- Applin is not only a worm but also a Wyrm which is a type of dragon & Torterra is also based on the World Turtle - Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza are based on the Leviathan, Behemoth, & Ziz - Dunsparce is based on the Tsuchinoko a rare snake cryptid - Infernape is based on the Monkey King / Sun Wukong from Chinese mythology - Frostlass is an obvious reference to the Yuki Onna while the pre-evolution Snorunt is based on the yukinko a childlike spirit in Japanese mythology said to emerge when it snows while wearing a straw raincoat or maybe It is on the zashiki-warashi said to bring good luck - Primarina maybe at first looks like a mermaid but is also based on the Selkie which are women that take the form of seals with their pelt - Whiscash is based on the Namazu a Japanese monstrous catfish that makes earthquake - Shiftry is based on the Japanese youkai called the Tengu - Mawile is based on the youkai called futakuchi-onna a woman that has a 2nd mouth on the back of her head

I love all of these pokemon and what they are based also I kinda like how the pokemon company(for the most part) don't really come out and this stuff and let the community figure it out ourselves, lore videos on all the pokemon games are always popular cuz of it

I was questioning why Mawile (one of the cutest little Steel Types) didn't make the list. The last time she ever got any real love was as a Mega Evolved Pokemon.

- Rayquaza is based also on the Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl. - Blaziken is based on basan, a legendary fire-breathing chicken of Japanese folklore. - Emboar is based on Zhu Bajie, a pig demon from the Chinese tale, Journey to the West. - Golduck is based on a Japanese youkai called a kappa. - Ninetales (Kanto form) is based on kitsune of Japanese legend, while its Alolan form is based on tulikettu, a mythical fox creature of Finnish lore whose radiant fur is said to be responsible for the creation of the northern lights.

The loyal three are okay. Ogerpon should be #3. In every other form of media oni's are evil and ugly. But Ogerpon is one of the cutest pokemon ever

@@MostHighEmperorPalpatine I almost always choose my favorite pokemon for their design and lore. Fezandipiti is okay and Pecharunt is actually a good and cute design. But Okidogi and Munkidori just don't have very good design

Lucario will always be my favorite Pokémon. As a kid I loved Ancient Egypt and Anubis was my favorite Egyptian God. I’m just so glad the made a Pokémon of Anubis and it’s one of the greatest of all time.

I always thought it was interesting that Sinnoh (a region based on northern Japan) has 3 pokémon either based on, or with Egyptian features. Luxray (Lynx/Sphinx) Weavile (Egyptian headwear) and ofc Lucario who is based on Anubis. Which really fits well with Sinnohs theme of mythology.

The mythologies are always fun to name Pokemon after. I’ve called my Lucario Anubis a few times, Garchomp is called Bahamut, and I started calling Bloodmoon Ursaluna Kim-un-Kamuy.

Missed a few good ones Houndoom: based on hellhounds Sableye: based on goblins, specifically the hopkinsville goblin and possibly the dover demon. Moltres: Based off a phoenix Zapdoes: based off thunder birds and totems Literally any dragon pokemon: you know why And a lot more

I feel like Ghost/Psychic would fit as Anubis is God of Embalming/Mummification and the one who watches the scales.

Annihilape easily became my #1 favorite Paldean pokemon without even expecting it to. When I started using it in my playthrough I was so happy with its performance that I tried using him competitively. He is still used in my vgc team to this day because I absolutely love his Rage Fist attack, combined with how surprisingly bulky he is + his Defiant ability.

Hydreigon Its name contains the German word for "three," hence the three heads. All three members of its line actually contain a number from 1 through 3, and the number of heads corresponds to such. Deino - ein (1) Zweilous - zwei (2) Hydreigon - drei (3)

Ok two things first Hercules is the Roman equivalent of the Greek Heracles. Second the Hydra didn't protext the golden apples a different beast a dragon named Ladon did.

You would think Lucario is a lot of people’s favorite Pokemon, however I never see anyone saying that. It is one of mine, but power aside I think Mightyena is the coolest and have seen a lot of people say it is theirs too.

I think Terrapaggo was the number 1 Pokemon based of Mythodgy and my Favourite Gen 9 Pokemon is Meowscarada since I like cats and their should be honerey mentioned to Infernape who is based on the monkey king Sun Woking/ Son Goku and Empoleon who are based off the Gods of the Seas Netune/ Poseidon.

Ninetails is likely based on a folklore Chinese nine tailed fox that possessed mythical powers. Charizard is obviously a Western dragon.

Hydrogen is cool because not only is it based off of creatures of various mythologies, it’s also a reference to King Ghidorah, a large three headed golden scaled wings dragon kaiju that is always enemies with Godzilla, a dinosaurian kaiju that inspired the creation of various pokemon in his own right.

Things like this made me have a love-hate relationship with Pokemon. Love it because of the cuteness and the lore of the series, and the good valuable lessons they have taught me. Hate it cause these mythos behind the creatures got them banned in my region for almost 11 years. Not to mention that devout Christians and Muslims that would happily cancel the shows and forbid the games and merchandise. All happily supported by stingy parents who don't want to spend some money for the happiness of their children.

Korrina and Marley had the best matches in there season I mean Ash didn't even win his match against Marley and her unstoppable Lucario best he could do was draw but she gave him the badge anyways cause it was that good of a battle honestly would recommend I don't like eri's voice 😭😭 she just sounded like Ash
