I have never smelled such an irresistible fragrance like Chergui ❤ Chergui is best fragrance in the world , no doubt ! It has this pithy special incomparable Tunisian fragrance of aesthetic charm that you can only smell in the heart of North Africa .. a fragrance that appeals to all senses ❤ try it and you will fall in love with chergui ❤
Chergui is mesmerizing to me - any of these along the same lines? I love cacao, tobacco, honey- not big on white florals - didn't get on with Fleurs D'loranger
Used might also be decanted. He said himself at the beginning of the video that he decanted to many friends. Nevertheless, I enjoy Sebastian’s videos. 🙋♂️
Chergui is the only fragrance I like from this line on my skin. It’s an amazing fragrance. I luckily got mine for $25 for 75 percent full. Most are pretty good smell wise though.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, very helpful. Tubereuse Criminelle was my first Lutens fragrance. I absolutely love it and it is still my favourite. Fille en aiguilles, Fleurs d'Orangers and Ambre Sultan are also in y rotation and are great too.
I love Ambre Sultan, Bapteme du feu and un bois vanille. I think Fille En Aiguilles is amazing around Christmas time edit; 😂 you just said it 😂 after I wrote it , I don’t wait until the end but interact with you 🤣
I'd love to see more Serge Lutens reviews! I have many of the ones you've shown and would love more from this house - recently got Baptime de fu - beautiful
*STILL* a house I need to check out!! Thanks for shining more light and info on these fragrances and as *ALWAYS* Sabastian... Thank you for the *GREAT* video!!👍👍
Actually, all rare Serge Lutens, Bell Jars and special releases are available in Moscow boutique, which seems to have the same selection as Palais Royal. I'm actually surprised that people don't know that SL has an official store in Russia
JEUX DE PEAU arrived today what a delish ANISE COOKIE scent that works well even though Im not a licorice fan thanks for opening my eyes to this one as well JIM from MIAMI BEACH
Fille en Aiguilles is my favorite Serge and yes, it is one of the exclusives now. If you love dried fruits in the Serge perfumes then try Bois et Fruits! Another one that got moved to only bell jars. I'm trying to find a way to buy one from Canada at the moment and trying to make my Fille en Aiguilles last me forever as the new bottles in exclusives line are 500.00 Canadian. I'm so mad at you Serge! lol!
Thanks for the store shots! Looks very cool. I like a lot from this house but own very little. The best blended ones are made with notes I don't wear a lot. I will own a bell jar if De Profundis one day. It's not even typical of what I wear but it touches a part of me that identifies with a melancholy I experienced in early spring and late fall. I just don't want to pay U. S. Dollars for it. I need a mule!😂
I L.O.V.E Fille en aiguilles as well, and I just have a few drops left in my bottle (and I can't find Serge Lutens in Norway any more, unfortunately). Reminds me of hiking/berry trips with my father when I was a kid. Cloudberries, warm skin, pine, wood, fresh air. Addictive and comforting scent for me. Thank you for all your great content! ❤
I love this house along with diptyque. For me i rate 1. Ambre sultan 2. Fille de berlin 3. Majeste la rose (Their rose scents are so addictive) 4. 5 olock 5. Jeax de peau 5. Santal majuscule 6. Bapteme du feu 7. Fleurs d'orrange 8. Chergui 9. Un bois vannile I need to try more. Only one i didn't like was l'eau da paille ( so boring and different from his style)
I just broke down and got a tester of Jeux de Peau; I wore the crap out of my decant last Fall/Winter. It is so yummy and cozy! I also love Encens et Lavande. I need to revisit my sample of 5 O'clock.
Daim Blond, Fumerie Turque, Un Lys, Muscs KK are my favourites. I really want to try some you mentioned. Fleurs D'Oranger, Feminite de Bois and Fille en Aiguilles and some exclusives (Forreau Noir, Sarrasins, Boxeuses). They do leather and fruit really well.
