@@faridjabba Just outside of it has forests but it also has more of city space in lush parks than any city I have seen. The only "mountains" are hills south of the city; Pulkovo Heights which used to have ski resorts but winters have become shorter and warmer so they all went out of business.
Without a doubt StPB is the most amazing city to visit. In my travels I have had to visit most Euro cities.... they do not have the edge on StPB. Probably the cleanest and safest city on the planet. Not to mention the food and quality of everything they offer. Moscow comes a close second.

Having seen most of the great cities across North and South America, Europe, including Russia, as well Beijing and Vladivostok, I was mostly impressed by Saint Petersburg. The city was made for tourists. Plus great open spaces, which cause a lot of walking to get around. With end results: slim, elegant, beautiful women all over the city. Most likely Peter the Great envisioned the extra benefits of the miracle he has founded.
@@GustavoRodriguez-qr5po Saint Petersburg is for both - culture and tourism. Google: 'Hermitage', for arts. And find Sergey's Beel...website. Sergey will tell you all about Saint Petersburg. Moscow is great. Especially for the types that want to show off: I was there! But Moscow is very expensive for an ordinary person. I saw the world because I was an international management construction specialist and lived on expense accounts. Good luck.
@@GustavoRodriguez-qr5po The culture came first and attracted tourists. When the tourists go away in late September the real Russian experience begins for those who arrive later. It was not built for attracting visitors, not a Disneyland but a working city that focused on its unique culture as part of daily life. The culture and performances are for locals, but in the summer many, 10,000,000 visitors arrive so the destinations and activities promoted by guidebooks are extremely crowded, but there are so many equality interesting destinations ignored by the guidebooks that it is still easy to find far more to do that is not crowded than other cities New visa rules from October 1 2019 allows all of the EU plus 30 other country's citizens fee electronic on-line viss except the UK. The UK gives Russians such as a hard time getting a visa that Russia does not want them to have a free visa. So a total of 97 countries now get either visa-free entry or the new electronic visa. Plus a million a year arrive by ferry or cruise ship and can get visa-free entry from any country if they book a shore excursion with a Russian tour operator. Moscow is about the same Russian experience as combining Washington DC and NY City being an American experience. Not really related but Moscow is much nicer, friendlier and beautiful, and a lot safer. For a real Russian experience go stay in a village or dacha, or go to one of the other lesser-known regional capitals like Kazan or Volgagrad which are also beautiful, relaxed and welcoming. The real Russian experience is meeting strangers and being welcomed as an old friend, sitting at the kitchen table or in a pub and talking for hours about everything. Going to a forest banya (Russian hot/steam sauna many Russians have on their Dachas in the woods). Only then can someone begin to understand the Russian experience.
"Saint Petersburg 'May Be' the Most Beautiful City in the World"? - This *is* the most beautiful city in the world; as a matter of fact, Saint Petersburg isn't a city but a *dream!*
I travel the world and must agree: St Petersburg is one of the most stunning city that I have ever been to! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Cant wait to go back! Cheers from Brazil! Ps: Loved Moscow too
Have travelled to so many nations (born and raised in USA)--Russia is definitely my favorite place to visit. Top 2 cities I have ever visited are Piter and Moscow. I know the competition between Piter and Moscow---but get over it--these two cities are at the top two slots in the world. Just be proud to be Russian---both cities are way better than any other city I have visited. But, if a gun were taken to my head, I would pick Piter--like the more Russian Empire feel to it than the more USSR Moscow feel.
I visited St. Petersburg for the first time February last year and then went back during the World Cup!! Not for the city but for summer of the city. It's truly one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. Anyone here could recommend a time to visit during the fall season? I am just not sure when the leaves would turn gold in Russia.
I think, summer is the best season for visiting Saint-Petersburg. I wouldn't recommend other seasons to you, bc of bad weather. Saint Petersburg with bad weather becomes one of the most stressful cities in the world.
If you want to see the real Golden Autumn in Saint-Petersburg then middle of October will be your best choice. It is really beautiful there that time and if you liked Saint-Petersburg in Summer and Winter you will definitely like it in Autumn.
