Honestly the fist fight was the best boss ending I've seen from almost any other game. The raw passion as to battered souls who have the same beliefs fight it out in one last final stand for their personal flavor of justice was just amazingly done.

The music and “pillage him” made yaldabaoth number one for me

Maruki's fight is easily my favorite moment in this series. Though I prefer P4 on balance, the pacing of Maruki's dungeon and his character development were absolutely enthralling. I still get chills when I hear Throw Away Your Mask.

Yaldebaoth fight is symbolic for your group. You took things in your own hands and made people rely on you to the point that they assume you will take care of everything. Basically you cause this fight to occur, not by choosing to fight the fake Igor but by your actions throughout the game. If you had never made the P Thieves, it wouldn't have happened. Kasumi alludes to this in the brief scene with her, Joker, and Akechi. In that regard it is beautiful. The entire game is the build up in a sense.

Man, Maruki was such a powerful sequence as a whole. My favorite final boss sequence in all of gaming for the cinematics of it alone.

Why did fake Igor help Joker? I think it did actually make sense because he knew that all the palace leaders that Joker would eventually defeat were becoming prisoners in mementos just like the rest of the people. Also, he had to watch over Joker because the real Igor essentially tried to set Joker up for success with the end goal of defeating Yaldabaoth. Great video nontheless and I mostly agree with your choices.

Maruki is probably my 2nd favorite final boss of all time. Everything about it is just perfect. I've only played royal, not the original, so I honestly can't imagine this game without that finale, or without the third semester. If Yaldabaoth was the actual final boss I would have been really disappointed honestly.

Honestly I loved how they did Maruki’s character. They both have very different ideals of freedom and how they go through pain. I know we are supposed to treat Maruki like a villain, but honestly he really isn’t, he sticks to his true character, which is a therapist or counselor. He just wants pain to go away and life to be perfect, so in that sense you can’t really blame him, but it’s the concept of wanting a perfect world that really lets me think about it a lot. I mean, a perfect world where nothing in life can go wrong for you. It relieves you of pain and hardship which makes life stressful. That’s what made me believe that I shouldn’t be thinking Maruki is right because we were meant to go through life with pain and hardship with our own ideals, which also somewhat comes to climax when joker and Maruki get into a fist fight, with their ideals duking it out and their personas are free.

There’s not nearly enough top 10s for Persona so you should definitely do more

Maruki's fight is my favorite. It blew the god of control out of the water.

Okumura's boss fight was my favourite one in the game because it took actual strategy and felt genuinely rewarding when I completed it. It incentivises using the baton pass mechanic and can absolutely be completed on a regular difficulty without white rider or being overlevelled, given that I did so myself. No other fight in the game gave me the same satisfaction as beating okumura except maybe maruki.

MAruki's on Music Alone makes me cry, let alone Maruki's goals itself :(

My buddy Alex told about how bonkers Shiki-Ouji is in P5/R with his resistances, so I made a Shiki-Ouji leveled and equipped to face endgame threats. *FYI, Shiki-Ouji NULLIFIES physical, gun, bless, and curse attacks.* I took him into the rank 8 Akechi 1v1, and that bastard couldn’t even TOUCH me. (Aside from him using Megidola once.)

My favorite boss in the game is indeed Dr. Maruki. He was well build up in the beginning, the level leading up to him helps reflect his story and how he views his world without any harm, his motives make you feel sympathetic, the phases of the fight were challenging (though phase 3 was more of surviving the attacks and healing) and the emotions, oh god the emotions, they make me tear up a bit. This is why he is not just my favorite boss in the game, but also my favorite final boss in recent years, and as a character, he is my personal favorite.

I think Maruki and Nyx were probably my two favorite bosses of all time for me. Both had so much symbolism and detailed mechanics and crazy actions that they are truly unforgettable.

Okumura's fight is not that hard, the night before i crafted some tools to use elemental attacks from party members who dont have certain elements, then batton pass trought the entire party leaving the ones who have the elemental skill required at last, at batton pass level 3 you can easly one shot every single robot, doing this strategy is not only more efficient but way more fun, than using aoe skills and downing every single enemy at the same time.

Love how you pointed out the differences between vanilla and royal for the bosses here. I started out P5 by playing and beating Royal, now I am playing vanilla. I was surprised when certain things didnt happen during my boss fights, like Mishima prepping volley balls for Kamoshida. My favourite boss fight has got to be Yalbaboath, really love the boss battle theme, and the general mechanics, cant wait to face him in my first playthrough of vanilla.