Oh, wow! what a smashing video at the end :)) I have Chergui, Peter from fragrance view thought I would like it and I love it! It's a mood changer in a lovely way ;)) They have thee best atomizers for their sleek bottles... just the Right amount of a misty cloud to cloak you!!! That bell bottle looks highly dangerous. Although those frosted ones in your video are yummy in presentation. I look forward to trying more of this line. Thank you! 🌻🐝
Great video! you forgot to list - though fortunately you do discuss - one of my absolute faves of Lutens, Fumerie Turque :) My (current) top ten is Ambre Sultan, FuTu, La Myrrh, Iris Silver Mist, Borneo 1832, Sarassins, De Profundis, Vetiver Oriental, Bas de Soie, Vitriol d'Oeuillet
Sebastian, i liked the part when you say “ you sold some to your friends” :-) selling to friends ! that is truly friendly gesture indeed . on the serious note, i always enjoy and appreciate your expertise, you are one very knowledgeable person
Great video Sebastian!! Aww man I need to jump on another Amber Sultan! I was already bummed about Mitzah which I love. Definitely gotta buy another one. God bless
sometimes I buy something after a quick test, after I check your channel to see if that something it's in the "top 3", If not i say to myself: "damn!!!"
Awesome 👏🏼 awesome video brother! I like how your top 5 are a lot stronger Tobacco type, I need to add some to my collection. The Arabic one sounds unique too, That Turkish Fire 🔥 one I think could become a collector’s item at some point👌🏼
If you're saying Fleur D'Oranger wrong, then I'M saying it wrong - because it sounds good to me. Thanks for the reference! Great video, and super helpful, as always. Thanks for the hard work, and for being such an inspiration!
Great list, Sebastian! Love this house. I have several from your list and a few different ones (Gris Clair, Santal Majuscule, Cedre). Thanks for the video!
Got Arabie , Un bois vanille , Jeux de Peau, which I adore. Also Chergui , Ambre Sultan, I also adore Annick's Ambre Fetchie My absolute favorite is the same as yours, filles en aiguilles . That and Straight to Heaven are my favorite Christmas scents. Didn't care for the opening of Serge Noire though. Top notch list Sebastian . Have the very best of weekend .
My very first SL was Feminite de Bois and I also bought it in Germany (Hamburg). This was also the first niche fragrance I bought. I find it very unique. Can you recommend other frags that has that sort of vibe? :)
My favorite is Datura Noir. In fact it’s my favorite fragrance ever. Fleurs D’Oranger is pretty except is has a very noticeable Cumin note that unfortunately smells like body odor. So much so that I actually checked myself to make sure it wasn’t me. Nope it’s definitely the fragrance. Many people on Fragrantica mentioned it as well. If it didn’t have that note I would have bought it because the it has some of the most beautiful orange blossom ever.
Silent S in Lutens ;) lute'unn. And the last e in "féminité" is pronounced because French must be hard 😀 (the é is accented) Fille en Aiguilles refers to a girl in stiletto heels and femininity (to be found?) in the pine needles. I guess. Great video and I was going to say go visit the store at the Palays royal but hey :)
Sebastian, Nice SL list! Regarding the logo change. It appears that all SL fragrances released before 2010 will have the old palace logo on them. But if still available in retail stores, they will have the new SL logo, indicating a reformulation. Cherguie was reformulated a year or so ago, and if the logo change reformulation connection is true then this means that chergui was reformulated again. It would not surprise me to find it all being true, as fragrance reviewer max forti has told me that chergui has been reformulated at least 3 or 4 times. Regardless, good juice produced by this house. : > ). A2!
Thanks for this, a lovely video. My #1 of the house is the same, what a great fragrance! Unfortunately this indeed is discontinued as an export line spray bottle now and will soon only be available as a bell jar from Serge Lutens directly.
I am relative,y new to your channel, but love your scent sensibility and am binge watching your archived material (in spite of a miscommunication we seemed to have had over Do Son, all forgiven and forgotten of course 😁). So, where in the middle east do your early life experiences come from. Curious only b/c I've had a similar childhood and ensuing 25+ years in San Francisco as well.
