Paintings should be evaluated according to it's own merit; but often it's seen that some famous people do some silly work it's hailed as a great painting...
Raja ravi varma is the maharaja of tirvancore he sacrificed his life for paintings .he is an artist there is no questen of either his name is ram or raja. ifnot we must think somebody might have given the title as raja why this bledy news arrised .please tell what thing we are expecting by this name research- by such inventions entire picture becomes bad and we becomes useless persons infront of our comming genarations - so donot give such openions.thankyou for your research & invention. !

हे भगवान...ये सब टॉप 10 हैं? मैंने आजतक जितनी पेंटिंग देखीं हैं उसमें जो पेंटिंग समझ में नहीं आती वही सबसे बेहतरीन मानी गयी हैं। लेकिन कलाकारों का आदर सम्मान करना चाहिए जो की हमारे यहाँ पुरखों से चला आ रहा है।

You missed some other Avanindranath Tagore's iconic works like the death of shah jahan, abhisarika and at least one painting of Ramkinkar Beiz should be included.

I could not enjoy anything other than Ravi Varma 's work here. The criterion for being the 'famous' is the auction price in most of these. Is the yardstick right ? To my teained eye which has seen temple arts, and even the Pooja photos in the last five decades ( sculptures and paintings) which are some of the most refined, expressive , beautiful and timeless works, these modern works look silly and amateurish at the best. The Bindu , for example, is a modification of the srichakra but without the esoteric understanding . These will further strengthen the averse feeling of Indians towards the so called modern art.
