Stay connected by clicking the bell 🔔 so you will see when we have the second part to this video released! There will be more discussions and topics shared on our channel surrounding the topic of Life! 🙏🏼 May God Bless you & your family. Wow 🤩 We want to just take the time to thank each and every person who took the time to support, express their opinions and assumptions. It is amazing how technology can bring people of all ages from anywhere in the world together in one space! Thankful to have you here. PSA for those who are offended by the topics mentioned, any video published is by no means meant to offend. It is simply to help people be aware of the true realities that they may encounter and experience. There is not a single place on earth that is perfect, and that’s the beauty in it all. These issues may not be a problem for some people but these are just a tiny handful of concerns that millions of individuals/families worldwide consider before moving to any place. One lifestyle may be considered doable for some and others may beg to differ. There are positives and negatives in every city, state, country and culture. No two households are the same, every person has their own standard, and to each their own on what one will personally tolerate. Lastly, our statements are not just our own experiences but a collective number of locals & expats in Puerto Rico. There are Puerto Ricans who will never return to the island for these very same reasons, there are also foreigners and Puerto Ricans who will gladly return and stay in PR regardless of the cons. Everything all boils down to your preferred lifestyle and what benefits you ultimately receive by your decisions. Experience it for yourself. Own up to your decisions and embrace the circumstances. Every persons path in life is different, have fun and enjoy the moments!

@@lorenzochimelis7359 thanks for your comment. We never said having a degree is a negative. If you lived in PR your whole life than you’d know, whether one has a degree or not, there are issues hence millions and the majority of boricuas living overseas than in PR. The issues we discussed are a direct result for that, and those are just 10 topics.

@@lorenzochimelis7359 if you looked at your past comments you’d see your large concern about our background was answered. If you actually listened to our videos then you’d also know. You’ve commented numerous times so we advise seeing where your question was answered. Again we discuss about PR not another country. If you ACTUALLY live in PR and know what the youth have been dealing with for years, then you’d understand. Boricuas KNOW this issues are present, if you’re boricua and have lived out of the island for years your knowledge of what’s happening is inaccurate.

@@Blueskyz316if you can, pay for the lifestyle in cash if and when you decide to move to PR. There are many homes that may need some love and investment, work with a reputable brokerage / realtor as there are some properties being posted for sale and they are actually illegally built. Also, unless you prefer you your furnishings right now and you take it with you via a container, you can find beautiful furnishings there. Depending on your home layout and design, you will see what fabrics are suited for your home. Food, gas, and vehicles are more than most places due to the fees and taxes in place for shipment and sourcing overseas, so look into your options to see what is required for your home and general necessities. It’s good to consider a rain water system and solar panels for natural disasters. Once you have a rough estimate of those, you can live comfortably with a couple or few thousand per month - more or less will determine your personal lifestyle!

So... no humidity in the southern states?Have you spent summers in NYC? Many public school students have been enrolled in reputable universities in P.R. and U.S., so education must be doing something right...once graduated they are quickly picked up by U.S. recruiters in mainland🤔 So floods, tornadoes, forest fires, hurricanes, earthquakes (SF), winter storms don't occur in U.S.? Allow me to clarify that the Education was great until 2010 It is important to recognize that this comes from government driven mandate Today Puerto Rico has brought the best engineers for NASA, biological and infrastructural Yet there are no opportunity when you graduate However when new leadership and management is in place you are able to have the best of the best to this planet. As any other place when opportunity given you make it To the message of the two individuals remember that today Puerto Rico is going through a displacement 🎙️

Saludos.

Thank you for your comment! There have been grade schools in PR that we’re experiencing this, kids had to literally bring their own hygiene products because the budget is not being accounted for. It’s unfortunate but it’s happened. We know people who work and serve in the public sectors (teachers, police, mayors, etc). With crime, there is a lot that’s not being shared in the media that happens and a lot of crime has been making the local news as well. Illegal weapons and substances are everywhere yes, location is an important factor to consider. Some people may never experience to see crime, but it doesn’t mean that certain things are not happening. Glad that you’re doing safe and sound!

