@@jarmbrister23 I googled a lot as my main focus was to relocate to a majority Black area. I also found a realtor and came for a weekend to see the different areas. Dallas was nice but the suburbs appealed to me more. And by 'research', I mean all up in the comments of an article to see what the real is lol!
Yes girl I recently moved to Houston from DC(which I lived for 2 years before that I was in Savannah) but than the pandemic started so I’m hoping I made the right choice.
I stay in Desoto Texas now. Definitely on its way to being the next black Wall Street. I encourage our people to keep flooding this area. Bought a house here when I was 22. I’m now 26
@@Localahhkenn go up north and do what? I live in NYC and I live in the most segregated city in NYC. Staten Island, also known as the Mississippi of the North. I am just itching to get out
Look at how well we do as a people when we live around each other with no outside influences. We can have communities like this anywhere. I loved this so much. Keep these videos coming.
I am a resident of Desoto and own a business in Lancaster. The problem we run into with these communities is that the majority of the black people that live there and make up the most wealth in the community do not actually work there. Typically, the professional people are driving miles to work either to downtown Dallas or even further. I first noticed this when I myself had to commute the 37 miles one-way to Plano everyday for a consulting role. All the traffic flowed to the north in the mornings and to the south in the afternoons. There aren't many black owned businesses in these communities that are employing people in numbers. Also, we typically don't own much land in these communities. That's not always completely our fault though - "they" don't like to sell to us. I've tried to buy a few different properties in my area only to be either hung up on or lied to. Still, in order for us to hold a true stake in the game and really call these "black communites", we'll need to own some of that land. Community investing needs to be our next step
Being a Texas Realtor in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex!!! Texas is the Place to Be!! What a blessing to see one of my relatives in the Mesquite, Texas video!!
#SALUTE.....My aunt is the mayor of Desoto..the first AfricanAmerican woman to do so...have seen Desoto really change since the 80's.....basically grew up there...
My husband and I just moved here from DC area. What a beautiful place and I miss it but we quickly picked up and moved here to Dallas due to my health problems and I have my family here to help me. He already found a great job working remotely in ux design and we are in a safe area. My daughter was being bullied constantly in DC due to the color of her skin and had no friends. It was stressful and we always struggled with finances too. Now a year later my daughter is happier and has many friends, good neighborhood. We don’t have to stay down, we can do better. Blessings!
If you wanna live in a strong black community just live in the best southwest . Schools have plenty of resources and some of the best sports. Cities are super safe. Jobs are plenty. Housing is superb. What more could you ask for ? These communities are so welcoming. •DeSoto •Lancaster •Cedar Hill •Duncanville •Glenn Heights •Red oak -Also so many successful black businesses owners in these suburban cities.
It is time that we black people start coming together and start buying out lands so that we can start our own black communities and neighborhoods so that we can start building and empowering ourselves.
@@abelgonzales3695 well if you say that's racist, your going to have to include Little Italy, in New York, Chinatown, East La, which is a all Hispanic Community, Little Saigon, Little India, Little Bangladesh and the list goes on!!! So are these people racist because they want to live amongst there own people??? So Abel Gonzales you are saying Black Americans are racist because they want to live amongst there own people??? I don't think so!!!
Awesome! My family resides in 75115, Desoto. I’ve recently relocated to the area and my son is apart of the school district. I’m inspired to be in the vicinity of these great minds. Great minds create wealth!
I am loving this video! As a resident of Katy, TX (77494) this really caught my attention. I am very close to and have interest in Richmond and Missouri City, TX now.
I am from the DFW area and I'm an educator. Do your research on Desoto ISD before you make that move. The Community is beautiful but there are real challenges with the school district. Doesn't mean it cannot improve but know what you're getting into.
KM Hearts My cousin lives & works in DeSoto & loves it! He is a basketball coach/teacher at a DeSoto ISD high school. I’ve only heard great things about the area! There’s also a hospital in DeSoto.
I’m in Richmond and everything said is true! Everyone wants to move to this area. Beautiful homes, lots of shopping centers, nice eateries and much more.