I will always say that Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a good game, and people give it way too much hate.

See I just found him like I did in the base game, and that led to an incident where he started spamming an attack where he dumped a bunch of money on you, The thing that’s really interesting about this is that even though it does stupid damage, there comes a point in which he just can’t do it anymore. And once that happens both his bodyguards just leave.

I'm honestly really surprised that shido is so low. Going solo joker against him is something I'll never forget. It made the music hit 10 times as hard and it was already piercing a hole through me and after makoto spammed mediarama for the past few minutes, it presented a challenge not in actual combat but in managing which persona to switch to and when. I was constantly thinking "is this a good idea" while before it was just debilitated, charge, cross slash and mediarama with the odd defense up if futaba forgot she existed (I didnt use the self harm tactic) Also FUCK okumura. The only reason I beat him was because the only green bot left on the 2nd turn also happened to be the one self destructing

I still think the best part of the Maruki fight was the fist fight. There was so much frustration and anger built up there, and the voice acting just made it that much better. I mean Maruki's VA did an amazing job with that scene. It honestly reminded me of --Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood spoilers-- the Mustang vs envy fight. I mean you could equip psi skill rings to other party members so they have psi skills, the fight isn't to bade once you die the first time and repair, but you can beat it really quickly on merciless mode

...I've only played p2, but my favorite boss fight from that game was definitely Angel Joker. The battle itself wasn't anything special(most boss fights in this game can be cheesed pretty easily), but the emotional significance was really great.

In regards to what you can do in the Okumura fight other than White Rider and hope it works, if you made enough Psy and Curse items at the workbench then you can baton pass between all 4 team members and end with Haru having a very powerful attack on all of the robots.

I loved Okumura's fight. Took me a lot of tries to beat it but I felt very accomplished. I will not deny that it is a HORRIBLY designed fight but I personally enjoyed the challenge

No youre right its a proper end game fight and it owns your attention the entire time. I wasnt expecting it to replace the previous ending i was expecting the secret dungeon to just be an extra prolly related to sumere. I didnt expect maruki to be it and it was very well set up and executed. And for it to be a more fitting end to the story i didnt think it cpuld be done. But atlus always shatters my expectations

Honestly shido’s last stage can be a joke if you catch into the patterns I literally just used repel/null/drain/counterstriker personas to absorb hits and just use whatever powerful skill I had on it

I would technically count fighting Sumire's berserked Persona a full on boss fight, but great list regardless. Though I'd switch Akechi and Shido around cuz there's a lot of new stuff going on with Shido's new boss fight than just the one-on-one.

Adachi is still my favorite boss in the series but maruki is super close

You’ve gotten yaldabaoths motivation incorrect. Yaldaboth’s wager with igor was that if the chosen trickster was empowered society could be freed from its selfishness. Because humanity didnt respond to shido’s change of heart yaldaboth determined humanity didnt have the wherewithal to become better therefore humanity just needed to be made slaves

5:27 An easy way i found was to craft a bunch of psi damage items that target one enemy and make sure Joker has a persona with either mapsio or maeiga, and also have Haru on the team. When you get to the segment with the green bois you spend the first turn dealing with the stat changes and hunger (if necessary) while also either using concentrate on Joker, increase his attack or decrease the enemies defense. You then spend the second turn using a psi item with one of the party members beside Joker and Haru (Morgana for example), you then baton pass to the other non Haru/Joker party member, do it again then baton pass to haru and ONLY USE PSIO on ONE of the enemies, then you finally baton pass to Joker, use either mapsio or maeiga and since one of the enemies was still standing you'll get a one more, do it again and you should be done with them as long as you don't miss and have a decent magic stat.... boss shit

Okumura was one of my favorite fights in royal it’s hard but it’s great when you can finally beat it

Honestly, the Okumura fight on Hard wasn't that bad. I ran out of time on my first attempt, went back to the Velvet room and got killed by an unlucky crit on the second, but I got it down on the third. You just have to play strategically and use the items at your disposal. My only complaint would be that unless you were intentionally handicapping yourself in the Palace run, there would be no way that you'd ever learn or guess that the green robots were weak to curse, since the robots in the Palace only tell you about their psi weakness. If I knew that, I could have just used curse items to chain Baton Pass and the fight would have been way easier. Instead, I just had to power through with Haru/Joker with psi attacks and the others buffing/debuffing when necessary. Executive only aims for Haru, so making her use Tetrakarn on herself every turn makes that phase a free punching bag for the rest of your party, and the Haru bot will just self-destruct, so easy W. It's the only boss fight in the game where you really need to slow down and plan, which I think is good boss design, especially for the hardest difficulty.

