I just thought of something better for the Mesmer. What if they can shift the Aetheric balance of their target to both apply dots but also apply debuffs on enemies or buffs on allies? Make it a range support. Dots are hard to balance due to scaling, but having one job with specific dots would be easier than 4-5. Oh crap I just thought you could then have a dynamic element of "stance" change as well.

I think the Chemist having some spamable baseline potions for typical abilities, and then using something like the ninja mudra to quickly mix different elements could be a lot of fun. Maybe rather than just memorizing patterns like a ninja, you can add in different effects. Maybe you'd have the choice between making it an AoE, making it a more powerful single target, or making it a delayed effect depending on which of three buttons you press. I think the obvious choice for Chemist would be a healer, but I also think making it a ranged physical bomber style job could be good. Could offer a lot of buff support, and maybe have some off healing like a red mage.

Mystic Knight/Rune Knight/Rune Fencer was originally a job in FF5. It was super cool. It could charge it's sword with a magic spell, so every melee attack was augmented by that magic. I could see them adding this to FF14 as almost like... a melee version of a SMN (Cycling through augment magic), with the burst window of a RDM (Augmenting their weapon with Flare/Holy, instead of just Fire/Lightning/Blizzard)
@BleydTorvall
@BleydTorvall 2 года назад
That's been my most desired job addition since StB. I actually thought of the idea of having elemental attacks as the base weaponskills with the ability to chain appropriate ones together to create skillchains like in FFXI, with a higher level ability to perform a magic burst on the created skillchain. Basically, instead of a combo action damage increase like other jobs do, a skillchain deals additional damage when you chain the right weaponskills together, and instead of chaining a 3rd weaponskill for even more damage, you perform a magic burst. You effectively still have a 1-2-3 combo, but it works a bit differently, and you rotate which skills you use for the first two slots.

I'd love to see mystic knight as well! There's this trend with melee DPS (In Jocat's loving words: "There are 5, and each one is a different flavor of anime and edge") and I think that mystic knight could really stand out from that crowd and give us something that's a little less self-serious. Every other role in FF15 has a nice balance of flavors to choose from, I'd like to see melee get the same treatment.

Beastmaster with either a whip or 1h axe and shield with a pet (can also use crafted items to call forth specific pets to battle kinda like choco greens, this will also give crafters something to make that'll stimulate the consumables market a bit more outside of what we currently have). Have them half need to go out to tame wild pets to add to their stable and half have access to summonable pets via consumables (kinda like jug pets from FFXI), improve the AI like your choco so it can basically be in specific modes, and have specials you can have it do on a reasonable cooldown. Go out and fight strong mobs solo! (or team up and really take down something like Behemoth). Beastmaster really should be another one of them limited jobs that's OP'd because of the nature of their abilities and selection of beasts they have to choose form in battle. That and we'd finally get to have crab battles!

Time mage as DPS would be cool though, in my thinking it should be the caster DoT DPS job since SMN lost that and it would be thematic to the job since it would be damage over *time*. Its personal DPS buff oGCD would be something that makes total DoT damage instant, so that for a few times DoT's become burst damage. And come on, a job called TIM is hilarious lol.

@@the0s0ph1st I've been a time mage wanter forever; played astro for a while but it didn't satisfy. Not back when it had time dilation and celestial was a buff extension, and DEFINITELY not now when it doesn't have those anymore. It really should be based on DoT. But I think it should have something similar to heavensward dragoon, where you expended some of the blood of the dragon gauge to use geirskogul, but you didn't want to overuse it or you would lose the buff. Instead, you would do that same management with a DoT, having some abilities that expend some of the duration for bigger bursts of damage, and others that increase the duration and increase the potency. And of course, we really need something to fill the void left by changing summoner away from DoTs, I think time mage is perfect for that. My one requirement for it is to be able to give Haste to someone else and it really feel like it matters. Something like Machinist's old rapid-fire ability, that just sets their GCD to 1.5s for three skills or something like that. We're also really due for a caster next expansion, that is the role that it's been the longest since they released one, and it has three, just like ranged with the least number available. Before anyone replies, no, blue mage is not a real job in XIV.

I can imagine Blitzballer's style will play out like Monk and Dancer. Even if it's not going to be called Blitzballer, I would like to see an athlete job that utilizes a ball and have each attack be based on different types of sport like volleyball and tennis. In addition, having a ball as a weapon might be the most simple weapon to design for the developers and opens up for a lot of sphere-like object that is designed for the weapon. Imagine seeing a small planet or star being thrown or kicked in one of the attacks.

I imagined a "Hype" like mechanic where you use specific skills and/or abilities to increase your hype gauge and increase your movement speed slightly and reduce attack delay and increase skill speed by 20%, turning it into the Monk of ranged DPS in terms of speed. I had a different thought with regards to a Rune Knight job. My idea is that the Rune Knight is a tank who has an ability similar to Runic, which is an ability that Celes has in FFVI. In that game, when she uses Runic, she will absorb the next magic spell cast by anyone in the battle and regain MP. My idea for this in FFXIV is that Runic is a status that activates when you do your basic combo (similar to Gunbreaker's mitigation that appears on their 2nd combo ability) and will result in you gaining Job Gauge meter when the enemy auto-attacks you (or you can have a way to throw it up on the main tank if you're off-tanking). You then use the job gauge meter to access magical abilities based on the six elements. I envision three of the elements being linked to defensive/mitigation based abilities (water, wind, earth) and the other three are used to deal damage (fire, thunder, ice). Maybe you have to use each element once in order to light up a series of runes on your job gauge, and then you can spend the runes for a big finisher. I also have thought a lot about weapons that can be used. One weapon we don't have in the game is a double-bladed sword. Zidane from Final Fantasy IX uses those, as does Serge from Chrono Cross. I think this would be a good weapon for a melee job, either DPS or tank.
@Timotheuster

I was thinking a melee spellcaster would be cool, seeing as the closest we have would only be a RDM, so the magic tank is really intriguing. I feel like there's a lot that could be explored in that idea.

