Yuri Vardanyan was my hero growing up in Armenia. Sadly he died at age 62 way too young..RIP... 😞 Same goes for Naim an amazing athlete passed a way at early age RIP 😞

Fierce and organised competition amongst the Iron Curtain countries. Alexeyev was a household name around the world back then. Not so Talakhadze. Now they are westernised and weightlifting in general has become pussified. Lifters these days are more likely to talk about their lifting boots than how hard they train.
@@22448824 Weightlifters still train hard. The drug testing has just gotten better. Competitions back then either never tested, or the procedures were so bad that you never had to evade detection.

And what if Stefan Botev was able to compete at the same competition? In training multiple times he made 210 260 before the Olympics, but the Bulgarian team mistimed the drugs and couldn't compete. Imagine what they would have pushed eachother to
@o-neil if Botev competed, Yuri and Stephan would be the 1 and 2 greatest of all time. Which one was which would have been decided on that historic day in 1988.
Naim is amazing, but personally I think lashas 492 is the most impressive 2 lifts ever, especially the 225 snatch, many if not all didnt even believe that this could be achieved.
All top totals are from the eighties except for Lasha’s. That was pretty much the Golden Age of dubious drug testing for lifters from Iron Curtain countries.
@@ibfreely8952 Ha ha! Point taken. I doubt ANYONE’s clean at that level, then and now. But they are more careful now! Even Lasha got popped before he ascended Olympus. I knew 2 top US lifters who competed in the 1972 Olympics (one later became a famous pro wrestler). The were shooting up and gulping pills in plain sight at a West Coast gym they often trained at. Imagine what Soviet lifters we’re doing 😂

Златев,Захарович и Варданян как по моему лучшие из за веса,роста и нормальной длинны рук они могут плавать бегать они выносливые не широкие что касается Наима и Талакадзе наим очень кароткий люди в его весе обычна более худощавые поэтому их так мало а Талакадзе очень жырный из за этого он не выносливый и из за веса 183 вес который он поднимает не очень велик по сравнению с другими такие люди редки и в быту у них будет очень много проблем

I strongly and truly recommand you revise this video because this does not include Pyrro Dymas, from Greece, 3 consecutive Olympic gold medals winner and a brone medal. Undisputed, he is considered the GOAT.