As someone that moved to Texas from the East Coast, I will say there are pros and cons in every area mentioned. To me, the main con is traffic. The people I know that live in those areas have a 45 min.- 1 hour commute time to get to work every day (not so much so in Ft. Worth). Rest assured, the commute is not fun! Texas drivers are challenged and its good to say a daily prayer when getting on the main highways every morning and evening. In addition, most of the "Southern Tier" cities mentioned near Dallas have those large populations of Blacks because they never move! They and their families have lived ONLY there. While people say they are welcoming, I will tell you ... it's not that simple. Anyone that wants to move here I highly recommend they move as close as they can to where they work. I live next door to Mesquite in a very new community and am quite content. Mainly, because most of the residents are from other cities. Good luck, everyone!
I’m relocating from South Jersey & I came to this channel. First y’all convinced me of Prince George’s County, MD, now I’m torn🙁🙁 Texas might’ve won my heart
I grew up in Beaumont in the 70’s and 80’s. My neighborhood or subdivision was all African American with high income. It was a rare neighborhood with black doctors, lawyers, teachers, refinery worker, preacher and entrepreneur. It was called Fleetwood Edition and my family was the first to built in the subdivision in 1969. It was great growing up there, I knew all the neighbors. I didn’t have to worry about being attacked or robbed. Both my parents have past, but still visit the neighborhood when in Beaumont. It’s still doing ok. I cherish the memories.
Absolutely brilliant video, thank you for informing us in the UK about Black Excellence in Texas...we have 30+ children in our public high schools! My eyes are wide open now 🤩🤩🤩
Just so you know the great Southwest consists of Lancaster , DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville you can take beltline Rd and reach all these cities and they all great shopping areas and entertaining
@@camcneiljr it is alot cheaper on the southern side of town also. I had to drive from Lancaster to my job over at 190 and Jupiter road everyday cause I couldn't afford to stay in Plano.
I'm not surprised i lived in DeSoto for 14 years and I go back all the time (my parents still stay there). The houses on pleasant run have some really rich people living there. School is always improving and we will run it back for another state title in football one day.
I'm thankful the new superintendent stopped all that mess with school board members embezzling money. I just wish they didn't have to shut down northside. That's the elementary school I went to when I moved to desoto from dallas
In the wake of recent events, we black need to pull together, strengthen our shared identity, culture, colour and faith. We need to celebrate ourselves and help one another climb to success.
I just saw this video, Thank you for this. I am originally from NJ, born and raised, however my parents moved to Texas due to my dad's job (he was an engineer). You never realize when your younger what your parents do for you, and your future. We moved so many times in Texas, until my parents bought their home, which was in Cedar Hill, TX, at the time growing up in Cedar Hill, no one knew where that was, so you always had to say...right outside of Dallas, Lol!!! I graduated from CHHS (🤘 Go Longhorns) and made so many great friends, that I consider family. My brother decided to stay, and he lives in Ft. Worth. We are buying a home in FL, but if i had a choice, i would have chosen Cedar Hill, TX to raise my children. I have grown to love Texas so much, and I would do it all over again (make a few personal changes, Lol!!), but it made me, me right!! Not a Cowboys fan though, Lol!!
I’ve been thinking a lot about relocating to Dallas but all this time, everyone been talking about Frisco, Addison, Plano, McKinney etc. Now I feel like I’ve been researching the wrong areas 😩
I live in Dallas ( all my life) and Frisco is the most impressive place we have in Dallas area. Mainly all new homes, buildings, and beautiful huge mansions! If I win the lottery, that’s where I’m going!
I was considering moving to the woodlands... I'm in spring Branch right now. The school my daughter attends is the only reason I'd stay but it's sooooo crowded!!
These class sizes!! 😍😍😍 currently teaching 22 2nd graders in Texas. Due to most being online at the beginning of the year, I started off with 14. It is a HUGE difference now that all are back in school. Lower class sizes allow teachers to focus on students' individual needs. This is most likely the reason for such high achievement rates in these communities.
My in-laws live in Mo-City (Missouri City Tx), it is very nice, there are a lot of African Americans that live there and other people of color, I love it!
