I lived in Gainesville for one year and she is absolutely right about the weather. Its not as humid and I lived in Tampa and Orlando. Its definitely family friendly and very safe compared to other cities. Its very country but if you get out often you can find things to do. By the way the restaurant Dragon Fly she was talking about, BEST SUSHI I've ever had in my life. I still can't find a sushi place just as good.
spot on about gainesville. wife and I moved to Gainesville in august of 2016 for her to go to UF we never left. she works in Ocala and i attend Santa Fe with UF next. we love it here will never leave!
You said nothing in this video about one of the best things of Gainesville. What about our abundance of nature parks and wildlife preserves, where you can see the many animals of our unique ecosystem? Some of these parks are nestled in neighborhoods.
While Serving the VA I lived in both Ocala and Gainesville Florida and I must say I have no complaint's although my home is Puerto Rico ☝🏾 That Archer Road in loaded with awesome restaurants Burger Fi, Pollo Tropical, Texas Road House among others then Celebration Point I really enjoyed my stay there ☝🏾 Mission completed I retired and came back home to Puerto Rico 🙏🏾 But when it comes to Florida Alachua and Marion County are the best ☝🏾

What's the average cost of living for a family of 4 in Gainesville? Which areas should one be looking at as a grad student who needs plenty of quiet time to work on his research and thesis and still have a good fill of the city and school life?
Thinking of moving to the area. Just came down from upstate NY for a job but rent prices are sky high in area I'm in (Orlando). I think Gainesville maybe better for people working in education as well.
Ya know...I watch these videos about people discussing the benefits and drawbacks of living in Gainesville. Not a single one who makes these videos that I have discovered in quick searches on Y-tube has put an authentic Gainesville raised n' born native as speaker. All have "big city" type mainstream American accents. No...Gainesville is THE SOUTH and there is a huge difference. I am glad that there is a more diverse population then when I had lived there in the early 2000's---(besides some students on campus from all parts of the planet, but mostly the experience was Southern with the accents to go along with the experience. Has Gainesville, in it's huge rise in rental prices and all the other living cost raises in the past decade become, with all the increase in living cost, a more "cosmopolitan" citadel of a small University town?
I was raised in Naples (south Florida) and moved here in 2004 for college. I have two older brothers that went to UF also so I’ve been coming to Gainesville since 1996. I think because of UF and Santa Fe and the major hospitals, it’s become extremely diverse. I will say though, that the southern charm is still here too. :) I’ve had customers who have moved here from other states (California, New Mexico, New York, etc) comment on how in Gainesville people are friendlier, actually want to know how you’re doing. One customer was genuinely shocked when the cashier at Publix asked how his day was going. So I don’t know that I’d consider Gainesville super metropolitan, but I think it’s grown… a lot! Which brings about a bigger city feel, but I maintain that Gainesville still has its southern charm.
@@LindseyJohnsonRealtor few reasons .. 1. Florida is beautiful and I’m at the point in my life where I value the beauty of Mother Earth over vast majority of people … 2. Gainesville is like 2 hours away from other fun places in Florida and it’s inland so I don’t really think I have to worry about hurricanes or bad weather … 3. Political reasons .. just a better state to be in than vast majority ..

@@anon1q797 my pleasure! Noise is somewhat subjective however the closer to campus you live, the more likely to have late night activity. But that’s in a pretty specific area where it’s mostly college kids. Real estate is a phenomenal business (though obviously I’m biased). It’s hard work but incredibly rewarding. You have to take your class and pass that plus your state test before you can officially be licensed. Biggest factor when starting out is finding the right brokerage- as a new agent one that has great systems, education and support for their newbies is crucial. It’s a great career- I’m happy to help however I can.

@@zoroceylan409 hi there! Your address will dictate which public school your child is zoned for. If they turn 5 before the fall cutoff date, they’ll start kindergarten. If not, you can look into the VPK options to avoid hefty daycare fees. It’s a great town! When will you be moving?
That's relative to what your experience is. Yes, unfortunately there is no sea breeze in Gainesville but compared to 4 months of snow in the winter, high humidity isn't so bad
Clearly I am biased ;) but I can tell you I’ve only ever visited Tallahassee once or twice so it’s hard for me to compare. Anything specific that’s important that I can maybe help highlight for you?
Gainesville well there's no place to park anywhere unless you drive a sub compact car there's homeless everywhere and if you vote your vote doesn't count because the college kids out vote the people that have to live there so you're gonna live under rules that a bunch of teenagers voted for

I have several customers who’ve moved here for retirement but there’s a budding community of working professionals- I’d say lots of job opportunities depending upon your specialty
It depends on where you live in Gainesville. GRU (Gainesville regional utilities) has very high costs. They’re super reliable but very expensive. We also have Clay electric in certain areas which is way cheaper. Property taxes are higher in Alachua county as well because schools, churches and hospitals do not pay property taxes and with 2 colleges in addition to all the public schools, 3 major hospitals and lots of churches half of the population pays for 100% of the taxes. If you live right outside the county lines your tax bill could be 1/3. It’s funny because once you live here you kind of get used to it… I assume every area has its own”thing”. But there are ways around it too :)
