intentional or not.
I just realized that the d infinity reference to delirium’s design, because the d infinity changes into other dies, and delirium changes into diff bosses
And it’s much harder than AB or like, any of it’s predecessors, which I think was a fantastic change. Add that with the many item changes and I think it’s the best BoI we have.
Perdón por corregir, pero solo lo digo por si quieres mejorar tu inglés. Si utilizas just en una frase para decir que acabas de hacer algo, tienes que usar el presente perfecto. Por ello, lo correcto sería decir: I HAVE just pickED
@@pobladorestringido4572 entonces una pregunta podria haber puesto "i picked up" en lugar de "i just pick up" ? Perdon es que mis niveles de ingles no son tan buenos
Cain was such a freakin' boring character from Rebirth to AB+. Just completely uninteresting even with the addition of Paper Clip. Giving Lucky Foot the PHD effect back makes him so much more interesting. I don't disagree with any placements here (aside from maybe converter, I still don't find many places where it's useful even now), but I just wanna mention that Broken Modem went from a run-ruiner to a potential run-winner. The thing is absolutely ridiculous now.
Although it since got nerfed, i would like to add that it was literally twice as good I'm early repentance comparing it to afterbirth plus, so it deserves the spot imo
@@keiharris332 I'm going to miss old Dark Bum. The first time I picked him up he legitimately carried it. Caveat, I'm not good at the game. However, I wasn't getting too lucky with items. Not a lot of health ups, a lot of space bar items. Damage was barely keeping up with the floors. But getting a lot of red health drops. In comes DB picking up all that useless red health and turning it into health I could use. The next run I got him again floor 1 and he proceeded to earn me guppy (who I love with a passion even through his nurfs (damn you Ed)) plus brim. So I have a bit of a soft spot for the chap. He didn't win me every run (I am bad after all), but I always took him for the potential if I could.
It's busted. for a 2 room recharge, you get: directable holy light bombardment, invincible damaging dash attack that passes through enemies (and sends holy airstrikes to nuke anything in your path), +0.5 speed, and flight. Holy light beams have a large area of effect, and you can point multiple of these bad boys directly on a single enemy because you can pass through the enemy. And if you dash into an open door, the entire effect CARRIES into the next room, invincibility+holy light trail included. AND THIS ITEM LITERALLY CHARGES TWICE AS FAST AS CRACK THE SKY, Like bruhhh
Haemolacria is a really good item now though if you wanna go for the beast fight it is like the worst one if you have high range(you practically can't hit the beast or any of the horseman)
Regarding the honorable mentions, Eve's Mascara was such a puzzling item to me pre-repentance due to how outside of a very few specific builds, it was always a straight downgrade due to the older shot speed mechanics. Like what was that even supposed to do? Now it's actually something I'm glad to run into. Bob's Rotten Head on its own is a nice buff, but 4.5 Volt is what skyrockets it into one of the best anti-armor weapons in the game. Only explosive attack armor piercing attack (Sorry Dr. and Epic Fetus) that straight up scales with Isaac's damage and really shreds any armored boss. Doesn't even ask you to get into melee range of an enemy too.
@@ardaoguzhan8181 Tear multiplier went from 0.5 to 0.66, meaning that it's a 33% DPS increase instead of an item that doesn't affect your DPS in most builds.
Personally, I always understood it as an item that sped up the snowballing effect of already strong runs. Who needs good fire rate when you have a single piercing homing tear of 300 damage doom? Also it was just a DPS upgrade for Tech X and Trisagion, so it had that.
@@WaluTime Yes, like Delirium, not like a Lirium. I totally understand, but there's a common factor between all the dices. A D, and the number of faces.
There have been a lot of great buffs, and I'm betting many players arent aware of most of them yet simply because there's such a silly amount of items to mess with. Takes quite a bit of experimenting to really learn what things can do now. One of my favorites is King Baby. Used to be an utter waste of space. But now? I'll put it this way: it's always an insta-buy if I'm using Lilith. Well, good with shooty familiars in general (many of which were buffed) but definitely best on Lilith. No reason to bother aiming anymore. No reason to bother being anywhere near the target, either. Drop it and run, and then hide behind a rock and laugh.