I could totally see Songstress having a unique job gauge and ability effects where it works like Hunting Horn used to work in Monster Hunter (before Rise). Each ability having a specific "musical note" that it generates, and you can build up a "song" of 3-5 notes, then press a "performance" finisher button to sing that song and apply the effects based on what notes you lined up. Geomancer would be really cool, since the Astrologian job quests in Stormblood clearly made Geomancers out to be separate and distinct, yet linked and complementary to Astro. I could imagine them as more of a support-y magical dps job, kinda like how Bard is a more support-y ranged physical dps. A dedicated DoT job would be really nice, especially since they've been removing DoTs from a lot of the other jobs where they weren't really needed. The main comparison I can draw here is Affliction Warlock in WoW. (I know I keep making comparisons to WoW, but that's just because I grew up playing WoW and only switched to FFXIV early last year; it's amazing how much better FFXIV is and I feel bad for having been so blindly addicted to WoW only.) Beastmaster and Whips sounds really neat. Whips are among my top favorite fantasy weapons, up there with scythes and other weird weapons. Gambler is one of my favorite ones here. Fighting with dice, playing cards, and that kind of stuff is always cool. Marvel's Gambit and League of Legends' Twisted Fate are good examples of fighting gamblers to draw inspiration from. Tying the job quests into the Mandervilles is also a great idea, they're always fun to interact with, and being able to explore more of their and the Gold Saucer's lore would be great. Magic tank and Dodge tank are both ideas I'd love to see. I've always wished that WoW would add a dodge tank spec to Rogues, and a tank spec to Warlocks (which they sort of did in Mists of Pandarea, but then removed it entirely the next expansion), just to have some more variety than just "big person in big plate armor with two-handed sword and/or a shield is tank, nobody else." FFXIV managed to get a little away from that with Gunbreaker having only a one-handed weapon and no shield, but I'd like to see these options added as well, and you can _never_ go wrong adding more tank and healer jobs.

They could have the necromancer be a DoT damage job that "summons" undead that function like the Dark Knight's living shadow. Target an enemy, cast, zombie punches them for 20 seconds, then falls apart. My top pick for a new job would be Mage Knight/Mystic Knight (depending on the game version) that fought with a 1 handed sword that casts fire, lightning, ice, poison, silence, bio, etc onto their sword and then the spell activates when they hit something, using the magic to augment melee. The various elements would be great for damage over time effects, status effects, etc.
@Vacheldemedici
@Vacheldemedici 2 года назад
Well, Necromancer does not have to call physical zombies. There are phantasms, shades, even allied spirits that could come and aid. Instead of dealing with things that would be censored, we could go with more spectral and 'whole' creatures and spirits. Spectral Mage, Shademancer. Even going a step further, we could have the shadows summoned to do bidding...shadows of the enemy, turned against it...a kind of shadowmancer. One could step into one shadow and out another (going to an ally in a blink), dodge attacks by stepping into a shadow. Then of course all kinds of poltergeist stuff in the case of the Necromancer/Shademancer.

Mesmer is straight up the coolest class in any MMORPG so if FFXIV took the concept and did its own thing with it it would be hype af. Mesmer could be magical ranged but it could also be tank, using illusions to mitigate damage by forcing enemies to attack them by mistake.

But the illusionist/trickster/mentalist archetype is always my favorite, a lot of people like it and its always underserved in MMOs aside from Guild Wars. GW2 mesmers are frankly versatile enough to basically be almost anything depending on how you build them so they can totally be a largely dot based magical ranged or an illusions based magical tank. Dual wielding pistols - like the Admiral - can actually work because they are not machinists, they dont use the machinist guns and battery and turrets/automaton, they use muskets and can dual wield them which can make them the job gauge where they start with single muskets slowly building up momentum then ending with using dual pistols - desperado style.

The thing a lot of people ignore when having these conversations is that FFXIV is a game with a pretty rigid role system. There are little bits of overlap (e.g. RDM can be a healer in a pinch), but for the most part, the encounters are designed around relative levels of damage, reliable mitigation, etc. It's why things like a "dodge tank" or "gambler" wouldn't work in FFXIV. What if your dodge tank fails to dodge three crit hits in a row by the boss and gets turned into floor paste? What if your gambler gets a string of good luck procs and devastates the boss? Or, conversely, BAD luck and doesn't good procs at all? Likewise, while buffer/debuffer classes are really cool in games, in FFXIV, you can't have debuffer classes that do more than short term boss damage reduction (stuff like Addle and Feint that the Casters and Melee/Ranged already have) because of how encounters are designed. You can't have things like low or heavy bosses and so on, and they're immune to such attacks. So while debuffers sound fund, you won't get that as a Job. Now, you could get these things as Limited Jobs, like BLU (Blue Mage) is in the game, but I'm not sure they'll ever give us another one of those considering how many people complained ENDLESSLY about it when BLU was added. . That said, stuff like Chemist as a healer could work, and so on. So there are additions that can be made, but they'd have to be tailored to FFXIV's systems. In FF lore, Sages are advanced White/Black Mages with low physical ability (think a RDM without melee but more powerful spells), and they shoehorned it into FFXIV as a healer using AERODs. So there's that. :)

Watch the ShB opening trailer where you see Thancred "tanking" the fight with the winged lion thing and he's dodging all over. If you look at GNB's abilities, it kind of leans in that direction. I remember someone posting this idea on the last video, but a tank job that focuses on only using a great shield would be pretty cool, could be call like Tower Knight of Castle Knight and basically has an aesthetic like byregot where they build structures around them to fortify their defenses. My only concern is that they spread a lot of this concept with the paladin with their shield, invulnerability and lb, but hopefully there's a way to make this job feel more distinguished in its concept because it goes with the idea of a defensive weapon being used offensively as well.

