I'm off to check the dates on my Sovereign coins. I've at least two from the 1800's. I'm pretty sure I've nothing special. I think the most valuable full sovereign I have is a Victoria (Old head) that's in very good condition. I see them for sale at around £500 at the minute. When I bought it there were two the exact same but the first one I looked at had be professionally clipped and only weighed 7 grams. I was tempted to buy it and was offered a discount when I pointed out the missing Gold but I really don't need anything suspect in my collection so I bought the better example. The clipped coin was certainly interesting , who knows who clipped that and when but it was very cleverly done and had I not broken it out of the cardboard slip it was in I wouldn't have noticed the missing edge or the weight. Always weigh your coins, it's a very good indicator if it's legit or not. If in doubt, leave it out.
