I’m getting into bikes late, I’m 50 now, will hopefully get my full class 6 after Christmas. Agree 100% with what you’re saying here. I’m still trying to get confidence in the wet. Trying to get my brain to let me lean when the road is shiny. Trying to find out what that wet limit is is still a challenge.
Good for you mate. It does take quite a bit of saddle time to feel more comfortable in the wet. I usually ride well within my comfort zone and judge the conditions each time. At the end of the day, I'll pick riding safely over looking good. Good luck with the licence.
Hi LandShark. I’m in the UK, passed my full motorcycle test in August, bought a DL650 9 days later, and ride it home over 180 miles, including 2 short motorway sections. It definitely takes a while to settle in to 2 wheels motoring, and wet weather adds something else. I’m in my mid-fifties, and have experience of driving HGvs, but the freedom is tangible and exciting. My VStrom is fantastic, a very low miles 2014 [gen2]. For anyone else new to riding, yes, it has some risks, But doesn’t everything which adds value to life do the same, and ultimately, that’s what makes it worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, be safe, and take your time to pick things up. 👍
Thanks for watching and sharing mate. It's a great bike, it's my go-to bike for nearly everything. Keep enjoying it because you're hooked now, it's in the blood. haha
@@landshark9603 yes, it is in the blood, you’re so right with this! I commute 30+ miles 5 days a week, it’s been wet, windy, and it’s beginning to get colder in the mornings. If I have to bail out due to snow or hard frost, I will do this, as I’m not a risk taker, more a risk manager, and I’m Ok with this attitude. But by golly, it’s reduced the work spill into a commute, and returned the enjoyment factor so, so much. We’ll be trying pillion soon to, which will open up a whole different world for us. Keep safe mate, and thanks for sharing this vid! 🙏🙏👍
Thank you for sharing this videos, very informatively, am 68 years, still riding a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1700, and looking for some lighter motorcycle, read bout the Honda NC 750 serie, compared it with the V-Strom, etc... Ik like your videos thanks! Jan
