Batman: Why do you wanna kill me?? Joker after a maniacal laugh: I don't wanna kill you...what would I do without you...?? This damn line makes Joker stand above all the villains.. he's not a villain but one of the greatest fictional characters ever created..
I'll always love heath ledgers version probably the most because imo he just personifies what the joker is so well. At least when it comes to live action. Any villian can commit mass murder or rob a bank. But his version of joker basically is quite literally the physical version of what chaos would actually be. Also heath committed literally everything to that role.
He's a good villain but calm down there are many characters more fleshed out and better developed than him not the best thing ever made bruh read some fiction pal
7:17 - Every. Single. audience watching Joker collectively breathed a deafening sigh of relief at that moment, I was there for one of them, held my breath the whole time until he let him go!
@@lickenhuntsman5338 black canary is in the birds of prey, but no one seem to care; I assume dceu is going to introduce green latern, and its going to be hype. But they need to really nail it in order to recover from the failure of the last one; I think they are saving Brainiac to be the villain for the next JL movie, if there's ever going to be one lol
I disagree about Phoenix we dont even know if he is the real joker and not just some guy who inspires someone to be joker like in gotham. he played a good part but be honest the film could have esaily just been a normal film unrelated to the comics
@@porunga1615 than maybe we are saying the same thing. Him being the Joker or not is not the point of the movie, which only wanted to criticize a particular problem in society.
I feel like Robin's corruption from the batman beyond movie should've taken the spot of the mask of the phantasm laugh. I mean he freaking tortures the kid, versus him just laughing? Other than that I agree with the list.
I don't know. I was a single-digits kid when Phantasm came out and that scene has stuck with me ever since because that laugh is so haunting. I'm 35 now and it still gets me.
1) I want to watch the World burn from The Dark Knight. 2) You can call me The Joker 3) Send in The Clowns 4) The Joker comes back in Batman Beyond Return of the Joker taking over Tim Drake's body was a nice Jekyll and Hyde moment.
I honestly didnt...robert de niro such a big actor. And joker admired murray...until he made fun of him. Oops sry being on the list yes i agree. I thought you said you knew joker was gonna kill murray.
Actually, I didn't think that was so much scary as it was...awkward. It's a basically voyeuristic scene, but not for its horror elements. You're feeling the vicarious dread of people getting embarrassed by their OWN voyeurism. Because the show's cast and crew are at first too confused by the Joker's behavior to be terrified - and they know they should really turn off the camera right there and quickly have their guest arrested, but they're just too fascinated by the horrific irony of the scene. Not to mention that the Joker confessing to a triple murder fairly early in the interview, then getting progressively sillier before shifting to "righteous" rage during the last possible moments - well, it's pretty much a form of sadistic wish-fulfillment porn. (Let's face it: given the fact that Murray had inadvertently crushed Arthur's dreams, you knew he was going to die.)
I like Ledger's Joker as much as the next guy, but the only thing I don't like about him is that he doesn't have the sense of humor as say Nicholson or Hamill.
The Joker police car ride after the escape in the Dark Knight. The way he takes in the moment of a perfect plan coming together and soaks in the chaos, no siren noise, no music. It's chilling.
That would've definitely made the list, but the list is only Joker moments in media. Besides, that Joker is scarier than any of the ones in the video and most Joker interpretations in the comics.

the Joker is one of the scariest villains ever and one of the greatest villains ever in my Top 10 favorite villains because he’s one of the scariest and most nightmarish
The scene where the Joker played a home movie about torturing Tim Drake into insanity from Batman Beyond return of the Joker was definitely worthy of this list. I played that scene for my mom to show her the differences of animation in the 90’s vs today; and she was visibly shaken after seeing it. The horror effect was spot on
So soooo wrong to have the Interrogation scene from The Dark Knight as an “Honorable Mention” only, the scene is iconic and deeply dark. It says so much about Heath Ledger’s Joker.
I thought the botched surgery scene from Batman (1989) was pretty eerie. Especially with the horror-esque music. Surprised it didnt even get an honorable mention. Also the Joker dressed as a cop scene in The Dark Knight was pretty intense
Joker is always Joker. He kills, he's crazy, He always laughs alot in a terrifying way, and the most terrifying villain in the world and the most fantastic villain.
Mask of the Phantasm is such an underrated movie, holy _shit._ That scene has stuck with me every since I was, like, 9 years old when I saw the movie in theaters. Some of Mark Hamill's finest Joker work for sure.
Cameron Monahan is one of the best Jokers ever! He's so underrated, and one of my fave Jokers. He didn't deserve to die in Gotham (twice as Jerome, again as Jeremiah 🙄) Also, Jerome visiting Lee Thompson in season 3 of Gotham should have been on this list
You guys missed out on the scene in the Return of Joker in Batman Beyond, where he tells Bruce how he turned Tim Drake in Joker Jr. That part still gives me chills on how maniacal Mark Hamill's voice got while describing it. Then bursts out into laughter. It was a very memorable moment.
#3 should have been Nicholson’s Joker talking to a corpse, snapping his victim’s neck, and then laughs hysterically in the victim’s face! How could you leave that one off!?