How dare you not include La Fille de Berlin! :P Can't wait to get my hands on Nuit de Cellophane. What do you think of Santal Majuscule? They carry these at some Sephora stores now (at least the ones in Toronto during a visit) and they were sporting uglier modern-looking branding.
Oh; I see! So this must be something etched in the native French language in their daily culture. I couldn't know that much, so thank you for the information!
Love 5 O'clock Gingembre and like Ambre Sultan and owned a bell jar of Muscs Koublai Khan which I didn't like because of what seemed to me to have a bit of a B.O. smell. Was able to sell it lightning fast on ebay.
Very nice video! Thank you Sebastian! I always loved Douce amère - which I unfortunately do not own again, it's now in his exclusive line I believe and hard to get - and Clair de Musc. I never found anything like Douce amère in another fragrance and I miss it the older I get, because I was too young when I own it first time to appreciate it as much as I do now. Perfect memories! Puuh and I almost forgot to mention Daim Blonde! My leather scent from SL! It is amazing. And Fleurs d'Oranger, I do not use it often, I will try it again next sping in Germany ;-))
What are you thoughts on bapteme du feu and fleur de citronnier? Bee jars are so sad too! I'm so shaky in my hand I'll probably spill the jar just trying to make a spray!
Sebastian I LOVE fille en auguilles. I've had 2 bottles. Is there another company perfumery that does something similar, the beautiful pine especially. Jovoy or Roma porfumo or any other noses that have created a similar vib?
I love Serge Lutens fragrances. I have five at the moment, plus another on the way right now. I have Chergui, A la Nuit, Datura Noir, Feminite du Bois, and Fleurs d'Oranger. Un Bois Vanille is currently on its way to me. I also want to get both "Filles" (Fille en Aiguilles and Fille de Berlin), Arabie, and Tubereuse Criminelle. I haven't smelled Five O'Clock yet, but from the reviews and description, I'm guessing I'd really like that one, too.
I turn to your channel for the best reviews! Just got Fleurs D'loranger and am a little disappointed I didn't choose something different - it's just not me I guess - too bright? - I do very well with Chergui, and Ambre Sultan - wish I could get my hands on the Fumarie Torque fragrance as I'm loving tobacco How about the cocao rose fragrance? - would that be along the lines of the darker fragrances I like? Churgui is me favorite so far - its mesmerizing on my skin
thanks for another great review big fan of this house BOIS VANILLE is pretty nice but I like a number of vanillas better I admire ARABIE & FLEURS d'ORANGER as nice but Ive smelled better/cheaper orange blossom AMBRE SULTAN winds as my fave AMBER scent out of all of them! got grab a bottle of FUMERIE TURQUE not a fan of bottles that you must decant into an atomizer JIM TYRRELL
Thank you for the excellent treatment of Serge Luytens, a House I fell in love with in maybe 2012, when my sister gifted me with Borneo 1834, from there I have branched out to at least encounter, even unable to afford quantities, of many more SL. I enjoy and value your descriptions and valuations. So, clicked like and subscribed and notifications. John Benson.
Hey I love your videos! I am going to Paris in the spring and am on the hunt to buy something special. Any recommendations on boutiques or fragrances that are hard to find in the US but available in Paris?
You are making me want all of these. SL need to send you some cash for this one lol! I don’t understand why companies try to make some of their best scents so difficulty to get. Two questions: 1) I’ve read that there is a strong cumin note in Arabie, how prominent is the cumin note to you? 2) Can you describe the amber note in Ambre Sultan? Is it powdery resinous, or is it petroleum like? Does that even make sense?
Cumin is not that prominent on me from Arabie but it could be on others. It's odd because I have heard this too and I can smell cumin easily I don't get this on me though. Ambre Sultan is certainly spicy resinous but not much powdery. More balasmic resinous spicy herbal amber.
yep dent de lait please! a blind buy - when will i learn.... love the dry down but very laundry at the top. not sure if its a keeper. will try in the summer.
Unfortunately, it was announced after this video to be in the bell jars. I'm not a 100% sure but I believe it's not discontinued and it's only available in the bell jar as I said. :)