I am very appreciative of your video because you are discouraging a lot of non-Puerto Ricans to consider moving there. I was raised in the Island (born in NY, currently in FL) and I can attest to THE FACT that the American influence has brought it where it is. You guys have to say what you are saying because you know different. You need to travel, you need to listen to USA news and maybe you would not speak of the island that way. US also votes for the same people all the time (educate yourselves on this - in the US it’s called “gerrymandering ”); a lot of natural disasters: fires, drought, tornadoes are occurring in the US ( insurance company’s don’t even want to insurance Floridians- they’re leaving the state); infrastructure in US is also crumbling; water is poison in Flint, Michigan (one of many examples); America is not empathetic to non-English speaking people; no night life? Puerto Ricans party for anything. You are too young to understand the cultural gatherings or enjoy the folkloric music; job opportunities in the US are only available for the educated groups too. Your generation, if not degreed or have a vocation, can only look forward to minimum wage jobs. No med insurance in US equals bad service. I think I made my point. Thank you!

Sheesh! This video is way too negative about relocating to PR! While I never lived there, I have visited at least 7 times, traveling all around the beautiful island, and I stumbled across this video doing my research in consideration of relocating there. Everything you described is no different than the crap that's happening in the US mainland. Have you actually been to all of the cities in PR? Because if you had, you would have found a whole lot of history and Spanish built areas other than that of San Juan. Do you have children, and did they attend school in PR? The education system is probably not as bad as you described everywhere, and there are whole lot of poor education systems on the mainland where students are being pushed through without proper education as well. Organic food? You can't get more organic than growing your own fruits and vegetables in your backyard. I'm pretty sure there's a Wholefoods market on the westside of the island! Corrupt government? Have you paid attention to what's going on in the mainland lately? Corruption is everywhere no matter where you go! Complaining about the DMV? You're obviously not from NYC!🤦🤷🤣 You say that you have a lot more to complain about,...on that note, I feel sorry for you! This is the stuff of misery loves company people! I couldn't finish watching this video due to the level of negativity. Look on the bright side of things, and adjust your way of life. You just might find more positive than negative things to talk about. And trust me, I understand what's it's like to live a difficult life, but I'd rather figure out how to be positive and share my positive experiences than to rain on anyone's parade. I'm going to keep doing my research 'cause I'm much older than you, and my goals are different than yours. This video maybe helpful to a lot of people, but it's definitely lacking a lot of pertinent information. From my experience, albeit before hurricane Maria hit, Puerto Rico is the one place that has made me feel more welcomed and comfortable by its citizens and one of the places where I can have a sense of peace and tranquility with the world.

Thank you for sharing your assumptions and opinions! This video highlights what boricuas and expats who live in island, or have moved out of the island completely and have zero plans of returning have experienced and witnessed as well. Yes there are definitely many other historical sites, it’s bittersweet to learn more about other cultures history and how it all came out and why those sites were built. There are a few wonderful institutions in PR, however many are struggling and have been for years. That is why there are now more boricuas leaving the island, depending on their occupation of study and goals in life in terms of lifestyle. Unfortunately there is very little local organically grown regenerative foods planted, harvested and sold to the public in PR. There’s a lot of GMO foods, farmed seafood, and low quality foods that are sold ridiculously high. Farmers who plant the local produce that’s sold in stores use chemicals. Many families have their own trees of fruits and can harvest, which wonderful - but what we discussed is on a larger scale. Corruption is everywhere definitely, however please note this video highlights things families and individuals consider before planning a move or when researching places they are looking into. Also these reasons are situations boricuas in the island and who have left will also discuss, it’s not complaining it’s discussing the results of politics and the way of life - not just culture.

I don’t know , so many wrong things, yes government sucks, luma and water co. but all I here is everything is bad , cost of living is high, no jobs , friend in Puerto Rico you can survive with a tiny lot , planted with guineos, fruits etc , and you can live a healthy mentality speaking, life! All I hear is how people care more about comfort than freedom, I been most of my life here in USA , I’m old already, my kids almost grown, the cost of living in USA is ridiculous high, yes you have a decent job and salary but seriously Uncle Sam takes your life out of you, we live here like hamsters chasing the money that will never going to have cause it goes to a 400 k home , power, water, taxes , your money is tax it over and over again , at the end we are just weary, overworked and old , working all your life paying social security and 401 k all your life to get $600 a month, I know a lot of puertorican that they said they are poor, not your not , you can go anywhere, anytime nobody says anything, here is restricted, you can’t even go to some natural place cause you need a pass etc , you have a productive land you don’t need to depend on supermarket, people life enclose in four wall , working all your life getting anywhere, and your kids all depressed is not worthy, you puertoricans have everything!

Just prepare the home for future natural disasters like back up generators, a water system etc, the required panels for is and when the time comes another hurricane comes your home won’t have much or any damage. If you would be working from home and just need internet, to see which provider supplies there and see what back up systems they could have if ever. I can give you 100 resent why you shouldn't live in the USA, but I'll top it up in the first one and the #1 is racism. Any property a person buys is not the person, it will always belong to the Government. The rest any one living in the USA can figure it out in every day living. I was born in the USA and 30 years ago I moved to Puerto Rico and my live change to the best. I like to know where this two came out from, but they are not Puertorican.