A lot of these Ideas are actually very interesting and here is some of my takes and ideas on a few of them: 1. SONGSTRESS - Songstress would be really interesting because obviously your attacks would have singing like sound effects (Effectively giving WoL a voice) so that could be a bit awkward, because then you would also have to take into account, would the sounds be based off of your character voice? would it just be 1 for male and 1 for female? Would lala and hrothgar have different pitches? etc. - I also think it would be very interesting to have the class be focused more as a buffer/healer than anything else, So it's attacks don't do very much damage and solo gameplay isn't its strong suite but coop gameplay it really excels, where most of your abilities are single target stat buffing casts (i.e DMG% up, DET/CRIT/DH up, dodge up, regen, small mits {like 5% & Under}) and then you would also have several larger cooldown abilities for some AoE buffs that could do the same. while also still having a healer kit just with reduced abilities I think the biggest thing for this type of playstyle the class would create is a completely new and fresh take on the gameplay loop where instead of focusing on just doing as much DPS as possible to a thing until it dies, you are actively switching between party members giving them buffs that suit their class and those buffs would make up for your loss damage that you wouldn't be doing -LB3 could be a rallying cry that raises and heals party members while also giving them a scaling DMG buff that depends on how many dead party members were raised 2. CHEMIST - Chemist could actually work very well and fit into the world of FFXIV quite easily as a dPS, obviously the quest start would be in Thavnair at the Great Work and you would go from there - You would have your generic 1 2 3 single target abilities (most likely just standard potion throws) and then the AoE could be more of a spew of chemicals in front of you - Your advanced abilities could be much like the Ninja mudra where you have 3 buttons that you can input in different orders to achieve different abilities - LB3 could be a big like cannon/chemthrower where you shoot a big beam of chemicals in a line 3. MAGICAL TANK (or maybe RUNE KNIGHT/GUARDIAN) - Dont have too much to say about this one but just wanted to ponder on if this class is magic based would it's skills be castbars or instacast? and if it does have castbars would it still be able to optimally play it's roll as tank and still do mechanics? I could see maybe a bit of both, your main abilities would be castbars but you have some instacast abilities with lower damage. 4. GAMBLER (or maybe JOKER) - I love the idea for throwing cards as damage and there is so many ways you could creatively make abilities for this class, I definitely liked the "Royal Flush" name for an ability, possibly your lvl 90 ability that does high damage in a line with less damage to targets behind the first (similar to shadowbringer) -I think another cool ability would be one that would have an escalating/fixed chance over a period of time to do double damage on attacks (maybe called like "Favorable odds" or "Rigged Deck") - LB3 should definitely be called "Jackpot" You'd get a little animation above your head of a slot machine hitting 777 and you could throw your entire deck which encircles the target then all the cards fly into the target piercing and exploding after a short delay with a shower of coins 5. CORSAIR - Corsair as an evasion base tank would be super cool, but would be very interesting to implement as they would maybe have to build around the hit chance system and probably create a new stat just for that to allow the class to work - it could also come down to a point of would this class reliably work? Because if your primary form of tanking is not getting hit in the first place then how punishing would it be when you actually do get hit? what if you get really unlucky and get hit several attacks in a row? what if you get hit by a TB? im sure obviously you would still have some mit abilities but you wouldnt be able to have too much because a class that could just naturally dodge most attacks AND mit would be pretty broken thats all thxs for reading and lmk your thoughts or if you think im dumb idc :)

I thought about Corsair quite a bit myself.. but I think it would be best with a pistol and a saber. Basically a Redmage but in reverse. You're up front fighting in melee until you fill some kind of gage, and then you spend it all on powerful pistol shots after dashing out into ranged combat. The problem with Corsair is how to make them different from Machinist and Samurai.

2nd or 3rd gen SMN was basically a DoT machine after they took away summons with hp that could hold aggro. It was fun in its own way, but they changed it yet again since their efforts to thread the needle on making it viable in both raids and trials didn't really pan out. Apart from occasionally landing a particularly nasty spread of Bane, you didn't miss much.

You kinda have Bard but it just puts two DoTs now and reapplies them with Iron Jaws and not much else. Would be nice if it was granted a DoT spreader at least eg. maybe rework Shadowbite to be an AoE that spreads DoTs instead of a simple oGCD damage button. Granting something like a DoT speed buff while in Mage's Ballad would also be nice.

I think a duelist/musketeer class would be cool. It would obviously be a ranged DPS using hand cannons, the ones that limsa's pirates and Merlwyb, their admiral, uses. They would have to however, figure out how to make it distinct enough from machinist so the two don't feel the same, but I think overall it would be pretty bad ass.

Here are some ideas that I had that I posted elsewhere. Perhaps you would get a kick our of them. Elementalist (Tank) A support off tank helpful for fights where you only really need one main tank. Channeling the Elements is effectively stance dancing. Fire would increase damage but also increase the amount you take, effectively making you a dps class. Earth would be your tank stance. Water would make you a faux healer, and wind would make you off tank. The Elemental stances would then change what you offer to your party. Fire gives a damage buff to the team, earth reduces damage taken by physical attacks to the party, water increases healing efficacy, wind decreases damage from ranged and magical attacks. A good elementalist would know when to change for a a fight and be able to adapt on the fly for when things go wrong. Green Mage Supportive class who does damage, often untyped. Biggest draw for the class is how they debuff the enemy, increasing the damage received, buff their allies by increasing specific stats, and my favorite thing; extending buffs of allies. Can you imagine the convenience of having someone increase your Ley Lines or your Bard DoT's? Calculator/Arithmetician A hybrid class who can cast spells and heals with no cast time. The only drawback is knowing numerically where and how potent it will be. Perhaps your most potent attack spell can hit at a shorter distance from the boss, but it runs counter to your best heal which gets weaker the farther away you are from your low HP ally. Perhaps you can choose a math partner and your damage/heals are based around distance there. My goal would be to have something ridiculous like running around the battlefield setting points that somehow would also calculate into your efficacy.

I want to put my concepts for some of my favorite class ideas from this video. Chemist- I imagine them being a healer with a mix mechanic (like brought up in this video) where it has 2, maybe 3, buttons dedicated to it where you press them, then they swap to the next ingredient, then so it one make time. Example, Mix, first one decides heal/damage. Next, Single/area. Final, Initial/DoT. Then they can use the potion or, if Yoshi and team wants, they can have you "Stash" the potion for later so you can line up potion use for Burst combos, a heal back up, or just general DoT upkeep. *Limit Break: *Perfect Mix* Pulls out their flasks and starts to mix a lot of ingredients together. On finish, they raise the flask up and shatter it on the floor, releasing a fog like haze across the battle field as allies get rented. Necromancer- One I admit would be hard as I want to see it done, but I would like this to be the DoT focused job with like 3 DoTs and then skills that benefit from those DoTs. Those DoTs fill a gauge that let's temporary minions out and a job gauge would include tracking those minions. Maybe even SACRIFICE them for special moves and benefits to drive the theme home. *Limit Break: *Death Approaches* During the cast, the Necromacer starts to chant and float, showing small blue Flames that appear around them until they finish. On cast finish, the Flames launch out and form a circle, which then summons a giant skull to rise and take a bite In that circle. Blitzballer- I imagine a "Hype" mechanic that lowers the GCd and makes it feel like the Monk of ranged DPS. Along with an attack that could act similarly to Reaper's Enshroud (you press 1 and 2, alternating and have an AoE version) to set up for an Ace Shot (a reference to Jecht Shot) as a reward. *Limitbreak: *The Star Player* During cast, you see the Blitzballer throwing a lot of Blitzballs in the air. On finishing the cast, they begin to punch, kick, and headbutt the balls while doing tricks, launching them in a straight line and acting like bombs. Gambler- This one you can go crazy on, but one mechanic I'd like a Luck Gadge that is filled with some actions and used to use his more "risky" themed moves. For example, he rolls dice when he has Luck and it consumes some Luck to promise high rolls. As for Cards, they can be abilities with cooldowns and unique effects. Example: The King can be based on damage, The Queen can be based on mitigation, Jack be based on increasing your own Luck, and Joker can repeat the last card effect. *limit break: *CACPOT!* as said in the video. Maybe have a small animation during casting where the slot machine appears and they pull the lever and you see the 7 7 7 and then the machine grows big and a flood of Gil comes out in a line.