I live in California and i heard of the dallas and houston suburbs. So i went out there to check all of them out. Let me tell you, i have never seen a all african american city of atleast 75% of our color and living well with well manicured lawns, mansions, home ownership, black own businesses, and so many professional african americans in my life until i went to desoto. Now i am in the process of closing on a brand new home almost 5k sq footage. I cannot forget you get your bang for your buck in texas as cost of living is waayy lower than California so the home im purchasing the size and area i could not ever own anything close to it where i live. In these comments i see a lot of individuals say this and that about desoto because they live there. If you were born outside of an african american city you will see how us Californians and anyone feel about wanting to come to a city where our ppl are. My kids have been called the N words several times, and family have been looked over for jobs because they dont speak fluent spanish. So by all means our perspectives will be totally different from your perspective as we see things in the light of what you see on tv as our people Are really out here getting killed and abused by not just the police but by neighbors and store owners and etc because we dont have our own living close by and looking out for each other like we did in the 60,70, and 80’s.
Great video. I am from the Humble(northeast houston) area (H is silent) we are closer to The Woodlands. However, Richmond is closer to Sugarland area (far southwest houston) Fresno and 77053 are both basically the same area.
My grandparents were from Fort Bend County. I had always visited Richmond, Texas a lot. I am surprised that Pearland and Manvel haven't been mentioned.
These are "black" communities I supposed. Pearland and Manvel and parts of Missouri City (Sienna, Riverstone, Lake Olympia) are more diverse than anything. But there also a lot of black people. I live in Sienna and there's a ton of us there, but its also very diverse. Guessing that's why 77053 and 77489 are mentioned....they're right on the outskirts of the more blended communities. I grew up in 77489, and my HS (Willowridge) was in 77053, and its NOTHING like it was when I lived there.
I've only been to Cedar Hill but been wanting to move to Desoto! Thank you for making this list! Could you do a list of black owned tech companies please? I'm hoping for a Web Development career when I can move out there.
I am a young black professional, and I live in a new luxury master planned community here in Humble, Tx. It is so amazing to see my black people doing well.
There's not really a lot of Black people that actually reside in Frisco like that and you do not get that much bang for your buck. However, Frisco has a great job market for healthcare and tech. It is in close proximity to some large corporations like Chrysler and it's only a few minutes down the tollway from Dallas.
I live in allen another affluent are by Frisco. I'm getting the heck out of here this year, after 9 years. Safe, pretty, good public schools... but I need more... of my own culture and less southern, less pretentiousness.... Raised here in dfw(texas), and lived in Desoto for 15 year before moving to Allen tx.
@@skyychase2132 That's actually not correct. The 'h' is not pronounced in the word 'honour'. (I am not American so I spell honour with the British spelling). Re Humble the place- it is always reasonable to defer to the pronunciation of the residents of the place itself.
I wish this video would have been posted six years ago when I moved to Texas. Nevertheless, I'm grateful to have found it. It's important that we live where our people are because my children have experienced extreme levels of racism and discrimination where we live now.
I won't lie Dallas is jam packed, but not near as packed as Austin or something. Austin is packed and they don't have enough space to really expand. Dallas was at least big enough to handle this to some extent. I'm from a small town called Texarkana, but I live in DFW now. It's pretty nice.
I'm from Fort Worth - I'm familiar with the area mentioned - however - all of the things she mentioned "to do" In that area are still white owned - black folks are just migrating to "better areas" In the city - but we don't own anything in the communities.
Houston Tx. Baby!!! I’m 42 yrs and lived here all of my life. I told people for many years to stop sleeping on Texas, we do NOT ride horses to school 🤣😂🤦🏽. Now that the cost of living has increased-$200k homes are the new $400k and worth every penny. I LOVE MY CITY, ITS BEAUTIFUL and VERY DIVERSE! And regardless if it’s predominantly black or not, you will live WELL!! Although I’m proud that we still have SOMETHING that is full of US🥰
I live in Richmond. Oil and gas supports a lot of familys out here. Now that oil has dropped off the chart, Its going to be interesting to see who can hold on to their homes. Great area though.
