I feel like Nate (Keita) from Yo-Kai Watch should be an honorable mention. Once the series progressed, his crush on Katie (Fumi Chan) started to go into ridiculous scenarios such as Nate liking when Katie bossed him around or having swimsuit fantasies. It was a classic Flanderzation moment where the writers just took a simple childhood crush & blew it to "notice me senpai" levels

The funny thing about Anna from Shimoneta is that she's actually a subversion on the usual "Notice Me Senpai" characters. She is actually the senpai (in the proper sense of the word) of the guy she's crushing on so badly. And at the start of the show it is outright stated that HE had been crushing on HER since childhood because of how pure, sweet, and kind she was! But when that switch was flipped, she lost those qualities and he fell out of love with her. Which just goes to show you how superficial the "Notice Me Senpai" crush really is.

I think I might have another honorable mention for you, Robyn: Madoka Magica's little time traveler, Homura Akemi. I know this is gonna sound confusing, but bear with me. Homura was pretty much a shy girl who got roped into the magical girl business when Madoka rescued her. As she learned from her senpai, it eventually led her to making that fateful wish to save Madoka and reverse time. After about 150-200 times she traveled backwards, she eventually decided to try and kill herself by making herself into a witch and defy Kyubey's logical reasoning, but even then Madokami saves Homura from herself and says that she will never abandon her precious friend, that she will always protect her and help her when she's in need, and in the end, Homura has a chance to go to Madoka's heaven and stay with her. Aww, that's so sweet. She actually has a chance to be with her friend forevermore. Will she accept the chance? *(Big red NOPE)* I thought so! Instead of accepting her offer, Homura rips Madoka in two, creates her own boring universe, and becomes a demon to protect Madoka! Oh come on, you had a great chance to be with the girl you cared about and now you just tossed her aside so you can live in your own miserable little fantasy world. My God, doesn't that girl have enough issues?!

In Juvias defense, she wasn't a crazy notice me, senpai girl. And the whole reason for her notice me shtick, was that she had likely gone her whole life with everybody distancing themselves from her due to her power, which just made her more and more lonely and hungry for people and attention. Then comes along Gray. So it's only natural that she would fall head over heels for him.

Yuno seems like an interesting character to me, only in things that spoil the show/manga *SPOILER ALERT* The Yuno in the anime isn't the same Yuno as in the timeline. The Yuno on screen the longest was the one who came from the first timeline, in which she met Yuki and fell in love with him, and she has the same backstory as most modern Yandere have: her life before meeting Yuki was dark and grey with nothing but loneliness and abuse, and he was the only light in her life. By the time judgement day came, Yuki 1 and Yuno agreed to go out together with poison pills. Only Yuno didn't take her pill so she could win, under the assumption that she could bring Yuki back. She went into even greater despair as the God of Timeline 1 because she killed the man she loved, and decided to go back in time and make a second timeline by taking her past self's place. The rest, from then on, is portrayed in animated cels. She seems to be the prime case in animation for Obsessive Love Disorder (which is basically Yandere syndrome); mainly because she suffers from literally every symptom. And I feel the version of Yuno's OLD is much worse than what occurred in the last timeline, given that she killed her first Yuki under the assumption she could bring him back. This Yuno is an interesting character, in how it makes people care for, fear, and sympathize for her with the hell she went through, and what suffering she inadvertently brought on herself.