I like most of the suggestions. I haven't checked the comments to see if someone's already noted this, but one of the things that each candidate will need to do is to distinguish itself from the other jobs, as the devs do want to avoid too much overlap or shared flavor (regardless of how some healers and tanks tend to end up feeling a bit homogenous.) Songstress - for a combat job, if it fills a party buff roll, it will need to do something so it doesn't overlap with Bard. Based on the RP suggestions, you could have songstress combo off Bard songs so they work together rather than conflict. I think this also has an opportunity to take advantage of how musically-inclined the game is in general - the notes you need to hit could be based off the BGM combo'd with Bard modifications. Chemist - I want to see this. The hurdle with Mixology is that most suggestions end up looking a lot like Ninja mudra. Geomancer/Taoist - the biggest issue here is probably that geomancer is established as a sister school to Astrology in FF14, one that looks a lot like Conjury for White Mages. My personal hope for it is to give it similar treatment as Tactics by rewarding the player for strategically choosing which ground to stand on, but that could be a problem for Savage-level dance fights. Related, maybe there could be some play off Tactics' Oracle or Mediator jobs, or introduce Green Magic to 14. I'm surprised Time Mage didn't get more play - with AST having dropped most of it, it's got a chance. Necromancer - the pet issues were addressed in video. I don't see a problem from lore, they actually reference the possibility in certain places even in 14 Blitzball Player - this is probably the easiest job to justify, barring any issues coming up with ways to distinguish it from Dancer's thrown weapons. I could see them having the ball exist as a sort of pet entity so the player needs to move around the field to 'fetch' their ball and keep it going at the target. Mesmer - similar to the pet issues, the devs design doesn't work as well for DoTs so this is more on them to work that out. It's underutilized for sure. Magical Tank - this is another one with strong possibility. Functionally it could work like any other tank, just using classic elements rather than dark or holy ones. I like the elemental shields idea, and the weapon attacks would probably be a similar one. There is a history of 'knight' type jobs that enhance their weapon with Fire/Thunder/Blizzard to do elemental melee attacks. Beastmaster - i've heard this has been given some looks as a limited job in the vein of blue mage. Being a pet job will give it the same problems to overcome as necromancer or old summoner. The whip mechanics could be interesting though, as a medium-ranged melee job, one that falls in between the range of normal melee and actual ranged jobs. Gambler - the main overlap to watch out for is the AST cards, but several problem points have already been removed from AST by now. The slots idea has some history in other FF games. It doesn't have to be an actual machine so much as a 'luck gauge' that occasionally gives you buffs or other bonuses randomly. See Crisis Core, which I think also corrected itself if you kept having bad 'rolls'. Corsair - the main comment I have for this is that it may be hard for devs to balance their fights for an evasion tank. On one hand, taking 0 damage from big attacks would make them very strong compared to other tanks, but then you have the problem of their armor on normal attacks - it may be difficult for healers if they can't predict when the tank fails to dodge a few times in a row and just falls over. It's doable, but may require devs to rethink how they design tank damage in fights going forward. EDIT: I think they can borrow the WoW Brewmaster mechanic to delay damage taken via a self-inflicted dot. They can still benefit from the random dodges but smooth out the damage taken so healers can respond.
@BenSalernoMedia
@BenSalernoMedia 2 года назад
Thematic overlaps in addition to mechanical overlaps makes it even harder for me to imagine some of these. Necromancer being distinct from Reaper muddles the idea of an occult class, for example; it might be easier to just expand Reaper to have some necromancy abilities. Otherwise, you've got an occult mage on one side, an occult tank on the other, and an occult melee class in the middle wondering why they exist.

I think that something similar to Qitian Dasheng the last boss in the Swallow's Compass dungeon would be really cool as a tank. An Eastern style monk that uses a staff in combination with elemental attacks for both offense and defense. I'm thinking it would have defensive abilities like "Become Mist" where your character model becomes semi-translucent and slightly grey to simulate the mist. Another might be "Become Earth" where you rip rocks from the ground and use it like a carapace around your character model. It's movement ability instead of just a normal jump or charge it would have "Become Lightning" where it looks like your character model becomes a lightning bolt when you charge at the target.

Hear me out, a melee healer, some kind of magitech Plague Doctor who has aoe bursts of low potency healing through a normal 1,2,3 melee rotation. Flank positional on the third gcd. It can have a mini burst window like GNB every 30 seconds, unlocking a separate 1,2,3 (no ogcds) that farms healing gauge on each gcd and applies an aoe regen on the third hit. 2 job gauges, the healing gauge is normally farmed by landing positionals, while the other gauge is increased by using the healing gauge consuming abilities and functions as the burst, 50 gauge to activate a burst mode, 100 max. Plenty of healing ogcds, a few of which can be low cooldown and with 2 charges, which grant a stack of True North on use. It can have a kind of link, similar to Sage, which allows the ally to heal every time they use a gcd, as well as giving gauge while you are in your burst mode. Its DR cooldown would grant a small amount of healing gauge for every ally that uses a gcd (once per ally), essentially guaranteeing that any raid wide can be followed up with aoe healing using the gauge. The dps gauge can also be consumed on a dps neutral ranged attack. As a healing job with 2 gauges and positionals to deal with, its mana management should be barebones and simple, only there to limit the ressurection potential. I'll be looking to expand and refine this idea so feedback is welcome lol

That last job idea reminds me of something I used to to in ESO. I had a Templar tank using an armor set called Hist Bark. It gave you a buff called major evasion which gave a 25% chance to dodge attacks entirely when blocking before they completely changed what the buff did. It was really good because if you had a lot of ads on you, you were bound to dodge very often. Effectively hardly ever taking any damage. And any attack that would would target you during the dodge animation would miss. So even if only one attack triggered the animation, the multiple attacks coming from multiple ads would still miss during the animation.