Many people claim that if Constantinople survived as a Roman city it would become like Florence. I disagree. I think a city like St. Petersburg looks closer to what Constantinople would have been. An orthodox rich city combining majestic mega-structures and monuments, with splendid Orthodox Churches, toppled with some central European aesthetics and various types of quarters signifying the cosmopolitan character and social class variances. Just like St. Petersburg.
The most stunning thing in Saint Petersburg in late June is the plethora of amazingly beautiful women you encounter walking Nevsky Prospect at night. I have never seen a city with such a high percentage of women who could be models.
Kate Malheiro The thing is, a lot of foreigners think all Russian women are like that and end up marrying lazy bitches who don’t want anything from them except money, they don’t do shit around the house either. I have personally witnessed such situations.
One day I’ll be there ♥️ what an amazing city in the world. I watched lot of videos it’s robbed my heart ♥️ in that beauty of city. Love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Been there 4 years ago during white nights. It is really a beauty of it's own kind. Thought about cities with that density of history and beauty... only thing that I could compare to that is Rome. I understand why Russians are proud of St. Petersburg, especially when you visit some of the museums.
I'm Russian and I've never been in saint Petersburg... Actually I've only been to Moscow 8 times (only in the domodedovo airport to travel by plane to UK lol) Feels bad man.
I have many bad words to say about Peter the Great, but the fact that the energy of one guy in charge created and left for us such a treasure in northern swamps is really amazing.
@@markusladen1391 In fact it is 80%, and almost all ethnic Russians live in the European part of the country, which is the original part of the country. The non-Slav peoples who inhabit Russian territory live in the Asian part of the country, so it is understandable that someone thinks it is strange for an Asian to say that it is from the European part of the country. But he lives in a big city so it is more normal, in the countryside the population is 100% Slav, Russia is a multicultural country, but at the same time do not mix ethnicities and cultures, each has its place.
best travel destination in Russia, a beautiful, magnificent master pieces from Peters Great, the name sounds it located in Swede or German, but it's Russia most European style city, so rich of culture and mirror of 300 years of imperial Russia history. I will go there again.
Rome has great history and weather, but it is all grey, crime-filled(pickpocket capital of the world) and dirty and overrun with cheap group tours. 50 years ago it was much nicer when I first it first. Paris was really nice back then but now gets 50,000,000 visitors a year and that ruins any homegrown culture. Rome and Venice are both hardly livable anymore.
Bambein Rome use to be, once upon a time, but now people go to visit the ruins of what was. It’s a shame really, what I would give to visit Rome at its peak, I doubt any city could come close to that beauty.
When I was a kid in primary St Petersburg school, I always preferred to stay at home when we had a class trip to some cathedrals and fortresses, I was bored to death. Now I understand that I might have been one of the luckiest students at that time
@MrCaptainStfu Well, I'm always eager to learn, but I've always considered it a European city. In fact, even Moscow is usually considered European. Can you provide a reference?
People are never our enemy. And don't even usually want to war against each other. We have government and unholy alliance which breeds riots and wars. This is a beautiful place.
MUST. VISIT. ST. PETERSBURG!!!! Awesome video explaining such a glorious city. Which season is the best time to go? I'm sure it's great to visit all-year round, but I'm curious!!!
When? It depends what you want from the visit. It is warm weather, higher hotel prices, dachas and very crowded streets and museums than summer is best. If you want more culture, ballet, opera, concerts, and dressing nicer, easy access to museums and lower prices surely it is autumn or winter. If it is for parties, end of Dec to January 10th or later when the whole country is a wild 10-day party. If you want changeable weather and wet feet, Spring. Every season is good but better for some goals. Winter can be a magical stunningly beautiful time of year. St Petersburg at night with light snow falling against millions of accent lights on beautiful buildings than winter is the time to come. Winters are a lot milder than the reputation. For 12-15 years we have had mild winters and not even much snow. We only had 3 snowfalls all year last year and one of them was April 1st. I never got out my winter coat last year and only a few times wore gloves. The historic weather before about 2009 was for much longer winters and colder temperatures. The favorite winter activities outdoors have faded, such as ice fishing, outdoor hockey, ice skating or cross country skiing. Chicago has much more cold weather than St Petersburg. It USED to be cold and long winters but now any more. My first visit was i 1976 and visited many times but finally moved here from California in early 2000.
