you guys have quickly become one of my favorite comic book channels. have even started keeping an eye out for those high grade, low census bronze age comics in our collection. refreshing to find a page with your perspective, especially when 90 percent of content so cynical and shallow in its actual advice
I was at a local comic con today and recommended your channel to people I met - a father an son just starting out - as I felt that they could learn a lot from what you have to share. I'm quite confident that the other subscribers would agree that you have a wealth of information that you share with all of us. Always look forward to your videos.
Best dad-daughter duo on RU-vid! Like the sentiment at the beginning of the episode ... people ought to approach negotiations with the intent of ensuring both sides get a fair deal.
Just found your channel the other day. I was looking into cleaning and pressing my books. Your video was the BEST I have seen. Very thorough and I love your guys down to earth approach and genuine love of the hobby. I wanted to say shortboxed has become one of my favorite places to buy books. Their inventory isn't the best yet, but the ease of use, fast shipping and bulletproof packaging keeps me coming back. Keep up the good work you two!
I feel like class is in session when watching your videos. I do not think there is anything as a bad Joe Kubert cover. And, Ernie Chan is under appreciated in my book. He seemed to be everywhere for DC in 1975 and 1976. Love his art. Now, I am biased as his art graces the cover of the first comic I remember buying as a kid, Justice League #133. Still one of my absolute favorite comics to this day.
Love the information that you guys gave here. I have used my comic shop, and have looked at heritage before. But haven't seen pedigree. Also have only bought from mile high on ebay. That website would get old to deal with real quick.
I use my Comic Shop a lot - only had 1 bad experience out of 20. I used What Not for about 10k of books but there is a lot of tricky people in there and 10% of the time there is grading issues or shipping issues. I used Heritage too but their fees are really high.
This was super helpful! I like to buy on Comic Connect, I like that they have raw books and it just feels more affordable. Love those Animal Man books, a very underrated character!!
Thank you for each and every video you guys have made. So much info and fun to watch. I learn from each and every video. New collector and love learning. thank you
I have only recently found your channel and I think you guys do a great job. I really look forward to watching your videos and appreciate how truthful and honest you both are on whatever you are discussing. Keep up the good work!
I always enjoy your content and would absolutely follow y'all on whatnot if you were on there. I never do well on Instagram claim sales because of my Internet.Keep up the channel because I truly enjoy your daughter and your interactions.
Alright! Nice mentioning the CGC board. I have been waiting and hoping more people would start selling there (at least ones who ask reasonable prices). I have no kudos page either. Haha yeah I think there are some who refresh all day. The Comiclink Exchange is good too, I just sold 2 books there today. If you ask a fair price it will sell. Great presentation you two.
I think this show is just great. I really look forward to each episode- it's just my speed with great content knowledge and hints and tricks to make the best of the hobby. Excellent content! Thank you.
Thanks for the information. I came across a Mile High Comics advertisement in an early eighties comic only today. If only we could go back in time and order! 😂 May well have been a little over-priced even then, but the prices sure look low from today’s viewpoint!
Great video again! My personal favourite place to buy is My Comic Shop on raw comics, graded by MCS experienced graders, because they are awfully strict, and in my opinion undergrade. Catawiki is a european auction site which sometimes has great opportunities (not so well known, so you have less competition :)). I bought some great old Avengers stuff (6,7 among others) there for a really good price..
Stumbled across your site and immediately subscripted after watching this video - very informative. Loved the sense of community vs endless self promotion, but do understand folks need to earn compensation for their time and effort. Look forward to watching other videos.
great video…I recently picked up the habit again and the last time I bought comics the internet was barely a thing so your video was a much needed intro to buying comics again. Thanks.
Love the Strange Adventures book! I have a totally beat version in my collection but have always thought that cover was truly compelling. Under-utilized character! Another top notch video - thank u for taking the time to create them!
Great video! Brought to my attention a few places I was not aware of to purchase comics. Thank you. The only place I am surprised you did not mention at all was Facebook. Between several comic groups and FB marketplace I have been lucky to get some great deals.
I didn’t mention Facebook or instagram because I have never bought a comic on either. I only put places I have experience with, but not everyplace. There wasn’t enough time to go over the few I left off.
Love this video!! I watched it twice, and took notes. I also booked marked every single site you talked about, so thank you very much for that. You guys are awesome! Love the energy you and your daughter have.
Great video guys! I’m fairly new to collecting and appreciate the content, probably the first video I’ve watched over 10 minutes that kept me engaged and interested .. will be checking out some of those sites for sure, just clicked that subscribe button 🤘
I am lucky enough to have an amazing LCS. I have bought a lot on eBay and What Not but not so much lately because of my LCS. Absolutely love you guys love the show.
I’m really loving the content. Thanks for the tips. I just recently picked up a couple keys on a comiclink auction, but I normally purchase on eBay or Heritage.
I had to smile when I saw Mile High Comics on your list! Its kind of a shame their web site is kind of stuck in the 90's. They played a big part in kickstarting my comic book collecting journey in the early '80s. Back then, it was all about the spinner rack at my local Hallmark Card shop-hit and miss every month. Then came Mile High with their irresistible offer of 100 comics for $25. It was a game-changer for me. Soon after, I discovered their N.I.C.E. subscription plan, and I was hooked. Filling out that sheet, sending a check, and eagerly waiting for my personalized comic haul each month was a highlight of my collecting days. Curious if Mile High Comics play a role in anyone else's early days of collecting too? Cheers!
First-time subscriber to your "duo" channel. Really enjoyed the father & daughter banter on comics. This video was really informative. You introduced me to 4 online options for buying books (I don't sell). I'll check out other sites within the next couple of weeks, especially the CGC board. I recently bought a few books from WhatNot, but it's hit or miss. What are your thoughts on Instagram claim sales? I might also add IG one-day.
Love the videos and the passion you guys show, you can tell you really enjoy collecting. Thanks so much for all the great information and the sites, keep up the great work and looking forward to the next video's.
Great list, I use them all but pedigree and mile high. A few others I use are Reeces rare comics, World wide comics And being in canada, I use ICE Collectables alot.
I think my issue is I want to find people who are selling collections at a good price. If you could make a video on finding collections at a good price I think that would be awesome! great stuff as always.
I've only shopped for comics on either eBay or on Shortboxed but I am currently looking to buy on Comic Connect. However, I have purchased some comics through some independent auction sites. My goal for this year is to focus more on Silver and Bronze age books and ease up on going after the modern stuff.
Comic Connect is okay but the photos are limited and they often overgrade their books from what I hear. Plus shipping is $20. I got an Avengers #9(4.5 raw) for $140 last year was $180 after tax & shipping. They do take a while to ship as well, up to 1-3 months. It's dicey but you can find deals.
thanks for the info on navigating those sites,.....ive used some of them before. i also like to be fair, (whats that, huh)- you point out a sites shortcomings if needed.
Thanks, new places to check out, my things i'm looking for raw books. Most of the things i'm looking for were $1 bin books a couple years ago and now they are not. I did go to a new comic shop today and was a great place, Comics Metropolis LLC.
