“Yeah I’m a great quitter. It’s one of the few things I do well. I come from a long line of quitters, my father was a quitter, my grandfather was a quitter. I was raised to give up”
"You told her I was a marine biologist?!", "why didn't you tell her I was an architect?", "You know I've always wanted to pretend to be an architect!!!"- george
Yeah well with George's luck there would have been some issue with a building fatiguing or something and someone would have yelled out if anyone was an architect
I wasn't expecting it to make the list of best Seinfeld quotes, but my favorite line is when George says, "You know I always wanted to pretend to be an architect." For me, that line brilliantly encapsulates the character. Even his life-long ambitions involve deceit.
My daughter just started dating an "architect." Oh no... Honey... I hate to break it to you, but George Costanza claimed to be an architect. My poor kids have grown up with a dad that connects every life event to Seinfeld.
I love an episode from thrid season, I guess, when Jerry is trying to rent a car. The dialogue goes like this: Jerry: I don't understand. Do you have my reservation? Rental Car Agent: We have your reservation, we just ran out of cars. Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation. Rental Car Agent: I think I know why we have reservations. Jerry: I don't think you do. You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.
It was the line AFTER Elaine asks "It shrinks?" (with THE best look on her face since any Lucille Ball expression) that made it for me-- bc it's true: "I dunno how you guys walk around with those things anyway." Such a matter-of-fact, deadpan delivery. Brilliance
Hahaha! This is, by far, one of my favorite scenes ever. I love how Elaine's tone of, almost, disgust insinuates that they had a choice in 'walking around with those things and how 'it' is not so superior right now. A very subtle and hilarious battle of the sexes reference. Thanks for the memory!!! Brilliant! =D
You get used to it. You kind of forget the whole collection is even there. Until someone you just met's dog runs up and slams their head into it. They like to do that, for some reason.
, Believe it or not / George isn't at home / Please leave a message at the beep / I must be out or I'd pick up the phone / Where could I be / Believe it or not I'm not home
"I choose not to run!" - Jerry, "The Race" (s06e10) "Maybe the dingo ate your baby." - Elaine, "The Beard" (s03e10) "Up here, I'm already gone." - Kramer, "The Keys" (s03e22) "It's not a lie if you believe it." - George, "The Beard" (s06e16) "If I was a woman, I'd be down at the dock waiting for the fleet to come in." - Jerry, (s04e16)
I love the quote from the Sniffing Accountant episode when Kramer sits at the bar and says: "Here's to feeling good all the time." and then drinks beer while smoking a cigarette. Classic Kramer moment :D
Kramer, when he decided to go commando: "I'm out there, Jerry, and I'm lovin' every minute of it!" I can't believe that one didn't even make the honorable mentions.
“You're not out there! You can't be, because I am out there. And if I see you out there, there's not enough voltage in this world to electroshock me back into coherence!”
“See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to hold the reservation and that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.”
It specifically said at the beginning of the video that it won't use phrases that are commonly used through out the series. However the "you double dipped the chip" quote should've at least been an honorable mention.
@@awesomesmasher999ftw4 agreed. This is a hard yikes on so many levels. Festivus line, and then the master of your domain lines, in that order from best.
“Was that wrong, should I not have done that; I have to plea the fifth on this,; if someone had told me when I was hired that type of thing was frowned upon around here “ lol
I own all nine seasons on DVD. I've seen every episode at least a hundred times. "These pretzels are making me thirsty" ought to be in 264th place. There are literally more than two hundred better and more memorable lines from the series than that one.
Double dipper: You dipped the chip, took a bite, then you dipped the chip again. Its like putting your whole mouth in the dip! Haha, love your show and this probably could have been a top 20 lol
And that guy is right. You don't double dip a chip at a party, dammit! This show knew how we all felt about society and put it into a wonderful sitcom.
GB - that line making fun of a woman who not only lost her child, but also went to prison for years before being proven innocent and lost her husband, years of her life and freedom, and had to put up with low lifes accusing her falsely and laughing about her troubles just shows what SCUM BAGS the public and hollywood can be.
Curtis H. But the line is a reference to a very real situation, the tragic loss of a baby and a 30plus years fight for justice for her family. The whole case is a huge blight on the Australian legal system but more importantly a family were destroyed. Joking about that is not funny
To this day I still use a lot of the quotes from the show. It’s always awesome when I throw out a crowd and somebody knows exactly which episode I’m talking about
Believe it or not George, isn't at home, please leave a messaaaage, at the beep. I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone, where could I beeeee. Believe it or not, I'm not hommmmmmmme.
There are so many good quotes, but I like George's quote while dating the Chinese Lawyer: "I'm disturbed, I'm depressed, I'm inadequate. I've got it all!" Also: "remember Jerry, it's not a lie if you believe it."
George: " Jerry, let's face it, I've always been handicapped. I'm just now getting the recognition for it. Name one thing I have that puts me in a position of advantage."