Heath Ledger is still the scariest most disturbing joker because it shows how he can 1. Be a homicidal maniac and 2. A Psychopath when he is doing the interrogation scene with the fake batman. Also how he just jumps onto batman and starts making weird noises during the "hit me!" Scene. How heath actually made bale punch him and throw him around something Phoenix would never do hes too much of a snowflake in real life
Snowflake in real life? Dude, actors' job is to act! How can you say so if he never did such a scene? And he killed his boss in cold blood, what snowflake are you talking about?
Cameron did a incredible job in the confession scene, the writing for Gotham got worse as the show went on but Jerome was a stand out character which is why they couldn’t keep him off the show
In regards to Joker's "last laugh" in Mask of the Phantasm, I found a theory that truly blew my mind: The World of the Future fair is a symbol of Bruce and Andrea's relationship. In the flashback, it shows promise and optimism. In the present, when Andrea returns, it's abandoned but still shows some life. At the climax of the film, when Andrea fully gives in to vengeance, it is destroyed forever. It's something to think about that, in that sense, the Joker is laughing at how great a punchline their relationship was--it truly went out with a bang. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
I still have the jerome scene as my number 1 joker scene. Honestly that scene is phenomenal. Then season 2 does that amazing gun roulette scene. Such a good show. Wasn't a fan of watch mojo saying he outshined the others when this show has the greatest penguin and riddler of all time
Top two Joker moments that legitimately scared me were one: Batman where he throws a feather into a guy's neck and Two: The Dark Knight right before he does the pencil trick.
"Fleck feels great about the encounter"? Huh? The dance represents his inner turmoil - inner states being manifested through outer movement - which is clearly not "feeling great". Come on now.
I think Jason's torture in the Arkham games (I forgot which one) is one of the scariest Joker moments ever. As well as Joker turning Tim into a mini-Joker in Return of the Joker, it scarred me so much as a kid.
Blue light or not... You have to understand the time & attention to detail used on a big ticket film like this... Very rarely is there anything hidden that you discover in them, that’s in there by accident. He’s right. The Joker we have come to know where’s purple. Well, this guy wears red all film. But in that brief moment, which is kind of the final act in a full Joker transformation for Arthur... Do you think it’s really a coincidence that seconds later he looks like he’s in all purple??? No man, it’s not. It’s Todd Phillips reaffirming that there is no more Arthur now, only Joker (in ravishing purple)... Just another brilliant touch by the still underrated Phillips.
#2 on this list terrified me the most, the first time I saw the film as a kid back in 2008, this scene popped up and it terrified the shit out of me. What made this even more horrifying was the guy screaming at the end of the scene, and it still kinda creeps me out 12 years later.
This "number 1", I believe that in 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns(animation movie)', there's a scene where the Joker kills everyone on a live show and it's more scary. In 'Batman: Under the Red Hood', he kills with a CUP OF WATER eating chips and without losing his elegance, also burns people alive in a truck. But Leto is the scariest! It was so frightening that he was forbidden to repeat the role kkkk
The dark night returns 2 had a scarier death scene when joker killed his doctor with a complimentary cup and then killing the host and the audience with laughing gas as everyones faces contort into bloody smiles
Me being a marvel fan I agree totally but I gotta say carnage is a pretty scary marvel villan so is Thanos and maybe Loki a bit but still Joker scares me the most out of all of the villans
In live-action he did get darker with age for the most part because he started out as Cesar Romero's harmless prankster/thief and then became a homicidal prankster played by Jack Nicholson and then became more and more violent in the movies and TV shows. In the comics on the other hand, he started out as a psychopathic killer then turned into a harmless prankster/thief during the 50s and 60s and then went back to being a psychopathic killer, but just as violent as when he made his debut.
Metroplex Grimlock that’s not true actually, it’s a rumor that the role had anything to due with his death. He was already addicted to the drugs he overdosed on drugs his sister confirmed he’s had an issue with long before the joker role. And he was apparently lovely on set, very sand when he needed to be. Rip to this legend, but the role didn’t cause his downfall luckily
There should be another top ten Scariest Joker moments that includes Batman Embracing The Joker and going crazy via hallucinations from Arkham Knight, Joker’s last laugh from Arkham City, Jeremiah Blowing up the Clock tower from gotham and the Talk show scene from Batman the Dark Knight returns, Torturing Jason Todd from Batman Under the red hood, Joker killing Black Mask’s crew from Batman Under the red hood, Jerome playing Russian Roulette from Gotham, Joker almost Burning black mask and his crew alive from Batman Under the Red hood and “you wouldn’t get it” from Joker
I think after watching The Killing Joke and Under the Red Hood, I just can't ever see Joker the same way. Of course, there's that thing he does in batman beyond...
To me, the scene where the joker electrocutes a man and says, "I'm glad you're dead" in the Batman movie from 1989 and leaves him as a skeleton. That was really scary for me as a kid.
Throw in my vote that Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker should've been mentioned at least. So of Mark Hamil's Joker most chilling work is on there. 1)Torturing and breaking Tim Drake 2) Telling the Jokers how they did things back in his day. 3) How cold and deranged his voice got when Terry was getting under his skin at the end of the movie.
Hell yeah for including the Last Laugh. That's the first thing I thought and honestly #1 for me. But not including Tim Drake's brainwashing from Return of the Joker is criminal.
Getting trapped in "Joker's cell" in Arkham VR should have been on this list. When you experience something like that from a first-person perspective, it really hits you.
