+MiaMeow I've been a big fan of horror for nearly 40 years, yet didn't bother finish Pan's Labyrinth. I thought it was dreadfully boring. And that monster with the eyes on the palms? Creepy when you initially see it, but it quickly stop making any kind of sense. If it has the eyes on the palm of its hands, how is it supposed to do anything else with the hands, without going blind? I laughed at it, and can't help think how stupid it really is. Eyes on the head would make a lot more sense, and be much scarier, imho. "I''m so gonna kill you now! Grrr, I'm a monster! Bwahahaha" "Dude, I'm over here." Lol.
Sir. Srly - It's not THAT sad. Ofelia gets back to her underworld family and the villain gets killed. The only sad bit is that she can never see the humans she liked again It's bittersweet.

+MaddCat Same for me :D Insidious was horrible for me. But I found the sound particularly disturbing, especially because it was way too loud in the cinema. Also, the creepy smile of that porcelain girl with the shotgun. Still creeps me out! :O
I never found Pennywise scary. I mean, it's Tim Curry. The man is naturally hilarious. even when he's not trying to be. Their over-the-top reactions to his fucking with them is hilarious. I think that there were some scenes he wasn't even SUPPOSED to be in, but decided to anyway to see how many people he could piss off.
NattieChristopher I really do hope that he get's better. He's brought so much joy into our lives. We've lost David Bowie & Alan Rickman this year alone. I don't know if I could handle losing Tim Curry
+Matthew Peters That movie was less scary than deeply disturbing. I couldn't follow a lot of what was going on, only that I wanted some brain bleach afterwards.
People actually find the Insidious one scary? I was laughing my ass off when I saw that film, he literally has a fist fight with the devil. The film was good up until he entered the crazy world and fights the demon.

I first saw it when I was 4 but I couldn't fined the movie name until a week ago so I just though it was some weird as dream. I THOUGH IT WAS A DREAM ANDI WAS A MESSED UP CHILD.
I saw one fucking minute of "The Thing" when I was a kid, probably when I was five or six. It was the dog transforming, and my mom changed the channel before anything else happened. I want to see "The Thing" SO bad because it looks like a really creepy movie, but that one scene still sticks in my head and makes me wimp out. I'm seventeen now. That is some effective body horror. Or I'm just a chickenshit. Or both. Definitely could be both...
To be fair, Im 23 but any movie with animals being harmed/ killed are harder to Watch for some reasons and the scene with the dogs in that movie made me want to cry my ass off. so you're not alone bro lol

I actually watched the movie in Mythology class. I think the Pale Man is an alternate interpretation of the girl's stepfather. Trust me when I say he's even scarier.
I know this monster isn't from a movie and might not be considered the scariest monster in a lot of people's books but I always found the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who to be terrifying. Seriously, the episode "Blink" was what got me watching Doctor Who in the first place.
Yea I am in no way shocked the thing was number 1 I seen only half the movie and that half was from the dog thing to the Palmer thing and I just can't watch it again that's how bad it got me

To give an idea on terrifying the Pale Man scene is I met Doug Jones recently, and that yes he is one of the nicest guys you will meet when he touched my hands it felt pretty damn weird (Probably also because he had long bony fingers just in general). And when I flat out said it he jokingly responded “see? No eyeballs”
Big Poppa I've seen all 3 The Thing films. The 1982 remake is the best but still nowhere near as scary as Alien, Halloween, Black Christmas (1973) or Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
I was taught at an early age that Xenomorphs were cool, so I'm accustomed to that. I do not believe that they are scary whatsoever. It was a great idea to watch this in the bathroom with the power out.
+Omer Khan I would say the one from "An American Werewolf in London" is the scariest. " Stay Off The Moors" was probably one of the scariest scenes in a werewolf film.
I thought the werewolf from American Werewolf in London was terrifying, especially the howl! Surprised it wssnt on here. Glad the Xenomorph and The Thing were though. Good list

Well the new one isn't as well. All, really all of these films just try to trick the brain, playing with thousands year old instinctual fears...Some might be more susceptible to one certain factor, for example total darkness, being unable to control a situation due to lack of strength, mobility, weapons being ineffective, not being able to protect your family, helplessness, being hunted, to be at someone's mercy etc. etc. etc....There is no one who hast a single weak spot or is totally unperceptive to these fears that are deeply anchored in a humans nature. Fear is triggered by various factors, some which have been essential for the human race to survive since we started to walk upright. Some might be more in control of their feelings and able to rationalise their situation, assuring themselves the threat isn't real, but there might still be a physical reaction....To explore ones hidden fears and watch what instincts might cm show up, even through one might rationally know it's just a film, it's not real etc., is part of the fun, in my opinion.. And also how one responds to certain noise or musical patterns, associated with "danger , threat, be aware"....
I think the Alien should be #1 and the Creeper should be in the Top 10 but overall, I love your list very much! Predator should have been mentioned though
PYR0F0RCE haha I guess I missed that list. Xenos are creepy as hell but I adore those monsters. Predators are cool too plus the Thing BUT my personal #2 is Body Snatchers. They always scared me

Haven't watch the video yet but here are my predictions for the top 2 1. The "alien" from the alien movies, that thing gave me nightmares as a kid. 2. The "thing" from the movie the thing, I used to have nightmares that my brother was the "thing" XD I used to keep my distance from him.
It played well with old instincts and fears, a secluded area, far away from civilisation, more or less on their own, running away is not an option in this climate, being more or less helpless because the threat isn't easily identified, can't easily be destroyed, is infectious, from outer space, it's not known what else powers it might have, paranoia rises, ....
True, wheras I find the whole franchise amazing, I only truly like mimic 3. Mimic one wasn't gory enough, mimic 2 was strange... Really cool underrated franchise. Recommend to all horror lovers ;)
Is it bad that out of the horror stuff ive watched the scariest thing that I remember is the weird red and orange feathered creatures from The Labyrinth staring David Bowie? The thigs that remove their heads. They gave me nightmares as a kid.