I love the new isaac's heart. It made it's way from RIP Eden streak unless you get lucky to find a break to a very powerful item if you can use it well
@@SlayXc2 I mean, you have to get those breaks first, otherwise it's a dead run. And now you can just tank isaac by simply walking against him the whole fight. Literally
At least you put Aries in the honorable mentions! It's kinda my fave item in the game, as getting it means I can just run into anything that doesn't explode or shoot tears on death and that kinda stuff. And even if you don't kill the enemy, it gives you invincibility, so you can run into bosses and deal damage that way. Definitely how it should've been since the beginning since that's the main point of the item but before Repentance you would get hurt if you ran into almost every enemy with Aries xD
0:55 The hemolacria bomb has a unique sprite, and even the little bombs have their own cool sound, is there even a limit to how much content repentance has?
@@LeleSHHHHHH Because they "nerfed" blue health and buffed red health (it's more difficult to find blue hearts and easier to find red ones). This way you can have more red health
I didn’t know about the white pony, so when I saw the two room charge I said, out loud, “Holy shit” And then I saw how many beams they were and how you could actually aim them and said “HOLY SHIT”
The white pony buff feels excessive, i guess is ok because you don't find it that frequently, but it could keep being a 6 room charge, and still would be pretty good.
It being really good, with 2 charges is completely fine tbh. Think about it, its an extremely rare item. It can ONLY be obtained in ONE floor in the entire game (Womb/Utero/ScarredW 1), and that is if you're lucky enough to not get Death instead of Conquest.
I don't really get why Soul Converter needed a buff. It was always a pretty good item, albeit a situational one. The main reason people didn't use it much was because soul hearts were generally better due to devil deal chances and boss trap rooms, but now red heart containers are generally better and should be worth paying 2 soul hearts for. Granted, it is far from the most broken thing in Repentance, but I still don't get why the devs felt it was necessary.
Yo, got an interesting game break. Using “The Chariot” card while in the ending frames of suplex, you become invulnerable and immobile. This effect persists until the room is reloaded.
Glyph is so good to abuse for trinkets, when it came to unlocking the lost on a fresh repentance file, I just never held a trinket and got a trinket drop every single room until the poster dropped
Fun note! Book of Virtues+Meat Cleaver splits all your wisps into 2 smaller wisps. Sure they deal less damage, but having 5 wisps turn into 10 is pretty hard to argue with, if you ask me!
Kinda late to this but I just beat mother for the first time. It was so broken because I have haemolacria and tech x and that item that makes your attack speed go fast if you shot in one directiin
My favorite changes in this list were the D Infinity (and beyond), Holy Water and *Haemolacria* . I never picked up the D Infinity out of fear I could trigger a dice that would ruin my run by killing my stats, undoing my synergies, or potentially giving me Missingno. The new change singlehandedly redeemed it to me. Holy Water is self-explanatory. It's a very good item for crowd control now, and it can singlehandedly decimate some bosses. Finally, Haemolacria has always been a favorite of mine to pick because even if it was uinderwhelming at first, it bowled out of control with some damage + tears. Seeing you no longer need huge damage to make Haemolacria work, however, brings a huge smile to my face - hopefully people start to respect it as they should!
finally ma boi holy water got the love it deserves, even with the damage thing i've always picked it up and it helped me in the hardest times.. good to see it more than viable now also white pony is amazing i like the new change
They buffed Haemolacria? Really? Don't get me wrong, just on it's own it was quite tough, but in combination with other things it's one of those items that can just break a slow paced run. 😅
Probably someone already saw it and im not sure if this was in AB+ But "Holy Water+BBF" no only make the puddle bigger but also add a etenal-like friendly flame at the center of the puddle affecting flying enemies too
So if you use the d5 charge on d infinity you have the first charge on all D's set to one, you can use D6 one time with 6 charges and later only 2(1 for d5 and the otger switching)
I am new to your channel but love your content. I have played 740h+ of Isaac and mostly agree with you. I'm still sad Gupy got nerfed besides it's super hard to get now?