Idk why I’m looking at this... I’m from Frisco Tx... moved to NYC... oh boy I can’t wait to move back to Texas. But I want to move to H-town. Or back to DFW. I was always in DeSoto, Cedar Hill and Lancaster area.
...yep 'they' are still persecuting the poor, 'they' are still murdering the prophets! The city of ft. worth(police) abducted my wife and 4 children(while I was incarcerated)and 'chipped' them all with the mindcontrol chip.my wife was rapped by the hi ranking inmates in the jail.i was also probed.all of this just because I didnt bow down to the 'illuminati'.I'm now a targeted individual, and the voices that I hear in my head(everyday) are the high ranking inmates(youngsters),the witch, and the demon that kept trying to get me to play a 'game'to win my family members back. Now the most high God has plagued the earth with Corona and all I say is "BLAME FT. WORTH TX!" Peace and love
Interesting, I'm from DeSoto Tx. My family moved to Desoto in 1986. Me and my brother were the only two black kids in school. Then other black families start moving in from the Dallas area. So in the mid-90s white families began to take what is known as the white-flight. This is where many of the white families moved to areas like Frisco, Addison, Carrollton, and mostly out the South Dallas County area.
Graduating with my masters soon and Dallas and Austin is where I am debating living. Austin's only advantage is that one of the companies I want to work for is based there. The fact that it didn't make this list adds more reasons for me to pick Dallas.
Wow Richmond is number one?! I'm already here. I live in the twin cities Richmond-Rosenberg. My daughter goes to Terry high and has been to prestigious charter schools but chose Terry to graduate from. And my daughter is a medical student. National honors society and all. I guess we're right where we need to be🥰
What was you favorite location and why please? I’ve loved in Houston Tx all of my life. Our daughter is graduating from UT AUSTIN this coming May and we are downsizing from a 5 bedroom in Spring Tx.
Thank y’all for this I’ve been looking at Texas for a long time for me and my family and this video has given me even more information and a deeper insight and I am loving the black excellence 💪🏾
Little Elm is nice and the Frisco area as well. It is alot more affordable than the Bay Area in California. Affordable homes in many areas all around Dallas , Houston and San Antonio.
Wow, I love it i didn't know all this before i saw this video i was already looking to move to Houston from Chicago, I'm working on moving this summer, ready to Network!!!
I would love to hear someone's feedback... My 4-year-old, 3-month-old, and I are looking for a place to call home. We love the community/excellence feel of Cedar Hill, the modern feel of Plano TX, and the beauty of Las Colinas. We are looking for a diverse suburb with a modern feel similar to Las Colinas. Any suggestions?
Check out Allen and Frisco TX! Great diverse cities with excellent school districts. If you’re looking for a majority black community these cities may not satisfy you. However, if you’re looking for a diverse balance, then you’ll find it in both places.
@Black Excellence my sister i really appreciate you making this video. I also wanna ty from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to respond to my comment. I always look forward to inspirational videos from Black Excellence.. Bless you Black Excellence!!! . P.S. Humble, TX is my old residence
I'm born and raised in Sugarland/Missouri City/Houston... All I can say is as a black man you will be harassed by Police like you're in the old South. I'm preparing to leave my "affluent" area right now cause of that. I dress normal , am a full time real estate investor and can't seem to have peace from the Police in my own community. Missouri City Police have harassed black citizens forever. I rather live in peace than be stopped 4 times in 30 days all with no reason or ticket , all within a mile of my $300k house... Do not move to Houston Texas if you are black and have money, I'd recommend anywhere else where you don't have to get stopped on your way home from Bible study for being black! When the cops stop black people Missouri City it's like a mini interrogation. They have treated my Mom and sister like this as well. Stay away from Missouri City my good black folks!
@@chuckp376 Religon has nothing to do with it OP could be atheist and still get harassed. it's our system & the history of our skin color. Sounds like you're finding/making excuses for the white man.
Isn't it enough Black folks in Missouri City to stop this?? Why let them push you out of a good community, how about you mobilize and push the racist cops out of your community. Don't sit back and take their abuse. If you have money that means you have leverage, change your mindset.