In the original Tactics Templar was a Bangaa exclusive job so in FF14 they could have the player learning the job from a Bangaa (the orange lizard-like people that Fran works with). If we're talking about new mechanical pieces to interact with other jobs, I'd go with Geomancer. Terraform small parts of the floor and chuck them at enemies for damage. If allies stand in them, they get damage reduction or boosts to specific elements(double up on dem ley lines, black mages). If the terraformed areas get hit by aoes, they get STRONGER, encouraging you to place your plots of land strategically. You can also use them as mini-fences to block knockback, or turrets with less important mob AI.

And when you cycle through enough stances, then you get to slap on Flare Stance and for a short time you get a burst window. The thing is, a lot of these are very close to classes that already exist conceptually. There's might not be a "songstress", but music and performing arts is already covered in Bard and Dancer. Necromancer would probably be a DPS that summons voidsent, which is too close to Reaper. Gambler would be cool, but it would need an identity outside of RNG to differentiate it from Astrologian. And a tank that solely uses magic would be awesome, I just have trouble thinking of an FF job that could fill it. (maybe Geomancer or Magic Knight?) Beastmaster has been in multiple FF games, including 11, the other FF MMO. Even if the only game where they used whips was FF5. Still, it would be interesting to see the devs try to work it in. Mesmer as a concept is a good idea (it's sort of like a pre-rework summoner), but I for the life of me can't think of a FF job that fits it. Maybe Time Mage? Corsair was a class back in FF11, where they were pirates that specialized in guns with random bullet effects. They would need something to differentiate them from Mechanists. I'd be all for it, but keep in mind that Corsair has an established identity. Alchemist would admitteldy fit in perfectly. They could even take inspiration from the Ninja's mutras with a synthesis system.

Chemist was a healer in FFTactics and all its other incarnations as far as I'm aware. Typical items are potions (HP restore), ethers (MP restore), elixirs (both), status effect curatives (like Antidote and Eye Drops), raise (Phoenix Down), and their reaction commands and support abilities were things like reduced durability damage of equipment/equipment couldn't be destroyed and Auto-Potion. They equipped daggers and, once you had access to them from Chapter 2 onward, Elemental Rifles/caster guns. Chemist as healer makes the most logical sense, and there really AREN'T that many healers in FF games since most rely so much on WHM. CHM should honestly have been the first healer introduced after WHM if we're being honest. SGE should have been a caster like RDM but with more caster focus and less melee focus; in typical FF games, Sages are advanced White/Black Mages but have poor physical stats (unlike RDM) and low growth abilities, making them a late game Job you train into once you have your characters built up from leveling other Jobs like WHM and BLM for boosted stats.

I've made a time mage concept for a healer focused on the idea of "set up" heal, where many skills would get stronger by setting up stacks on yourself and buffs on someone. So for example, when you would use a regen, you would get a stack that makes your next healing stronger, when you use a buff, the same. The gauge would be based of extending the duration of buffs, as well as copying buffs you gave to a single person and passing to others. Other minor stuff would be extending dots, as well as applying the full damage of dots as instan spells and refreshing the same.

I would love a necromancer, but people are just too focused on the idea of summoning pets. First let me say, the summons could work like the Summoner ones, combined with Enshroud from Reaper. A raidbuff, so to speak, where you summon the spirits of fallen heroes to empower your allies. Necromancy doesn't necessarily mean to summon undead, rotting corpses, though it is certainly one thing you can do with it (and in my opinion the coolest part about it), but it can be kept at a minimum to keep the fantasy of the good-two shoes hero of the source. We already have the reaper class which literally allows you to make a pact with a daemon from the 13th. I think Necromancy wouldn't be more or less morally evil. Reapers literally reap the souls of their victims to empower themselves. Necromancy is the craft of summoning the dead, the source of that power is irrelevant, it could be light or dark (first or 13th), second of all, evil necromancy is necromancy without consent, for lack of a better term. It is the violent revival of a horrific creature. "Good" necromancy, as stated in my example prior, could be the summoning of helpful souls willing to support the warrior of light. The Warrior of Light/Elidibus fight plus the dungeon prior to the fight is a good example of light fueled evil necromancy. Now obviously, necromancer could also use dots that are spreadable to keep the balance in there. Make them poisonous by nature/flavour and you got yourself a poison spreading necromancer that summons the willing dead.

Benefits to the party? *Omni-directional damage increase* (Front for the tanks [on or off tanks], flanks and rear for DPS) Gauge Types: Buildup (from 1 to 100) >Gauge 1: Basic combos build up the first gauge - *Weaker, but faster build-up* (upon reaching 100% Player will strike at all four directional points and return to original starting position. Syncs with gaining a rune for each point struck.) >> Best Offensive Property Build: Directional hit Rate >Gauge 2: Party-wide - After placing the omni-directional buff on enemy or boss, all attacks build up the gauge. *Slower, but stronger and doesn't deplete after a battle* (Upon reaching 100% Player will unleash a single attack that will 100% crit, resetting the omni-directional party buff.) >> Best Offensive Property Build: Critical Hit >Gauge 3: Rune usage - rune attacks do more damage until the depletion of the Rune Gauge. *Must be at 100% percent for it to work.* >> Best Offensive Property Build: Determination And that's my idea for a Rune Fencer. Rather than going with the magical angle, I decided to focus on the physical aspect instead, having it be a Party wide damage increase that focus on the four positions of the enemy/ boss. What bare your thoughts and opinions on this class? too weak? too strong? consistent? not consistent enough? I'd like your feedback and opinions.

