So happy that Mendocino and Avenue of the Giants are getting attention. Two of my favorite places on Earth. I'm adding Lassen to my list of places to go.
The floods of 1964 made the Eel River rise high above flood stage and it wiped out several towns. We just drove through Weott on the Avenue of the Giants and noticed a sign up in a tree showing the ''high water mark''. My guess is that the sign was 50 feet above the road. The rains scared me and I have never seen it come down so hard since 1964.
Most people butcher these videos about NorCal places so I was ready to put you on blast... but you did an amazing job! Thank you for presenting some of our most beautiful places in such a great manner. Great video!
I live in Southern California as well and am happy to say that this is the first time I’ve seen one of these videos where I’ve actually visited every spot on your list, but I’ve had 60 years of living in California to do it.
Wow ive lived in northern california my whole life and dont know anything about these places, except for lake tahoe i have been there and i loved it. I really need to get out more!
Burney Falls Avenue of the Giants Cindercone & Lava Beds Emerald Bay Mt Shasta & Lake Siskiyou Point Reyes Bumpus Hell Glass Beach Mendocino Lake Tahoe
How many days would it take to hit all of these places I have 13 days off at the end of September and I would like to hit as many as possible what I spend most of my time driving or could we set up Camp and enjoy
Thank you so much for doing this! How the cover 'Nor Cal' leapt into my heart like an arrow, n ignited many a fond memories afire.. spanning 35 yrs since college Been there done all that still thoroughly enjoyed every stop!! Yeah Lake Tahoe.. the Emerald Bay..!! ✌✌❤❤
P.S. One place not listed here (Do I wanna say?) Is Shelter Cove -- NYT covered! A most rugged 1-hr drive to get to, with literal hair pin turns after which every car must pull over at the General Store to cool the brakes! But when you do get there! Breath taking coastal lines w beautiful cliffs, w two beaches n a darling custom home community, NYT called it a Hidden Gem on California coast! Pls check it out!
Lived in northern CA most of life and been to most of your list. But thanks for letting me know I’ve been missing out on Lassen NP my whole life! Been on the list for a while but might have to bump it up and take a family camping trip this summer!
You’re so welcome! Yes Lassen is a very underrated NP! Who doesn’t want to see boiling mud pots and acid rivers? It has beautiful blue lakes and rocky peaks too. Love it 😊
I lived in redding my whole life, was born there. It was the best place to live because i was 2 hours away from anything great in any direction, id often drive on 298 to Humboldt on a monthly basis for fun get up at 5am, get dressed out the door by 7, grab a coffee, then off i go
Such a great place to live if you love nature. Honestly I don’t know why people pay the price to live in California if they just sit at home and watch Netflix lol
@@mr.joshua204ahh that’s too bad. California is gorgeous! I don’t really feel like the political stance is that bad. I don’t like the cost of living, but I don’t really like the issues other states have either…
@@PeterOwenFilms in California, you're not allowed to stand your ground, and of you do, you can be arrested and sent to prison, a criminal can hurt themselves on your property while stealing, and sue you for it. The gun laws are ridiculous, the new 20 dollars an hour will make the cost of living even worse, and will kill jobs, crime is horrible, tweakers are all over, and the list goes on. I loved northern California, but I couldn't raise my family in that kind of environment. My last straw was when sx traffickers followed my wife while she was jogging, luckily she got home before they caught up to her, but They caught the traffickers at a near Walmart when they tried to kidnap someone there later on that day. And living in California, I just didn't feel safe the way I did growing up in the 90s. My last year in redding, that's where I'm from, buissness we're closing down due to newsoms new tax laws for buissness owners, which meant I lost my job that I worked for thr last 5 years. I had all this experience, but the only people who wanted to hire me were temp agency jobs amd mcdonalds. So I took my wife's advice, flirted with idaho jobs, applied over a dozen, and not even a week later, they all wanted me. So I picked a warehouse job, moved to idaho, bought our first home, 2 years later I upgraded to a cdl position, and have been in idaho for 4 years now, and I have excelled soo much more than I wouldve in California, financially and career wise. I'm even getting my hazmat endorsement tomorrow so I can quit and start delivering fuel to gas stations. In California I'd have to do a 3 month long coarse and pass through hoops, in idabo, all I did was take one online coarse, and now I'm eligible to take thr test. I can even buy whatever firearm I want, buy it, and take it home all within 30 minutes. My quality of life is soo much better in idaho, but what I sacrificed was my home town, and everything that I knew. It was a small sacrifice to make, for a sense of normalcy..until democrats turn idaho into a democratic ran state lol
Please come back up to the Tahoe region. There’s a a place called “Desolation Wilderness”. You can access it from Wrights Lake Rd off of hwy50. If you go to Wrights Lake (in the back of the lake) are multiple trail heads. You would be absolutely amazed at how many incredible alpine lakes are up there, and they are all breathtaking, and, the trails are not incredibly long to get to the beautiful lakes.
