I have been on the fence about purchasing the X / Xm because in my past the Roland boards have always been so difficult to understand. But listening to these patches has me seeing if there are enough RU-vid channels I can watch to learn the board. Being an old guy with A.D.D. I have the attention span of a gnat...the good side of that is I get hyper focused on things that interest me... man, I love the sounds of this thing...it is a beast! Nice video! One of my current favorites is PA182 “Who are you?” which doesn’t appear to be available in Cloud Zenology PRST_A (factory presets) bank. I also really like G Point Bass and Wire Stack from SDZ004 Hyperwave by Gattobus
Love this selection! About the Big Bite Pluck I thought the same: this sounds like Stranger Things! (we have a tone called "stranger synth" too and sounds pretty much like the ST main theme synth, you just have to turn on the Arp and open and close the filter cutoff and voilà. I think is part of the original sounds of the X but I might be wrong and maybe I got it from a sound expansion). 80s AmbientGtr sounds like the sampled guitar used on the Twin Peaks soundtrack by Badalamenti. I don't have a favorite yet because my X is pretty new and I haven't time to check every single tone, but I'll do and post here my favorites soon :)
This had come nice patches I hadn't checked out that I have access to on my MC-707, even with just the base Zen Core engine there's almost an over abundance of patches included to the point where months into owning a MC-707 I still have not actually checked out every one of the default patches let alone the 50 or so Zen Core sound packs I have. Zen Core on the whole is a seriously impressive engine and there's talk that Roland is far from done enhancing and adding features to the engine. Seriously impressed with this little box so far even if patching isn't the most enjoyable thing to do on it, but hey I expect that from Roland I've dealt with enough of their synths I know it's part of the trade off you make with their boxes is you get a really powerful synth engine but my lord can patching quickly degrade into menu diving purgatory on basically any model when you get into some of the really advance stuff like tweaking per oscillator envelopes.
JP 066Tight bass sounds great with a step sequencer. I turn up the mfx (fattened default) and add some delay. My band covers Animotion’s Obsession and this tone kills it.
Love the warm Juno 106 soft pwm Pad… reminds me of old days, when I once owned a Juno :) and by the way, what is your favourite watch, to wear while you play synth 😀😊
Thank you for your video, now I want to buy the Jup X even more😍 though I have not the money for now, what do you think about the deepmind 12 ? I'm thinking on getting one and later reselling it (or keeping it if I fall in love with it) for a jupiter X.
If you look closely at 12:10 , I’ve got a Tone on Part 3, but at just the right moment, I switch the Tone to one I put right next to it. That’s how I get 5 Tones + drums into one performance. You can do the same with your DAW, and probably automate the program change. The only real limit is going to be 4 Tones at any single time
I have a JD-Xi for the same supernatural synth tones, and a System-8 for its great native synth and plugouts. But my Xm in this video has been my “go to” synth for over a year now. I love having all three.
Click the menu button, scroll down to System and hit enter, press the right arrow button 5 times, and in that menu (system color set) change anything that has a label of (b) next to the color letting to just a color. So W(b) means white blinking. Change it to W so it’s just solid white - no blink.
What is this obsession with analog sounds? Analog sounds always sound so dull and dated. I know synth snobs swear that analog is the one and only way, but I beg to differ. It just comes off like some snobbish bs someone came up with and it caught on like wildfire. There can't be that many people hell-bent determined to remain sonically stuck in the 70s and 80s.