I've been thinking about this topic since your video about it! I came up with some new ones and my tiny mind naturally went bonkers with it, so here is the fun job that could be had LOL Zombie ~ Melee dps! It would be a hilarious addition to the Hildy quests. Unlockable. If you die in a raid, you get to fight for 20 seconds as a zombie. If there is ever a fun Hildy dungeon? I could totally see this being a thing! I just keep seeing a bunch of undead toons piling onto Ifrit and biting his ankles or something :D

>Songstress We already have bard. >Geomancer We already have astrologian and white mage. >Necromancer The thaumaturge quests in 1.0 literally involved hunting down and bringing to justice a necromancer. For a voidsent-based job, we already have reaper. >Blitzball player Yoshi-P already said no blitzball. >Rune knight It sounds like they meant a job that is both a tank role and a Disciple of Magic. You could draw inspiration from FINAL FANTASY XI. >Whip wielder This was my idea for the rune knight. My concept was a DEX-based melee DPS using scouting gear that had six single-target weaponskills that all formed combos with one another, so it was less 1-2-3 and more "I need these three runes" so you could then spend the runes you harbor from the weaponskills on party buffs or bigger attacks. >Gambler See also Tifa's limit break or Wakka's overdrive. Also, we already know House Manderville's origins.

Personally I have a few jobs that would be interesting see in FF XIV. Rune knight, more like physical dps with mixed gauge like rdm has, you need to mix them perhaps to unleash some big damage combo in the end. Also one that would be interesting if anything else then as limited job. Mime. You can mime other jobs you choose in the party, not to perfectly but to create kind of a hybrid job that can do them all or something like that. Also beastmaster would be nice to see too.

best example of a gambler job for me is Lady Luck dress sphere from FFX-2 And a great example of a corsair job for me would be - if anyone remembers an old gem of an MMO named "Granado Espada", and in this game your characters had fighting styles, in which depending on what weapons you equipped, they essentially functioned as sub-classes, and one such style was the "Heaven or Hell" style for the Fighter character(the defacto tank character), utilising a sword/sabre in one hand and a pistol in the other. It was a fighting style with insanely high speed and high critical rate, which would fit extremely well with the whole dodge tanking idea IMHO.

Gambler would be awesome ! In terms of serious lore i imagine pretty well a type of sorcerer whose magic is based on the essence of luck with a capital L. And if you think like that, the RNG dimension normally associated with these types of archetype can be really moderate, with a hero litteraly blessed with a nearly absolute luck, or able to manipulate it at his will. The visuals could be dope aswell with flashy magical coins, dices, roulettes, cards with kings, queens, joker and so on ! In terms of gameplay, burst windows of Absolute Luck could be awesome with guaranteed procs on every actions and fast paced combos. Anyway i stop here but i will be thrilled to get a job like that !

This is my idea for a Job. Prince/King or Royal (for inclusion) (based of FF15). It’s a physical range that uses the kings weapons to attack from range in the form of Armiger (uses MP) - similar to the final fight against Ardyn vs Noctis. It can also use magic damage in the form of bombs (ice, fire, electricity). LB uses the ring of Lucii. Of course noctis can use his teleport abilities to charge the enemy of get away and restore MP. Abilities that don’t use MP can be magic bombs (But have cooldown); TP (maybe very low MP); and combos. TP away restores MP; TP dash buffs or debuff; raidbuff can be Ignis inspiration or something like huddle up. Leveling you start with the sword of the father and as you level up you learn new King weapons or by doing job quests to hunt them all until you’re lvl 90. This job I would call it the ninja of range class.

Mesmer, especially in Guild Wars 1, is so much more than a DoT class. It does as lot of "if-than" buffs and debuffs, that force you to predict what will happen or the effect will be wasted. Here's a few: Empathy Hex Spell. (5...13...15 seconds.) Target foe's attacks deal 1...12...15 less damage, and that foe takes 10...46...55 damage with each attack. Fragility Hex Spell. Also hexes foes adjacent to target (8...18...20 seconds). These foes take 5...17...20 damage each time they gain or lose a condition. Power Lock Spell. Interrupts a spell or chant. Interruption effect: interrupted spell or chant is disabled for +5...11...13 seconds. Wastrel's Worry Hex Spell. (3 seconds). End effect: causes 20...84...100 damage to target and adjacent foes. No effect and ends early if target foe uses a skill.

For the Blitzball class, I'd like to see interactions with other party members if they are also a Blitzball class. For example, moves that combo off monsters that pass to the next Blitzball player. They would be given options with what to do next with the ball (elemental shots, status effect shots, "Jecht" shot.. ) and this can be a combo passed between Blitzball players for a set number of combo hits. If for PVP, opposing Blitzball players can intercept blitzballs from the opposing team and use it for their own combos.

What about a 'Mirror Knight' tank, able to deflect/turn the enemy attack back against it? This could go along with the magic-only style tank if one wanted, or just the basic sword and shield. They could also have such things as blinding abilities. Disorienting abilities. Maybe even having multiple copies of themselves (akin to a house of mirrors) at extreme levels, causing some difficulty of the mobs to actually hit the tank. Just some ideas. I loved this segment. Thanks Quazil!

The dice ability for the gambler could be called "Loaded Dice" implying that the dice are weighted to always land on the best roll to get around the RnG of rolling dice, also wasn't Ace in Type-0 a card based character? still think this would be cool, also i like the idea of the Chemist, my thoughts on it was the are mostly an aoe ability class and you can overlap your aoes to get different effects, and even make a super healing spell that would heal everything inside that aoe for a ridiculous amount of hp even your enemies as a kind of punishable saving throw ability. something alon the lines of big heal hits everything in the area for 8K health including the boss, yeah it saves your team but also gives the boss more time to hit the enrage timer.

To go off the Rune Knight tank. Was thinking of a magic based, "dual wielding" tank using the Mystic Knight background. Kind of like Paladin, but with an off hand, more defense oriented weapon like a jitte. Then enhancing their defense or offense by imbuing each weapon with different spells/element types: Fire leaves a dot, Break or Earth enhances physical defense, etc. And then each time you apply a new spell, the old spell will go into your offhand and then that can even be part of the whole Job. As you would have to balance your offense oriented spells on your main hand and defense ones on your offhand? Definitely would love to see the Mystic Knight in some form or fashion doe.