I kinda understand why they wanted to nerf, the transformation was just waaaaay better than all the others. Bute the thing is.....it still is xD So It didn't change that fact at all and the nerf was kinda pointles in the end ^^'
@@SlayXc2 rather than nerfing OP items, I think it would've been better to boost some other items that are basically useless xD but I do agree! It's op. It's very hard to get now tho haha
It was probably a D tier before, E tier would be an item that's virtually useless and F tier would be straight up run ruining Holy water actually wasn't completely garbage before even though it was bad, kinds like a better lemon mishap
I'm genuinely curious to hear how prop to she got better, the damage stat doesn't go as high meaning that flies and spiders don't do that much damage and I hear that the tear damage scales with size more heavily.
It is more of a rework than strictly a buff, which is the reason why it is only honorable mention for me. But it deals 300% damage at point blank now instead of 200%. But it missed out on synergies that care about your damage stat, like you already said.
Yeah I'm not denying that ^^ It's just that Haemolacria and Tech 2 made the cut for me because so many ppl always skipped them. It was about time that they finally got a buff.
I got really confused because IsaacGuru posted a similar vid but with different opinions and I hadn't realized who sent which one. Thought my mind was playing tricks on me
Yay, Lucky Foot is finally how it was always supposed to be, and it only took 8 years! I distinctly remember the disappointment I felt when I unlocked Cain just after Rebirth released, had a great early run, got Mom's bag of pills, excited to use them all, just to be hit with the TEARS DOWN on my first pill.
I feel like D infinity got nerfed! In AB+ you could spam it faster than D4 or D100 if you got lucky and wait until you get a busted build while keeping you alive with copius amounts of red health, now that the D4 effect is no longer a won run, the new changes make it just a better D6
after coming back to the game ur 10 biggest nerf/buff videos helped a lot to get a overview about the situation. i watched these videos then watched ur new items in repentance vid and i am like wtf why even nerf things like 1 + 1 (game breaker), if u add something like echo chamber (also game breaker). anyway nice vids.
If you think isaac's heart should be on this list, i dont think so, the change buffed it but also nerfed it, and its really hard to decide if isaac's heart was buffed overall or nerfed overall, if you like doing game breaks isaac's heart got a nerf, if you like playing the game without game breaks isaac's heart got a buff, also here are all the upsides and downsides of the isaac's heart change Upsides -The heart is smaller now -The heart can now do an attack that launches some tears and pushes away enemies -The player's body now does damage to enemies -The enemies target the player instead of the heart Downsides -Self Sacrifice rooms no longer have spikes -blood donation machines arent free now -Some items that drain your health arent free now, for example: IV Bag, yeah thats really the only one i could come up with
It's no longer its minmax option self, now it's more of a small scale combat gimmick. But it's so fucking bad at actually trying to hide behind where you're shooting. It's to the side ffs
@@jonathansoles8926 hard to tell. Could have been an unintended side effect of the serpent's kiss creation, but I actually don't think it is because serpent's kiss still has the black heart generation on the contact poison.
It's a shame repentance isn't on switch yet, but I'm glad I watched this cos otherwise I never would have picked these up, when it does eventually come out
I kind of think glass cannon is often worse to pick up than it was before, not to use of course, but if I accidentally pick it up due to curse of the blind I'm far more annoyed than I was before because I can't willingly avoid the downside, before you could just not use it but now you HAVE to get rid of it lest you take 2.5 hearts of damage on hit. Horrible.
Lucky Foot used to be way too strong with its other ability. 66% of winning on slot machines and 0% of text in fortune machines. I'm glad that isn't back
I started playing isaac in repentance. Didn't know that some of those items were so so bad back in those days. Glass cannon was completely useless to regular characters looks like.
I don't understand Proptosis as Honorable mention. It's rework makes you want to stay as close as possible for max damage and while it is more, the Flat x2 Damage that it geanted is what made that items amazing. It's technically better now but I see the rework more like a nerf than a good buff.
That's why it is only honorable mention. It is highly debatable if the rework is a buff or a nerf it really depends on the situation. For me it is a buff in a sense that it does what it is supposed to do 50% better than before (which is huge). But yeah I totally agree that the removed mutliplier is sad but I also understand why they did it. It's the same reason why they nerfed the interactions with the 40 flat damage of Ipecac.