Thank you for your comment and assumptions! Unfortunately racism is a serious matter still within every culture and country worldwide. And unless someone pays for their belongings in cash, even their home is owned by the banks. Millions of people worldwide actually don’t own their home, as many opt in for many years to pay off the mortgage and don’t have the ability to afford their home in cash. Definitely such an important reason for people to learn about financial freedom and generation wealth!

Definitely nothing in life is for free, a relationship with YHWH is though! 🕊️ With the mention of cheap, we discussed the costs of living, for example food costs in PR are overpriced for the low quality produce. You can find a bag of say chicken wings for about $30-40.00 sometimes more and that chicken is fed GMOs. These matters share what one is to expect. $30-40 for a bag of low quality wings may be expensive for some households and some households that’s like change.

Thank you for your comment! These are not opinions rather a collective matter of topics discussed amongst boricuas and expats who live in PR and who have the left PR. It’s important to help bring such matters to Light as that is the way the island can thrive in the near future, situations don’t fix themselves, problem solvers must step into equation to provide a solution to the issues presented. More boricuas and expats are aware of this, not only ourselves, and PR needs people to move to help the economy stay afloat as boricuas are leaving the island and have zero plans of returning due to the way of the corruption being so heavily present.
@mike2959
@mike2959 Год назад
I feel like reasons 1 and 2 are highly inaccurate. Cost of living is significantly cheaper in P.R. Understand that wages are yes 10%-18% lower. But rent is 30%-40% lower. Gas prices for example are lower than anywhere in the states. Yes. Anywhere. Right now $1.71 in PR- $3.15 in Detroit. And Detroit is one of the least expensive in the states.

Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately many youth (boricuas) are having trouble buying a home, renting is definitely the way many are living in this day and age. Of course good things requires time, effort, and determination however the costs are higher especially in many boricuas lives. The costs and opportunities for advancement are not as large, hence millions of boricuas have left the island and encouraged their children to go overseas. Regarding gas prices, they go by liter so the conversion will need to be done but it’s not $1+ or less than $1, it’s definitely more than that.

Average income in PR is Lower than the poorest state in the US thus making it hard to compete with continental folks moving here. The new tax law for outside investors only benefit foreigners and political parties not the local citizens. Government doesn’t know how to manage the money tax its citizens while the money from the US is lost in government corruption and bureaucracy. Thus we are tax for paying for the past traditional debt we are in today thanks to them. The government is in bankruptcy and miss handling people retirement. We have to pay for a bankrupt electric company appointed by the government plus the 71 billion public debt.

Accurate video. Guys your time has value and there are opportunity of costs of going to sit on that island. The infrastructure is poor, public transport is non existent and we had power outages 5 times a week. The cost of food and services mirrors NYC, the taxation of ordinary wages is high and it’s rife with corruption. Unless you speak Spanish and can fully integrate with Spanish/ Latin American culture I not recommend this island to wealthy Americans unless they have obscene wealth and can shell out 3m for a place in dorado knowing they may lose on that investment. I also do not think the tax incentive programs are particularly fair to the locals who are being priced out in a new dystopian. They themselves deserve to live fairly. These incentive programs only benefit the corrupt government who has made it a national sport to steal over the last decades, old people who have sat in their properties minimally investing into it and the sleazy real estate agents on that Island.

Thank you for your comment! Yes we know the quality of food that’s supplied to majority of the island is poor gmo. We know as we worked with the agricultural aspect and partnered with the mayor to help educate locals on nutrient dense food, the community of regenerative farmers is few and cannot supply for the mass. Farmers markets do not have a diverse selection of goods that one can actually receive all the nutrients needed. The system is not as supportive and focused on the well-being rather budget costs and profits.

@@RL-rh8zfthat is amazing! We had a farm in PR and supplied food locally on the east coast, and had projects with the city. Depending on your location and approach to building relationships with your community it can be successful! Many locals miss locally grown food that’s quality, if your costs will be less than what’s sold in stores that is great! Schools, many locals and expats had issues with public and private institutions, make sure to do tours and learn from your community what they do for their children. Many expats start their kids with home schooling as it’ll be a better transition before making a decision.