Chemist/Apothecary is something that the devs have been teasing for a looooong time, with the latest tease being in one of the rank ups for the custom deliveries for Ameliance, so I feel like it's something that might happen. This is just one of many teases, one of the more major teases being is the minor part in ShB MSQ involving Riqi-Tio deciding what type of adventurer she wants to become. For anyone that wonders, Ameliance specifically denotes that you are able to manipulate aether ("Magical arts require an appropriate focus through which to hone one's skill") through "Magical concoctions" as a focus while listing off other foci (Planisphere, Cane, Nouliths)

My take on the suggestions (I'll even put the game these ideas came from next to them): 1) Songstress (FFX-2) - Decent idea, potential synergy with bard, though it probably isn't going to happen. A little too much overlap and the team has really been moving away from inter-job synergy. 2) Chemist (FFV, referenced in FFXIV) - Possible, it has been mentioned in the game before, and the base mechanics are similar to ninja. Name would have to be changed to avoid confusion with alchemist. 3) Geomancer/Taoist (FFIII) - I like this idea in theory. Again it has been mentioned in the game (geomancer), though specific elemental negation rarely works well, it tends to be either completely OP or useless. I do like the idea of maintaining balance though, very similar to Red Mage. 4) Necromancer (FFV) - This will almost certainly never EVER be a job. Many cultures and religions have strict rules regarding the treatment of the dead, not just China. Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Shinto, as well as most SEA countries (Tonga/Torres Strait Islanders) have rules regarding the dead, and disturbing the dead is seen as one of the most vile acts one can perform. Additionally, summoning void beings freely creates....problems in lore. We already have a group that does that (Lambs of Dalamud), and even then it is a little close to Reaper. I know the community wants it, but there is almost no way that this is going to happen. 5) Blitzballer (FFX) - I hope not. While you could do things that reference real life sports, mechanically it would likely play like ranged monk, where you are combo-ing into other abilities. Mostly I just think the aesthetic is the biggest issue. Even in FFX, Wakka's attack is goofy and laughable. 6) Mesmer(iser) (Old FFXIV) - Basically just the old Summoner without a pet. Not much to talk about here. Dots can be fun, but multi-doting has issues (Bard pre-endwalker), and uses multiple dots to create a stronger effect is literally the old Summoner. So it's doable, though they will likely need something else since pre-heavensward summoner had similar issues. 7) Magical Tank - Very vague. Tank damage will be physical regardless of "Magical" components. I don't agree with it, but the team likes homogeny as it makes it far easier to design around. Certain fights like Leviathan would cause extreme issues if you had two magical tanks since the tail reflects magic damage, while one of the bosses in void ark would be completely immune to their damage. Outside of that, it seems like the proposed "tank" is just paladin with gunbreakers aurora. Needs more work. 8) Beastmaster (FFV, popularised in FFXI)- Very possible, though I would tweak it. Instead of "Beast" it would be more of a Spiritmaster, where your attacks summon spirits that perform their action before vanishing out (Nightwolf from MK, Thunder from Killer Instinct, and even Summoner). This would also do a lot to reduce the issues surrounding using whips to get animals to do what you want. This is a PG game, and using whips to get animals to attack skirts this line. 9) Gambler (FFVI) - Way too many problems with this one. RNG makes for a terrible mechanic to both balance around and to play with, but taking away the RNG aspect basically means that you are no longer a gambler. Additionally, gambling in video games causes issues with several countries (including Japan, which is very complicated with many loopholes) so it seems like a lot of risk for little reward. Gambler isn't a good gamble. 10) Corsair (FFXI) - The only way that this would work is if it was exactly like it was in FFXI, otherwise the people who suggest it would complain. It would have to be a ranged physical role (ranged tank isn't going to happen or it would have a huge advantage on the other tanks), so then it competes with Machinist for the title of Gun-DPS (Corsair with no gun with cause people to lose their minds). Some of these have potentials, but unfortunately most of these are just nostalgia, and going forward FFXIV needs to walk its own path. Nostalgia can only go so far, and by relying too much on the past, it can really limit the creativity of the developers as they will only know how to implement nostalgia. FFXIV for me shines best when it is original and unique.

honestly for beastmaster I think for a way they could get around pet ai is just having the rotation when you click your buttons different beasts are summoned do an attack or two and leave. It wouldnt let you do the whole taming different creatures and stuff people want but it would get the job in the game and you could alternate in some attacks where like maybe the basic rotation is hitting things with the whip and the main burst window is like summoning all kinds of birds, tigers, lions, bears, and the like just like a bunch of creatures to do an attack or two before doing the next beastie. Ok that actualyl sounds pretty baller after typing it out that sounds like a lot of fun to play.

I think as a magic tank, the concept of a "mage fist" could work pretty well. The weapons could be something along the lines of "focus bracers", bracers charged with magical energy allowing the wielder to deflect incoming blows with a wall of magic. The animations could even be an exaggerated rope-a-dope boxing style with the arms in close to the body with aether-charged planted-feet punches mixed in with spell-casts creating magical runes around the player character. The over-all aesthetic could be a robed sorcerer with a pair of wrist-mounted magical foci.

The Gambler idea actually reminds me of an idea for the Trickster not too long ago. It would be our 4th Ranged Physical DPS and would use cards. Trickster was actually a class in Final Fantasy Tactics 2 that I absolutely loved. But the main mechanic would be using the faces of each card, which would be elementally based (Spades are Lightning, Clubs are Aero, Diamond is Ice, and Hearts are Fire). You would have a standard 1-2-3 combo, but with an ability on a oGCD you can draw a card that is elementally based and apply it to your standard ability, you can also have something like Astro's Redraw so that you can pull the element you want. So, Fire would apply a burn DoT, Lightning can apply an AoE DoT (I'll explain this later), Ice applies a heavy, and Aero can temporarily increase skill speed. However, on top of that, your elements would also combo with each other. So, if there is currently a Fire DoT on the Boss and you pull a Spade (lightning), you would essentially do what Thundercloud does and works in the opposite direction (Lightning + Fire) but would be weaker and be an AoE. Fire + Ice can cause high damage. Fire + Aero would cause a damage increase on the target (akin to Trick Attack). Lightning + Aero would give you a burst window akin to Machinist, but not as many buttons to press and does less damage. Etc. It would be a jack of all trades and master of none. It wouldn't excel in any one area, but it would pull from a bunch of different classes. I just really liked the idea of having a DPS that caused you to always be thinking about what you're doing and what you want to do next. Plus, I really liked the job in FFTA2 lol.

Puppetmaster/Puppeteer! (weapon Automator) range dps job, you send commands to the puppet, (basically the puppet is auto and doing its own thing, but every time you do a range combo(123) the puppet will do its own special ability, later on in ending levels, it will do 3 specials to gain a super special. puppet cannot overheat/stress itself out (repair) if puppet is overheated, it will do 10% dmg, but must cooldown for 10secs (lands on the floor) you have to recall the puppet and tinker with it and throw it back into the field. of course if resources are given, your puppet will look like a mannequin of any race (male/female) Juggler (Bags of tricks) Enfleebler and random buffer (when granted actions) DoT bursting and a lots of Ogcds. when bursting, you have the ability to buff 1 random dps for 10secs. Its just a random thought of FF-Tactics Advance juggler, but can't paralyze,slow,stop,ect. lol so make it a DPS/support.

