Fun fact: Boohnanza started as a spoof on Catan, and is probably one of the most popular "family games" in germany, like catan.

I very much want board game club to have a game of Nothing Personal now, if only because I want Sully to wear a ring and be a mob boss.

We love negotiation integrated in something else, suchas area control. Games like TI4e or Oath are brilliant like that, and boil down to how you can play your mates rather than the actual board. Precious!

Catan finally made a list? Catan fans rejoice! I do think Catan is mostly okay, and the negotiation aspect certainly is enjoyable... as long as you have any cards to use for it, of course, with the robber being rolled every other turn and generally ruining everyone's day. I love several of the games here - and very interested in checking out Millions of Dollars - but kinda surprised to not see Cosmic Encounter. Perhaps because you have already talked about it a lot in other videos?

Hard to explain how much I am enjoying this series. I hope it goes on for years. I could really do without the background music though.

As someone who just played John Company yesterday and had an insane level of fun, I would highly encourage the "negotiation" kind of players to check it out.

Sidereal Confluence and Bohnanza are favorites! I also love Tiefe Taschen, a game where you're corrupt politicians trying to stay in power until the government goes bankrupt. It's been reprinted as Goodcritters, with a theme similar to Millions of Dollars.

I was really hoping that Sheriff of Nottingham would be on the list and I was not disappointed. This game is great.

I think Cosmic Encounter belongs in this list quite high.

Sadly my regular group is so fiercely against giving ANYONE the chance of getting ahead NO ONE WANTS TO OFFER DEALS. It's so frustrating because it turns what should be a fun game into territorial pissing contests. "I'll give you two blue for that one red". "DON'T DO IT! He'll score more points if you do, it's a con!" And so the games devolve into bitter stares across the board as people hoard resources they should be trading. That said, I love me some Archipelago. It's a beatiful game that demands trade amongst the players, otherwise the game will spank you all and everyone loses. "Did you have fun hoarding your fish?" asks the game. "Well tough luck sucka, cos you should have traded them to solve the crisis this round and now you've all lost cos the natives have burned down your community." Good job game, good job.

Sherrif is the game that started my boardgame obsession and growing collection

I don't think you can trade out of the fields in Bohnanza. Just hand and the 2 cards that get drawn.

Instead of Sidereal Confluence you could try Trade on the Tigris which scratches the same itch in half the time.

My only problem with negotiation games is when people get weirdly personal with it - Hey he won the last 2 games, nobody ever trade with him, ugh.

I know this is nitpicky but does Tammany Hall count as gerrymandering? I thought you had to redraw district lines to gerrymander which you can't do in Tammany Hall

Next Board Game Club should be Sheriff of Nottingham...perhaps when you guys finally meet face to face after the pandemic.

Negotiation games seems to be the genre most hurt by Monopoly - lots of people grow up getting lopsided trades in Monpoly to the point that they expect trades to be unfair and that can really hurt some of these games. It's also a mechanism that lets people be spiteful and king make so it's something I can see people not wanting to see in games. Not a fan of Catan - the robber can create a perpetual miss a turn effect, and where's the fun of a game where you can't get the resources you need to trade and build? I actually prefer Compounded by Dice Hate Me/Greater Than Games, which has a neat science theme. Have you tried Level99's Tomb Trader? It's a really quick and dirty negotiation game where players get 1 minute to divide up the loot, and if there is a single disagreement, no one gets anything. That's either a brilliant feature or game breaking if you get a player determined to be a bellend...

Only Adam can make me watch about board games. Is it his charisma? Or my respect for him being a fellow wrestling fan? Probably both

Did you mistake the boss for a capo? Capos get money and bring it to the boss. The people under the capos are soldiers. Before they are inducted they are only associates. A friend of ours vs a friend of fine.

I think sheriff of Nottingham is a bit overrated on this list. New Angeles and Tammany hall are much better