I went to Saint Petersburg before that was amazing beautiful city and amazingly atmosphere one of the best cities I have ever visited ever hope go back soon ❤
Spb citizen here. Thank you for this video! I want to notice that white nights occur from mid-May to mid-June. Daylight hours begin to decline from June 21
Beautiful, yes, but 20+% of people live below the poverty line and economic doesn’t feel well and there is autocratic form of government with Putin as permanent president... So it’s not good idea to live in Russia in nearest years, trust me.
@@N0n0b0dy It's worked so well for the US. It is currently being subverted from within by communists and socialists. I would also like to move to Russia because i hear they do not allow leftists to have any power. Sounds like paradise.
Gosh. So this is the exactly what a *first world Continental European accurately resembles. intelligence, cultured refinement, historical inspiration, innovation and sheer majesty in the absence of any criminal activity/primitive anarchy. What a tremendous shame that the same isn’t reflected in Western Europe (courtesy of north america) due to an absence of mutual respect in the exclusive European and East Asian interest. Dear Russia, I am profoundly sorry for the embarrassment that our western leaders bring to your noble culture. I am very sorry for the shame that our present political ‘lessers’ have caused over the most recent centuries, whilst they illegally seek to demonize you as our closest kin, and not only eradicate our culture, but also destroy the loving bond between us. Everyone knows that the enemy to each of us lies within and in the rest of the world. On behalf of those complicit in such forms of discrimination, I am deeply sorry for everything and the threat that this continues to pose to you in the most pitifully IQ deficient/third world sense. It breaks my heart in every perceivable sense. How sad. It truly could have been so beautiful 😔 Sincerely. your fading compatriots in the United Kingdom 💔
I am a big fan of St Petersburg but although I love the metro and use it every day, it is beautiful on the #1 Red Line but does not compare the Moscow city center stations. The only problem with the Moscow metro is the sheer mass of people using it that you will run over by the crowds if you stop and admire the stations. Except for rush hour, St Petersburg metros at not crowded so you can usually find a seat. The stations are being added to every year or so but in Moscow, stations open every week. They are both artistic and engineering marvels. The SPb metros are deeper, down 330 feet for some stations. They all have free wi-fi and mobile phone cells own on the platforms than through the tunnels 3 football fields deep.
My 2020 resolution is to Master russian because I've always loved the culture and my family heritage behind it. I am saving my money to be able to visit there during summers and such, maybe one day I could immigrate over there. Is there any tips on helping advancing my russian or possibly helping me learn?
There is one method, that I use everytime, when I start learning a new language - pop music. I can guarantee you, that it WORKS! Not only you will find some new BOPS for your playlist, you will also master your language in weeks! So, I would advise you to check out: - t.A.T.u., a russian fake lesbo duo, known for their hit "All The Things She Said", their first Russian album "200 Po Vstrechnoy" is especially great and reflective of the climate and society of Russia at the time. -Luna, a Ukrainian singer, who sings in Russian and is considered to be the face of the Russian pop-revolution. All of her music is great. It's a mix of retro and soviet aestethics with jazz, trance and techno influences. Check out her albums "Остров Свободы" and "Транс". -Zemfira, the legend of Russian post-soviet music. No words are needed, she is the voice of the generation. Her magnum opus is her sophomore "Прости меня, моя любовь". Don't forget to check out some of Russian classic movies here on YT with subs. My fav is definitely "Москва слезам не верит", though you man not grasp all of the brilliance at first(the movie is very hard to digest without proper knowledge of the intricate details of the "simple soviet life"), the dialogues are great and will be especially helpful to help with your speaking lingvo. Good luck!
I LOVE St Petersburg. I've been there three times now and planning another visit in April. My wife and I plan on retiring in Velikiy Novgorod and will be in St Petersburg frequently. The screen saver on my phone is a picture of my wife from the observation level of St Isaacs. LOL. In the first block of Nevsky Prospect coming from the Admiralty is a Solovaya #1. The food is great there and the prices excellent. Two blocks away, on Bolshaya Morskaya Ulitsa is a Teremok. They have GREAT blini, pelmini and FANTASTIC mead. I'd love to live IN St Petersburg but apartments there can be quite expensive. LOL. Still Veliky Novgorod is beautiful and not terribly far away. Can you get homesick for a place other than where you are from? I certainly feel homesick for Russia.