5:33 Or have gotten a Vitality of the Tree Thermopolye (however you spell it) Persona from Network Fusion. As I swear I got super lucky and got someone who was using that as a random fusion material and that made my game so much easier. As AOE Heat Riser for only 30 SP is broken when Vitality of the Tree takes away the restriction.

If you have Psy magamata or Curse items and use baton pass after them the trash cans in Okumara's boss are much easier

I think P5R is worth it because of just one single moment: I BELIEVE. That music is so underrated, it plays in a segment so damn small and I wish they have done or put the final safe room far away from the final staicase just because the music is the best in the game.

I actually beat Okumura easy on my second go around. I had Magatsu-Izanagi I got from an alarm fusion, so Magatsu Mandala did ungodly damage. And the green bots are weak to curse.

I love the new okumora fight it’s great the frustration is very fun to watch Now that I have the game :I played it and it was quite easy

In order to beat okumura I had to use elemental items and go up to merciless difficulty to do enough damage

Elemental/spell combat items + baton pass trivializes the Okumara fight

The problem with okumura is it not being clear that the robot can be hit with dizzy (the skill given to by haru so you will always have this) with that you can easily set up a 4 chain dp and one shot them with gun with joker or haru. This fight try to teach you the importance of dp chain and how many extra dps you can get from them. It still bad design because people tend to make the fight hard on themselves by using aeo psy/curse only give you a 1 chain were the fight expected at lest a 3 chain

I did okumura on normal first try and it was pretty easy for me you just have to baton pass a lot using items

I was a little let down by maruki's fight. I feel like I found a winning baton pass chain pretty quickly and the 1st phase became repetitive after that. I would have liked if they switch up affinities of the tentacles every now and again. Maybe add hifumi's rank 10 ability to the fight for those who don't have it so the player doesn't get potentially stuck.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a great game, I will not be told otherwise! Please try it if you haven’t played it, it’s really great and the combat is honestly some of the most fun I’ve had in a turn based game. Even more fun than P5R’s combat imo.

I think its very funny how he just dosnt understand that your supposed to use single hits on 3 of the robots, then baton pass and do a multi hit with joker or another party member that can hit the weakness, then to someone who can deal multi hit neutral damage. Instead of just doing a multihit move upfront

Helping you then screwing you over and blaming you is kinda Yaldaboths deal.

Strategy that worked for me in the Okumura fight (Especifically the phase 4 robots): 1. Make sure both Joker and Haru are in your party with curse skills available to you 2. Whichever first party member goes, who is NOT Joker or Haru, use a curse or psy bomb to inflict weak status and gain the ability to baton pass 3. Pass to another party member, but again, NOT joker or Haru, and repeat the previous step 4. Now pass to either Haru or Joker (Whichever), and repeat the previous step once again 5. Now with a final baton pass available switch to remaining of the two and unleash an every enemy attack on the robots, ideally cursed or psy, which is now free and fully buffed. I recommend you get your hands on either Atropos or Belphegor before this, as both of these have Concentrate as an innate ability. Buff up either Haru or Joker before you do this to ensure maximum damage.

To be fair, if you get the switch out in battle ability this can be beaten in one go with Everyone at proper leveling

For Okumura my main strat was to build up Baton Passes by using items so I could deal more damage.

Why do both final bosses in this game get defeated by Joker shooting them in the head?

I've only played persona 5 royal once and never played persona 5 before that. I just now realized you can switch out party members in battle because of this video showing it.

The only way I got past the fifth wave of okumura's fight was getting lucky by killing three of them while the last pulled sacrifice order.

I know maruki is technically best but I can’t see it as yxh because if the conditions surrounding the fight I beat him on my first attempt after 2 hours trying to get past the first phase and due to external circumstances had to pause the fight halfway through over night Now this caused my immense stress due obviouse time sink related issues It’s still great and I beat it the day after but I’m not going to be able to fully appreciate it until a second go around and given I platinumed vanilla P5 a couple months before I am a bit burnt out on the game so will be taking a break (also the tutorial is hard to get past due to how slow it can be even with dialogue skipping)

For okumara I just set it to the hardest difficulty to skew difficulty and it way pretty easy after that