So I don't know if this is just returning jobs, but I actually have a job idea for a new job that I think would be pretty cool and want to share. The class is called "Dynamo" and is a casting class whose gauge resource is dynamis! Given that right now that the WoL is possibly one of the most knowledgeable about it and how important it is to our powers and our story, I think it would be a great idea. We could possibly work with a few alchemists of Thavnair to make this class (so we can have some NPCs for the class story), and we help them make the first job stone. The story could be about us figuring out our powers as the first Dynamo, and the story could be our character sort of going over the events of ARR to EW. The weapon could be magical device that I would could call a Crucible, that serves dual-purpose as both a focus for our spells and a place for us to store our built-up dynamis. As for the combat parts of the job, I would say it would be Magical DPS (as aluded before). I'm unsure what exact sub-role it would fill in that category, but I know that perhaps you use the dynamis to power-up spells. Possibly by reducing their casttime, increasing their damage, and/or reducing their MP cost. Sorry for the ramble, just been sitting on this class idea since the end of the current expansion and really wanted to get the idea put into words and shared. 😅

Songtress - should be a Hybrid support and debuf mage. Chemist - Should have a single very simple attack combo, the rest of your skills will all be "ingredients" and a use skill. The ingredients that you can mix max of 3 in your job UI like the ninja but then with more options. Maybe if you have the item in your inventory the effect will be empowered. So potion = Throw potion to target. Potion in ventory = Throw stronger potion to target. Potion + potion = throw a even stronger ption to target. Potion + potion + potion = Party heal. Taoist - could be a really good limited job where you can change your elemental stance. Stone = tank. Fire = melee dps. wind = magic DPS. thunder = ranged dps & water = healer Blitzball - Wakka start out as a debuffing ranged character with stat elements. Mesmer - I love the illusions kinda gameplay in GW2. Playing with your opponents mind. Rune Knight - I would give them a very basic physical combo. And an ability to enhance these attacks with magic by putting a run on it. So rune for fire + attack will turn it into flame slash. Beast master - would be a limited job I think. I would love it though. Gambler - The astrology was kind of this but tuned down for a reason. So not sure about this one. I really like these kinda classes but for a MMO might be hard put in. Corsair - A melee class that can occasionally use his pistol would be kinda cool. My own 5 idea's > Martial Artist/boxing/staff job - A active dodge based tank where you have to actively counter your opponents attacks with dodge skills, which unable parry skills. This would be a very high skill ceiling class. > A gunner/pistoleer job - Thinking about Admiral Merlwyb but also the gunner class in FFX-2, maybe in combination with the blue mage of FFX-2 with special bullets as skills. The class would wield a single pistol till it goes into it's happy trigger form where you can shoot endlessly with 2 pistols. Maybe charge a special trigger happy bar that removes global cooldown for a limited time making it a high burst class. > An archer job - I am highly voting for separating the archer and the bard class. I just want to fire my bow without the bard aspect. > A whipblade class based on FF Type-O character Seven. A class that can switch movesets between a single one handed sword and a whip kind of game play. > Counter red mage job - The red mage uses magic to build a gauge to then go in for a melee combo, then get out again and repeat. It would be nice if we could get another job that does the exact opposite, this was my original rune knight job. A job that focuses on melee and occasionally use magic to empower it's attack.

I can see the Chemist working in a similar way to Samurai. Necromancer is already cannon in ff14, The heroe's gauntlet dungeon 2nd boss was a necro warrior of light that struggled with her place in the world. So more likely than you would think. When it comes to new classes though since it revolves around the weapon it will likely be one we don't currently have hand how they make sense with the concept of the skills of the potential job. Things like a whip, fan, hammer, a mask, a microphone, quickfire pistols, chimes, dolls, a club, a pendulum (like on a wire), or a giant shield (no sword) could work, just gotta wrap the job around it. For an evasion tank I think a nice idea would be one with a foot based weapon like a weaponized brace with a fighting style like sanji from one piece (give swords a break).

I think a cool concept would be to make a caster that's centered around Dynamis and harnesses the potential of emotions and focuses them into actuality using a crystal ball. Something that I think would be cool also is if it had a 1-2-3 rotation with 3 different finishers. The finishers could work like mnks chakras and grant different abilities depending on the combos u finished on and as a FF9 fan, I'd love for the bursty phase of the job to be called "Trance" and it changes the gameplay of the job a bit and bumps up the player's damage

Honestly I would love a Corsair job that takes a little bit of flavor from Gambler. Give it a Cutlass and Blunderbuss/Shotgun combo to keep things in melee range, and give it Gamble as an ability that is either triggered on combo finisher or gauge spender. Gamble could then give you one of three abilities that have different effects (DoT, Debuff, guaranteed crit maybe?). That or it could modify one of your major abilities to incentivize you to constantly switch up your rotation for optimal play. I’d also want it to be a scouting class to finally have a job that shares gear with Ninja

When it comes to classes, first and foremost I'd love a Beastmaster, something very similar to WoWs "Hunter" class, but with Whips and Bells (as mentioned in this video). Or even like a Onion Knight (duel wielding tank or a tanky DPS). But on that note, I also don't feel the game should be adding more and more more classes, but instead expand upon the classes we already have, essentially a 2nd tier of jobs. For instance PLD goes to "Holy Knight", SAM goes to "Ronin", BLM goes to "Wizard" or "Archmage", etc... I feel we could get more out by building up, instead of out. Also to expand and add more dynamics to the game, have more classes utilize the off-hand item (SAM utilizing wakazashi/tanto, WAR duel wield smaller axes, WHM going back to wands and shields, etc...)

I think it's interesting that a Corsair/Pirate could be a tank because whenever I see pirate duels in media it's always swords clashing and both sides avoiding each others hits perfectly. I think it's a cool power fantasy, that if you're a Corsair you can catch the raid bosses swords/weapons perfectly with your own; preventing it from hitting your allies. I can also imagine the LB3 as you summoning the sea, a giant wall of water to block damage. Like the Job gauge could be a balance style gauge too, if you stay perfectly centered you have permanent uptime on your jobs unique mitigation; parry/dodge/clash etc.