Thanks for commenting! Despite your opinion being worthless we appreciate your effort. We were actually living wonderfully in PR, while running our business which helped the PR community in the East. The issues mentioned impact boricuas more than anything, so if shedding light on matters regarding politics negatively impact your judgement against us, look and listen to the boricuas both the elderly and youth who are dealing with these and MORE daily.

Yes, with any relocation so important to have one’s finances sorted. Thankfully we had our own business in PR so those concerns hadn’t affected us.

You guys have a campaign against Puerto Rico. If you hate it so much, just stay away from the island. But don't come here bashing our culture. It's sad to see you guys talking like it is the worst place to live. There's more expensive places to live here in the States. Just do us a favor and stay right where you at and please quit talking down on us.

Well if all else fails i can always move to Ukraine or Russia and become a P.O.W. if P.R. is that bad? P.R. sounds like Georgia or Florida here in thee states it cain't be that bad it's what we make it Amen.

The one thing that I have noticed is that PR is a jewel and naturally a beautiful Island in the Caribbean. And also that Americans from PR and the ones that live there are proud of their Island, Culture and history, and rightly so. But yet, most of all, I noticed all the litter, filth and garbage all over much of the island. What is that all about? I wld be embarrassed. WHAT GIVES? We wld volunteer to clean up, get it all nice, and than in 2 days, we wld go bk, and there wld be litter all over the place again.

Una pregunta, I'm retiring in a few years can I live off of 35 to $4,000 a month there no I'm not looking for a big house.. just something practical for me
@TheBritoFamily

There are many homes for sales, some with more or less renovating required, if not, many options for rent. $3,500-$4,000 a month can be more than enough to enjoy, of course it all depends on your lifestyle.

I agree on some things but say as many negative things as they got out of hand. Many states in the U.S. where you are from, they are looking for students to recruit them in different important places, so do not generalize. If they had a bad experience, what are they waiting for to go to their beloved country, which I am sure will be wonderful for them. Good luck.

Thank you for your comment! If you mean companies in the USA are recruiting people in PR to work for them, contractors, it’s because of lower cost for the company. It’s great for people who get hired but the reality is being paid for less than what the company normally pays in their HQ. What we spoke about is not just our experience but so many local boricuas and boricuas who have left the island also know these for a fact - they are serious situations that must be discussed and brought to Light. We live in a dark world and unless the blindfolds come off, the cycle of deceit and corruption will continue in such areas.

Thank you for your opinion and assumption! This video discusses a few matters people with children or simply individuals consider when moving - anywhere in the world. Success is definitely not impacted by these reasons shared in the video, however these reasons are very important to shed light on for those who have zero idea of the realities behind the islands beauty. Glad to know your kid is doing well!

Thank you for your comment! We understand no single place on earth is perfect, however when someone is researching a place to move these are just a few things millions of individuals consider, prepare for and are looking to know more about. Definitely many states and countries still are behind with technology.

Wrong, Puerto Rico is not like any state. It's a colony. I'm from Puerto Rico, the people living in D.C. aren't paying extra tariffs because of the Jones Act. Hello.

Chicos con todo respeto. Soy puertorriqueña y de verdad me avergüenzo de que tú seas puertorriqueño. Si conoces de gobierno, en la isla no reciben los mismos beneficios que USA. Si no hablas español. Niño como pretendes. Obligado tienes que hablar español (hello). Yo voy al DMV RI you have appointment y todavía tienes que esperar 3 y cuatro horas. No puedes comparar la 🌴 porque después de las tormentas muchos educadores, Dr. Ingenieros se fueron a US. Estás equivocado hay mucha gente que tiene AC en toda la casa. No se donde fueron. Hello is the trópico. So no se …hablas. US you still need to used a mask to go to the Dr, public building. So I don’t understand what are you …

Yes, in the USA the government is federal and local, there’s a lot of influence with the local politicians and voters - hence why some locations are preferred for some and others not. (Just like anywhere else in the world). Yes I’m learning Spanish, and it’s technically my third language to immerse myself in. Thankfully I can communicate and have discussions with local boricuas with the little Spanish I know. It’s great to know more than one language right! Yes, many homes do have AC in PR and many household also do not have AC. We know people who live in the island - everywhere. Old and young. Many households in PR don’t have the funds to afford or ability to have solar panels or a good water system. Yes again, some people do but not everyone. It’s growing on many which is wonderful! I actually grew up and am well traveled and have experienced and witnessed different living situations, however I have come to understand not everyone has access to certain amenities and resources - and that’s okay. This video is to help inform and educate people who are considering PR, whether an individual or a family with children and they have to plan long term. It’s important to bring these topics up for discussion as these are just a small number of what people look for and consider.
