this is my 10 most played gems take note that romhack means translated/life quality improvements hope you could play this too. Wild Guns Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (RomHack) Zombies Ate my Neighbors Live a Live (RomHack) SDF Macross (RomHack) Super Robot Wars Series (RomHack) Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen Sanrio Smash Ball Super Bomber Man Biker Mouse from Mars
Really??? Is this a joke video? So the “retro games” are Secret of Mana… DragonQuest… EarthBound… Final Fantasy… …alright I’m not watching anymore. Let me guess Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, and a bunch of other RPG games are the rest on here. Am I right? For fcks sake just title this video “RPG Games” instead.
I'd love to see more videos like this; getting into the hobby recently, I'm often at a complete loss for where to get started with a system I never played as a kid
Mega Man X is my all time favorite SNES title. I didn't have a whole lot of games for it back then as it was only at my dad's house. Secret of Evermore was pretty awesome too.
@@jasonhansen9 I would too! (Well, I don’t think I played Animaniacs so I don’t have any ground to stand on there) I think some games like Lion King or Super Star Wars (all of them) are pretty bad now though. Only after learning that they were so difficult because it was good for rental shops and after renting them a few times you may buy it just to try and beat it. Almost the OG form of Pay to Win.
Maybe it's niche, but I have to say, in the jp region set of games that never came outside of jp,there are some really, really, REALLY good games that are translated that I think even best most on this list. To a retro gamer, it is well worth getting into IMHO.
I need to make a list of those, this is the first video in a long series I'm planning to make. I want to cover multiple systems and different translations, ROM hacks, hidden gems all that. -Aish
I can’t recommend Final Fantasy VI enough, I loved playing it on my Odin, beware though, it has been re-released to the GBA and PSX but the SNES is actually considered the best version even though the PSX has updated graphics and cutscenes but it’s buggy and has different soundtrack that is subjectively inferior
Solid list. Personally I’d have included DKC and TMNT Turtles in Time over Mana and Dragons Quest - but just one man’s opinion. Hard to argue with most of these, particularly Zelda at #1.
Gekisou Sentai Car Rangers Zombies at my Neighbors Sim City U.N. Squadron Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Goemon in Japan and all its sequals were fan translated into English)
@retrohandhelds I can understand it not making the list. A lot of people hate the baby mario crying 😆 I grew up in a loud house, so it never bothered me
A bit of an off-topic question, but what handheld (preferably under $40) would you reccomend that can play up to Game Boy Advance? I care more about build quality and controls than power really. Your content really helps a lot.
I see you play with RGB30. my RGB30 is incoming. I thought many reviewers said that RGB30 has awkward screen factor to play SNES..?!? but I see you like it. is that because of controller orientation ? or better LCD screen ?
I still don't understand why people say that, there's a lot of games on the SNES and NES that look better in 8:7 because they were designed for that aspect ratio. If you notice on the bottom left I list the aspect ratio, 8:7 uses more of the square screen. -Aish
Have you played Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest? Imo it's by far the best game in DKC trilogy and is the tightest and most memorable platformer next to Super Mario World on the system. I think as a game as a whole I actually like DKC2 even more than Super Mario World. It can be a hard game though
Super Mario World would be my pick for number 1. I don't know why I've struggled in the past to get into the 2D Metroids, but it's on my list to revisit in the future.
It's a hard choice for me between super Metroid and a link to the past, Chrono trigger is also up there with those 2. I love super Mario world but it just doesn't reach the same high points for me as those 2 games. -Aish
Agree with this top10 all of my fav game in snes is in this video secret of mana ,ff6, chrono trigger, zelda, contra, super mario world ... I think the only missing in my list is DBZ 2 and 3 , rayearth ,sd slamdunk and yuyu hakusho and final , super double dragon
Got a Miyoo finally and it crashes every minute or so. Anyone experience that? I am still running stock os on the card it came with. Hoping a new card with onion fixesthis.
I will say, while Castlevania 4 isn't a "bad" game by any means.... Rondo of Blood for the TG16CD is considered to be the best classic Castlevania game.
Tbh, the only one I strongly desagree is the castlevania. The character feels SO slow and heavy that the gameplay is painful nowdays. Overall, great list. I would definetly include any of the bomberman games.
I can understand that it took me a while to warm up to it as a kid but I've really grown to appreciate that game. I haven't played a lot of Bomberman, I think I need to fix that. -Aish
heres 10 more just for funnsies. 10.Biomotor Unitron (neogeo pocket color) 9.Alleyway/Retroid ( Gameboy, give Retroid a go it good) 8.Diablo (PSX) 7.The Klonoa series (GBA Wonderswan and PSX) 6.KIRBY! (Nintendo duh) 5.Sonic Delta (rom hack) 4.Apotris (Tetris like homebrew game) 3. Advance Wars (GBA) 2. Donkey Kong 97 (Gameboy) 1. Hot Shots Golf 2 (psp)
I would say it's a very well rounded list considering the SNES had some of the best RPGs. The only game I could see an argument for is dragon quest 3, but I enjoyed it more than MegaMan so it made the list. Thanks for watching. -Aish
Look, i understand how important DQ3 for the franchise, but I would never recommend it In 2023. The game feels extremely shallow, it lacks a complex story and all your companions are just puppets you create yourself that have no dialogues. If you want to play a SNES game then Dragon Quest V is a much better pick, especially if you want something comparable to Chrono Trigger
See I actually enjoyed 3 more then 5. It's probably because I was replaying the first 3 games, and the way the games connect made it more memorable to me. Also I didn't really love V that much, I had a better time with 4. -Aish
Sorry, but I didn't enjoy this video, unless you change it to 10 must-play rpg games on snes (except Metroid, Marion and Contra). You didn't make much of an effort to bring varitey among the games. Come on!
The SNES has one of the best RPGs catalogs so of course there's going to be a few in there, but changing to 10 must play RPGs doesn't make any sense. It's 1 action rpg, 4 RPGs, 1 side scrolling platformer, 1 shooter, 1 side scroller, 1 Metroidvania and 1 action and venture game. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, but what games would you have put in there instead? -Aish