Great video. I Just did a five day camp trip with the family at Williams Cove, which is right off of the Avenue of the Giants. Camping in the massive redwoods is the best. Nothing like it, Also, it’s right off the eel river. The water is super clear.
Thanks, I'm planning on a family trip starting/ending in SF that incorporates several of these (and Crater Lake NP in Oregon.) Burney Falls is getting added to the itinerary! Gonna have to hit Lake Tahoe on another trip.
People sleep on Pescadero and Loma Mar. One of the best bread ive had in my life in Pescadero's little town and then just drive into the redwoods and snack.
Thank you so much! Oh shoot I've only been up there in the summer so I am not too sure, but I don't think it snows much by the coast? I think the weather stays pretty moderate, but if you go inland then it might snow. This is just my guess so you might want to check a few cities up there. Good luck!
@@ct6852 There are great sand dunes at Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes on the central coast near Santa Maria. Pirates of the Caribbean and The Ten Commandments were filmed there.
@@kcinca5410 Oh yeah I've been there I think. If they're the dunes by Pismo? Totally forgot those movies were filmed there. I remember hearing a story about the old movie sets that were buried. Would be super fun to stumble upon them.
That is so funny you pointed that out. That is a secret spot only the locals know about. I stumbled upon it, but I can't remember where it is. There were two people out there and said, "How did you find this place? This is a locals spot." I was driving around some neighborhood and noticed an opening in a fence and just went for it. It was so beautiful, but the whole coastline is beautiful so you can't go wrong.
What is the place at 4:47 ? And I would recommend these two places that are relatively easy to get to: Fern Canyon in Redwood National Park and Grove of the Titans in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
Wow thank you for sharing! We are going to be visiting California next month. What would you say is a must do hike if we had to chose one? We plan on visiting Yosemite, Sequoia, Hollywood and Big Sur. Great video and tips!
You’re so welcome!! Wow that is a hard question to answer. You’re going to beautiful places and you can’t go wrong. In Hollywood you should definitely hike to see the Hollywood sign. I like the Innsdale trail. I also love the Griffith observatory hike. If you want to see the ocean in LA check out the Los Liones trail. You’re going to love your trip!
There are so many amazing places in NorCal but I'm not going to point them out here. There are already way too many people here and don't want to make it easy for others to find them.
@@PeterOwenFilms I was hoping you had found a way to request a permit or get one approved easily. Lassen is basically in my backyard and I visit a lot.
@@jdwme As much as I'd LOVE to film these national parks with my drone, I accept that it is prohibited... I haven't heard of anyone getting a permit. My guess is the ONLY way would be if there were a search and rescue mission or some kind of research by the park.
sorry dude but your section on Mt Shasta showed scenes of Mt Lassen. Big mistake. Also its impossible to hike up Mt Shasta. Its a real climb that requires snow camping one night. To be done only by real mountain savy climbers. Mt Shasta always has snow on the peak but Mt Lassen does not during the summer. Mt Lassen is relatively easy hike of around 4 hrs round trip. Well worth it especially at night on a full moon in july, aug or sept only.
@PeterOwenFilms lol for sure man. Enjoy your time there and everywhere else you travel too. Stay blessed and much love. By the way if you're in that area you should check out Sam's Chowder House for some good food in Half Moon Bay
SOME OF THESE PLACES💋The other ones Kinda Scary 😲....Even Scarier than me knowingly seeking to purchase a 2006 Eddie Bauer Edition for LESS THAN $2,500😵💫🤢
